• IP stops working from time to time

  Hi, have a problem that I can't seem to find the reason for. We are running a small network with windows clients(XP/Win7) and windows servers(2008 sp2/2008r2). The domaincontroller is working as DC, DNS, DHCP, VPN. We have a Level1 FBR4000 between internet and our internal network. The problem is that from time to time specific IP-adresses stops working, the only way I have gotten the devices to work again is to exclude the specific IP from the DHCP address pool and getting a new IP, then everything works again. It seems as the specific IP is beeing banned/blocked somewhere but I just can't figure out where. Anyone got an idea as to where I should start to look? I could also point out that I just reinstalled all servers due to a officemove and was hoping to get away from this problem but it just showed up again. This last time it was my iPhone that got stuck through the Wi-Fi...

• ESXi Static IP setup with gateway on different subnet

  I've got an ESXi server that I'm trying to assign a static IP to. I'm having trouble setting the gateway because (I presume) the gateway is on a different subnet. I've been able to accomplish this task on normal Linux servers by doing the following: route add 172.50.99.254 eth0 route add -net default gw 172.50.99.254 eth0 Now using the GUI config tools for ESXi I've tried setting the following IP: 172.50.5.151 Netmask: 255.255.252.0 Gateway: 172.50.99.254 The gateway does not stick, and when I try to add the gateway manually using esxcfg-route it says it has no route to the gateway IP. How can I get this static IP set correctly? (I don't have any control over the network setup).

UPDATE, I now see that I kust need to convert the first 8 charecters from hex to decimal....which I can then convert to IP. the trick is to parse those first charecters from the field with SQL

• Remotely viewing IP camera on Belkin N450 DB router

  I need to setup a wireless IP camera (Trendnet TV-IP501W) on my network so that it is remotely visible from anywhere. Right now I successfully connected it to my home network but nothing else. My router is a Belkin N450 DB. Any help would be much appreciated, including what this would be referred to as so I could more easily ask another forum. I believe it is something like "port forwarding" but I'm not sure. Ok, I believe I found this in the "virtual servers" section. It asks for enabling with a check box, description, inbound port, type, private IP, & private port. In that order I have checked enabling, "camera", 150, TCP, 81, and 81? I'm assuming inbound ports are the numbers I use for the home network - xxx.xxx.x.150 and the 81 was for private. I used my WAN IP and added :81 and .81 but didn't get it. What am I doing wrong?   I'm trying to allow a service to a set of machines via Windows Firewall. I'd like to add my home machine to the firewall but my home machine has a dynamic ip address. I use dyndns so that I have a hostname which I can always connect to. So I'm trying to see if there is a way I can use my hostname instead of an IP. Thanks Update Let me add a little more information, perhaps there are other ways to resolve my issue. The server is a web server hosted by RackSpace. I only want to allow RDP access from my work (static IP, so no problem) and home (dynamic). My home IP doesn't change too often, just often enough to annoy me. So maybe there is a better way to do this... maybe VPN?

  I have different ip-range on the network, the dhcp is from the bordaband that says it uses different iprange as balancednetwork. however this causes issue as my nas and other computer gets the otner iprange of 84 and some computer gets iprange start at 94.254. i have use netgear switches gs108v2 but still get the issue with different ip adress. would apriciate answer on how i can get all devies on the same ip-range thanks

• How to have 2 windows machines on the same network with the same IP address

  I have a custom made ADC device that is spitting out data by addressed UDP packets. I have that device plugged into a 4 port switch. I have one windows embedded standard 7 machine which is the normal recipient of that data. To be able to receive the data (Using LabVIEW) the windows network adapter IPv4 settings must have a static IP address that corresponds to the UDP packet destination. I would like to add a second windows machine (This one is just regular Win 7 Pro) to simultaneously catch the data, however with all devices connected to the switch, the Win 7 Pro machine recognizes an IP address conflict and will not take the setting for the required static IP address. (The network adaptor settings show that the correct value has been entered but ipconfig shows that it is not actually set.) Neither windows machine needs to transmit network data, they only need to be able to receive the UDP data from the ADC device. Is there any way to disable this IP address conflict detection 'feature' of windows networking?

• Discover the public ip of a network without being connected

  Let say, I'm next to a network and can see the traffic (with airodump or similar tool) but can not decipher it (because I am not connected on the network). Is it possible to discover the public ip address of the network ? I know the MAC address of the users connected on the network but do I know the one of the router ? If yes, maybe there is a way to do the matching. I know IP addresses are not forever but some addresses are static and never change. Maybe there is a database of MAC address having recorded that. Google has a database that match MAC address and geographical coordinates so why not with IP addresses ? Other idea, if I know where am I, I can maybe guess the IP range used in the city by the ISP (is it findable ?) and then try to "ping" each IP on the range (if it is a /24, it's possible, even /16 maybe). Will I get some information like the MAC of the box or see some traffic on the network ? These are two ideas I had. I don't know if they are doable, certainly not perfect. Do you think of some others ? By trying several methods, maybe I can get a guess with a bit of luck. Thank you

  I have a Web site that we have setup a health monitoring pages so we can take our servers in and out of the Big-IP as we see fit. Now we have just moved onto Big-IP and the issue I have hit is that you setup Health Monitors for port 80 and 443, now the 80 check works fine but when I to get the 443 check to look at our file it fails. Now I am aware as I am hitting the this page on the IP address over HTTPS is going to cause a cert error but I would have guessed that BIG-Ip would have been setup just to accept the cert and carry on with the check. Is what I am wanting to do possible? Also is there a way of just using a HTTP monitor for HTTPS? Because if port 80 has stopped sending traffic then if i use the same monitor for 443 it will stop traffic to that. Any help would be great! Thanks

• Accessing server by dedicated IP address

  I'm having an issue with my hosting provider after migrating to a new account. It's taking some time to get the problem sorted out, so I am hoping someone here can shed some light on the situation. The server is running WHM/cPanel, and the site I am trying to access has a dedicated IP address. When I connect to the server like this http://IP.HERE instead of showing my the website the way I would expect, it is showing the contents of a subfolder. So, while I would expect it to load public_html/ it is loading public_html/somefolder/ instead. Any idea why this is happening instead of showing the sites homepage the way I would expect? EDIT It is not redirecting, so the url is just http://IP.ADDRESS/, but the files listed are from a subfolder. So, it LOOKS at though I went to http://IP.ADDRESS/subfolder, when the URL says it should be showing the main folder contents. When I access the site using the domain name, it works properly, so I assume the document root is set correctly.

  Hi all, my site has outgrown the shared hosting account it's on and i've setup a VPS that i'll be moving to soon. I cannot keep the same IP between my new account and the old one and I'm a bit at loss as to how to minimize user downtime while the new IP is reflected in all DNS caches. Note I cannot have the site running on both accounts at the same time as it's a dating site and this would cause data inconsistency. Here's what i am planning to do : Put up a 'under maintenance' page on old host Get the site up and running on new host, and update domain to point to new host. Hope downtime isn't too long. Would it be a good idea to have a link on the page in (1) that opens the new site but using it's ip ? Or even redirect all requests at the old host, to the new one (again by ip) ? Any advice much appreciated.

• Windows 2008 R2 Not resolving IP's or domains

  I have two servers with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, and today I realized that one of them don't resolve IP's or domain names. If I ping the same machine IP, it respond, but if I ping an external IP (like 8.8.8.8 or any other) it does not work. The same with domain names. At Windows Event Viewer I'm having Warning 1014: Name resolution for the name timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded THE SERVER HAS CONNECTIVITY, I'm connected remotely and the services and incoming traffic (like FTP, etc) are working OK. Things I've done & tested: Run Kaspersky Virus Removal 10 Restart/Turn off the DNS Client service Clean the hosts file Reboot the server Turn off the Windows Firewall (there's not another firewall) Quit or replace the current DNS servers I just can ping the same machine IP or the gateway! Can anybody help me?

• SBS 2003 CEICW - Multiple IP's causing error

  two IP adresses (different subnets) are assigned to one networkcard. In the Properties window the order is right, however the Server always picks the wrong one as the "default ip". This causes CEICW to fail with an "The DHCP Server service is started, but the DHCP scope does not match the network address of the server's local area network (LAN) adapter." error. The DHCP Server is installed and configured, but not for the other subnet as it is not needed. If i remove the other subnets IP everything works fine. Is there any way around that without temporarily removing the IP adress or configuring DHCP for one more Subnet?

My program is able to decode the SLIP protocol and create a single string containing an IP packet if necessary. I couldn't find any relevant tcpdump command-line flags except for -r. The file format is documented at http://www.tcpdump.org/pcap/pcap.html , but it looks a bit too complicated. Is there a Linux tool for pretty-printing raw IP packets?

  Hi, I have played about with the tutorial and Compass itself for a bit now. I have just started to ramp up the use of it and have found that the performance slows drastically. I am certain that this is due to my mappings and the relationships that I have between entities and was looking for suggestions about how this should be best done. Also as a side question I wanted to know if a variable is in an @searchableComponent but is not defined as @searchable when the component object is pulled out of Compass results will you be able to access that variable? I have 3 main classes that I want to search on - Provider, Location and Activity. They are all inter-related - a Provider can have many locations and activites and has an address; A Location has 1 provider, many activities and an address; An activity has 1 provider and many locations. I have a join table between activity and Location called ActivityLocation that can later provider additional information about the relationship. My classes are mapped to compass as shown below for provider location activity and address. This works but gives a huge index and searches on it are comparatively slow, any advice would be great.   I have a Windows Server which has ~10 IP addresses statically bound. The problem is I don't know how to specify the default IP address. Sometimes when I assign a new address to the NIC, the default IP address changes with the last IP entered in the advanced IP configuration on the NIC. This has the effect (since I use NAT) that the outgoing public IP changes too.
