  • How to Call methods I see in a wsdl file someone linked me to?

    - by Derek
Hi all, I am not a Java programmer by trade. C and Fortran mostly. However, I have this one-off project someone wants done. Connect to some web-based database and retrieve some data from it. I asked around, and someone finally linked me to a WSDL page. I click on this link, and I see a huge XML looking file. If I am writing a stand-alone java application, how do I go about calling these (promising looking) method names that I see in the wsdl. You know "getCoordinates" is there, but i have no idea how to call that method. After googling, I am finding a lot of different ways, and I am not sure what is the best way for my simple application. Thanks

  • How to create a splash activity , call a second activity via a button, simple data form 5 fields and 2 buttons

    - by Mike
New to Android need help with one solid build that I can refer to and study for future projects. The first activity is a background image with a button, when clicked the it takes you to the second activity which is a form with 5 data fields and 2 buttons. One button calls an intent to take a picture within the app and one button that submits the data from the form along with the picture to URL. lastly a third activity that says complete thank you. I can make some of this but don't know how to link button or open and merge camera with the app to be sent as a package of data. I suppose I could also hook into GPS acquire location as well as the camera call?

  • How to programmatically insert call log entries WITH display name and photo?

    - by dchappelle
    I am able to programmatically insert an entry into the Android call log with a number, date, duration & type BUT I cannot figure out how to also include a photo, label and name? I do the following.. (didn't know what to even try for the photo) ContentValues values = new ContentValues(); values.put(CallLog.Calls.NUMBER, number); values.put(CallLog.Calls.CACHED_NAME, name); values.put(CallLog.Calls.CACHED_NUMBER_LABEL, label); values.put(CallLog.Calls.DATE, date); values.put(CallLog.Calls.DURATION, duration); values.put(CallLog.Calls.TYPE, myCallType); context.getContentResolver().insert(CallLog.Calls.CONTENT_URI, values);

  • Why need to call NSTimer again in this code?

    - by Tattat
    - (void) applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { //set up main loop [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.033 target:self selector:@selector(gameLoop:) userInfo:nil repeats:NO]; //create instance of the first GameState [self doStateChange:[gsMain class]]; } - (void) gameLoop: (id) sender { [((GameState*)viewController.view) Update]; [((GameState*)viewController.view) Render]; [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.033 target:self selector:@selector(gameLoop:) userInfo:nil repeats:NO]; } This code is from a iPhone game development book. I don't know why the gameLoop method need to call the NSTimer again? in the applicationDidFinishLaunching, it set the NSTimer to do, why don't let it do every 0.033s, why add the same NSTimer code in the gameLoop method? thz.

  • Call load using a div id that has been passed into a function, div id is a parameter

    - by tittatty
    I am dynamically creating divs within a jquery accordion that are loaded with data as when the user clicks on the accordion title. I have this all working except that when I pass the div id into the load details method, the call to .load() does not work. What can I do to fix this? It seems like a simple javascript string eval would work but I can not find what I am looking for. Code: Here is the basic function: function loadDetails(div_id) { var load_string = "ajax/get_details.aspx"; $(div_id).load(load_string); } This function is called correctly on the click event and the div_id is passed in correctly but the load function is not working. If I use code like this it work correctly: $('#test').load(load_string);

  • Is there any reason for a blocking call to winsock send() function on Vista to return immediately ?

    - by ivymike
Hi All, Is there any reason for a blocking call to winsock's send() function on Vista to return immediately ? It works with expected delay on XP and below. I'm wondering if this has got anything to do with auto-tuning feature of Vista. Code: char *pBuffer; // pointer to data int bytes; // total size int i = 0, j=0; while (i < bytes) { j = send(m_sock, pBuffer+i, bytes-i, 0); i+=j; } Thanks, Pavan

  • Does C++ require a destructor call for each placement new?

    - by Josh Haberman
I understand that placement new calls are usually matched with explicit calls to the destructor. My question is: if I have no need for a destructor (no code to put there, and no member variables that have destructors) can I safely skip the explicit destructor call? Here is my use case: I want to write C++ bindings for a C API. In the C API many objects are accessible only by pointer. Instead of creating a wrapper object that contains a single pointer (which is wasteful and semantically confusing). I want to use placement new to construct an object at the address of the C object. The C++ object will do nothing in its constructor or destructor, and its methods will do nothing but delegate to the C methods. The C++ object will contain no virtual methods. I have two parts to this question. Is there any reason why this idea will not work in practice on any production compiler? Does this technically violate the C++ language spec?

  • How can I call an executable to run on a separate machine within a program on my own machine (win xp

    - by Mr. H.
My objective is to write a program which will call another executable on a separate computer(all with win xp) with parameters determined at run-time, then repeat for several more computers, and then collect the results. In short, I'm working on a grid-computing project. The algorithm itself being used is already coded in FORTRAN, but we are looking for an efficient way to run it on many computers at once. I suppose one way to accomplish this would be to upload a script to each computer and then run said script on each computer, all automatically and dependent on my own parameters. But how can I write a program which will write to, upload, and run a script on a separate computer? I had considered GridGain, but the algorithm is already coded and in a different language, so that is ruled out. My current guess at accomplishing this task is using Expect (wiki/Expect), but I have no knowledge of the tool. Any advice appreciated.

  • how to call a php class function directly using ajax?

    - by payling
Is it possible to call a php class function DIRECTLY using ajax? Something like below... except ajax... myclass::myfunction(); I've been using the jquery library to work with AJAX. $.get('control.php', {func: funcName, arg1: arg1}); The above is similar to what I'm trying to achieve MINUS the control.php; I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I just thought it would be nice to skip the landing page (control.php) that recieves the funcName. I have a bunch of conditional statements that sort out what class function to run based on the funcName recieved. It seems kind of silly to do this, to have a separate page just to handle function calls. Is there a better way?

  • ASPNET MVC what do you call this, a partial view? Or something else?

    - by JK
I'm trying to google for info on a situation, but I dont know what it is called, so its hard to find results :) I have a model with say 10 fields. But only some of those are shown on a particular view, lets say 3 of them: id, name, date. What do you call this kind of view that does not display the whole model? A partial view? The problem is that because 7 fields are not sent to the view, when the Update action is called on the controller, those fields are null, and the DB gets updated with those 7 fields set to null.

  • How do I load every UserForm without having to call .Show individually?

    - by Daniel Cook
I wanted to figure out how you could load every UserForm without having to call Userform1.Show UserForm2.Show etc. This was inspired by comments on this answer: Excel VBA UserForm_Initialize() in Module. I found this method suggested in a few places: Sub OpenAllUserForms() Dim uf As UserForm For Each uf In UserForms uf.Show Next End Sub However, no Userforms display regardless of how many are attached to the workbook. When I stepped through the code I determined that the UserForms collection is empty! How can I load each Userform without having to explicitly show each one?

  • How do I produce an external URL as part of a replace_html call in Ruby on Rails?

    - by vlasits
Basically, I am attempting to render an external website (the url of which is stored in the database) into a page in my Ruby on Rails app. I have a field in my model 'search' called 'search' that contains web addresses with the form 'www.example.com' or 'example.com'. I am trying to use a link_to_function call with replace_html to replace the 'maincontent' div with an iframe tag using the value of 'search' in the current instance as the src for the tag. My current attempt is the very ugly code below. I'd be grateful for either of the following types of responses: How can I rewrite the concatenation string to work correctly? How can I get the same effect (replacing the current content of the "mainContent" div with an iframe tag using a different method? (I had to modify the code before to remove the < from the iframe) link_to_function h(search.title) do |page| page.replace_html 'mainContent', 'iframe id="embedded" src="http://" + #{search.search} />' end

  • C++ - How to call a member function for an inherited object.

    - by Francisco P.
Hello! I have a few classes (heat, gas, contact, pressure) inheriting from a main one (sensor). I have a need to store them in a vector<Sensor *> (part of the specification). At some point in time, I need to call a function that indiscriminately stores those Sensor *. (also part of the specification, not open for discussion) Something like this: for(size_t i = 0; i < Sensors.size(); ++i) Sensors[i]->storeSensor(os) //os is an ofstream kind of object, passed onwards by reference Where and how shall storeSensor be defined? Is there any simple way to do this or will I need to disregard the specification? Mind you, I'm a beginner! Thanks for your time!

  • How would one call std::forward on all arguments in a variadic function?

    - by Noah Roberts
I was just writing a generic object factory and using the boost preprocessor meta-library to make a variadic template (using 2010 and it doesn't support them). My function uses rval references and std::forward to do perfect forwarding and it got me thinking...when C++0X comes out and I had a standard compiler I would do this with real variadic templates. How though, would I call std::forward on the arguments? template < typename ... Params void f(Params ... params) // how do I say these are rvalue reference? { y(std::forward(...params)); //? - I doubt this would work. } Only way I can think of would require manual unpacking of ...params and I'm not quite there yet either. Is there a quicker syntax that would work?

  • How to call split(token) on a string that does not contain the token without causing an error?

    - by Vorinowsky
I have two types of strings as the IDs of elements in my HTML markup: Dates: "april-23" "march-20" and season names: "springtime" "winter" The dates have a dash separating the month and the day. The seasons are a single word with no other tokens. I want to assign the month or the season to a new variable called: time_of_year If I do this: var time_of_year = $(this).attr("id").split('-')[0]; It will work on the months but if I call it on a season name which does not contain the token, will it generate an error? What's the safe way to do this?

  • Call external library from PHP. What is faster: exec or extension?

    - by robusta
Hi, I need to make calls from webpage to external library written in C++ and display the result. Platform is Linux, Apache, PHP. My current idea is to use PHP service which will call my library/program. I found that there are two possible ways to do this: 1) use PHP 'exec' function 2) write PHP extension I am curious what works more effective? Faster? Less load the server? I will probably need to do 4 calls per second, so I want to be as optimal as possible. P.S. If you are aware of some other (more effective) way of calling C++ library or program from webpage, please let me know. Thanks a lot, Robusta

  • How to call method written in C# class library from Silverlight application(xaml.cs file) ?

    - by Shyju
Can a Silverlight application call a method in a full .NET c# class library? I am trying to add a Silverlight control to my Existing ASP.NET project where i used to add reference to my Business Logic Project and access methods from My UI pages of ASP.NET Web application. Now I have added one Silverlight project to my solution. How can I use the already existing BL method which is in a C# class library ? When tried to add reference, it is saying that "You can only add project reference to other silver light projects in the solution". Should i give up ? Is there any way to get rid of this ?

  • const member functions can call const member functions only?

    - by Abhi
Hi all. Do const member functions call only const member functions? class Transmitter{ const static string msg; mutable int size; public: void xmit() const{ size = compute(); cout<<msg; } private: int compute() const{return 5;} }; string const Transmitter::msg = "beep"; int main(){ Transmitter t; t.xmit(); return EXIT_SUCCESS; } If i dont make compute() a const, then the compiler complains. Is it because since a const member function is not allowed to modify members, it wont allow any calls to non-consts since it would mean that the const member function would be 'indirectly' modifying the data members?

  • How to call a function from a shared library?

    - by Frank
What is the easiest and safest way to call a function from a shared library / dll? I am mostly interested in doing this on linux, but it would be better if there were a platform-independent way. Could someone provide example code to show how to make the following work, where the user has compiled his own version of foo into a shared library? // function prototype, implementation loaded at runtime: std::string foo(const std::string); int main(int argc, char** argv) { LoadLibrary(argv[1]); // loads library implementing foo std::cout << "Result: " << foo("test"); return 0; } BTW, I know how to compile the shared lib (foo.so), I just need to know an easy way to load it at runtime.

  • How to Get the Method/Function Call Trace for a Specific Run?

    - by JackWM
Given a Java or JavaScript program, after its execution, print out a sequence of calls. The calls are in invocation order. E.g. main() { A(); } A() { B(); C(); } Then the call trace should be: main -> A() -> B() -> C() Is there any tool that can profile and output this kind of information? It seems this is common a need for debugging or performance tuning. I noticed that some profilers can do this, but I prefer a simpler/easy-to-use one. Thanks!

  • scala coalesces multiple function call parameters into a Tuple -- can this be disabled?

    - by landon9720
This is a troublesome violation of type safety in my project, so I'm looking for a way to disable it. It seems that if a function takes an AnyRef (or a java.lang.Object), you can call the function with any combination of parameters, and Scala will coalesce the parameters into a Tuple object and invoke the function. In my case the function isn't expecting a Tuple, and fails at runtime. I would expect this situation to be caught at compile time. object WhyTuple { def main(args: Array[String]): Unit = { fooIt("foo", "bar") } def fooIt(o: AnyRef) { println(o.toString) } } Output: (foo, bar)

How do I get access to these files? Just by using open()? Thank you,

  • Do you have to call .Save() when modifying a application setting that is bound to a control property

    - by Jordan S
I am programming in .NET I have an application setting of type string. On my form I have a textbox. I bound the text property of the textbox to my application setting. If I type something in the textbox it changes the value that is held in the Application setting but the next time I start the program it goes back to the default value. Do I need to call Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); after the text is entered for the new value to be saved? Shouldn't it do this automatically? Is there a way I can make it do it automatically?
