• How to merge-copy multiple folders in Outlook?

  In MS Outlook, I need to be able to incrementally copy items in multiple folders in the Exchange account to a local PST file with a mirrored folder structure. I need the items in each folder to be combined into the destination. For example, let's say on the server account I have a folder tree like this: Inbox SortedEmails1 SortedEmails2 SortedEmails3 I also have these same four folders in the local PST file, which I want to keep growing as I incrementally pull more messages from the Exchange server. Messages from "Inbox" should go to the local "Inbox", messages from "SortedEmails1" should go into "SortedEmails1" in the local PST, etc. I'd like to avoid manually iterating into every single folder and copying items. How can I do this?

  all. My company host all the software, including application and website in one local ubuntu server. But recently we start to use Amazon EC2, and want to move the whole server to cloud. Is there anyway to copy the entire server to EC2? OS is the same, ubuntu 12.04, and just one server, and one user account. On EC2 is also one instance, one account. I don't know whether there is a simple and quick way to do that. Thanks a lot!!

• Serial number not found, copy of Windows not genuine

  I have an HP-G71-340US notebook that I purchased 11/29/09. When I power it up, a black screen comes on that shows "serial number not found" and it also says that my copy of Windows 7 Home Basic is not genuine – but my computer came with Windows 7 Home Premium. In BIOS, my serial number is not shown either and I did pull out the little battery to reset it which allowed me to bypass the suddenly new locked BIOS that needed a password to enter. I'm sure this is a masterpiece created by my 6 or 9 yr old child while trying to play on my laptop. Can I fix these two problems?

• Guestfish not found on Debian 7 when execute virt-copy-in [on hold]

  When I execute virt-copy-in command on a kvm host(Debian7.1), I got error saying "guestfish not found". However according to the dpkg comamnd, guestfish do have been installed: john@sver:~$ dpkg-query -l | grep guestfs* ii libguestfs-perl ... ii libguestfs-tools ... ii libguestfs0 ... What's the problem? Is the libguestfs-tools not the guestfish in Debian? Or it's just a broken dependency in libguestfs-tools in Debian7.1(my KVM Host)?

• Director .app (Mac application) files won't copy to a PC

  Hi there I have a few Mac applications that I would like to transfer to a Windows computer. One was created using Adobe Director 11.0 and the rest were created using Adobe Flash CS4. The one created by Flash has no troubles whatsoever. The ones created using Director can't be copied to a Windows machine. I am using Snow Leopard and I tried to copy to Windows XP from CD, which was burned on the Mac. Development took place on the Mac as well.

• Copy Network Volume configuration among Linux systems

  I have several standalone Debian Linux (Lenny) systems. As it stands now, all of the systems are configured with a generic login account. This login account has a network volume that connects to a Windows share on a Windows server. I need to create a batch of user accounts on all of the systems (this part I figured out). After I create all of the user accounts, I need all of them to have the same network volume mapping as the current generic account. Is the network volume configuration saved somewhere, where I could copy that configuration across all of the user accounts?

  There is an SVN repository (single repository) http://example.net/svn The repository contains several projects (directories): http://example.net/svn/Project1 http://example.net/svn/Project2 User has full access to Project1 directory and has no access neither to root nor to Project2. Everything works fine for a while: user checks out http://example.net/svn/Project1, commits and updates it successfully. But sometimes trying to update leads to the following error: Command: Update Error: Server sent unexpected return value (403 Forbidden) in response to OPTIONS Error: request for 'http://example.net/svn' Finished! Why does TortoiseSVN request something in the root??? I have noticed that this happens after somebody else committed copy or move operation. Checking out http://example.net/svn/Project1 helps till next time... The main question: How to set up access rights for user to avoid these errors? Note, it's not an option to grant user any read or write access right on the root directory for security reasons.

  Hello I have a problem with a Fujitsu laptop. Some kid played with it and now the hdd is a wreck. I can't install Windows XP, Windows 7 or Linux. I checked with hiren's boot for bad sector did a chdisk on it says I don't have any bad sectors, on smart says is active but status error. I tried format and it worked, I tried copying files using a live CD and it worked, but when I try to install the OS it says it can't format, or it can't copy files.

• How to copy a dynamic TrueCrypt volume quickly?

  I have created a dynamic TrueCrypt volume file, set it size to 40 GiB and put about 20 GiB of files on it. When I open the volume file properties it says "Size: 40.0 GB, Size on disk: 23.0 GB". When I try to move the volume file to another physical partition it takes a lot of time as it tries to copy all the 40 GB instead of just 20 GB that the volume file actually takes. Also, when it is less than 40 GB free on the target drive it says insufficient space even though it is more than enough space considering how much does the image file actually take. How do I overcome this? Creating a new volume file on the target drive works but needless to say I'd like a better solution.

  Hi, I have a automation build server which creates nightly builds. It does this while logged off in Windows XP. This is is one domain while the server I wish to copy the builds to is in another domain (win2k3). I can't use a network share when logged off and as soon as I try to browse manually to the server it prompts for a username/password I am guessing the only way is to create a script/batch file which has a domain account and password for the server and runs at a scheduled time. If there is a more elegant way, please let me know. thanks

• Windows - Delayed Write Failed error on USB hard drive

  I've got a new Verbatim 1.5TB USB hard drive (Samsung HD154UI) and I'm finding myself completely unable to fill it. I'm using Windows XP. Whenever I try to copy a load of files over, it works for some time (will copy over between 20 and 90GB) but eventually stops with an error saying "The specified path is too deep" - the specified is not too deep, there's nothing more than 2 dirs deep that I'm copying. A balloon pops up at the bottom saying "Windows - Delayed Write Failed" telling me the data could not be copied. This wouldn't be too bad if I could just restart the transfer, but after this error has happened I can't write anything else to the disk - including if I eject it and then connect it to another machine. It just seems completely locked. The only way I can unlock it is to delete everything that I was copying to it. I've tried various USB cables and copying from different machines, and the same thing keeps happening.

• Cut in excel doesn't work, and copying tables from one program to another returns text

  My excel 2007 on Windows 7 operating system seems to have a probelm with regular cut function. when I highlight cells I want to cut and press cut (either on keyboard shortcut Ctrl+x, Home menu cut command, or from the right-click menu) cells start flashing for a split second and after that they only turn normal. When I want to paste them, they past as if copy function was used. If I try to rightclick to use function "insert cut cells" it is not one of the offered options at all. On my home computer I have same combination, Excel 2007 on windows 7 and it works just fine. COuld the problem be due to 64-bit win7 version at my job, and 32-bit version at home? Another problem is when I copy table from excel to word, in word pasting results in unformatted text instead of table as it was in excel. Did someone have such problems and can offer a solution?   I haven't yet found any definitive answer on this using google. It seems like the answer is no, but I need to know for sure before I go ahead and do it. Does ssh-copy-id append the key to authorized_keys or does it overwrite the previous keys? Thanks. Addendum: So the answer is right there in the man page. Go figure. I guess the question can at least help fellow Google-jockeys like me who get a little too used to googling and finding tutorials (that often explain things in layman's terms for us poor folks who have only used Windows our whole lives).

  I tried to put everything in the title : I'm looking for a software that is able : to work with image (raw file), partition & whole disk, without distinction to copy whole image or only selected part (let's say .. from 0 to end of last partition, excluding free space for example ; or with start + offset/end system) to handle compression (at least gzip) You recognized, I'm looking for a "dd | gzip" utility with GUI on Windows. The closest tool I found so far is http://www.dubaron.com/diskimage/ but it's a bit old and don't have compression support. Any idea ?

• Failure to copy files with ownership/ACL information on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine

  I'm attempting to copy a directory tree, maintaining its ownership information using the command: XCOPY S:\ProjectsDefault\Tempalte\admin S:\Projects\00\111\admin /S /E /I /O the command gives an Access denied error message, and while it does create the directory tree, the ownership and ACL information is not copied. This is being done on a Windows 2008 R2 Server which has mounted a share from a Windows 2003 R2 domain controller. The user has been been granted full access to the share and is a member of the Domain Admins security group. Oddly enough, the command does work if performed on a different (Windows 2003 R2 Server). (It also works if done using the Domain Administrator account on the 2008 server.)

  I have a machine built using ESXi 4.0u1 and it has 3 hard drives. I have my hosts built on different hard drives but wondering about backup options. I do not have RAID but I have 3 drives and 1 is totally empty. I had been using it to store ISOs for loading. So what options do I have to either create a 1 time copy onto the spare drive or some sort of snapshot to the spare drive? - There must be some way to do this either via the vsphere client or ssh into the ESXi box and go from there. There is no such problem in another sections of document. The one possibility how to display whole area of image is to use floating layout like the first image in presented screenshot. But this solution has disadvantage that I have to manually format image positions after changes in text before.

  Hi all, I wanna simpy exchange 3 directories to a collegue's home directory (I dont have write access to that one) from my home directory, probably using secure copy if possible. I am not good with Linux command line, so I am not sure how to do that and I would very much appreciate it if somebody could help me a bit out with this. I guess it should look something like that scp -r /home/user1/directoy1 /home/user2/directoy1 scp -r /home/user1/directoy2 /home/user2/directoy2 scp -r /home/user1/directoy3 /home/user2/directoy3 Do I need to specify the login name of my collegue so that the files can be copied when he enters his password?   I think I have the Netscape mail-directory from old computer, how do I copy it to new computer? (Netscape 7.1 Mail, Thunderbird or Seamonkey). I think I have the files in Olduserbackup\xjuwtwtb.slt\Mail I create a new mail account with server pop.superuser.com, and find a directory with that name in C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Profiles\default\ou6umlif.slt\Mail I replace the files with those from the backup, but Netscape still shows pop.superuser.com in its interface. Is there some kind of registry setting somewhere I will have to change?

  Is it possible to deny the right to copy files? I have a script which should be executable by others. They are also allowed to read the file (though it would not be a problem to forbid reading). But I don't want the script to be changed and executed. It's not a problem to set those permissions, but one could easily copy, change and run the script.   When coping a file greater than 64kB from an Ubuntu server to a CIFS mounted windows share, most of the data is copied, but it seems the last chunk doesn't get copied. The size doesn't match, and the md5 check sums don't match.   I am inserting formulae into a word table to get subtotals for rows and columns and a grand total. My problem is, I have got large number of rows and I don't want to enter the formulae manually in each cell. I cannot use =SUM(LEFT) because the subtotal does not have all the columns. So, is there any way to drag the formulae like we do in excel(bottom right corner of selected cell)? I cannot send the table to excel and copy it back because it would ruin the formatting which took a lot of my time.

  I had a user's laptop stolen recently during shipping and it was setup with windows live sync. The thief or buyer's kids took some photos of themselves and they were synced to the user's my documents. I had just finished moving the users files out of the synced my documents folder when I noticed this. Later they took some more photos and a video. I wrote up a batch script to copy files out synced directory every 5 minutes into a dated directory. In the end I ended up with a lot of copies of the same few files. Ignoring what windows livesync offers (at the time there was no way to undelete files - I've moved onto dropbox so this ins't really an issue for me) what's the best way to preserve changes and files from a directory? I'm interested in windows solutions but if you know of a good way on a *nix please go ahead and share.
