    Everytime I plug my flash drive on school. It gets infected by this regsvr.exe and many others. Even if my fd is already vaccinated by panda antivirus it still gets infected even if I'm not accessing it via the computer. I just plug it in without doing anything and it still gets infected. Is it possible to avoid it when plugging your fd to an infected computer?

    While shopping for an SSD I have noticed that some manufacturers promote their "Pro" models as the ones sporting ECC data protection. Those manufacturers do not mention ECC in their budget models descriptions. However, Wikipedia article on flash memory states that "NAND relies on ECC to compensate for bits that may spontaneously fail during normal device operation." So the question is does any SSD device use ECC behind the scenes for its normal operation and is that ECC "feature" just a marketing ploy?

  • What's the maximum size Windows 7 allows for ReadyBoost?

    I read somewhere the Windows 7 had removed the limit on ReadyBoost from 4GB and now allows an unlimited number of GBs. I would like to reconfirm this as a fact. At present, my Windows 7 RC 7100 allows me a maximum of 4GB on one of my 8GB flash drives (though I've tried to connect two at a time and use 4GB on one and 2GB on another). Thanks!

  • Is there a way to automatically keep Chrome/Ask Tool Bar from installing?

    So of lately, I've had to warn my users to watch out for unwanted programs that are coming in with Adobe Flash and Java updates. Adobe seems to be pushing Google's Chrome and Java with the Ask.com Toolbar. I admit that it could be much worse because both instance simply require an uncheck during some point of the update process, but on a large scale, prevention is better than confrontation. Any suggestions?

    Hi! A good friend recommended this site to me, it looks really useful! I'm a bit of a shameless noob at actionscript and after 3 days of tutorials and advice I've hit a brick wall. I've managed to get a sensor attached to an arduino talking to flash using something called AS3glue. it works, when i set up a trace("leaf") for the contition that the sensor reads 0, i get a printout of the word "leaf". however i want the program to make a graphic appear on the screen when this condition is met, not just trace something. I'm trying to get the program to generate a library object called "Enemy" on the screen at a random position each time the conditions are met. It's called enemy because I was following a game tutorial...actually it's a drawing of a leaf.     (Using Snow Leopard.) When I plug in a flash drive formatted with FAT32, the permissions on all files on the drive are set as 0666; between colored ls and my obsessive-compulsive nature, this is annoying. Is there any way to make it automatically mount with a different umask?

    I'm quite annoyed with my firefox and Flash files : When I try opening a .swf file with it: If the file is on the web (via http://...), it plays normally in browser If the file is local (via file:///...), firefox only show me a dialog to download it It tried opening a web swf file, downloading it then opening it locally, it's the same. So I guess it's a firefox problem. I'm on Gentoo Linux, and it started today, without any apparent reason.

    I know that linux is mostly safe from viruses, however: if you do download a windows virus (i.e., through a drive-by download), will it just sit there on your computer, and take up space? Is it unable to infect files because of the different operating system? If you transfer files between computers (by using a usb flash drive or through online file sharing), is there any risk that the virus could be transferred to windows and activate?

  • How can ShadowProtect SBS backup to alternating external drives?

    I am trying to configure ShadowProtect SBS (v. 4.1.5.10129) in Windows Server 2003 SBS to backup my server hard drives to two alternating external drives. What I want is to be able to swap one drive for another every Friday, and have ShadowProtect continue on the same schedule. Ideally, this would require absolutely no user interaction whatsoever, apart from physically unplugging one drive and reconnecting the other. The trouble is, Windows Server 2003 does not allow you to assign the same drive letter to two different devices. So if I plug in drive #1 and assign it drive letter "X:", the next week when I unplug it and plug in drive #2, it gets some other letter. But since ShadowProtect is set to backup to "X:\", it can't find it and the backup fails. The drives are Samsung STORY Station 3.0 2TB drives. How can I configure things so I can just swap the drives over every week and not worry about having to reconfigure drive letters every time?
