    I'm implementing iphone app with coredata functionality. I've an attribute in entity "NSDate" which stores the date and time when the record is added. I'm adding records at a faster rate. About 1 record per 25 milli seconds I want to store the date along with milli seconds so that I can retrieve the data in descending order. How can I do this?

  • Silverlight and Encryption, how to store/generate they key/iv pair?

    I have a Silverlight app that connects to a php webservice. I want to encrypt the communication between the webservice and the Silverlight client. I'm not relying on SSL. I'm encrypting/decrypting the POST string myself using AES 256bit Key and IV. The big questions then are: How do I generate a random unique key/iv pair in PHP. How do I share this key/iv pair between the web service and silverlight client in a secure way. It seems impossible without having some kind of hard coded key or iv on the client. Which would compromise security. This is a public website, there are no logins. Just the requirement of secure communication. I can hard code the seed for the key/iv (which is hashed with SHA256 with a time stamp salt and then assigned as the key or iv) in PHP source code, that's on the server so that is pretty safe. However on the client the seed for the key/iv pair would be visible, if it is hard coded. Further more using a time stamp as the basis for uniqueness/randomness is definitely not ok, since timestamps are predictable. It does however provide a common factor between the C# code and the PHP code. The only other option that I can think of would be to have a 3rd service involved that provides the key/iv to the Silverlight client, as well as the php webservice. This of course start the cycle anew, with the question of how to store the credentials for accessing the key/iv distribution service on the Silverlight client. Sounds like the solution is then asymmetric encryption, since sensitive data will be viewed only on the administrative back end of the website. Unfortunately Silverlight has no asymmetric encryption classes. The solution? Roll my own Diffie-Hellman key exchange! Plug that key into AES256!

  • How to prevent duplicate records being inserted with SqlBulkCopy when there is no primary key

    I receive a daily XML file that contains thousands of records, each being a business transaction that I need to store in an internal database for use in reporting and billing. I was under the impression that each day's file contained only unique records, but have discovered that my definition of unique is not exactly the same as the provider's. The current application that imports this data is a C#.Net 3.5 console application, it does so using SqlBulkCopy into a MS SQL Server 2008 database table where the columns exactly match the structure of the XML records. Each record has just over 100 fields, and there is no natural key in the data, or rather the fields I can come up with making sense as a composite key end up also having to allow nulls. Currently the table has several indexes, but no primary key. Basically the entire row needs to be unique. If one field is different, it is valid enough to be inserted. I looked at creating an MD5 hash of the entire row, inserting that into the database and using a constraint to prevent SqlBulkCopy from inserting the row,but I don't see how to get the MD5 Hash into the BulkCopy operation and I'm not sure if the whole operation would fail and roll back if any one record failed, or if it would continue. The file contains a very large number of records, going row by row in the XML, querying the database for a record that matches all fields, and then deciding to insert is really the only way I can see being able to do this. I was just hoping not to have to rewrite the application entirely, and the bulk copy operation is so much faster. Does anyone know of a way to use SqlBulkCopy while preventing duplicate rows, without a primary key? Or any suggestion for a different way to do this?

    Hello, I have a class mapped as an Entity to persist it in a database. I have an id field as the primary key so every time the object is persisted the value of the id is retrieved from the sequence "myClass_pk_seq", a code like the following one. @Entity @Table(name="myObjects") public class MyClass { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator="sequence") @SequenceGenerator(name="sequence", sequenceName="myClass_pk_seq", allocationSize=1) @Column(name="myClassId") private Integer id; ... } I need to get the next value of the sequence myClass_pk_seq to reserve that value (get the next value of the sequence and the current value is incremented), but without saving the object.     I currently have a Ubuntu Server 12.04 running OpenSSH along with Samba and a few other services. At the current time I have public key authentication set up, and I'm wondering if it's possible to set up two factor authentication? I've been looking at Google Authenticator which I currently use with my Gmail account. I've found a PAM module that looks like it will be compatible however it seems that you are forced to use a password and the code generated. I'm wondering if there is a way to use the Google Authenticator Application (or something similar) along with my public key to authenticate into my SSH server?

To associate multiple directors with a movie, I have the following schema: movie(m_ID, ....) m_director(dirID, dirName)//dirID is a autoincrement primary key m_directs(dirID, m_ID) //dirID, m_ID are set as foreign Keys in the mysql database(InnoDB engine) I have a program that connects to the db that needs to add a movie to the database. I can easily add a new entry to the movie table and the m_director table, but I am having trouble adding a entry in the m_directs table. INSERT INTO m_director (dirName) VALUES("Jason Reitman"); INSERT INTO m_directs (dirID, m_ID) VALUES(LAST_INSERT_ID(), "tt0467406"); I am using this sql statement to insert a new director and add the association to the movie. I know the primary key of the movie, but I don't know the dirID, so I use LAST_INSERT_ID() to get the last id of the director just inserted. The problem I am having is that I get the following error: MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException (0x80004005): Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (`siteproducts`. `m_directs`, CONSTRAINT `m_directs_ibfk_2` FOREIGN KEY (`dirID`) REFERENCES `m_directs` (`dirID`) ON DELETE CASCADE ON UPDATE CASCADE) Any ideas?

  • android keylistener losing key taps

    I am using a keylistener to get key taps. The problem is that once you tap the delete key, the next key tap is not registering. The key tap after that keeps working. If I tap 2 deletes in a row, they work, just no other keys. They just disappear. I put in a log test before the "if (keycode" section and it shows nothing after the first delete is pressed, unless it is another delete.     I want to get more combos in Emacs, so I tried to bind Alt, Super, Hyper via modmap to keys. I failed at it. So I tried to use xdotool. I started emacs -Q for clean experiment. Pressed C-hC-c and executed in other terminal: xdotool key --window 119537875 "meta+x" xdotool key --window 119537875 "alt+x" Both commands resulted in M-x runs the command execute-extended-command. So, Emacs do not differ between Alt and Meta. How can I fix it?

In NSUserDefaults, CFPreferences or is there a way to retrieve it out of the keychain along with the password.   • planar shadow matrix and plane b value

    I implemented planar shadows with the function D3DXMatrixShadow. As you know, we need plane and light factor to calculate a shadow matrix. The problem is that when I set the plane as D3DXPLANE p(0, -1, 0, 0.1f), the shadows by directional light are correctly rendered, but the shadows by point light are not rendered. However, if I use D3DXPLANE p(0, 1, 0, 0.1f), the situation is reversed, shadows by directional light are not drawn, the shadows by point light are ok. I cannot understand why it happens. Is it normal or am i missing something? Please explain to me why this happens. Thanks in advance.

Now this was achieved very easily using .load but I want the data to be present in a JavaScript variable rather than put it on the page (div tags, etc.), so that I can work upon that data (modify or add to database).
