  • How to access shared folders from file editors?

    I am running a xampp server on one of my other computers, and when using the brows functionality from text editors like gedit, bluefish and Eclipse/Aptana studio I can access the shares I made for the sites running on the server. Even when I right click-edit with-application with the the file browser it does not open the file in the editor. How can get this to work without having to copy the file over from the share then edit and then upload again after I am done? Similar issue when trying to upload a file to hosting server direct from the file server I have with filezilla. with this I also need to copy the file over to my pc and then from there upload to the hosting server with filezilla. EDIT: For eclipse I found a build in functionality to do this. (new-remote system connection-Enter the access details) Nothing yet on FileZilla Hope my Question is clear

    The Apache instalation of MacOSX is running Ok. I have tried to create a VirtualHost called test.local, but as soon as I uncomment from /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf the line Include /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf , and try to access test.local virtualhost I get an error "You don't have permission to access / on this server".   • Migrate reports from MS Access to OOo Base

    I'm currently looking at upgrading our office machines from Office XP to Office 2010. For most users the standard edition is fine but just a few of us use Access. There are only a couple of standalone Access databases but the program is used fairly extensively (mostly by myself) as a front end to MySQL. As the cost different between standard and pro versions of Office 2010 is about $170 (AUD) I'm looking at possible alternatives to Access. I'm no huge fan of Open Office but could be convinced to use it if I can find a way to migrate the many reports we currently have in Access. The data is not a problem. So far I've found nothing to suggest this is even possible/practical but perhaps someone here knows otherwise. I'm also open to suggestions for other alternatives to Access but it must be able to produce flexible reports easily. That is the one real strength of Access in my view. Because of its subjective nature I'm making this community wiki.

  • Can't access local network when connect to pppoe

    I am using DSL(PPPOE) connection in ubuntu. It has two part (I am not sure), when I just connect the cable, system automatically get an IP address started with 172.x.x.x(DHCP). When I connect using username/password (PPPOE) I get another IP started with 10.x.x.x and can access internet but can't access some local IP (in my LAN), which are some FTP, media server provided by my ISP. I complained about that to my ISP but they reply Windows is working It's true, Windows 7 is working fine with this settings. I can access internet and local server at the same time. Also I use a WIFI router (TP-link TL-WR340G/TL-WR340GD) which result the same problem. So when I connect cable directly to system and use Windows 7 than everything is fine. Otherwise problem. Similar problem discussed here.   • What's next for all of these Microsoft "overlapping" and "enhanced" products ?

    Recently I attended a road show, organised by MS Gold Partner company in the UK. The products discussed were: SharePoint server (2010 and 2007), Exchange server, Office Communication Server 2007, Exchange hosted services Office Live meeting, Office Communicator, System Center Configuration Manager and Operation Manager, VMware, Windows 7 etc. As Microsoft claims the enhancement in the each product against higher version, I felt that clients are not much interested in all these details. For example Office Communicator, surely they have improved a lot the product and first site all said 'WOW' great product, but nobody wish to pay money for all these extra features. Some argued, they are bogged down by all these increased number of menus. They don't need soft call feature included with mobile call. It apply for all other products as well such as MS office (next what 2 ribbons ?), windows OS and many more. Indeed there must be good features in all these products, but is it worth to spend money and time to update the older system ? Also sometimes these feature will decrease the productivity instead increase it. *So do you think what ever enhancement MS is doing in the products is only for selling purpose, not a real use ?? and I think also keep the developer busy learning the new tools and features. * I am sure some some people here will argue that some people need this sort of features. But I am not talking about NASA or MI5 guys. I am talking of usual businesses and joe public. Any ideas welcome.

  • Can connect to shared folder on Windows Server 2012, but access denied when accessing

    I have a Windows Server 2012 (non-domain) with a folder that's shared out as TestShare. The share permissions are Everyone has full access, and there is a local user TestUser that has full access to the actual folder. On GuestServer I can connect and/or map a drive to \HostServer\TestShare, specifying the username and password for TestUser. NTFS permissions: Share permissions Effective Access Report The problem is that when I try to access the folder, I get an "access denied" message. On the host server I can see the user connected to the share in the Sessions manager, so the password is correct and being recognised. If I use an incorrect password I don't get the "completed successfully" message, nor the 'open session'. What else can be blocking access to the shared files, when the share seems to be set, and the folder permissions seem to be set, and the connection seems to be okay? The network is recognised as "public", and the relevant firewall rules seem to be enabled - even disabling the firewall doesn't help.

  • Are Intel compilers really better than Microsoft ones?

    Years ago I was surprised when discovered that Intel sells Studio compatible compilers. I tried it in particular for C/C++ as well as fantastic diagnostic tools. But the code was simply not that computationally intensive to notice the difference. The only impression was: did Intel really did it for me just now, Wow, amazing tools with nanoseconds resolution, unbeleivable. But the trial ended and team never seriously considered a purchase. From your experience, if license cost does not matter, which vendor is a winner ? It is not broad or vague question or attemt to spark a holy war. This sort of question about 2 very visible tools. Nobody likes when tools have any mysteries or surprises. And choices between best and best are always the pain. I also understand the "grass greener" argument. I want to hear all "what ifs" stories. What if Intel just locally optimizes it for the chip stepping of the month, and not every hardware target will actually work as well as Microsoft compiled ? What if AMD hardware is the target and everything will slow down for no reason ? Or on other hand, what if Intel's hardware has so many unnoticable opportunities, that Microsoft compiler writers are too slow to adopt and never implement in the compiler ? What if both are the same exactly, actually a single codebase just wrapped into 2 different boxes and licensed to both vendors by some 3rd party shop? And so on. But someone knows some answers.

  • Update Since Microsoft/PSC Office Open XML Case Study

    In 2009 Microsoft released a case study about a project that we had done using the OOXML SDK 1.0 for Research Directors Inc.  Since that time Microsoft has released version 2.0 of the SDK and PSC has done significant development with it.  Below are some of the mile stones we have reached since the original case study. At the time of the original case study two report types had been automated to output as PowerPoint presentations.  Now that the all the main products have been delivered we have added three reports with Word document outputs and five more reports with PowerPoint outputs. One improvement we made over the original application was to create a PowerPoint Add-In which allows the users to tag a slide.  These tags along with the strongly typed SDK 2.0 allows for the code to use LINQ to easily search for slides in the template files.  This allows for a more flexible architecture base on assembling a presentation from copied slide extracted from the template. The new library we created also enabled us to create two new Word based reports in two weeks.  The library we created abstracts the generation of the documents from the business logic and the data retrieval.  The key to this is the mark up.  Content Controls are a good method for identifying sections of a template to be modified or replaced.  Join this with the concept of all data being generically either scalar or two dimensional and the code becomes more generic.     Hello all, I've been trying to install MoinMoin -wiki on this webserver, where I have no root access. The server doesn't support wsgi, but it does support cgi/fcgi/etc. I've scoured google for a simple guide on how to accomplish this, but the only guides I found were from the year 2004 or so. Other guides always assumed that one has root access. So can anyone link a good tutorial for my question or just help me out here? Your help is appreciated :) P.S.   • Cisco PIX 515 doesn't seem to be passing traffic through according to static route

    Ok, so I am having a spot of bother with a Cisco PIX515, I have posted the current running config below, now I am no cisco expert by any means although I can do basic stuff with them, now I am having trouble with traffic sent from the outside to address: 10.75.32.25 it just doesn't appear to be going anywhere. Now this firewall is deep inside a private network, with an upstream firewall that we don't manage. I have spoken to the people that look after that firewall and they say they they have traffic routing to 10.75.32.21 and 10.75.32.25 and thats it (although there is a website that runs from the server 172.16.102.5 which (if my understanding is correct) gets traffic via 10.75.32.23. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as to me it should all just work, but its not (obviously if the config is all correct then there could be a problem with the web server that we are trying to   • No client internet access when setting up these iptables rules

    I have read many other posts but cannot figure this out. eth0 is my external connected to a Comcast modem. The server has internet access with no issues. eth1 is internal and running DHCP for the clients. I have DHCP working just fine, all my clients can get an IP and ping the server but they cannot access the internet.   • Get access to files on old HD installation and remove system files

    I have been fooling with ubuntu for only a year or so. Added SSD installed ubuntu(12.04 64bit) connected old drive with ubuntu on it. everything seems to work well, except for access to some files. I would like to do two things: 1) move the swap file from the SSD to the partition on the HD. 2) remove ubuntu system files and gain full access to my other files. I can still remove the SSD and run ubuntu from the HD, so if I am approaching this incorrectly please advise. Thanks in advance Blake

Specifically, we are working on new debugger functionality, integrated with Visual Studio (we are starting work on the next version), aimed to address HPC and GPGPU scenarios (and continuing the Parallel Debugging scenarios we started addressing with VS2010).   • Controlling access to site folders if you cannot user Roles

  • How to Access Boot Options 12.04 Live USB

    I'm attempting to install 12.04 on my computer but booting from my USB drive results in a blank screen. This has happened since 10.04 and has always been fixed by putting nomodeset in the boot command, but now I can't access the boot options with F6 for some reason. How can I access the boot options? I booted into the live image on a different computer and it worked fine. I'm sure it's because of my Nvidia graphics. When I boot into the live image it shows a small gray box in the lower left corner of the screen and that's it. I can't edit the boot options or do anything else. Thanks in advance.

  • Dual Boot: access Mac OS HD folders from Ubuntu

    I did it!!! I'm right now writting from Ubuntu 11.10 installed in my MacBook Pro using Dual Boot!!! THe only thing is, how can I now access my Mac folders? From Ubuntu if I try to open Music, Documents or any of those folders related to the Mac user I get the following: [The folder contents could not be displayed. You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "Music"] I can access them if I run Nautilus from root (gksudo nautilus), but I would like to just be able to browse those folders.   • Unable to access the server via SSH?

    when I am trying to access the server through ssh it says: ssh: connect to host xx.yyy.zzz.x port 22: Connection refused and on the server in auth.log it shows following log entry: Address xx.yyy.zzz.x maps to xx.yyy.zzz.x.static-pune-vsnl.net.in, but this does not map back to the address - POSSIBLE BREAK-IN ATTEMPT! I have created a user account for that user and it is also in enabled status. Requested info It is Ubuntu 11.10 It is configured as SSH Server using openssh-server I am trying to connect to this server using Putty from Windows 7 i.e. My Desktop I have also asked this in superuser as per the request of @zpletan and link to that question is given below. http://superuser.com/questions/408080/unable-to-access-the-server-via-ssh Thanks in advance.
