• .NET WebService Custom Attribute

  I would like to add a custom attribute to a asmx web service to determine if the request is valid based on the client IP address. This is a similar idea to the AuthorizeAttribute in ASP.NET MVC. Is there anywhere (e.g. a HTTP module) I can put the code to look at the attribute on the webservice and decide whether to allow the request or not? In my web.config the handler for asmx is the ScriptHandlerFactory from the System.Web.Extensions dll. I have already implemented the functionality with a HTTP module and a config file with a list of allowed URLs, but I would prefer to get rid of the config file and just add an attribute to the webservice class.   Python noob trying to learn Pylons. I'm using the QuickWiki tutorial (http://pylonshq.com/docs/en/1.0/tutorials/quickwiki_tutorial/) from the 1.0 documentation, but this alleged "1.0" doc seems to just be "0.9.7"; I suspect that this has something to do with the error I'm getting.   I've just read "Injecting Custom Logic in ADO.NET Data Services" and my next question is, How do you get your [WebGet] method to show up in the client-side proxy classes? Sure, I can call this directly (RESTfully) with, say, WebClient but I thought the strong typing features in ADO.NET Data Services would "hide" this from me auto-magically. • How to modify by loading and saving the same xml file

  I have a problem with modifying xml file when i first load and then save it with same file path and name. Below is my code. The error is "Access to the path C:\MyApp\Web.config is denied. If i change the path of the xdoc.Save to be different from xdoc.Load, then it will be ok. What is your recommandation to solve this problem? If possible, i need to modify the existing xml file(meaning xml file for loading and saving is the same path). • Best Installation Software?

  I am interested in knowing what the best software would be to build an installation package that performs the following: (1) Installs client application (2) Detects all SQL server instances on network, allowing user to select specific database to upgrade (which would then upgrade database using an embedded SQL script) (3) Installs website on a server/location specified by user, and configures IIS 6.0 and/or 7.0 based on settings that I specify. (4) Creates a simple setup.exe - and allows user to choose installation components (listed above, i.e install client app, sql server database, and/or website), and then download selected components from remove server. I have tried NSIS - as was able to create an installation package that will download a compressed (gzip) component from a remote server, decompress the file, install the components, and then remove the gzip file. So, this worked beautifully. The part where I am stuck is to be able to perform the database upgrade and website install. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. Chris

  Hi, I use the Searchable plugin with Grails I have the need to change the directory to which Compass points to, depending upon a UI choice by the user. Normally, this value is set in the compassConnection variable of the searchable map in grails-app/conf/Searchable.groovy, like so, and gets called at app startup time: searchable { compassConnection = new File( "/path/to/index/file/directory" ).absolutePath ... } To do what I need to do, I think that I need to get a handle into the compass config variable and then call config.setConnection("/new/path/to/index/dir") I don't know how I can get a reference to the config compass variable Am I right in assuming that I need to call setConnection(String) only, or is(are) there any other step(s) I need to take? Really appreciate any help that I can get, Shailen

  Hi, I've been using PGU(Phil's Pygame Utilities) for a while. It has a dictionary called tdata, which is passed as an argument while loading tiles tdata = { tileno:(agroup, hit_handler, config)} I'm making a pacman clone in which I have 2 groups : player and ghost, for which I want to collision detection with the same type of tile. For example, if the tile no is 2, I want this tile to have agroups as both player and ghost. I tried doing the following: tdata = {0x02 :('player', tile_hit_1, config), 0x02 : ('ghost', tile_hit_2, config)} However, on doing this, it only gives collision detection for ghost, not the player. Any ideas on how I can do collision detection for both the player and the ghost with the same type of tile?

  I have successfully installed the Clearance Gem from ThoughtBot. Clearance sends a confirmation email upon a new sign_up and suggests adding: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => 'localhost:3000' } to your /environments/test.rb and development.rb. I have tried this and also config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => '127.0.0.1', :port => 3000 } But can't seem to get rails to send the email. As I am new to both Ruby and Rails, I am wondering if there is some step/config that ThoughtBot is assuming I have already done to send emails. What am I doing wrong/missing? • Can't create flex4 project in flexbuilder using remoting or LiveCycle Data Servcies ES

  I'm trying out the FlasBuilder ide with ColdFusion 8 on OS X. When I try to create a new project, I get stuck at the server setup screen that forces you to validate your paths for your ColdFusion root folder and your webroot. Every combination I try says either "LiveCycle Data Services is not installed at the specified location" or "Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml." The flex-config.xml file is sitting in that directory. Is there some trick to getting this to work?

  I'm new to CodeIgniter and routing. I have a Login controller whose index() loads up a view to enter a username/password. In the view, the form has action="login/authenticate". Login-authenticate() determines if the login is valid or not. If it's valid, redirect('lobby'), if not redirect('login') routes.php: $route['default_controller'] = "login" config.php: $config['base_url'] = "http://localhost/dts/"; $config['index_page'] = "index.php"; The problem is that when i go to http://localhost/dts/ , click login, I am correctly (?) redirected to http://localhost/dts/login/authenticate but the browser says Object not found!. But when I go to http://localhost/dts/index.php/ (with trailing slash), it works correctly (I get redirected to http://localhost/dts/index.php/login/authenticate, and am logged in) I tried removing "index.php" by using a .htaccess: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|robots\.txt) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] and it would no longer open even the http://localhost/dts/ I'm confused.. what's going on?

  Hi there, How can I make my static-file root directories relative to my application root folder (instead of a hard-coded path)? In accordance with CP instructions (http://www.cherrypy.org/wiki/StaticContent) I have tried the following in my configuration file: tree.cpapp = cherrypy.Application(cpapp.Root()) tools.staticdir.root = cpapp.current_dir but when I run cherrpy.quickstart(rootclass, script_name='/', config=config_file) I get the following error builtins.ValueError: ("Config error in section: 'global', option: 'tree.cpapp', value: 'cherrypy.Application(cpapp.Root())'. Config values must be valid Python.", 'TypeError', ("unrepr could not resolve the name 'cpapp'",)) I know I can do configuration from within the main.py file just before quickstart is called (eg. using os.path.abspath(os.path.dirname(file))), but I prefer using the idea of a separate configuration file if possible. • Git push won't do anything (Everything up-to-date)

  I'm trying to update a git repository on github. I made a bunch of changes, added them, committed then attempted to do a git push. The response tells me that everything is up to date, but clearly it's not. git remote show origin responds with the repository I'd expect. Why is git telling me the repository is up to date when there are local commits that aren't visible on the repository?   What I'd like to be able to do is: in config/routes.rb resources :posts in config/locale/en.yml en: resources: posts: "posts" new: "new" edit: "edit" in config/locale/tr.yml tr: resources: posts: "yazilar" new: "yeni" edit: "duzenle" and get I18n.locale = :en edit_post_path(3) #=> /posts/3/edit I18n.locale = :tr edit_post_path(3) #=> /yazilar/3/duzenle I'd also like rails to match any of these routes anytime and pass the associated locale in the params hash such that when I navigate to /yazilar , the request should be routed to the posts#index action. • Notepad++ Associate custom ext for use by ctags

  Hi, I use .pkb and pkh extensions for PL/SQL files (rather than .sql). I have already associated .pkb and .pkh extension in the langs.xml (Styler Config) so that Notepad++ recognizes the syntax highlight to use when I open pkb and pkh files (the syntax highlighting would be the same as for sql ext). Now the problem is that I cannot use plugins that parse code using ctags (like SourceCookifier, OpenCtag,GtagSearch) because these plugins do not recognize the pkb and pkh extension. THe only way I could use them is to change my file to sql and when done change to the pkh or pkb ext. Is there any config that could make ctags based plugin work with non-sql ext? I tried changing various config for the plugins but did not succeed in making them work. Thanks.

  Hi, I'm looking for a good non-interactive, command line FTP client to be run from a Rakefile. Like Weex, but better. Weex has different problems (for me): It stores its config file in my home dir. I want the FTP config to be part of my project and weex doesn't have a --config-file option or something. The behavior of ignoring files seems to be completely buggy. It doesn't remove files which it should, it doesn't let me specify relative paths, even though I do it according to the man page's instructions, etc. I've been struggling with it for an hour now and it is just completely inexplicable. I tried running rsync over FTPFS/FUSE, but that is dead slow because FTP doesn't store mtimes, which makes rsync diff every file. Plus, there are some refresh problems and other bugs that cause access failure (http://bugs.gentoo.org/208168). I'm stuck with FTP, unfortunately. Any help is appreciated.

• [StructureMap] Xml configuration or Configuration through code?

  I personally like the option to configure StructureMap from C# code. From what I understand, one of the advantages of DI, is that we can easily swap in a new concrete instance. But, if the configuration is defined in code, then the concrete instances are hardcoded in the dll. So, practically, its as good as having hard coded the dependencies, right? I know, during testing it makes life easier... My point is, wouldnt it be better to use xml configuration instead? you want to plugin a new concrete instance? simply have your installer overwrite the structuremap.config file with the new one. So, what is the preferred way to configure StructureMap? Extra: Am forced to use C# configuration for the time being because I dont know how to pass the connection string to instance. I can write the connectionstring in the config file, but i would like to reuse the connectionstring defined in app.config.

  Hi guys, I was just curious as to what the rule of thumb was for models. Generally, I use them only for situations where I need to add/edit or update database entries for an object. However, I'm building an app at the moment that has a "config" table which holds various data, such as last updated, which will control when certain features in the app should be displayed. In this instance, I will mostly need to retrieve data from the config table. Is it worth putting these config methods in model? I'm interested to hear how more experienced coders approach the MVC methodology in CI - example pseudo methods (e.g., what methods relating to the same object you'd use in the model and the controller) would be most helpful.

  Okay, I realize there are many questions relating to this error, I have read several questions and answers without resolving my problem. I have a MVC site that I'm trying to debug on local IIS web server. I check the option to use local IIS in the project properties and I've created a virtual directory in IIS. The error I get in Visual Studio is: Unable to start debugging on web server. In IIS i try browse the site but get the error: Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions Config File \?\C:\Users\Mike\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\MvcApplication1\MvcApplication1\web.config I've set permissions for the pool identity on the web.config and whole project folder. I've tried localsystem identity, no luck! Please help me resolve this. I've spent several hours trying to fix this.

• Is there a way to force HTTPS protocol in a Kohana 2.3 site?

  I've got a site built on top of Kohana 2.3 which I now have to make all links https. I set this in application/config/config.php. $config['site_protocol'] = 'https'; This makes all links on the site use the https protocol. Except, when I first enter the site via http, it will not automatically forward to https. Is there a way to make Kohana do this, or do I just need to do some custom coding?   This batch file releases a build from TEST to LIVE. I want to add a check constraint in this file that ensures there is an accomanying release document in a specific folder. There is a version.txt file in the \testserver\testapp$ folder and the only contents of this file is the build number (eg 45 - for build 45) How do I read the contents of the version.txt file into a variable in the batch file? How do I check if a file \fileserver\myapp\releasedocs\ {build}.doc exists using the variable from part 1 in place of {build}?
