  • Help with iphone button pressed

    - by StealthRT
    I am trying to see which button was clicked on so I can preform the correct logic. This is the code for the buttons: UIButton *button = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(270, 423, 60, 60)]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonPressedAction:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [button setBackgroundImage:[[UIImage imageNamed:@"refreshicon.png"] stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:10.0 topCapHeight:0.0] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; UIButton *button2 = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 423, 60, 60)]; [button2 addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonPressedAction:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [button2 setBackgroundImage:[[UIImage imageNamed:@"login.png"] stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:10.0 topCapHeight:0.0] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [self.navigationController.view addSubview:button]; [self.navigationController.view addSubview:button2]; And this is how I call the buttonPressedAction: - (void)buttonPressedAction:(id)sender { NSLog(@"%@", [sender value]); isRefreshing = TRUE; [self loadTheXML]; [self.tableView reloadData]; } But when I use NSLog to see what the sender value is, it crashes. Any advice for what's happening and how to correct it?

  • Implementing A Static NSOutlineView

    - by spamguy
I'm having a hard time scraping together enough snippets of knowledge to implement an NSOutlineView with a static, never-changing structure defined in an NSArray. This link has been great, but it's not helping me grasp submenus. I'm thinking they're just nested NSArrays, but I have no clear idea. Let's say we have an NSArray inside an NSArray, defined as NSArray *subarray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"2.1", @"2.2", @"2.3", @"2.4", @"2.5", nil]; NSArray *ovStructure = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"1", subarray, @"3", nil]; The text is defined in outlineView:objectValueForTableColumn:byItem:. - (id)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)ov objectValueForTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn byItem:(id)ovItem { if ([[[tableColumn headerCell] stringValue] compare:@"Key"] == NSOrderedSame) { // Return the key for this item. First, get the parent array or dictionary. // If the parent is nil, then that must be root, so we'll get the root // dictionary. id parentObject = [ov parentForItem:ovItem] ? [ov parentForItem:ovItem] : ovStructure; if ([parentObject isKindOfClass:[NSArray class]]) { // Arrays don't have keys (usually), so we have to use a name // based on the index of the object. NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", ovItem]); //return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Item %d", [parentObject indexOfObject:ovItem]]; return (NSString *) [ovStructure objectAtIndex:[ovStructure indexOfObject:ovItem]]; } } else { // Return the value for the key. If this is a string, just return that. if ([ovItem isKindOfClass:[NSString class]]) { return ovItem; } else if ([ovItem isKindOfClass:[NSDictionary class]]) { return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d items", [ovItem count]]; } else if ([ovItem isKindOfClass:[NSArray class]]) { return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d items", [ovItem count]]; } } return nil; } The result is '1', '(' (expandable), and '3'. NSLog shows the array starting with '(', hence the second item. Expanding it causes a crash due to going 'beyond bounds.' I tried using parentForItem: but couldn't figure out what to compare the result to. What am I missing?

  • drawRect context Error

    - by user361228
Hi, I heard that a lot of people get a context error by not using drawRect Now I have this: - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { NSLog(@"drawRect: Starts"); CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextSetRGBStrokeColor(context, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0); CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 3.0); CGContextMoveToPoint(context, lineStart.x, lineStart.y); CGContextAddLineToPoint(context, lineEnd.x, lineEnd.y); CGContextStrokePath(context); } Error: <Error>: CGContextSetRGBStrokeColor: invalid context Which had work on previous programs, but not on this one. Whats different: I have a view controller, which calls this UIView: -(void)createLine:(CGPoint)start:(CGPoint)end { NSLog(@"createLine: Starts"); lineEnd = start; lineStart = end; self = [super initWithFrame:drawRect:CGRectMake(fmin(lineStart.x, lineEnd.x), fmin(lineStart.y, lineEnd.y), fabs(lineStart.x - lineEnd.x), fabs(lineStart.y - lineEnd.y))]; } This is my first question, and I am not sure how much info code I should be putting here so be easy on me :D Thanks

  • Detecting iPhone camera orientation

    - by Stephen Petschulat
I'm getting inconsistent results depending on whether I get the image directly from the camera in the callback or choosing it from the camera roll. In the UIImagePickerControllerDelegate callback method, the UIImage.imageOrientation comes up as UIImageOrientationRight no matter how the photo is taken. When reading it off the Camera Roll, a landscape shot (turned left) comes up UIImageOrientationUp while a portrait shot comes up UIImageOrientationRight. How can I reliably get the camera orientation in both situations?

  • Application get crash while using NSAutoreleasepool inside MKMapview regionDidChangeAnimated method

    - by Ram
Hi, i am working on a map application, in that i like to drop the pins (as in Zillow apps) when ever user change the map view. I am using following code code. i am try to load the xml data from server using NSAutoreleasepool to do the xml parsing in the background thread. (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView regionDidChangeAnimated:(BOOL)animated{ NSLog(@"inside region did changed "); urlString =[NSString stringWithFormat: @"http://asdfasdasdf.com/asdfasdf/mapxml.php]; [stories1 release]; [mapview removeAnnotations:eventPoints1]; eventPoints1 = [[NSMutableArray array] retain]; [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(callParsing) withObject:nil]; } -(void)callParsing{ NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; [self parseXMLFileAtURL:urlString]; [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(droppingPin) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:YES]; [pool drain]; } The above code is working fine, but once i changed the mapview, the appllication get crashed. Anyone can help me to fix the issue? thanks in advance.

  • How to do iPad Photos app pinch to expand

    - by Macatomy
I don't think this has been asked before on this site, but I might be wrong. Does anyone know the basics of how to get that whole effect with the iPad Photos app? Basically, pinching a stack of photos lets you have a "peek" at the photos in that stack, which expands based on the distance between your 2 fingers in the pinch, then fully completing the outwards pinch gesture opens the photos in the stack in a new view. See this video to get what I mean. I know of at least one third party app that uses the same method as the iPad Photo app, so I know it's possible to do. I'm guessing I would do something with UIPinchGestureRecognizer but I'm not sure exactly how to proceed.

  • How to clip the contents of a custom NSView?

    - by Paperflyer
I have a custom NSView that displays a nice scale/ruler. I am drawing text labels that are partly outside the actual drawing area so they get clipped by the view (looks nice). Now, I want to introduce empty side margins into the view and need to clip its content manually. How can I set up a custom clipping rectangle?

  • How can I use Web Services Core to send a complex type as a parameter to a SOAP API method

    - by Matthew Brindley
    I don't do much Cocoa programming, so I'm probably missing something obvious, so please excuse the basic question. I have a SOAP method that expects a complex type as a paramater. Here's some WSDL: <s:element name="SaveTestResult"> <s:complexType> <s:sequence> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="result" type="tns:TestItemResponse" /> </s:sequence> </s:complexType> </s:element> Here's the definition of the complex type "TestItemResponse": <s:complexType name="TestItemResponse"> <s:sequence> <s:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="TestItemRequestId" type="s:int" /> <s:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="ExternalId" type="s:int" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="ApiId" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="InboxGuid" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="SpamResult" type="tns:SpamResult" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="ResultImageSet" type="tns:ResultImageSet" /> <s:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="ExclusiveUseMailAccountId" type="s:int" /> <s:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="State" type="tns:TestItemResponseState" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="ErrorShortDescription" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="ErrorFullDescription" type="s:string" /> </s:sequence> </s:complexType> I've been using Web Services Core to call a SOAP API method that requires a simple string param, that works great. That same method returns a complex type which WSC converted into nested NSDictionaries, so no problems there. So I assumed I'd be able to convert my local TestItemResponse class into an NSDictionary and then use that as the complex type param. It almost worked, but unfortunately WSC set the object's type as "Dictionary", instead of "TestItemResponse", and the server complained. <TestItemResponse xsi:type=\"SOAP-ENC:Dictionary\"> <ErrorFullDescription xsi:type=\"xsd:string\">foo</ErrorFullDescription> ... I can't seem to find anything that allows you to override the type WSC assigns to the element in the SOAP XML. I've been using code adapted from here, I'm happy to list it, it's just quite long and this is already the longest SO question I've ever posted.

  • By using " editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath " method , " didSelectRowAtIndexPath " method is not calle

    - by Madan Mohan
    Hi, the delegate method not called -(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [theTableView setEditing:TRUE animated:TRUE]; } -(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete; } by calling the above the methods i will get minus component before each cell in table view. But the below method didSelectRowAtIndexPath is not called and disclouser indicator is not in visible. (void )tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { [theTableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; ContactEditViewCotroller *contactEditViewCotroller=[[ContactEditViewCotroller alloc]init]; contactEditViewCotroller.isEdit=isEdit; if(isEdit == YES) { for(int i=0; i<=[editObject.contactList count]-1;i++) { if(indexPath.section == i) { appDelegate.isAddInEdit=NO; editcontacts = [editObject.contactList objectAtIndex:i]; contactEditViewCotroller.editcontacts=editcontacts; indexRow=i; } } } else { for(int i=0; i<=[addContactList count]-1;i++) { if(indexPath.section == i) { appDelegate.isAddInEdit=NO; Contacts *obj = [addContactList objectAtIndex:i]; contactEditViewCotroller.addcontacts=obj; } } } [[self navigationController] pushViewController:contactEditViewCotroller animated:YES]; [contactEditViewCotroller release]; }

  • ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab) problem

    - by prathumca
Why the call to ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab); is giving the problem? I have around 2000 contacts in my address book. When my app gets started I'm trying to read the entire address book. This works perfectly on simulator but causing crash on IPhone. The crash report is pointing to 9 AppSupport 0x31fbca1e 0x31fb6000 + 27166 // CPRecordStoreGetCountOfInstancesOfClassWhere + 0x7e 10 AddressBook 0x318df668 0x318d5000 + 42600 // ABCGetPersonCountInStore + 0x88 11 AddressBook 0x318ea450 0x318d5000 + 87120 // ABAddressBookGetPersonCount + 0x8 12 MyAddressBook 0x0000ad30 0x1000 + 40240 // -[MyAddressBookController readAB] + 0x2c0 13 MyAddressBook 0x0000a8ce 0x1000 + 39118 // -[MyAddressBookController start] + 0x4a What I'm doing in "readAB"? - (void) readAB { ABAddressBookRef ab = ABAddressBookCreate(); CFArrayRef contacts = ABAddressBookCopyArrayOfAllPeople(ab); CFIndex count = ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab); for(int i = 0; i < count; i++) { //doing some thing... } } If you observe the above crash report, it is clearly pointing to CFIndex count = ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab);. Whats wrong with this code? I'm sure that this code works perfectly on firmware 3.1.2. But now I upgraded firmware to 3.1.3. Is this upgrade is causing any trouble? Regards, prathumca.

  • Avoiding EXC_BAD_ACCESS when using the delegate pattern

    - by Kenny Winker
A have a view controller, and it creates a "downloader" object, which has a reference to the view controller (as a delegate). The downloader calls back the view controller if it successfully downloads the item. This works fine as long as you stay on the view, but if you navigate away before the download is complete I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I understand why this is happening, but is there any way to check if an object is still allocated? I tried to test using delegate != nil, and [delegate respondsToSelector:], but it chokes. if (!self.delegate || ![self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(downloadComplete:)]) { // delegate is gone, go away quietly [self autorelease]; return; } else { // delegate is still around [self.delegate downloadComplete:result]; } I know I could, a) have the downloader objects retain the view controller b) keep an array of downloaders in the view controller, and set their delegate values to nil when I deallocate the view controller. But I wonder if there is an easier way, where I just test if the delegate address contains a valid object?

  • How can I pass latitude and longitude values from UIViewController to MKMapView?

    - by jerincbus
I have a detail view that includes three UIButtons, each of which pushes a different view on to the stack. One of the buttons is connected to a MKMapView. When that button is pushed I need to send the latitude and longitude variables from the detail view to the map view. I'm trying to add the string declaration in the IBAction: - (IBAction)goToMapView { MapViewController *mapController = [[MapViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MapViewController" bundle:nil]; mapController.mapAddress = self.address; mapController.mapTitle = self.Title; mapController.mapLat = self.lat; mapController.mapLng = self.lng; //Push the new view on the stack [[self navigationController] pushViewController:mapController animated:YES]; [mapController release]; //mapController = nil; } And on my MapViewController.h file I have: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import <MapKit/MapKit.h> #import "DetailViewController.h" #import "CourseAnnotation.h" @class CourseAnnotation; @interface MapViewController : UIViewController <MKMapViewDelegate> { IBOutlet MKMapView *mapView; NSString *mapAddress; NSString *mapTitle; NSNumber *mapLat; NSNumber *mapLng; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet MKMapView *mapView; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *mapAddress; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *mapTitle; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSNumber *mapLat; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSNumber *mapLng; @end And on the pertinent parts of the MapViewController.m file I have: @synthesize mapView, mapAddress, mapTitle, mapLat, mapLng; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [mapView setMapType:MKMapTypeStandard]; [mapView setZoomEnabled:YES]; [mapView setScrollEnabled:YES]; MKCoordinateRegion region = { {0.0, 0.0 }, { 0.0, 0.0 } }; region.center.latitude = mapLat; //40.105085; region.center.longitude = mapLng; //-83.005237; region.span.longitudeDelta = 0.01f; region.span.latitudeDelta = 0.01f; [mapView setRegion:region animated:YES]; [mapView setDelegate:self]; CourseAnnotation *ann = [[CourseAnnotation alloc] init]; ann.title = mapTitle; ann.subtitle = mapAddress; ann.coordinate = region.center; [mapView addAnnotation:ann]; } But I get this when I try to build: 'error: incompatible types in assignment' for both lat and lng variables. So my questions are am I going about passing the variables from one view to another the right way? And does the MKMapView accept latitude and longitude as a string or a number?

  • How can I work around "Xcode could not locate source file"

    - by Septih
    Hello, I'm working with the ID3 framework in Xcode (which has since disappeared off the face of the web - including google cache!). I'm testing out an import mp3 feature which allows them to edit the tags as they import them. One of the test cases is a corrupt or invalid mp3 with no proper id3 header. The problem I'm having is that when updating the tags of the invalid mp3 (updateFile:), the ID3 framework attempts to use id3V1Tag.m (I assume it falls back to this if it can't find the v2 tag) and this is where I get the Xcode error (whilst running the program, not building): Xcode could not locate source file: id3V1Tag.m (line: 299) Even in a release build this crashes the program, so it's not something I can really ignore. I've tried putting a try/catch block around it but it's not treated as an exception so doesn't get caught. The function to load the tag data for the file returns a BOOL but it appears this only returns false if the given file doesn't exist, so this doesn't help either. Current code: [tagData release]; tagData = [[TagAPI alloc] initWithGenreList:nil]; tagsLoaded = [tagData examineFile:exportPath]; if(tagsLoaded) { [tagData setTitle:title]; [tagData setArtist:artist]; [tagData setComments:comments]; @try { [tagData updateFile]; } @catch (id e){ NSLog(@"h"); } }

  • iPhone metering problems

    - by Eric Christensen
When I'm recording an AVAudioRecorder object, I repeat a chunk of code via an NSTimer that includes: [soundrecording updateMeters]; NSLog(@"channel 0 average:%f, peak:%f",[soundrecording averagePowerForChannel:0],[soundrecording peakPowerForChannel:0]); NSLog(@"channel 1 average:%f, peak:%f",[soundrecording averagePowerForChannel:1],[soundrecording peakPowerForChannel:1]); When I'm recording a mono file, the peak power for channel 0 is just what you'd expect, a float from -160 to 0. But average power for channel 0 is always zero. (And, of course, the values for channel 1 are both zero.) When I'm recording a stereo file, both the average and peak values for both channels are as expected. Any thoughts on why, when recording a mono file, the average value for channel 0 isn't returning correctly, even though the peak is? Thanks!
