• Is it abuse to put application/business logic inside of jQuery plugins?

  Is it appropriate to create jQuery plugins which are specific to a single page? I've been creating generic plugins that are not tied to any context and contain no business logic, but some people I've talked to suggest that almost all javascript, including business logic and logic specific to a single page, should be inside of jQuery plugins. Is it appropriate to have a validateformXYZ plugin which validates a specific HTML form? I'm buying into jQuery 100% but am not sure if this is a misuse or not.

  I have been writing embedded C applications for almost 20 years. In the last few years I have written quite a few PC based GUI interfaces in Visual C so I could interface my embedded systems to a PC. Although my primary work will still be in deeply embedded C, I have finally decided to move my PC based tools into Ruby - (for quick scripting type stuff) and C++ or C# for GUI based interfaces and applications. Should I bother with C++ or just move straight to C#?

  Can TextMate be changed to "shift text to right" by highlighting text and pressing Tab? Right now it actually replace the whole selected text with a tab character but I almost never want to do something like that. I think some other editors like Notepad++ will indent to the next level.

  Hey everyone, Why can't c# do any exact operations. Math.Pow(Math.Sqrt(2.0),2) == 2.0000000000000004 I know how doubles work, I know where the rounding error is from, I know that it's almost the correct value, and I know that you can't store infinite numbers in a finite double. But why isn't there a way that c# can calculate it exactly, while my calculator can do it.   I'm trying to map my skills and responsibilities profile sections to one of the custom properties in Active Directory (extensionattribute1 , 2, etc). I'm entering comma seperated values in AD and it's importing the values fine but sees the comma seperated values as one value on import. i.e. 'C#,asp.net,javascript' rather than 'C#', 'asp.net', 'Javascript'. Any ideas. I'm almost there it's just not spliting the values correctly on import. thanks in Advance

  Hi, looking at a database dump file, and I see many records in various tables with their version number set in values other than 0 (even 94 in one case). I understand it has to do with hibernate locking strategy, but my concern is that today is Sunday, and the site has almost no visitors so is: is this normal ?   I want to handle a feature which seems to me almost natural with programs, and I don't know how to handle it with Getopt perl package (no matter Std ot Long). I would like something like: ./perlscript <main option> [some options like -h or --output-file some_name] Options will be handled with - or --, but I want to be able to let the user give me the main and needed option without dashes. Is Getopt able to do that, or do I have to handle it by hand?
