    Hi there, I need to create a .Net windows service to monitor a mailbox and process attachments (if found) on the emails and then delete the email from the server. I have two questions I'd like your thoughts on: POP3 or IMAP to connect to the mail server? Which POP3/IMAP library should I use.     I'm doing a bit more statistical analysis on some things lately, and I'm curious if there are any programming languages that are particularly good for this purpose. I know about R, but I'd kind of prefer something a bit more general-purpose (or is R pretty general-purpose?). What suggestions do you guys have? Are there any languages out there whose syntax/semantics are particularly oriented towards this? Or are there any languages that have exceptionally good libraries?

    Do you know of a tutorial that demonstrates Public Private Key encryption(PPKE) in C++ or C? I am trying to learn how it works and eventually use Crypto++ to create my own encryptions using public private keys. Maybe theres a Crypto++ PPKE tutorial? Maybe someone can explain the relationship(if any) between the public and private keys? Could anyone suggest some very simple public and private key values I could use(like 'char*32','char/32') to create my simple PPKE program to understand the concept?

    I think the concept of Python's doctests is brilliant, and as a C++ programmer at a real-time shop, I'm quite jealous. We basically have no unit test capability, which is a severe hindrance. I've seen C++Unit, etc, but is there anything that can extract test cases out of comments like Python's doctests rather than putting them in the code directly?

    Given a string containing jpeg image data, is it possible to load this directly in pygame? I've tried using StringIO but failed and I don't completely understand the 'file-like' object concept. Currently, as a workaround, I'm saving to disk and then loading an image the standard way: # imagestring contains a jpeg f=open('test.jpg','wb') f.write(imagestring) f.close() image=pygame.image.load('test.jpg') Any suggestions on improving this so that we avoid creating a temp file?

However my OS file system has a limit on the number of sub directories, meaning storing the original folder structure is not going to work. Suggestions? Map the URL to some filename so can store flatly? Or just shove it in a database like sqlite to avoid file system limitations?
