    having to do with data integrity - I maintain a coldfusion database at a small shop that keeps addresses of different contacts. These contacts sometimes contain notes in them. When you are merging two duplicate contacts, one may be created in 2002 and one in 2008. If the contact in 2002 has notes prior to 2008, my question would be does it matter if you merge these contacts and keep the 2008 contact's ID number? Would that affect the data integrity or create any sort of issues with the notes earlier than 2008? I hope I've accurately described my scenario, as I am not familiar with the proper technical terms. I really appreciate the help sir!

    I am having problems trying to compile my App to my iPhone. I upgraded to the new SDK and have 4.0 on my phone... which I did not do that. I am compiling for 3.1.2 - It works fine in the simulator but when I "build" for the Device, it gives me this line of errors: Link /Users/me/Apps/myapp/build/app.build/Debug-iphoneos/app.build/objects-normal/armv7/appname In /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.3.sdk/user/lib/libz.dylib, missing required architecture armv7 in file then the actual failure occurs on: Command /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Scenario, simplified for brevity: A developer creates an application for a customer. The customer sells this app to end-users. The app requires a license key to run, and this key is generated by the customer for each end-user with a simple tool created by the developer. The license key contains an expiry date for the license and is encrypted so the end-user can’t tamper with it. The problem here is that the developer (or anybody who has a copy of the license key generator) can easily create valid license keys. Should this generator fall into the wrong hands, it could spell disaster for the customers business. Ideally, the customer would have to use a password to create new license keys. And this password would be unknown to the developer, and somehow baked into the decryption algorithm in the application so it will fail if an attempt to use an unauthorized key is made. How would you implement a solution for this problem that is both transparent and secure?

  • Transferring a flat file database to a MySQL database

    I have a flat file database (yeah gross I know - the worst part is that it's 1.4GB), and I'm in the process of moving it to a MySQL database. The problem is that I'm not sure how to go about doing this - and I've checked through every related question on here but none relate to what I want to do, nor how my database is currently setup. My current flat file database is setup to where a normal MySQL row is its own file, and a MySQL table would be the directory. So for example if you have a user named Jon, there would be a file for the user in a directory named /members/. Within that file would be various information for the user including the users id, rank etc - all separated by tabs, all on separate lines (userid\t4). So here's an example user file: userid 4 notes staff notes: bla bla staff2 notes: bla bla bla username Example So how can I convert the above into their own rows and fields in MySQL? And if possible, could I do thousands of these files at once? Thanks.

How can I add an Developer to a Project through the nested_attributes method? The following does not work: @p.people_attributes = [{:name => "Epic Beard Man", :type => "Developer"}] @p.people => [#<Person id: nil, name: "Epic Beard Man", type: nil>] As you can see the type attributes is set to nil instead of Developer.

    Hello all, I'm new to apple development, For my Uni project I try developing an application for iPhone using PocketSphinx to recognise speech commands... I used the "build_for_iphoneos.sh" script available in PocketSphinx SVN and SphinxBase. Program working without any issues when i try it on simulator, today I try to deploy on device and it's giving me this error? can any one help me solve this please?   • Multi-level clones with Git?

    So, I'm thinking of having the following centralized setup with Git (each of these are clones): stable development developer1 developer2 developer3 So, I created my stable repository git --bare init made the 'development' clone git clone ssh://host.name//path/to/stable/project.git development and made a 'developer' clone git clone ssh://host.name//path/to/development/project.git developer So, now, I make a change, commit, and then I push from my developer account git commit --all git push and the change goes to the development clone. But now, when I ssh to the server, go to the development clone directory, and run "git fetch" or "get pull", I don't see the changes. So what do I do? Am I totally misunderstanding things and doing things wrong? How can I see the changes in the 'development' clone that I pushed from my 'developer' clone? This worked fine in Mercurial.

    Hi, I'm trying to use the .LoadWith method I have these lines of code in my domainservice: public IEnumerable<Subject> GetSubjectList(Guid userid) { DataLoadOptions loadopts = new DataLoadOptions(); loadopts.LoadWith<Subject>(s => s.Notes); this.DataContext.LoadOptions = loadopts; return this.DataContext.Subjects; } I can see debugging that a list of subjects get loaded, and that the Subjects.Notes property which is a List is also populated with subitems, but when I do ctx.Load(ctx.GetSubjectListQuery(WebContext.Current.User.UserId), lo => { serverdata = ctx.Subjects; }, null); I only get a flat list of subjects loaded into serverdata, and no note subitems are loaded to subject.notes

  • I'm trying to install psycopg2 onto Mac OS 10.6.3; it claims it can't find "stdarg.h" but I can see

    I'm desperately trying to successfully install psycopg2 but keep running into errors. The latest one seems to involve it not being to find "stdarg.h" (see code below). However I can see with my own eyes that a file called stdarg.h exists at /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/usr/include/stdarg.h (where it claims it can't find anything) so I've no idea what to do about it. I'm running Mac OS 10.6.3 and within the last few days I've made sure I have all the latest OS developer tools.     i'm looking for a good webui tool for mercurial. i've found this link Mercurial with WebUI but what i'm looking for is something that has the ability to do check-in and check-out per file like the PVCS. any suggestions? thanks Edit: Here's the link for PVCS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PVCS It's been around 4 years since I last used PVCS and a lot has probably changed but here's as far as I remember. It has a web application wherein a developer can check out a single file. If this file is checked-out, it will be locked to this developer and no other developer can check it out. Then can download the source but they won't be able to check it in unless the original developer (that checked-out the file) checks it in.

  • Injecting a response value into a textarea to subsequently post

    I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge...   • subversion 1.6.x losing changes on check-in

    I'm trying to figure out if this is a known issue with SVN 1.6.x Developer A modifies a file and commits it. Developer B modifies the same file. Tries to commit it and gets told local copy out of date so does an update and then a commit. However the changes from Developer A are lost so the resulting file only contains the version that Developer B checked in. We can see this in the logs. It seems to happen when the same file is modified but in different places. Anyone else experienced this? We've had it happen 4 or 5 times in the past few weeks and we've lost a half day or so each time trying to figure out what's been lost, etc. We're starting to lose confidence in SVN. Should we be thinking of moving to GIT or Mecurial? Would that sort out this problem?
