  • Using subselect to accomplish LEFT JOIN

    Is is possible to accomplish the equivalent of a LEFT JOIN with subselect where multiple columns are required. Here's what I mean. SELECT m.*, (SELECT * FROM model WHERE id = m.id LIMIT 1) AS models FROM make m As it stands now doing this gives me a 'Operand should contain 1 column(s)' error. Yes I know this is possible with LEFT JOIN, but I was told it was possible with subselect to I'm curious as to how it's done.

    I am trying to use rspec on my rails application I run "spec path/to/spec/spec.rb" and it appears to do nothing and returns nothing. I receive no error Rails Version 2.3.4 Ruby 1.8.7 Rspec 1.3.0 rspec-rails 1.3.2 Any help is appreciated. Thanks.     What could be the potential reasons why mongrel does not use the latest code in the ~/current branch? The code changes are in the MODELs. The code changes in the CONTROLLERS TAKE EFFECT. I tried the following: god restart app deploying several times manually stopping mongrel cluster, deleting the pid files, and starting them again Anyone has similar experiences? Where could the server be potentially caching the model files?

    I have two models: User MentoringRelationship MentoringRelationship is a join model that has a mentor_id column and a mentee_id column (both of these reference user_ids from the users table). How can I specify a relation called 'mentees' on the User class that will return all of the users mentored by this user, using the MentoringRelationships join table? What relations do we need to declare in the User model and in the MentoringRelationship model?

  • php 5.1.6 magic __toString method

    In codeigniter Im trying to use this plugin which requires I implement a toString method in my models. My toString method simply does return $this->name On my local machine with php 5.3 everything works just fine but on the production server with php 5.1.6 it shows "Object id#48" where the value of the name property of that object should appear..... I found something about the problem here but I still dont understand... How can I fix this?

    I use a lot of iterations to define convenience methods in my models, stuff like: PET_NAMES.each do |pn| define_method(pn) do ... ... end but I've never been able to dynamically define setter methods, ie: def pet_name=(name) ... end using define_method like so: define_method("pet_name=(name)") do ... end Any ideas?   • Should I use a resource loader for a SPA, or front-load everything?

All the examples tend to be simple to-do lists, so it's been a little difficult extrapolating code organization and file structure for a larger/more robust single page application. I've come to a crossroad: Should I use something like Yepnope.js to load models and views as I need them or, Combine and minify into fewer files and front-load it all. Some combination of both? Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Triangle count for model is doubled during render

    I am working with the Trinigy 3d engine, and it reports models to have twice as many triangles during render than it does in the model display (let's say 4000 instead of 2000). If I render the model with an additional outline shader, it reports 6000 triangles, so it's not a simple duplication. What could be the problem?

  • Generate 2D cross-section polygon from 3D mesh

    I'm writing a game which uses 3D models to draw a scene (top-down orthographic projection), but a 2D physics engine to calculate response to collisions, etc. I have a few 3D assets for which I'd like to be able to automatically generate a hitbox by 'slicing' the 3D mesh with the X-Y plane and creating a polygon from the resultant edges. Google is failing me on this one (and not much helpful material on SO either). Suggestions?

    I need to do some debugging, because the permissions for one of my models are created wrongly. So I tried to find the piece of code where Django creates the permissions upon syncdb and writes them in the database, but I haven't been successful at all; maybe I just overlooked the right lines of code, but if somebody can point me out the right module / line of code where this happens I'd be very happy!
