    The app we use for development (CodeWright 7) is quite old and has Cleartype turned off by default. A newer version has the option to turn on font smoothing, but I'm stuck with this version and upgrading is not an option for me. Is there a way to force the app to use Cleartype?

  • Setting font size of Closed Captions on iPhone using ffmpeg or mencoder

    Does anyone know how to either: Make ffmpeg set subtitle font size in the output video file Make mencoder produce an iPhone-compatible video file (with subtitles) I finally found out how to get Closed Captions video on iPhone, with mkv and srt files as source material. The secret was using the mov_text subtitle codec in ffmpeg (and turning on Closed Captions in the iPhone settings of course): ffmpeg -y -i in.mkv -i in.srt -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -map 1:0 -vcodec copy -acodec aac -ab 256k -scodec mov_text -strict -2 -metadata title="Title" -metadata:s:s:0 language=eng out.mp4 However, the font size appears very small on the iPhone, and I can't find out how to set it with ffmpeg (the iPhone has no option for this). I found out that mencoder has a -subfont-text-scale option, but I don't have a lot of experience with this program.     I seem to be unable to perform a kickstart installation of centos5.8 with a netinstall. It correctly gets into the text installer, but keeps sending out a request for the dhcp server and failing. I have tried to manually set the IP everywhere. I have tried going to Language in Control Panel and setting the only language to English - US, however English - UK is still the only option in speech properties. How can I add a language to the Speech Properties?

    I want to configure DHCP server in a way that it puts "regular" smartphones and tablets into a separate subnet. Is it possible to detect if the DHCP request comes from an Android or iOS device based on the DHCP request itself? For example: a Sony android phone which was around set the following DHCP options in request, which are potentially useful for identification bootp.option.vendor_class_id == "dhcpcd-5.2.10:Linux-2.6.32.9-perf:armv7l:mogami" bootp.option.hostname == "android-c7d342d011ea6419" Are there any known common patterns in DHCP request options better then MAC prefix?

  • LPR on Windows: Can you specify # of copies?

    In Linux, you can use lpr -#5 foo.txt to get 5 copies of a document when sending to an LPD-based print server. The Windows (XP, 2003, 2008) version of LPR supplied by MS doesn't seem to have this option, though. Does anyone know if there's a hidden option to specify the number of copies? Thanks.

    I wonder if there is an option (inside of Evernote or outside of it, manually with the help of 3rd party tools) to locate the biggest notes inside of Evernote? I want to remove those or put them into another system. Basically a "order after note(file) size" option is what I need.     I want to provide a remote employee remote desktop into a PC in the office and am trying to decide between the following two options: Use Microsoft VPN to get him a local network IP. Use RDP to connect to host machine. Use local SSH tunneling for VPN port. Connect RDP to localhost:portNumber Is either option more secure than the other? Will either option perform better than the other? Are there any better options I've missed or considerations I should make?

  • After Windows 8 installation I can't access BIOS settings anymore

    Today I installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on one of my notebook machines and I noticed that I can't access BIOS settings if I use the "Shut down" Windows option on Settings/Power menu. If I use the "Restart" option, my BIOS allow me to enter on it's settings over "F2" again. Is this happening to someone else? I looked over Windows 8 oficial forum and couldn't find such event. Is this something foreseeable to the new Windows 8?

I'd like different settings for each device. e.g. the mouse is high resolution so I prefer to use a slow mouse settings, and for the trackpad I prefer to use the "Enhance pointer precision" option. The server has internet access with no issues. eth1 is internal and running DHCP for the clients.     Is it possible to set Microsoft Word to display some text left-aligned and other text right-aligned on a single line? Here's an example of what I mean: | Chickens, turkey and duck 30 | | Cows 240 | | Pigs and boar 83 | | Sheep Not applicable | where the vertical lines denote the sides of the page. The full justify option won't work because I don't want anything in the middle of the lines. The table of contents option has the formatting I want, but only supports page numbers, which does me no good.

  • Does informing your destination hardware impact on ebook convertion on Calibre?

    If I connect my Kindle Fire to the computer, Calibre gives me an option to convert to Kindle Fire mobi format. Is this different from just asking to convert to mobi? I don't want to connect my Kindle anymore, I want to send to the cloud, but I'm not willing to lose conversion quality because of lack of ebook reader information. Of course, I couldn't find the convert to Kindle option without it being connected.

    I'm running Win2008R2, and have installed an Enterprise CA. I can create user certs, but no matter what I do, I cannot export the private key. I'm using the un-touched User certificate template, and the "allow export of private key" option is selected. Still, whenever I go to the "export" dialogue of the certificate (both as user and as administrator), I don't get asked if I want to export the private key, and the option to select PKCS12 format is grayed out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I've checked "Don't use the index when searching in file folders for system files", but I don't see a way to tell Windows 7 that I'm looking for a system file. What does this option actually do, and how do I use it to search every file name on the drive for a specified character string? I intend to search file names in an indexed folder that contains non-indexed subfolders and "system" file types, and this option seems to have no effect on the skipping of those subfolders and file types.

  • YouTube music videos and playing in 480p and above

    Does anyone know how I can get YouTube to default to playing music videos in the highest possible quality setting? If for example 480p is available I’d want that automatically selected before the music starts playing. I changed the video playback option to ‘Always choose the best option for me, based on my player size.’ But the quality always defaults to 360p on page load.
