  • Why doesn’t ABPersonViewController show any properties besides the name?

    For some reason, ABPersonViewController is unwilling to display any properties aside from the name, no matter what properties are set for it to display. I’m unable to use the AddressBookUI controllers to let a user select a contact to display, since my UI has custom requirements, otherwise I’d go that route (as Apple does in their sample project.)   • What effect does RAID stripe size have on read-ahead settings?

    I'm trying to figure out the correct read-ahead values to set on a RAID10 array, and I'm wondering if the RAID stripe size should factor into my considerations. I've heard conflicting information about this in the past. I once heard that you should always set your read-ahead value to a multiple of the RAID stripe size, and never below the stripe size, because that is the minimum amount of data the RAID controller will ever try to read at once. Someone else told me, however, that setting read-ahead below the stripe size is fine, and can, in fact, increase the amount of parallel reads you can do across devices in the array, increasing performance and decreasing load on the array. So which is it? Do read-ahead settings that aren't multiples of the stripe size make sense or not?

    Win7 Home Prem 32-bit I usually use Firefox as my browser of choice and have been using the Addin Speed Dial for ages. I have many sites added on multiple tabs within it. I have just installed the Google Chrome browser which also has the Speed Dial Extension. Is there a way to export/import/copy/sync my Speed Dial settings i have in Firefox to the Speed Dial extension in Chrome? I know i can export from Speed Dial in Firefox but can't see any easy way to import from Speed Dial in Chrome.

    My network is as follows: Internet Provider's DSL modem connected to Internet Provider's router connected to My Buffalo Wireless router connected to My Toshiba Laptop via WEP network My Toshiba Laptop is running LMDE Linux Mint Debian Edition Service Pack 3 i686 kernel I have experience using various routers and their configuration settings but for some reason I can not access my wireless router. In my cromium browser I tried the following ip addresses: Standard Usual IPs : 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 (connection hangs and goes no where) On the back of my router: 192.168.11.1, 192.168.11.100 (connection hangs and goes nowhere ) In some tcpip info: 192.168.24.1 (unable to connect error message) If someone could give me some terminal commands that will help me find my wireless router address or some trouble shooting ideas, I would be very thankful.

    fail2ban just locked me out of our website because something from my desktop was hammering port 443 on the server (which is not in use). I saw my IP also requesting "GET /autodiscover/autodiscover.xml HTTP/1.1", so I assume that's what's going on on port 443 as well. But I only have 1 email account configured in Outlook and it's working just fine. The account is for the address [email protected] and said server will answer for example.com, but that server is not our MX and it is also not configured as an Exchange server in my mail account. So, why is Outlook still trying to retrieve those auto-configuration settings?

  • Multiple IP addresses to one NIC, but advanced IP settings window only shows one?

    The ipconfig of my Windows Server 2003 server shows that the IP addresses 10.0.0.3, 10.0.0.11, and 10.0.0.12 are assigned to it. However, when I look in the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window for that connection, I only see the IP address of 10.0.0.3 listed there. In the Support tab for the connection, it shows that it's connected through 10.0.0.12, and in the Support Details window, it shows all the previously mentioned IP addresses. Where are these phantom IP addresses being stored and how can I free them up so I don't have any IP conflicts?

    I'm using Oracle Advanced Queues via JMS from within Websphere App Server. Does anyone know what effect the following two properties have:- - oracle.jms.useEmulatedXA - oracle.jms.useNativeXA I have seen mentioned in some blogs and quick start guides, usually in sentences along the lines of "Add -Doracle.jms.useEmulatedXA=false -Doracle.jms.useNativeXA=true to the JAVA_PROPERTIES variable", without any explanation as to what they do:- e.g. http://biemond.blogspot.com/2008/11/using-aq-in-weblogic-103.html http://sqltech.cl/doc/oas10gR31/integrate.1013/b28994/adptr_aq.htm#CHDEADFB I'm curious as to what these two properties actually do, and what the implications of setting them are, even though they don't seem to have any affect on our app regardless of whether we set them or not. My settings are as follows Server Settings Server Type: IMAP Mail server Server Name: imap.gmail.com Username: [email protected] Port: 993 Default: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Encrypted password Outgoing server (SMTP) Server Name: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587 Default: 25 Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication method: Encrypted password Username: [email protected] IMAP is enabled in my Gmail settings. ERROR: Connection to the server [email protected] timed out. I am behind a proxy server and I have configured those settings under: Thunderbird Preferences - Advanced - Network and Disk Space - Connection Settings - Manual Proxy Configuration The proxy configuration works, as when I created a Blogs and News feeds a/c, it was working properly and fetching the feeds for me. So, Thunderbird is configured properly as per the proxy settings. Help me.

(I don't need the font size to change). So everything's working to a point. I have a span with class countdown and whatever is in it when the page is refreshed goes down second by second. However, I need it to be formatted in M:S format. So, my two questions: 1) What can I use instead of animate to take care of the loop yet maintain the callback 2) How (where in the code should I) can I play with the time format? Thanks.

  • Windows 7, file properties, date modified, how do you show seconds?

    Anyone know a way to immediately show the seconds of a file's date modified property in the GUI? So if you create a file, any file in any directory, right-click and choose Properties, the date modified (if it's recent) will say something like "dd/mm/yyy hh:mm, one minute ago" - reminder this is in Windows 7. Windows XP did it normally. Then they changed something. If you wait a while, eventually you'll see the seconds, I'm not sure how long a while is, but this is incredibly annoying if you want to troubleshoot something that relies on the seconds of timestamps... is there a setting? registry key I can change perhaps? I'm literally using Chrome, pasting in the path of the directory to be able to see the seconds quickly (as a workaround) but would be nice to be able to use Win7.

  • How to configure MySQL connection properties with Spring, Hibernate 3.3 and c3p0?

    I am currently in the process of upgrading an application from Hibernate 3.2 to Hibernate 3.3. I though I'd stick with the default connection pool (Hibernate changed its default from Commons DBCP to c3p0) as I don't have any good reason to choose a non-default pool. At least non but having used DBCP before. The upgrade went pretty much without any problems so far. The only thing I can't get to work is passing properties to the underlying MySQL JDBC4Connection. Up to now, I used DBCP's BasicDataSource.addConnectionProperty(String,String) to pass properties (useUnicode=true, characterEncodin=UTF-8, characterSetResults=UTF-8, zeroDateTimeBehavior=convertToNull). However, I can't find any way to do the same with c3p0 other than including them in the JDBC URL. (That's something I'd like to avoid as I wanna keep the URL configurable without forcing users to include those parameters.) So far, I've tried to use a ConnectionCustomizer without success. Any other suggestions?

Ex: People older than 26 Name Properties Jane Smart, Funny, Good-looking Joe Smart, Workaholic It's also acceptable to return one of the properties and total property count. The query should be efficient: there are millions of rows in people table, hundreds of thousands of rows in properties table (so most people have no properties). There are hundreds of rows selected at a time. Is there any way to do it?

  • initWithCoder works, but init seems to be overwriting my objects properties?

    Hi guys, I've been trying to teach myself how to use the Archiving/Unarchiving methods of NSCoder, but I'm stumped. I have a Singleton class that I have defined with 8 NSInteger properties. I am trying to save this object to disk and then load from disk as needed. I've got the save part down and I have the load part down as well (according to NSLogs), but after my "initWithCoder:" method loads the object's properties appropriately, the "init" method runs and resets my object's properties back to zero. I'm probably missing something basic here, but would appreciate any help!   • Can make the proxy settings invisible when I share my internet connection via wifi?

    This is probably a long shot... I have an HTC Desire and frustratingly found out after I got it that it doesn't support network proxy settings. We have a wireless network at my office that uses a proxy. My desktop at work runs ubuntu. I was wondering if the following set up would work: Plug a USB Wireless adapter into the desktop that has a working internet connection using the proxy. Setup the wireless adapter as an ad-hoc network Share the internet connection over the ad-hoc network. Make it so that the use of the proxy is invisible to users of the shared network connection. Connect the Android phone to the ad-hoc wireless network and utilise the internet connection. My question is this: Is this possible or should I give up now and not even try? I think I can handle steps 1, 2, 3 and 5. I just have no idea if step 4 even makes sense, let alone is possible. Thanks

  • How can I share Configuration Settings across multiple projects in Visual Studio?

    Ok I know this may be a design issue, so I would love to have remarks on that as well. I have a Visual Studio web application solution. I have three projects as UserInterface, BusinessLogic and DataAccess. I had to store some user defined settings and I created configSections in the config file. I access these configSections through classes which inherit from .NET's ConfigurationSection base class. So in short for every project I had a separate configSection and for that corresponding configSection I had a class in that project inheriting from ConfigurationSection to access the config section settings. This works all sweet. But the problem arises if there is any setting which I need to use across multiple projects. So If I need to use a setting defined in UserInterface project configSection in, let say, BusinessLogic project I have to actually make a copy of that setting in the BusinessLogic's configSection. This ends up having the same setting copied across multiple configSections. Isn't this a bit too redundant?

    In my application one player and 10 targets are there. Each target appears one after the other (from target1 to target10). It's a shooting game. If we hit the first target then second target will come. The targets have properties like name, speedOfGunDraw, probability to hit the player, speedOfFire. What should I do to make them appear one after the other with these properties. I am using CCMenuItem for the target. I am using a sprite for the player. Please give me idea to do this. Thank You.
