  • parsed xml file: skip creation if blank?

    - by GoodGets
    This could be a HappyMapper specific question, but I don't think so. In my app, users can upload their blog subscriptions (via an OPML file), which I parse and add to their profile. The only problem is during the parsing, or more specifically the creation of each subscription, I can't figure out how to skip over entries that are just "labels". Since OPML files allow you to label your blogs, or organize them into folders, this is my problem. The actual blog subscriptions and their labels both have "outline" tags. <outline text="Rails" > <outline title="Katz Got Your Tongue?" text="Katz Got Your Tongue?" htmlUrl="http://yehudakatz.com" type="rss" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/KatzGotYourTongue" /> After parsing, I create each feed via a method call inside of the HappyMapper module def create_feed Feed.new( :feed_htmlUrl => self.htmlUrl, :feed_title => self.title, ... But how do I prevent it from creating new "feeds" for those outline tags that are just tags? (i.e. those that don't have an htmlUrl?)

  • Shift-reduce: when to stop reducing?

    - by Joey Adams
    I'm trying to learn about shift-reduce parsing. Suppose we have the following grammar, using recursive rules that enforce order of operations, inspired by the ANSI C Yacc grammar: S: A; P : NUMBER | '(' S ')' ; M : P | M '*' P | M '/' P ; A : M | A '+' M | A '-' M ; And we want to parse 1+2 using shift-reduce parsing. First, the 1 is shifted as a NUMBER. My question is, is it then reduced to P, then M, then A, then finally S? How does it know where to stop? Suppose it does reduce all the way to S, then shifts '+'. We'd now have a stack containing: S '+' If we shift '2', the reductions might be: S '+' NUMBER S '+' P S '+' M S '+' A S '+' S Now, on either side of the last line, S could be P, M, A, or NUMBER, and it would still be valid in the sense that any combination would be a correct representation of the text. How does the parser "know" to make it A '+' M So that it can reduce the whole expression to A, then S? In other words, how does it know to stop reducing before shifting the next token? Is this a key difficulty in LR parser generation?

  • shortest digest of a string

    - by meta
    [Description] Given a string of char type, find a shortest digest, which is defined as: a shortest sub-string which contains all the characters in the original string. [Example] A = "aaabedacd" B = "bedac" is the answer. [My solution] Define an integer table with 256 elements, which is used to record the occurring times for each kind of character in the current sub-string. Scan the whole string, statistic the total kinds of character in the given string by using the above table. Use two pointers, start, end, which are initially pointing to the start and (start + 1) of the given string. The current kinds of character is 1. Expand sub-string[start, end) at the end until it contains all kinds of character. Update the shortest digest if possible. Contract sub-string[start, end] at the start by one character each time, try to restore its digest property if necessary by step 4. The time cost is O(n), and the extra space cost is constant. Any better solution without extra space?

  • Custom ConfigurationSection: CallbackValidator called with empty string

    - by Paolo Tedesco
    I am writing a custom configuration section, and I would like to validate a configuration property with a callback, like in this example: using System; using System.Configuration; class CustomSection : ConfigurationSection { [ConfigurationProperty("stringValue", IsRequired = false)] [CallbackValidator(Type = typeof(CustomSection), CallbackMethodName = "ValidateString")] public string StringValue { get { return (string)this["stringValue"]; } set { this["stringValue"] = value; } } public static void ValidateString(object value) { if (string.IsNullOrEmpty((string)value)) { throw new ArgumentException("string must not be empty."); } } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { CustomSection cfg = (CustomSection)ConfigurationManager.GetSection("customSection"); Console.WriteLine(cfg.StringValue); } } And my App.config file looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <configSections> <section name="customSection" type="CustomSection, config-section"/> </configSections> <customSection stringValue="lorem ipsum"/> </configuration> My problem is that when the ValidateString function is called, the value parameter is always an empty string, and therefore the validation fails. If i just remove the validator, the string value is correctly initialized to the value in the configuration file. What am I missing? EDIT I discovered that actually the validation function is being called twice: the first time with the default value of the property, which is an empty string if nothing is specified, the second time with the real value read from the configuration file. Is there a way to modify this behavior?

  • How to write regex that searches for a dynamic amount of pairs?

    - by citronas
    Lets say a have a string such as this one: string txt = "Lore ipsum {{abc|prop1=\"asd\";prop2=\"bcd\";}} asd lore ipsum"; The information I want to extract "abc" and pairs like ("prop1","asd") , ("prop3", "bcd") where each pair used a ; as delimeter. Edit1: (based on MikeB's) code Ah, getting close. I found out how to parse the following: string txt = "Lore ipsum {{abc|prop1=\"asd\";prop2=\"http:///www.foo.com?foo=asd\";prop3=\"asd\";prop4=\"asd\";prop5=\"asd\";prop6=\"asd\";}} asd"; Regex r = new Regex("{{(?<single>([a-z0-9]*))\\|((?<pair>([a-z0-9]*=\"[a-z0-9.:/?=]*\";))*)}}", RegexOptions.Singleline | RegexOptions.IgnoreCase); Match m = r.Match(txt); if (m.Success) { Console.WriteLine(m.Groups["single"].Value); foreach (Capture cap in m.Groups["pair"].Captures) { Console.WriteLine(cap.Value); } } Question 1: How must I adjust the regex to say 'each value of a pair in delimited by \" only? I added chars like '.',';' etc, but I can't think of any char that I want to permit. The other way around would be much nicer. Question 2: How must I adjust this regex work with this thing here? string txt = "Lore ipsum {{abc|prop1=\"asd\";prop2=\"http:///www.foo.com?foo=asd\";prop3=\"asd\";prop4=\"asd\";prop5=\"asd\";prop6=\"asd\";}} asd lore ipsum {{aabc|prop1=\"asd\";prop2=\"http:///www.foo.com?foo=asd\";prop3=\"asd\";prop4=\"asd\";prop5=\"asd\";prop6=\"asd\";}}"; Therefore I'd probably try to get groups of {{...}} and use the other regex?

  • Problem with writing a hexadecimal string

    - by quilby
    Here is my code /* gcc -c -Wall -g main.c gcc -g -lm -o main main.o */ #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> void stringToHex(const char* string, char* hex) { int i = 0; for(i = 0; i < strlen(string)/2; i++) { printf("s%x", string[2*i]); //for debugging sprintf(&hex[i], "%x", string[2*i]); printf("h%x\n", hex[i]); //for debugging } } void writeHex(char* hex, int length, FILE* file, long position) { fseek(file, position, SEEK_SET); fwrite(hex, sizeof(char), length, file); } int main(int argc, char** argv) { FILE* pic = fopen("hi.bmp", "w+b"); const char* string = "f2"; char hex[strlen(string)/2]; stringToHex(string, hex); writeHex(hex, strlen(string)/2, pic, 0); fclose(pic); return 0; } I want it to save the hexadecimal number 0xf2 to a file (later I will have to write bigger/longer numbers though). The program prints out - s66h36 And when I use hexedit to view the file I see the number '36' in it. Why is my code not working? Thanks!

  • How to retrieve a numbered sequence range from a List of filenames?

    - by glenneroo
    I would like to automatically parse the entire numbered sequence range of a List<FileData> of filenames (sans extensions) by checking which part of the filename changes. Here is an example (file extension already removed): First filename: IMG_0000 Last filename: IMG_1000 Numbered Range I need: 0000 to 1000 Except I need to deal with every possible type of file naming convention such as: 0000 ... 9999 20080312_0000 ... 20080312_9999 IMG_0000 - Copy ... IMG_9999 - Copy 8er_green3_00001 .. 8er_green3_09999 etc. I need the entire 0-padded range e.g. 0001 not just 1 The sequence number is 0-padded e.g. 0001 The sequence number can be located anywhere e.g. IMG_0000 - Copy The range can start and end with anything i.e. doesn't have to start with 1 and end with 9999 Whenever I get something working for 8 random test cases, the 9th test breaks everything and I end up re-starting from scratch. I've currently been comparing only the first and last filenames (as opposed to iterating through all filenames): void FindRange(List<FileData> files, out string startRange, out string endRange) { string firstFile = files.First().ShortName; string lastFile = files.Last().ShortName; ... } Does anyone have any clever ideas?

  • N-gram split function for string similarity comparison

    - by Michael
    As part of excersise to better understand F# which I am currently learning , I wrote function to split given string into n-grams. 1) I would like to receive feedback about my function : can this be written simpler or in more efficient way? 2) My overall goal is to write function that returns string similarity (on 0.0 .. 1.0 scale) based on n-gram similarity; Does this approach works well for short strings comparisons , or can this method reliably be used to compare large strings (like articles for example). 3) I am aware of the fact that n-gram comparisons ignore context of two strings. What method would you suggest to accomplish my goal? //s:string - target string to split into n-grams //n:int - n-gram size to split string into let ngram_split (s:string, n:int) = let ngram_count = s.Length - (s.Length % n) let ngram_list = List.init ngram_count (fun i -> if( i + n >= s.Length ) then s.Substring(i,s.Length - i) + String.init ((i + n) - s.Length) (fun i -> "#") else s.Substring(i,n) ) let ngram_array_unique = ngram_list |> Seq.ofList |> Seq.distinct |> Array.ofSeq //produce tuples of ngrams (ngram string,how much occurrences in original string) Seq.init ngram_array_unique.Length (fun i -> (ngram_array_unique.[i], ngram_list |> List.filter(fun item -> item = ngram_array_unique.[i]) |> List.length) )

  • How do I efficiently parse a CSV file in Perl?

    - by Mike
    I'm working on a project that involves parsing a large csv formatted file in Perl and am looking to make things more efficient. My approach has been to split() the file by lines first, and then split() each line again by commas to get the fields. But this suboptimal since at least two passes on the data are required. (once to split by lines, then once again for each line). This is a very large file, so cutting processing in half would be a significant improvement to the entire application. My question is, what is the most time efficient means of parsing a large CSV file using only built in tools? note: Each line has a varying number of tokens, so we can't just ignore lines and split by commas only. Also we can assume fields will contain only alphanumeric ascii data (no special characters or other tricks). Also, i don't want to get into parallel processing, although it might work effectively. edit It can only involve built-in tools that ship with Perl 5.8. For bureaucratic reasons, I cannot use any third party modules (even if hosted on cpan) another edit Let's assume that our solution is only allowed to deal with the file data once it is entirely loaded into memory. yet another edit I just grasped how stupid this question is. Sorry for wasting your time. Voting to close.

  • lstrcpy not updating passed in string

    - by Rorschach
    I'm trying to use kernel32.dll's lstrcpy to get a string from a pointer in C#, but it isn't working. lstrlenA IS working, it gives me the length of the string, so I'm hitting the kernel32.dll at least. lstrcpy is working in the VB6 app I'm converting, so I know it CAN work, but I don't have a clue why it isn't here. The string s never gets filled with the actual string, it just returns the initial padded string. [DllImport("kernel32.dll", EntryPoint = "lstrlenA", CharSet = CharSet.Ansi)] private static extern int lstrlen( int StringPointer ); [DllImport( "kernel32.dll",EntryPoint = "lstrcpyA", CharSet = CharSet.Ansi )] private static extern int lstrcpy(string lpString1, int StringPointer ); private static string StringFromPointer(int pointer) { //.....Get the length of the LPSTR int strLen = lstrlen(pointer); //.....Allocate the NewString to the right size string s = ""; for (int i = 0; i < strLen; i++) s += " "; //.....Copy the LPSTR to the VB string lstrcpy(s, pointer); return s; }

  • Parsing GeoRSS Feed with jQuery

    - by senfo
    I'm attempting to use the jQuery jFeed plugin for parsing an Atom, GeoRSS feed and I'm running into issues extracting the information I need. For example, I need to extract the summary element and I would like to render the contents in a div on my HTML page. Additionally, I'd like to extract the contents from the georss:point elements and pass them into Google Maps to render them as points on a map. The problem is that it seems jFeed is stripping out the GeoRSS-related information. For example, I can extract the title element without issues, but it seems it doesn't extract the summary or georss:point elements, at all. Following is a snippet of the XML I'm working with: <feed xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" xmlns:georss="http://www.georss.org/georss"> <title>Search Results from DataWarehouse.HRSA.gov</title> <link rel="self" href="http://datawarehouse.hrsa.gov/HGDWDataWebService/HGDWDataService.aspx?service=HC&zip=20002&radius=10"/> <link rel="alternate" href="http://datawarehouse.hrsa.gov/"/> <author> <name>HRSA Geospatial Data Warehouse</name> </author> <id>tag:datawarehouse.hrsa.gov,2010-04-05:/</id> <updated>2010-04-05T19:25:28-05:00</updated> <entry> <title>Christ House</title> <link href="http://www.christhouse.org" /> <id>tag:datawarehouse.hrsa.gov,2010-04-05:/D388C4C6-FFA4-4091-819B-64D67DC64931</id> <summary type="xhtml"> <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <div class="vcard"> <div class="fn org">Christ House</div> <div class="adr"> <div class="street-address">1717 Columbia Rd. Am I doing something wrong or was jFeed simply not designed to work the way I want it to?

  • Parsing HTML using HtmlParser

    - by Blankman
    My html has 20 or so rows of the following HTML pattern. So the below is considered a single instance of the pattern. Each instance of this pattern represents a product. Again the below is a single instance, it spans multiple rows in the HTML table. <table> .. <!-- product starts here, this html comment is not in the real html --> <tr> <td rowspan="5" class="product" valign="top"><nobr> ????????????</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> </tr> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="5" ????????</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="6" width="100%">&nbsp;<hr></td> </tr> <!-- product ends here, this html comment is not in the real html --> <!-- above pattern repeats multiple times in the HTML --> .. <table> I am trying to use HtmlParser for this. Parser rowParser = new Parser(); rowParser.setInputHtml(page.getHtml()); // page object represents a html page rowParser.setEncoding("UTF-8"); NodeFilter productRowFilter = new AndFilter( new TagNameFilter("tr"), new HasChildFilter( new AndFilter( new TagNameFilter("td"), new HasAttributeFilter("class", "product"))) The above filter doesn't work, just showing you what I have so far. I need to somehow combine these filters, and use the last td to mark the end of the pattern i.e. the td with the colspan=6 and width=100% with child element hr. I have been struggling with this, and have resorted to Regex'ing but was told numerous times to NOT use regex for html parsing, so here I am! Your help is much appreciated!

  • XML Parsing Error: junk after document element

    I am using the following script to generate a RSS feed for my site: <?php class RSS { public function RSS() { $root = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']; require_once ("../connect.php"); } public function GetFeed() { return $this->getDetails() . $this->getItems(); } private function dbConnect() { DEFINE ('LINK', mysql_connect (DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD)); } private function getDetails() { $detailsTable = "rss_feed_details"; $this->dbConnect($detailsTable); $query = "SELECT * FROM ". $detailsTable ."   • REST web service keeps first POST parametrs

    - by Diego
    I have a web service in REST, designed with Java and deployed on Tomcat. This is the web service structure: @Path("Personas") public class Personas { @Context private UriInfo context; /** * Creates a new instance of ServiceResource */ public Personas() { } @GET @Produces("text/html") public String consultarEdad (@QueryParam("nombre") String nombre) { ConectorCliente c = new ConectorCliente("root", "cafe.sql", "test"); int edad = c.consultarEdad(nombre); if (edad == Integer.MIN_VALUE) return "-1"; return String.valueOf(edad); } @POST @Produces("text/html") public String insertarPersona(@QueryParam("nombre") String msg, @QueryParam("edad") int edad) { ConectorCliente c = new ConectorCliente("usr", "passwd", "dbname"); c.agregar(msg, edad); return "listo"; } } Where ConectorCliente class is MySQL connector and querying class. So, I had tested this with the @GET actually doing POST work, any user inputed data and information from ma Java FX app and it went direct to webservice's database. However, I changed so the CREATE operation was performed through a webservice responding to an actual POST HTTP request. However, when I run the client and add some info, parameters go OK, but in next time I input different parameters it'll input the same. I run this several times and I can't get the reason of it. This is the clients code: public class WebServicePersonasConsumer { private WebTarget webTarget; private Client client; private static final String BASE_URI = "http://localhost:8080/GetSomeRest/serviciosweb/"; public WebServicePersonasConsumer() { client = javax.ws.rs.client.ClientBuilder.newClient(); webTarget = client.target(BASE_URI).path("Personas"); } public <T> T insertarPersona(Class<T> responseType, String nombre, String edad) throws ClientErrorException { String[] queryParamNames = new String[]{"nombre", "edad"}; String[] queryParamValues = new String[]{nombre, edad}; ; javax.ws.rs.core.Form form = getQueryOrFormParams(queryParamNames, queryParamValues); javax.ws.rs.core.MultivaluedMap<String, String> map = form.asMap(); for (java.util.Map.Entry<String, java.util.List<String>> entry : map.entrySet()) { java.util.List<String> list = entry.getValue(); String[] values = list.toArray(new String[list.size()]); webTarget = webTarget.queryParam(entry.getKey(), (Object[]) values); } return webTarget.request().post(null, responseType); } public <T> T consultarEdad(Class<T> responseType, String nombre) throws ClientErrorException { String[] queryParamNames = new String[]{"nombre"}; String[] queryParamValues = new String[]{nombre}; ; javax.ws.rs.core.Form form = getQueryOrFormParams(queryParamNames, queryParamValues); javax.ws.rs.core.MultivaluedMap<String, String> map = form.asMap(); for (java.util.Map.Entry<String, java.util.List<String>> entry : map.entrySet()) { java.util.List<String> list = entry.getValue(); String[] values = list.toArray(new String[list.size()]); webTarget = webTarget.queryParam(entry.getKey(), (Object[]) values); } return webTarget.request(javax.ws.rs.core.MediaType.TEXT_HTML).get(responseType); } private Form getQueryOrFormParams(String[] paramNames, String[] paramValues) { Form form = new javax.ws.rs.core.Form(); for (int i = 0; i < paramNames.length; i++) { if (paramValues[i] != null) { form = form.param(paramNames[i], paramValues[i]); } } return form; } public void close() { client.close(); } } And this this the code when I perform the operations in a Java FX app: String nombre = nombreTextField.getText(); String edad = edadTextField.getText(); String insertToDatabase = consumidor.insertarPersona(String.class, nombre, edad); So, as parameters are taken from TextFields, is quite odd why second, third, fourth and so on POSTS post the SAME.

  • Proxy Issues with Javascript Cross Domain RSS Feed Parsing

    - by Amir
    This is my Javascript function which grabs an rss feed via the proxy script and then spits out the 5 latest rss items from the feed along with a link to my stylesheet: function getWidget (feed,limit) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xhttp=new XMLHttpRequest() } else { xhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP") } xhttp.open("GET","http://MYSITE/proxy.php?url="+feed,false); xhttp.send(""); xmlDoc=xhttp.responseXML; var x = 1; var div = document.getElementById("div"); srdiv.innerHTML = '<link type="text/css" href="http://MYSITE/css/widget.css" rel="stylesheet" /><div id="rss-title"></div></h3><div id="items"></div><br /><br /><a href="http://MYSITE">Powered by MYSITE</a>'; document.body.appendChild(div); content=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("title"); thelink=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("link"); document.getElementByTagName("rss-title").innerHTML += content[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue; for (x=1;x<=limit;srx++) { y=x; y--; var shout = '<div class="item"><a href="'+thelink[y].childNodes[0].nodeValue+'">'+content[x].childNodes[0].nodeValue+'</a></div>'; document.getElementById("items").innerHTML += shout; } } Here is the the code from proxy.php: $session = curl_init($_GET['url']); // Open the Curl session curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_HEADER, false); // Don't return HTTP headers curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); // Do return the contents of the call $xml = curl_exec($session); // Make the call header("Content-Type: text/xml"); // Set the content type appropriately echo $xml; // Spit out the xml curl_close($session); // And close the session Now when I try to load this on any domain that's not my site nothing loads. I get no JS errors, but I in the Console tab in firebug I get "407 Proxy Authentication Required" So I'm not really sure how to make this work. The goal is to be able to grab the RSS feed, parse it to grab the titles and links and spit it out into some HTML on any website on the web. I"m basically making a simple RSS widget for my site's various RSS feeds. My Javascript is wack Also, I'm really a beginner with Javascript. I know jQuery pretty well, but I wasn't able to use it in this case, because this script will be embeded on any site and I can't really rely on the jQuery library. So I was decided to write some basic Javascript relying on the default XML parsing options available. Any suggestions here would be cool. Thanks! What's with the x and y They way my site creates RSS feeds is that the first title is actually the RSS feed title. The second title is the title of the first item. The first link is the link to the first item. So when using the javascript to get the title, I had to first grab the first title (which is the RSS title) and then start with the second title that being the first title of the item. Sorry for the confusion, but I don't think this is related to my issue. Just wanted to clarify my code.

  • Parsing xml file that comes in as one object per line

    - by Casey
    I haven't been here in so long, I forgot my prior account! Anyways, I am working on parsing an xml document that comes in ugly. It is for banking statements. Each line is a <statement>all tags</statement>. Now, what I need to do is read this file in, and parse the XML document at the same time, while formatting it more human readable too. Point beeing, Original input looks like this: <statement><accountHeader><fiAddress></fiAddress><accountNumber></accountNumber><startDate>20140101</startDate><endDate>20140228</endDate><statementGroup>1</statementGroup><sortOption>0</sortOption><memberBranchCode>1</memberBranchCode><memberName></memberName><jointOwner1Name></jointOwner1Name><jointOwner2Name></jointOwner2Name></summary></statement> <statement><accountHeader><fiAddress></fiAddress><accountNumber></accountNumber><startDate>20140101</startDate><endDate>20140228</endDate><statementGroup>1</statementGroup><sortOption>0</sortOption><memberBranchCode>1</memberBranchCode><memberName></memberName><jointOwner1Name></jointOwner1Name><jointOwner2Name></jointOwner2Name></summary></statement> <statement><accountHeader><fiAddress></fiAddress><accountNumber></accountNumber><startDate>20140101</startDate><endDate>20140228</endDate><statementGroup>1</statementGroup><sortOption>0</sortOption><memberBranchCode>1</memberBranchCode><memberName></memberName><jointOwner1Name></jointOwner1Name><jointOwner2Name></jointOwner2Name></summary></statement> I need the final output to be as follows: <statement> <name></name> <address></address> </statement> This is fine and dandy. I am using the following "very slow considering 5.1 million lines, 254k data file, and about 60k statements takes around 8 minutes". foreach(String item in lines) { XElement xElement = XElement.Parse(item); sr.WriteLine(xElement.ToString().Trim()); } Then when the file is formatted this is what sucks. I need to check every single tag in transaction elements, and if a tag is missing that could be there, I have to fill it in. Our designer software will default prior values in if a tag is possible, and the current objects does not have. It defaults in the value of a prior one that was not Null. "I know, and they swear up and down it is not a bug... ok?" So, that is also taking about 5 to 10 minutes. I need to break all this down, and find a faster method for working with the initial XML. This is a preprocess action, and cannot take that long if not necessary. It just seems redundant. Is there a better way to parse the XML, or is this the best I can do? I parse the XML, write to a temp file, and then read that file in, to the output file inserting the missing tags. 2 IO runs for one process. Yuck.

  • Need help with regex parsing (in perl)

    - by Charlie
    Hi all, need some help parsing an html file in perl. I used the LWP module to retrieve a webpage into $_ with $/ undefined so there are no newline issues. Then I'm trying to find all strings matching a pattern. How do I do that? I know how to find 1 instance of it, but how do I match all instances? and what data structure would the results go to? a multi dimensional array? my text (excerpt) looks like the following: <TR> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE><A HREF="/program.cgi?pid=1233"><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA,SANS-SERIF" SIZE=2>Title 1</A></FONT></TD> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE nowrap><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA" SIZE=2>Jun 27 2010 3:00PM</FONT></TD> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE>&nbsp;</TD> </TR> <TR><TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE COLSPAN=3><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=2><BR></TD></TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3 BGCOLOR=999999><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" HEIGHT=1 WIDTH=1></TD></TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3 ><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=2><BR></TD></TR> <TR> <TD><A HREF="/program.cgi?pid=1234"><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA,SANS-SERIF" SIZE=2>Title 2</A></FONT></TD> <TD nowrap><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA" SIZE=2>Jun 29 2010 7:00PM</FONT></TD> <TD>&nbsp;</TD> </TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=2><BR></TD></TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3 BGCOLOR=999999><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" HEIGHT=1 WIDTH=1></TD></TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3 BGCOLOR=EEEEEE><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=2><BR></TD></TR> <TR> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE><A HREF="/program.cgi?pid=1235"><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA,SANS-SERIF" SIZE=2>Title 3</A></FONT></TD> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE nowrap><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA" SIZE=2>Jul 3 2010 7:00PM</FONT></TD> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE>&nbsp;</TD> </TR> I want to get the following into an array (or any structure): { ["/program.cgi?pdi=1233", "Title 1"], ["/program.cgi?pdi=1234", "Title 2"], ["/program.cgi?pdi=1235", "Title 3"] } Thanks

  • Problem with parsing strings

    - by Peter Small
    I am trying to put a line of dialog on each of a series of images. To match the dialog line with the correct image, I end each line with a forward slash (/) followed by a number to identify the matching image. I then parse each line to get the dialog and then the reference number for the image. It all works fine except that when I put the dialog line into a textView I get the whole line in the textView instead of the dialog part. What is confusing is that the console seems to indicate that the parsing of the dialog line has been carried out correctly. Here are the details of my coding: @interface DialogSequence_1ViewController : UIViewController { IBOutlet UIImageView *theImage; IBOutlet UITextView *fullDialog; IBOutlet UITextView *selectedDialog; IBOutlet UIButton *test_1; IBOutlet UIButton *test_2; IBOutlet UIButton *test_3; NSArray *arrayLines; IBOutlet UISlider *readingSpeed; NSArray *cartoonViews; NSMutableString *dialog; NSMutableArray *dialogLineSections; int lNum; } @property (retain,nonatomic) UITextView *fullDialog; @property (retain,nonatomic) UITextView *selectedDialog; @property (retain,nonatomic) UIButton *test_1; @property (retain,nonatomic) UIButton *test_2; @property (retain,nonatomic) UIButton *test_3; @property (retain,nonatomic) NSArray *arrayLines; @property (retain,nonatomic) NSMutableString *dialog; @property (retain,nonatomic) NSMutableArray *dialogLineSections; @property (retain,nonatomic) UIImageView *theImage; @property (retain,nonatomic) UISlider *readingSpeed; -(IBAction)start:(id)sender; -(IBAction)counter:(id)sender; -(IBAction)runNextLine:(id)sender; @end @implementation DialogSequence_1ViewController @synthesize fullDialog; @synthesize selectedDialog; @synthesize test_1; @synthesize test_2; @synthesize test_3; @synthesize arrayLines; @synthesize dialog; @synthesize theImage; @synthesize readingSpeed; @synthesize dialogLineSections; -(IBAction)runNextLine:(id)sender{ //Get dialog line to display from the arrayLines array NSMutableString *dialogLineDetails; dialogLineDetails =[arrayLines objectAtIndex:lNum]; NSLog(@"dialogLineDetails = %@",dialogLineDetails); //Parse the dialog line dialogLineSections = [dialogLineDetails componentsSeparatedByString: @"/"]; selectedDialog.text =[dialogLineSections objectAtIndex: 0]; NSLog(@"Dialog part of line = %@",[dialogLineSections objectAtIndex: 0]); NSMutableString *imageBit; imageBit = [dialogLineSections objectAtIndex: 1]; NSLog(@"Image code = %@",imageBit); //Select right image int im = [imageBit intValue]; NSLog(@"imageChoiceInteger = %i",im); //------more code } I get a warning on the line: dialogLineSections = [dialogLineDetails componentsSeparatedByString: @"/"]; warning: incompatible Objective-C types assigning 'struct NSArray *', expected 'struct NSMutableArray *' I don't quite understand this and have tried to change the types but to no avail. Would be grateful for some advice here.

  • parsing xml with php, children

    - by moustafa
    Hello I successfully created my parser Everything is working great except one thing since my xml is formated a little different and I am totally lost on how to assign variable to the children of . xml portion <item> <url /> <name /> - <photos> <photo>1020944_0.jpg</photo> <photo>1020944_1.jpg</photo> <photo>1020944_2.jpg</photo> </photos> <user_id /> </item> PHP code <? global $insideitem, $tag, $name, $photos, $user_id; global $count,$db; $db = mysql_connect("localhost", "user","pass"); mysql_select_db("db_name",$db); $result = mysql_query("SELECT user_id FROM table,$db); while ($myrow = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $uid=$myrow['user_id']; $UN_ID[$uid]=$uid; } $count=1; $count2=1; // ########################################################## // ************* START ELEMENT FUNCTION ********************* // ########################################################## function startElement($parser, $name, $attrs) { global $insideitem, $tag, $name, $photos, $user_id; if ($insideitem) { $tag = $name; } elseif($name == "ITEM"){ $insideitem = true; } } function endElement($parser, $name) { global $insideitem, $tag, $name, $photos, $user_id; global $count,$count2,$db,$UN_ID; if ($name == "ITEM") { if(!$UN_ID[$unique_id]){ $name=addslashes($name); $photo1=addslashes($photo); $photo2=addslashes($photo); $photo3=addslashes($photo); $photo4=addslashes($photo); $user_id=addslashes($category); $sql = "INSERT INTO table ( name, photo1, photo2, photo3, photo4, user_id ) VALUES ( '$name', '$photo', '$photo', '$photo', '$photo', '$user_id', )"; $resultupdate = mysql_query($sql); } $name=''; $photos=''; $user_id=''; } } function characterData($parser, $data) { global $insideitem, $tag, $name, $photos, $user_id; if ($insideitem) { switch ($tag) { case "NAME": $name .= $data; break; case "PHOTOS": $photos .= $data; break; case "USER_ID": $user_id .= $data; break; } } } $xml_parser = xml_parser_create(); xml_set_element_handler($xml_parser, "startElement", "endElement"); xml_set_character_data_handler($xml_parser, "characterData"); $fp = fopen("../myfile.xml","r") or die("Error reading RSS data."); while ($data = fread($fp, 4096)) // Parse each 4KB chunk with the XML parser created above xml_parse($xml_parser, $data, feof($fp)) // Handle errors in parsing or die(sprintf("XML error: %s at line %d", xml_error_string(xml_get_error_code($xml_parser)), xml_get_current_line_number($xml_parser))); fclose($fp); // ########################################################## // *********************** FREE MEMORY ********************** // ########################################################## xml_parser_free($xml_parser); ?> The number of tags can range between 1-4. I have tried searching everywhere for info on how to do this and tried everything but I just cant get it. After several days of this giving me headaches I really hope some one can enlighten me.

  • An Xml Serializable PropertyBag Dictionary Class for .NET

    - by Rick Strahl
    I don't know about you but I frequently need property bags in my applications to store and possibly cache arbitrary data. Dictionary<T,V> works well for this although I always seem to be hunting for a more specific generic type that provides a string key based dictionary. There's string dictionary, but it only works with strings. There's Hashset<T> but it uses the actual values as keys. In most key value pair situations for me string is key value to work off. Dictionary<T,V> works well enough, but there are some issues with serialization of dictionaries in .NET. The .NET framework doesn't do well serializing IDictionary objects out of the box. The XmlSerializer doesn't support serialization of IDictionary via it's default serialization, and while the DataContractSerializer does support IDictionary serialization it produces some pretty atrocious XML. What doesn't work? First off Dictionary serialization with the Xml Serializer doesn't work so the following fails: [TestMethod] public void DictionaryXmlSerializerTest() { var bag = new Dictionary<string, object>(); bag.Add("key", "Value"); bag.Add("Key2", 100.10M); bag.Add("Key3", Guid.NewGuid()); bag.Add("Key4", DateTime.Now); bag.Add("Key5", true); bag.Add("Key7", new byte[3] { 42, 45, 66 }); TestContext.WriteLine(this.ToXml(bag)); } public string ToXml(object obj) { if (obj == null) return null; StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(); XmlSerializer ser = new XmlSerializer(obj.GetType()); ser.Serialize(sw, obj); return sw.ToString(); } The error you get with this is: System.NotSupportedException: The type System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2[[System.String, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089],[System.Object, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089]] is not supported because it implements IDictionary. Got it! BTW, the same is true with binary serialization. Running the same code above against the DataContractSerializer does work: [TestMethod] public void DictionaryDataContextSerializerTest() { var bag = new Dictionary<string, object>(); bag.Add("key", "Value"); bag.Add("Key2", 100.10M); bag.Add("Key3", Guid.NewGuid()); bag.Add("Key4", DateTime.Now); bag.Add("Key5", true); bag.Add("Key7", new byte[3] { 42, 45, 66 }); TestContext.WriteLine(this.ToXmlDcs(bag)); } public string ToXmlDcs(object value, bool throwExceptions = false) { var ser = new DataContractSerializer(value.GetType(), null, int.MaxValue, true, false, null); MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); ser.WriteObject(ms, value); return Encoding.UTF8.GetString(ms.ToArray(), 0, (int)ms.Length); } This DOES work but produces some pretty heinous XML (formatted with line breaks and indentation here): <ArrayOfKeyValueOfstringanyType xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/Arrays" xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <KeyValueOfstringanyType> <Key>key</Key> <Value i:type="a:string" xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">Value</Value> </KeyValueOfstringanyType> <KeyValueOfstringanyType> <Key>Key2</Key> <Value i:type="a:decimal" xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">100.10</Value> </KeyValueOfstringanyType> <KeyValueOfstringanyType> <Key>Key3</Key> <Value i:type="a:guid" xmlns:a="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/">2cd46d2a-a636-4af4-979b-e834d39b6d37</Value> </KeyValueOfstringanyType> <KeyValueOfstringanyType> <Key>Key4</Key> <Value i:type="a:dateTime" xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">2011-09-19T17:17:05.4406999-07:00</Value> </KeyValueOfstringanyType> <KeyValueOfstringanyType> <Key>Key5</Key> <Value i:type="a:boolean" xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">true</Value> </KeyValueOfstringanyType> <KeyValueOfstringanyType> <Key>Key7</Key> <Value i:type="a:base64Binary" xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">Ki1C</Value> </KeyValueOfstringanyType> </ArrayOfKeyValueOfstringanyType> Ouch! That seriously hurts the eye! :-) Worse though it's extremely verbose with all those repetitive namespace declarations. It's good to know that it works in a pinch, but for a human readable/editable solution or something lightweight to store in a database it's not quite ideal. Why should I care? As a little background, in one of my applications I have a need for a flexible property bag that is used on a free form database field on an otherwise static entity. Basically what I have is a standard database record to which arbitrary properties can be added in an XML based string field. I intend to expose those arbitrary properties as a collection from field data stored in XML. The concept is pretty simple: When loading write the data to the collection, when the data is saved serialize the data into an XML string and store it into the database. When reading the data pick up the XML and if the collection on the entity is accessed automatically deserialize the XML into the Dictionary. (I'll talk more about this in another post). While the DataContext Serializer would work, it's verbosity is problematic both for size of the generated XML strings and the fact that users can manually edit this XML based property data in an advanced mode. A clean(er) layout certainly would be preferable and more user friendly. Custom XMLSerialization with a PropertyBag Class So… after a bunch of experimentation with different serialization formats I decided to create a custom PropertyBag class that provides for a serializable Dictionary. It's basically a custom Dictionary<TType,TValue> implementation with the keys always set as string keys. The result are PropertyBag<TValue> and PropertyBag (which defaults to the object type for values). The PropertyBag<TType> and PropertyBag classes provide these features: Subclassed from Dictionary<T,V> Implements IXmlSerializable with a cleanish XML format ToXml() and FromXml() methods to export and import to and from XML strings Static CreateFromXml() method to create an instance It's simple enough as it's merely a Dictionary<string,object> subclass but that supports serialization to a - what I think at least - cleaner XML format. The class is super simple to use: [TestMethod] public void PropertyBagTwoWayObjectSerializationTest() { var bag = new PropertyBag(); bag.Add("key", "Value"); bag.Add("Key2", 100.10M); bag.Add("Key3", Guid.NewGuid()); bag.Add("Key4", DateTime.Now); bag.Add("Key5", true); bag.Add("Key7", new byte[3] { 42,45,66 } ); bag.Add("Key8", null); bag.Add("Key9", new ComplexObject() { Name = "Rick", Entered = DateTime.Now, Count = 10 }); string xml = bag.ToXml(); TestContext.WriteLine(bag.ToXml()); bag.Clear(); bag.FromXml(xml); Assert.IsTrue(bag["key"] as string == "Value"); Assert.IsInstanceOfType( bag["Key3"], typeof(Guid)); Assert.IsNull(bag["Key8"]); //Assert.IsNull(bag["Key10"]); Assert.IsInstanceOfType(bag["Key9"], typeof(ComplexObject)); } This uses the PropertyBag class which uses a PropertyBag<string,object> - which means it returns untyped values of type object. I suspect for me this will be the most common scenario as I'd want to store arbitrary values in the PropertyBag rather than one specific type. The same code with a strongly typed PropertyBag<decimal> looks like this: [TestMethod] public void PropertyBagTwoWayValueTypeSerializationTest() { var bag = new PropertyBag<decimal>(); bag.Add("key", 10M); bag.Add("Key1", 100.10M); bag.Add("Key2", 200.10M); bag.Add("Key3", 300.10M); string xml = bag.ToXml(); TestContext.WriteLine(bag.ToXml()); bag.Clear(); bag.FromXml(xml); Assert.IsTrue(bag.Get("Key1") == 100.10M); Assert.IsTrue(bag.Get("Key3") == 300.10M); } and produces typed results of type decimal. The types can be either value or reference types the combination of which actually proved to be a little more tricky than anticipated due to null and specific string value checks required - getting the generic typing right required use of default(T) and Convert.ChangeType() to trick the compiler into playing nice. Of course the whole raison d'etre for this class is the XML serialization. You can see in the code above that we're doing a .ToXml() and .FromXml() to serialize to and from string. The XML produced for the first example looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <properties> <item> <key>key</key> <value>Value</value> </item> <item> <key>Key2</key> <value type="decimal">100.10</value> </item> <item> <key>Key3</key> <value type="___System.Guid"> <guid>f7a92032-0c6d-4e9d-9950-b15ff7cd207d</guid> </value> </item> <item> <key>Key4</key> <value type="datetime">2011-09-26T17:45:58.5789578-10:00</value> </item> <item> <key>Key5</key> <value type="boolean">true</value> </item> <item> <key>Key7</key> <value type="base64Binary">Ki1C</value> </item> <item> <key>Key8</key> <value type="nil" /> </item> <item> <key>Key9</key> <value type="___Westwind.Tools.Tests.PropertyBagTest+ComplexObject"> <ComplexObject> <Name>Rick</Name> <Entered>2011-09-26T17:45:58.5789578-10:00</Entered> <Count>10</Count> </ComplexObject> </value> </item> </properties>   The format is a bit cleaner than the DataContractSerializer. Each item is serialized into <key> <value> pairs. If the value is a string no type information is written. Since string tends to be the most common type this saves space and serialization processing. All other types are attributed. Simple types are mapped to XML types so things like decimal, datetime, boolean and base64Binary are encoded using their Xml type values. All other types are embedded with a hokey format that describes the .NET type preceded by a three underscores and then are encoded using the XmlSerializer. You can see this best above in the ComplexObject encoding. For custom types this isn't pretty either, but it's more concise than the DCS and it works as long as you're serializing back and forth between .NET clients at least. The XML generated from the second example that uses PropertyBag<decimal> looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <properties> <item> <key>key</key> <value type="decimal">10</value> </item> <item> <key>Key1</key> <value type="decimal">100.10</value> </item> <item> <key>Key2</key> <value type="decimal">200.10</value> </item> <item> <key>Key3</key> <value type="decimal">300.10</value> </item> </properties>   How does it work As I mentioned there's nothing fancy about this solution - it's little more than a subclass of Dictionary<T,V> that implements custom Xml Serialization and a couple of helper methods that facilitate getting the XML in and out of the class more easily. But it's proven very handy for a number of projects for me where dynamic data storage is required. Here's the code: /// <summary> /// Creates a serializable string/object dictionary that is XML serializable /// Encodes keys as element names and values as simple values with a type /// attribute that contains an XML type name. Complex names encode the type /// name with type='___namespace.classname' format followed by a standard xml /// serialized format. The code implements ReadXml and WriteXml for the IXmlSerializable implementation using old school XmlReaders and XmlWriters (because it's pretty simple stuff - no need for XLinq here). Then there are two helper methods .ToXml() and .FromXml() that basically allow your code to easily convert between XML and a PropertyBag object. In my code that's what I use to actually to persist to and from the entity XML property during .Load() and .Save() operations. It's sweet to be able to have a string key dictionary and then be able to turn around with 1 line of code to persist the whole thing to XML and back. Hopefully some of you will find this class as useful as I've found it. It's a simple solution to a common requirement in my applications and I've used the hell out of it in the  short time since I created it. Resources You can find the complete code for the two classes plus the helpers in the Subversion repository for Westwind.Utilities. You can grab the source files from there or download the whole project. You can also grab the full Westwind.Utilities assembly from NuGet and add it to your project if that's easier for you. • MySQL – Grouping by Multiple Columns to Single Column as A String

    - by Pinal Dave
    In this post titled SQL SERVER – Grouping by Multiple Columns to Single Column as A String we have seen how to group multiple column data in comma separate values in a single row grouping by another column by using FOR XML clause. In this post we will see how we can produce the same result using the GROUP_CONCAT function in MySQL. Let us create the following table and data. CREATE TABLE TestTable (ID INT, Col VARCHAR(4)); INSERT INTO TestTable (ID, Col) SELECT 1, 'A' UNION ALL SELECT 1, 'B' UNION ALL SELECT 1, 'C' UNION ALL SELECT 2, 'A' UNION ALL SELECT 2, 'B' UNION ALL SELECT 2, 'C' UNION ALL SELECT 2, 'D' UNION ALL SELECT 2, 'E'; Now to generate csv values of the column col for each ID, use the following code SELECT ID, GROUP_CONCAT(col) AS CSV FROM TestTable GROUP BY ID; The result is ID CSV 1 A,B,C 2 A,B,C,D,E You can also change the delimiters. For example instead of comma, if you want to have a pipe symbol (|), use the following SELECT ID, REPLACE(GROUP_CONCAT(col),',','|') AS CSV FROM TestTable GROUP BY ID; The result is ID CSV 1 A|B|C 2 A|B|C|D|E MySQL makes this very simple with its support of GROUP_CONCAT function. • Ad-hoc String Manipulation With Visual Studio

    - by Liam McLennan
    Visual studio supports relatively advanced string manipulation via the ‘Quick Replace’ dialog. Today I had a requirement to modify some html, replacing line breaks with unordered list items. For example, I need to convert: Infrastructure<br/> Energy<br/> Industrial development<br/> Urban growth<br/> Water<br/> Food security<br/> to: <li>Infrastructure</li> <li>Energy</li> <li>Industrial development</li> <li>Urban growth</li> <li>Water</li> <li>Food security</li> This cannot be done with a simple search-and-replace but it can be done using the Quick Replace regular expression support. To use regular expressions expand ‘Find Options’, check ‘Use:’ and select ‘Regular Expressions’ Typically, Visual Studio regular expressions use a different syntax to every other regular expression engine. We need to use a capturing group to grab the text of each line so that it can be included in the replacement. The syntax for a capturing group is to replace the part of the expression to be captured with { and }. So my regular expression: {.*}\<br/\> means capture all the characters before <br/>. Note that < and > have to be escaped with \. In the replacement expression we can use \1 to insert the previously captured text. If the search expression had a second capturing group then its text would be available in \2 and so on. Visual Studio’s quick replace feature can be scoped to a selection, the current document, all open documents or every document in the current solution.

  • Connection String Incorrectly Formatted [migrated]

    - by Randy E
    I'm running into some issues. Every time I launch into debug mode and hit the "Create User" button, I'm getting an exception being thrown that is due to the Connection String either being in the wrong syntax or just wrong. Using Visual Studio 2010, project is .NET 3.5 with SQL 2008 Express. This is just a personal project that I'm testing some other things with, I know this generally isn't the recommended format but for a personal small project, I don't see the point in doing it any other way. The things I'm testing actually work :) Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|Data Directory|ASPAppDatabase.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True That doesn't work. Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename="|Data Directory|ASPAppDatabase.mdf";Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True Neither does that. Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename='|Data Directory|ASPAppDatabase.mdf';Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True And again, neither does that :/ However, rather than using "|Data directory| if I use the full path to the local DB file it works just fine and no exception is thrown, and I can read and write as I need. And just to cover all my bases, here is the button click event that creates the User. protected void btnAddUser_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Membership.CreateUser(txtUserName.Text, txtPassword.Text); btnLogin_Click(sender, e); } So, what am I missing in regards to the |Data Directory|? Here is an example of the above not working correctly..taken directly from web.config. <add name="ASPAppDatabaseConnection" connectionString='Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|ASPAppDatabase.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True'/>

  • OpenWeb(String) method

    - by ybbest
    I guess this is a SharePoint beginner problem ,however it took me a while to figure out what the problem is and I will blog it to help me to remember. Basically I wrote the following code to grab some list item from my SharePoint subsite http://win-oirj50igics/RestAPI,however I got the error stating that : “<nativehr>0×80070002</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>There is no Web named / http://win-oirj50igics/RestAPI”. The problem is that OpenWeb(String) method returns the web site that is located at the specified server-relative or site-relative URL. It is the relative URL , so after I changed http://win-oirj50igics/RestAPI to RestAPI, everything works fine. using (SPSite site = new SPSite(http://win-oirj50igics/)) { SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb("http://win-oirj50igics/RestAPI"); SPQuery query = new SPQuery(); query.Query = camlDocument.InnerXml; SPListItemCollection items = web.Lists["Songs"].GetItems(query); IEnumerable<Song> sortedItems = from item in items.OfType<SPListItem>() orderby item.Title select new Song {SongName = item.Title, SongID = item.ID}; songs.AddRange(sortedItems); }

  • C# find a value from an object column using a string from another column

    - by Graham
    I have 2 list in foreach loops.. I currently use a 'switch' statement on the m.columnname and then assign the value of that column to another var map as per below.. If m.columnname = 'DocHeading' then v.docheading is assigned to map.value.. There will always be a match on m.columnname to a column in the var v. is there a way to get the value from the var v using the string from m.columnname? The reason is that the users will want to add and change column names and I dont want to have to change this code all the time.. Hope this makes sense List spreadMapping = new List(); foreach (var m in mappings) { foreach (var v in hvalues) { SpreadMappings map = new SpreadMappings(); switch (m.ColumnName) { case “DocHeading”: map.ColumnX = m.ColumnX; map.ColumnY = m.ColumnY; map.ColumnValue = v.DocHeading; map.ColumnName = m.ColumnName; map.ColumnId = v.Id; map.ColumnSheetName = sheetName; spreadMapping.Add(map); break;
