  • Java document parsing over internet using POST

    - by Travis
I've looked all around and decided to make my own library for accessing the EVE API. Requests are sent to a server address such as /account/Characters.xml.aspx. Characters.xml.aspx requires two item be submitted in POST and then it returns an XML file. So far I have this but it does not work, probably becuase I am using GET instead of POST: //Get the API data DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder(); String url = "http://api.eveonline.com/account/Characters.xml.aspx?userID="+ userID+"?apiKey="+key; Document doc = builder.parse(url); How would I go about being able to parst an XML file that is generated by submitting variables in POST?

  • Convert Java String to Array

    - by Bruce
This is a weird problem. Here is my code String reply = listen.executeUrl("http://localhost:8080/JavaBridge/reply.php); executeUrl returns as String object whatever is returned by the reply.php file. Now comes the problem. In reply.php I am returning an PHP array and reply is a String. When I do System.out.println("Reply = "+reply); I get Reply = array(2) { [0]=> string(14) "Dushyant Arora" [1]=> string(19 ) "@dushyantarora13 hi"} But reply is still a String. How do I convert it into a String array or an Array.

  • Passing variable string to create arrays (Android)

    - by dweebsonduty
    Hello all, I am a newb to Android and Java and want to write a funtion that will display a list based on a varable that I pass to the function. The function is below and the code below creates an array out of a string called type, but what I want to do is pass it a variable string and have it build a list based on that string. So if I wanted the type list I would say list_it("type") But if I try something like getResources().getStringArray(R.array.thelist); it doesn't work. Can someone point me in the right direction? public void list_it(String thelist){ String[] types = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.type); ArrayAdapter<String> mAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.list_item1, types); setListAdapter(mAdapter); ListView lv = getListView(); lv.setTextFilterEnabled(true); }

  • Config file format

    - by Felics
Hello, does anyone knows a file format for configuration files easy to read by humans? I want to have something like tag = value where value may be: String Number(int or float) Boolean(true/false) Array(of String values, Number values, Boolean values) Another structure(it will be more clear what I mean in the fallowing example) Now I use something like this: IntTag=1 FloatTag=1.1 StringTag="a string" BoolTag=true ArrayTag1=[1 2 3] ArrayTag2=[1.1 2.1 3.1] ArrayTag3=["str1" "str2" "str3"] StructTag= { NestedTag1=1 NestedTag2="str1" } and so on. Parsing is easy but for large files I find it hard to read/edit in text editors. I don't like xml for the same reason, it's hard to read. INI does not support nesting and I want to be able to nest tags. I also don't want a complicated format because I will use limited kind of values as I mentioned above. Thanks for any help.

  • Casting Class into String and Vice Versa in JAVA

    - by topgun_ivard
I have a program in which I need to store a Class object into memory by casting it into String. Is it possible to convert the String back into the original Class so that I can use that class variables? I am doing this in JAVA. Example: test.java class hello{ public String h1; public String h2; } public class test { public static void main(String[] args) { hello h = new hello(); h.h1 = "hello"; h.h2 = "world"; String s = h.toString(); System.out.println("Print s : "+s); // Now I need to convert String s into type hello so that // I can do this: // (hello)s.h1; // (hello)s.h2; } } NOTE: this is not a homework, this is a personal project and I would be grateful if anyone can help! Thanks! Ivar

  • Parsing HTML tags to find a specific Table Row

    - by moutonc
    Hello everyone I was set up with a Challenge where I must parse through an HTML page to find the end date of all the classes. I am using the HTMLAgilityPack but, this is the first time I have used it, also the webpage who ever set it up has no classes or Id's and the end dates are stored in a Tr H4 tag. I am not sure how to Parse through any hits? My Code: HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument doc = new HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument(); doc.Load(txtURL.Text); sw.WriteLine("GET /academics/academic-calendar/ HTTP/1.1"); sw.WriteLine(); String response = sr.ReadToEnd(); txtHTML.Text = response;

  • Fortran - String with unknown characters into substrings

    - by Masoud
I am trying to put an input string into sub-string arrays. The number of data in the input file are less than 10 but unknown. The number of spaces between each data is also unclear. Example: Asd B Cwqe21 Ddsw Eww I am quite novice to Fortran, so I do not know which format I should use. My problem is that I do not know the number of data (here I assumed that there are 5), so how can I make the code work? I tried the following which did not work: CHARACTER (LEN=100), DIMENSION(10) :: string READ (1,*) (string,I=1,10) It seems that the error I got was because there was no 6th string to read and put into string(6). I tried using the "Index" to find the space, but since I do not know how many spaces are in the string, it did not help me.

    - by yrajabi
I want to enter string " -< " in strings.xml file, the string has character < and I couldn't add it to xml file without error! I even tried to escaping by \ character: <string name="search_target_arrow"> -\< </string> or enclosing it between "" as below: <string name="search_target_arrow">" -< "</string> but none worked. Maybe I'm very amateur at this and the answer is not hard for you. so please tell me how you add such special chars in strings.xml?

  • Splitting html string after so many words

    - by jimbo
Hi all, I have a string that if it is longer than lets say 10 words, I want to split it into two parts. The second part will be included else-where after a 'more' link. The string will hold html tags too though. For an example the string could be: <p>This is just a test string with more words than the <strong>amount allow</strong> before split, blah blah blah</p> So in the case I would want: $string[0] // <p>This is just a test string with more words than</p>; $string[1] // <p>the <strong>amount allow</strong> before split, blah blah blah</p>; Thanks in advance

  • Only strip commas surrounded by numbers in a string

    - by overlook77
I am using StreamReader to read each line of a CSV file into a string. As I am processing each line, I need to strip out any commas that ONLY are surrounded by other numbers. For example, if the string was: "textfield1", "textfield2", "100.00", "1,070.00" I would need to only take the comma out of "1,070.00" from this entire string, resulting in: "textfield1", "textfield2", "100.00", "1070.00" Each string read from the CSV file can differ in number of fields, length, etc., so I need to use something (Regular Expressions maybe?) that looks at the entire string without hardcoding a location or blanket removal of all commas. Here is the approach I have been trying: StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(strInputFile); string nextLine = sr.ReadLine(); try { while ((nextLine = sr.ReadLine()) != null) { string rawtext = nextLine.Replace("[0-9]"+","+"[0-9]" , "[0-9]"+"[0-9]"); // ....rest of code } } This obviously doesn't work because I don't understand how to do this :) I am new at C# and inexperienced in Regex, so hopefully this is relatively simple.

  • What is the differance between those two Strings in Java

    - by user1816808
why when we declare string in java we can't use == to compare this string and always will turn to false while if we initialize the string from the beginning it will be true . for example : import java.util.Scanner; public class MyString { /** * @param args */ public static void main(String[] args) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); String s = input.nextLine(); if(s=="Hello") system.out.println("Hello"); String d = "Hello"; if(d=="Hello") system.out.println("Hello"); } } I need an explanation please ??

  • Parsing nested JSON objects with JSON Framework for Objective-C

    - by Sheehan Alam
I have the following JSON object: { "response": { "status": 200 }, "messages": [ { "message": { "user": "value" "pass": "value", "url": "value" } ] } } I am using JSON-Framework (also tried JSON Touch) to parse through this and create a dictionary. I want to access the "message" block and pull out the "user", "pass" and "url" values. In Obj-C I have the following code: // Create new SBJSON parser object SBJSON *parser = [[SBJSON alloc] init]; // Prepare URL request to download statuses from Twitter NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:myURL]]; // Perform request and get JSON back as a NSData object NSData *response = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:nil error:nil]; // Get JSON as a NSString from NSData response NSString *json_string = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:response encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; //Print contents of json-string NSArray *statuses = [parser objectWithString:json_string error:nil]; NSLog(@"Array Contents: %@", [statuses valueForKey:@"messages"]); NSLog(@"Array Count: %d", [statuses count]); NSDictionary *results = [json_string JSONValue]; NSArray *tweets = [[results objectForKey:@"messages"] objectForKey:@"message"]; for (NSDictionary *tweet in tweets) { NSString *url = [tweet objectForKey:@"url"]; NSLog(@"url is: %@",url); } I can pull out "messages" and see all of the "message" blocks, but I am unable to parse deeper and pull out the "user", "pass", and "url".

  • Parsing unicode XML with Python SAX on App Engine

    - by Derek Dahmer
I'm using xml.sax with unicode strings of XML as input, originally entered in from a web form. On my local machine (python 2.5, using the default xmlreader expat, running through app engine), it works fine. However, the exact same code and input strings on production app engine servers fail with "not well-formed". For example, it happens with the code below: from xml import sax class MyHandler(sax.ContentHandler): pass handler = MyHandler() # Both of these unicode strings return 'not well-formed' # on app engine, but work locally xml.parseString(u"<a>b</a>",handler) xml.parseString(u"<!DOCTYPE a[<!ELEMENT a (#PCDATA)> ]><a>b</a>",handler) # Both of these work, but output unicode xml.parseString("<a>b</a>",handler) xml.parseString("<!DOCTYPE a[<!ELEMENT a (#PCDATA)> ]><a>b</a>",handler) resulting in the error: File "<string>", line 1, in <module> File "/base/python_dist/lib/python2.5/xml/sax/__init__.py", line 49, in parseString parser.parse(inpsrc) File "/base/python_dist/lib/python2.5/xml/sax/expatreader.py", line 107, in parse xmlreader.IncrementalParser.parse(self, source) File "/base/python_dist/lib/python2.5/xml/sax/xmlreader.py", line 123, in parse self.feed(buffer) File "/base/python_dist/lib/python2.5/xml/sax/expatreader.py", line 211, in feed self._err_handler.fatalError(exc) File "/base/python_dist/lib/python2.5/xml/sax/handler.py", line 38, in fatalError raise exception SAXParseException: <unknown>:1:1: not well-formed (invalid token) Any reason why app engine's parser, which also uses python2.5 and expat, would fail when inputting unicode?

  • Parsing a complicated array with GetJSON Jquery

    - by Ozaki
TLDR: Started with this question simplified it after got some of it working and continuing it here. I need to 'GET' the JSON array Format it correctly and for each within the array place it in the corresponding DIV. ?? It works. This is a followup from this question to simplify and continue. I need to some complicated JSON data from an array. With it I need the title and it's value. The reason why I am doing this is because I will know what the array is called but not the data that is being generated inside it. Lets say this new array looks as follows: {"Days": ["Sunday":"10.00", "Monday":"12.00", "Tuesday":"09.00", "Wednesday":"10.00", "Thursday":"02.00", "Friday":"05.00", "Saturday":"08.00"] } I would need it to get Sunday & 10.00 as well as the same for all of the others. My code to parse this at the moment is as follows: $.getJSON(url, function(data){ $.each(data, function(i,item){ $('.testfield').append('<p>' + item + '</p>'); }); }); Without the added times on each date it will parse the data as follows: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday With the times added to the days in the array Firebug no longer recognizes it as a JSON string. So I am guessing I have formatted something wrong here. Also, I need each day & time to be on a new line I thought that $('.testfield').append('<p>' + item + '</p>' + '<br />'); Would have applied each one to a new line but that did not work. How do I get each day or item to be on a new line? How do I get the $getjson to parse the data correctly day and its value, into a div?

  • parsing css measures

    - by david
When i write a jQuery plugin i like to specify options for spacings the CSS way. I wrote a function that returns a CSS String as values in a object. 5px 10px returns top: 5px, right: 10px, bottom: 5px, left: 10px Now i often use the returned values to do some calculations and its not very nice to have to extract the measuring unit every time... I suck in writing regular expressions could someone help me complete this function: this.cssMeasure = function(cssString, separateUnits){ if ( cssString ){ var values = {} }else{ return errorMsg } var spacing = cssString.split(' ') var errorMsg = 'please format your css values correctly dude' if( spacing[4] || (spacing[2] && !spacing[3]) ) { return errorMsg } else if ( spacing[3] ) { values = {top: spacing[0], right:spacing[1], bottom:spacing[2], left:spacing[3]} } else if ( spacing[1] ) { values = {top: spacing[0], right:spacing[1], bottom:spacing[0], left:spacing[1]} } else { values = {top: spacing[0], right:spacing[0], bottom:spacing[0], left:spacing[0]} } if (separateUnits) { $.each(values, function(i, value){ /* at this place i need to extract the measuring unit of each value and return them separately something like top: {value: 10, unit: 'px'}, right: {bla} and so on */ }) } return values } if you have any idea how to improve this function i am open to your comments.

  • Rails 3: Parsing XML

    - by gjb
I have a simple XML document in the following format: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <object> <strField>Foo</strField> <intField>1</intField> <dateField>2010-11-03</dateField> <boolField>true</boolField> <nilField></nilField> </object> I would like to parse this into a Hash to be passed to Model.create: {:object => { :strField => 'Foo', :intField => 1, :dateField => Date.today, :boolField => true, :nilField => nil }} Sadly there are no "type" attributes in the XML, so using Hash.from_xml just parses each field as a string. What I am looking for is some sort of field type auto detection. I have also looked at Nokogiri, but that can't output as a Hash. What is the simplest and most efficient way to achieve this? Many thanks.

  • Issue in parsing the GridViewRows in a Telerik RadGridView

    - by cricketmovies
Hi, I would like to do something similar what we do in ASP.NET where we parse through all the rows in a GridView and assign a particular value to a particular cell in a row which has a matching TaskId as the current Id. This has to happen in a Tick function of a Dispatcher Timer object. Since I have a Start Timer button Column for every row in a GridView. Upon a particular row's Start Timer Button click, I have to start its timer and display in a cell in that row. Similarly there can be multiple timers running in parallel. For this I need to be able to check the task Id of the particular task and keep updating the cell values with the updated time in all of the tasks that have a Timer Started. TimeSpan TimeRemaining = somevalue; string CurrentTaskId = "100"; foreach(GridViewRow row in RadGridView1.Rows) // Here I tried RadGridView1.ChildrenOfType() as well but it has null { if( (row.DataContext as Task).TaskId == CurrentTaskId ) row.Cells[2].Content = a.TaskTimeRemaining.ToString(); } Can someone please let me know how do I get this functionality using the Telerik RadGridView? Cheers, Syed.

  • is it possible to write a method which creates a method?

    - by Alan Bennett
hey guys, this might seem like a no brainer but hopefully after i explain my problem you might understand why i am asking this. is it possible to have a method which creates a method and its arguements? the problem: in my current project i have to many times call different sql statements which arent all that different. for example i have one where i inserts some new rows but only has 2 columns and another which also inserts new rows but has 12 columns. i have created a class called utils.cs and in there i have sorted many "handy" methods, such as validation methods which check for numeric input to text boxes etc. so i thought well instead of having sql writing methods everywhere ill make one in there and call it when i need to so i have but it currently looks like this: public static string getInsertSQL(string tablename, string colOne, string colTwo, string colThree, string colFour, string colFive, string colSix, string colSeven, string colEight, string colNine, string colTen, string colEleven, string colTwelve, bool active, string valueOne, string valueTwo, string valueThree, string valueFour, string valueFive, string valueSix, string valueSeven, string valueEight, string valueNine, string valueTen, string valueEleven) { string strSQL = ""; strSQL += "INSERT INTO " + tablename; strSQL += "(" + colOne + " " + colTwo + " " + colThree + " " + colFour + " " + colFive + " " + colSix + " " + colSeven + " " + colEight + " " + colNine + " " + colTen + " " + colEleven + " " + colTwelve + " )"; strSQL += " values ("+active+", " + valueOne + " " + valueTwo + " " + valueThree + " " + valueFour + " " + valueFive + " " + valueSix + " " + valueSeven + " " + valueEight + " " + valueNine + " " + valueTen + " " + valueEleven + " )"; return strSQL; } as you can see thats quite a mess so i wondered if it was at all possible to write a method which would take an arguement of how many colums needed to be inserted and then could create a method with that many arguements. i hope you can see what i am getting at and dont just sound like a plep! thanks in advance

  • Java: Ignoring escapes when parsing XML

    - by Personman
I'm using a DocumentBuilder to parse XML files. However, the specification for the project requires that within text nodes, strings like " and < be returned literally, and not turned into the corresponding ASCII values. A previous similar question, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1979785/read-escaped-quote-as-escaped-quote-from-xml, received one answer that seems to be specific to Apache, and another that appears to simply not not do what it says it does. I'd love to be proven wrong on either count, however :) For reference, here is some code: file = new File(fileName); DocBderFac = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocBder = DocBderFac.newDocumentBuilder(); doc = DocBder.parse(file); NodeList textElmntLst = doc.getElementsByTagName(text); Element textElmnt = (Element) textElmntLst.item(0); NodeList txts = textElmnt.getChildNodes(); String txt = ((Node) txts.item(0)).getNodeValue(); System.out.println(txt); I would like that println() to produce things like &quot;3&gt;2&quot; instead of "3>2" which is what currently happens. Thanks!

  • Are there any libraries for parsing "number expressions" like 1,2-9,33- in Java

    - by mihi
Hi, I don't think it is hard, just tedious to write: Some small free (as in beer) library where I can put in a String like 1,2-9,33- and it can tell me whether a given number matches that expression. Just like most programs have in their print range dialogs. Special functions for matching odd or even numbers only, or matching every number that is 2 mod 5 (or something like that) would be nice, but not needed. The only operation I have to perform on this list is whether the range contains a given (nonnegative) integer value; more operations like max/min value (if they exist) or an iterator would be nice, of course. What would be needed that it does not occupy lots of RAM if anyone enters 1-10000000 but the only number I will ever query is 12345 :-) (To implement it, I would parse a list into several (min/max/value/mod) pairs, like 1,10,0,1 for 1-10 or 11,33,1,2 for 1-33odd, or 12,62,2,10 for 12-62/10 (i. e. 12, 22, 32, ..., 62) and then check each number for all the intervals. Open intervals by using Integer.MaxValue etc. If there are no libs, any ideas to do it better/more efficient?)
