    I've noticed in recent ads that the Verizon Droid and Droid Eris have to put up acknowledgement on Lucasfilm's trademark of the word "Droid", and had to pay licensing fees to use it. I'm wondering if an app I'm building that uses the word Droid in the naming is violating said trademark. I've noticed other apps that do it (Twitdroid), and never once considered it a problem. The name in question would be ServiceDroid.

I would like to make a word-based diff between them (like whe unix utility wdiff does) but with more information in the output (I mean, the character's posizion where the added/delited word starts).     Is there a phrase or word to describe an algorithim or programme is complete in that given any value for its arguments there is a defined outcome? i.e. all the ramifications have been considered whatever the context? A simple example would be the below function: function returns string get_item_type(int type_no) { if(type_no < 10) return "hockey stick" else if (type_no < 20) return "bulldozer" else return "unknown" } (excuse the dismal pseudo code) No matter what number is supplied all possibiblites are catered for. My question is: is there a word to fill the blank here: "get_item_type() is ______ complete" ? (The answer is not Turing Complete - that is something quite different - but I annoyingly always think of something as "Turing Complete" when I am thinking of the above).

    I'm writing a sokoban solver for fun and practice, it uses a simple algorithm (something like BFS with a bit of difference). now i want to estimate its running time ( O and omega). but need to know how to calculate count of acyclic paths from a vertex to another in a network. actually I want an expression that calculates count of valid paths, between two vertices of a m*n matrix of vertices. a valid path: visits each vertex 0 or one times. have no circuits for example this is a valid path: but this is not: What is needed is a method to find count of all acyclic paths between the two vertices a and b. comments on solving methods and tricks are welcomed.

  • How to suppress a group header based on running-count results?

    Hi I'm trying to suppress a group header when there are no detailed results in another following group. I have added a manual running count total which is showing correct numbers (such as 0 when no records show on the report). I've taken this approach since I have various items suppressed within the detailed section and don't want them as part of the count. I'm trying to say in the header not to shown the header if there are no corresponding records showing in the detailed section. But, it's not working. When I say suppress if the display count is 0, it suppresses all of the headers instead of just the ones that need to be displayed. HOW CAN I FIX THIS? THANKS... Sarah

  • Hash Table: Should I increase the element count on collisions?

    Hi, Right now my hash tables count the number of every element inserted into the hash table. I use this count, with the total hash table size, to calculate the load factor and when it reaches like 70%, I rehash it. I was thinking that maybe I should only count the inserted elements with fills an empty slot instead of all of them. Cause the collision method I'm using is separate chaining. The factor load keeps increasing but if there can be a few collisions leaving lots of empty slots on the hash table. You are probably thinking that if I have that many collisions, maybe I'm not using the best hashing method. But that's not the point, I'm using one of the know hashing algorithms out there, I tested 3 of them on my sample data and selected the one who produced less collisions. My question still remains. Should I keep counting every element inserted, or just the ones that fill an empty slot in the Hash Table?

    Hi I am using mssql and I want to make a query that returns a count back with a where clause. Like say I have a product Table ProductId ProductName Active So how would I make it I have like Select Count(*) From Product now I don't know how to filter it so it only could if Active = true; So if there are 3 active products then it would return a count of 3 even if there is a hundred rows in the db and the other 97 are only not active. so the where clause would be probably like where active = true I am not sure how to put them together though.

    I'm just getting into Python and I really like the terseness of the syntax. However; is there an easier way of writing an if-then statement so it fits on one line? For example; say I have the simple test: if count == N: count = 0 else: count = N + 1 is there a simpler way of writing this? I mean, in Objective-C I would write this as: count = count == N ? count = 0 : count = N + 1; Is there something similar for python? Edit I know that in this instance I can use count == count % N. I'm asking about the general syntax.

So essentially I want to make a statistic of what my website users use as an email host website. but like I said and I will repeat the third time, I do not know every mailhost that exists. I am going to investigate this more, I have a feeling this is something mysql cannot handle.

    I would like to restrict users from inserting more than 3 records with color = 'Red' in my FOO table. My intentions are to A) retrieve the current count so that I can determine whether another record is allowed and B) prevent any other processes from inserting any Red records while this one is in process, hence the for update of. I'd like to do something like: cursor cur_cnt is select count(*) cnt from foo where foo.color = 'Red' for update of foo.id; Will this satisfy both my requirements or will it not lock only the rows in the count(*) who had foo.color = 'Red'?

I am showing the count of orders on the y-axis and the day on the x-axis. In my database, there is table called "order" in which order data is placed: order date, user_id, order_price, etc. For example, if on 4 July, 10 orders are placed, on 5 july, 20 orders are placed, and so on.
