• Passing value in silverlight

  How can pass a value from one page to another page in silverlight. I have one silver light application which contains two pages, one xaml.cs file and one asmx.cs file. I have one text box in xaml page names Text1. My requirement is that at the time of running, i could pass the textbox value to asmx.cs file. • segfault on vector<struct>

  Hello, I created a struct to hold some data and then declared a vector to hold that struct. But when I do a push_back I get damn segfault and I have no idea why! My struct is defines as: typedef struct Group { int codigo; string name; int deleted; int printers; int subpage; /*included this when it started segfaulting*/ Group(){ name.reserve(MAX_PRODUCT_LONG_NAME); } ~Group(){ name.clear(); } Group(const Group &b) { codigo = b.codigo; name = b.name; deleted = b.deleted; printers = b.printers; subpage = b.subpage; } /*end of new stuff*/ }; Originally, the struct didn't have the copy, constructor or destructor. There is one this that is bothering me as hell! When I first push some data into the vector, everything goes fine. Later on in the code when I try to push some more data into the vector, my app just segfaults! The vector is declared vector<Group> Groups and is a global variable to the file where I am using it. No externs anywhere else, etc... I can trace the error to: _M_deallocate(this->_M_impl._M_start, this->_M_impl._M_end_of_storage- this->_M_impl._M_start); in vector.tcc when I finish adding/copying the last element to the vector.... As far as I can tell. I shouldn't be needing anything to do with a copy constructor as a shallow copy should be enough for this. I'm not even allocating any space (but I did a reserve for the string to try out). I have no idea what the problem is! I'm running this code on OpenSuse 10.2 with gcc 4.1.2 I'm not really to eager to upgrade gcc because of backward compatibility issues... This code worked "perfectly" on my windows machine. • Linux servers going into Halt when pressing Control-D in putty or exit in the shell

  Since today at noon, there's a number of Linux CentOS servers which are going to Halt whenever i type exit or use Control-D to close the putty window. Did anyone encounter this weird behavior before? I've checked the aliases list on the servers and there is no alias regarding halt command. After the server came online i've checked the history and saw a "logout" command there but nothing which is related to Halt. At first, i thought it happens only from my computer but later i realized that it happens to everyone which types exit, logout or control+d. 2 of these server are our main iptables firewalls and so it's super critical, your assistance is much appreciated. What I'm doing, is when information at one level is missing, taking the information from a level below it, to building the missing list, in the level above.   Hi, I'm trying to create call a batch file which sets a bunch of environment variables prior to building. The batch file looks something like this (it's automatically generated before-hand to detect ATI Stream SDK or NVidia CUDA toolkit): set OCL_LIBS_X86="%ATISTREAMSDKROOT%libs\x86" set OCL_LIBS_X64="%ATISTREAMSDKROOT%libs\x86_64" set OCL_INCLUDE="%ATISTREAMSDKROOT%include" However, the rest of the build doesn't seem to have access to these variables, so when I try to reference $(OCL_INCLUDE) in the C/C++GeneralAdditional include directories, it will first give me warning that environment variable $(OCL_INCLUDE) was not found, and when I try to include CL/cl.hpp the compile will fail with: fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'CL/cl.hpp': No such file or directory I know that I could put these variables into the registry if I wanted to access them from the visual studio GUI, but I would really prefer not to do this. Is there a way to to get these environment variables to stick after the pre-build events? I can't reference $(ATISTREAMSDKROOT) directly because the project must be able to build for both ATI Stream and NVidia Cuda.

  I have a webrequest that returns a html response which has form inside with hidden fields with some javascript that submits the form automatically on pageload ( if this was run in a browser). If I save this file as *.html and run this file in browser , the java script code automatically posts the form and the output is excel file. I want to be able to generate this file from a c# code which is not running in broswer. I tried mocking thr form post but its complicated and has various scenarios based on the original webrequest querystring. any pointers.... i know its not possible to probably run JS code that posts the form - from within c# code but still thought of chekcing if someone has done that.

  I have a model that is using Paperclip to manage the file. After I delete the model, I obviously would like the file to be deleted as well, but I cannot seem to find out how to get the file deleted using Paperclip. I have tried self.sourcefile = nil if !sourcefile.dirty? in the before_destroy def, but that had no effect. (I want to be able to have it delete the file locally when I test, and then on S3 when I use that - So i need a pure paperclip solution) Any ideas?

• Embedded strongly-typed views with ASP.NET MVC

  I'm working on a plugin-type of system for ASP.NET MVC that loads views from an embedded assembly. I have created a VirtualPathProvider that does the work of retrieving out of the assembly. Everything is working fine except for strongly-typed views. Whenever I try to load one of those, I get an exception of: Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage'. The problem is that there is no Web.config file under the Views folder. Well, actually there is, but the system doesn't seem to want to read the embedded version. If I manually create the file under the corresponding directory in the web app, everything is fine. This isn't an acceptable workaround however, as each plugin would need its own file in its own specific directory. Does anyone know how I might get ASP to read the embedded Web.config file? • What is your most productive shortcut with Vim?

  I've heard a lot about Vim, both pros and cons. It really seems you should be (as a developer) faster with Vim than with any other editor. I'm using Vim to do some basic stuff and I'm at best 10 times less productive with Vim. The only two things you should care about when you talk about speed (you may not care enough about them, but you should) are: Using alternatively left and right hands is the fastest way to use the keyboard. Never touching the mouse is the second way to be as fast as possible. It takes ages for you to move your hand, grab the mouse, move it, and bring it back to the keyboard (and you often have to look at the keyboard to be sure you returned your hand properly to the right place) Here are two examples demonstrating why I'm far less productive with Vim. Copy/Cut & paste. I do it all the time. With all the classical editors you press Shift with the left hand, and you move the cursor with your right hand to select text. Then Ctrl+C copies, you move the cursor and Ctrl+V pastes. With Vim it's horrible: yy to copy one line (you almost never want the whole line!) [number xx]yy to copy xx lines into the buffer. But you never know exactly if you've selected what you wanted. I often have to do [number xx]dd then u to undo! Another example? Search & replace. In PSPad: Ctrl+f then type what you want you search for, then press Enter. In Vim: /, then type what you want to search for, then if there are some special characters put \ before each special character, then press Enter. And everything with Vim is like that: it seems I don't know how to handle it the right way. NB : I've already read the Vim cheat sheet :) My question is: What is the way you use Vim that makes you more productive than with a classical editor?

• Storing uploaded content on a website

  For the past 5 years, my typical solution for storing uploaded files (images, videos, documents, etc) was to throw everything into an "upload" folder and give it a unique name. I'm looking to refine my methods for storing uploaded content and I'm just wondering what other methods are used / preferred. I've considered storing each item in their own folder (folder name is the Id in the db) so I can preserve the uploaded file name. I've also considered uploading all media to a locked folder, then using a file handler, which you pass the Id of the file you want to download in the querystring, it would then read the file and send the bytes to the user. This is handy for checking access, and restricting bandwidth for users.

• Why can't I include these data files in a Python distribution using distutils?

  I'm writing a setup.py file for a Python project so that I can distribute it. The aim is to eventually create a .egg file, but I'm trying to get it to work first with distutils and a regular .zip. This is an eclipse pydev project and my file structure is something like this: ProjectName src somePackage module1.py module2.py ... config propsFile1.ini propsFile2.ini propsFile3.ini setup.py Here's my setup.py code so far: from distutils.core import setup setup(name='ProjectName', version='1.0', packages=['somePackage'], data_files = [('config', ['..\config\propsFile1.ini', '..\config\propsFile2.ini', '..\config\propsFile3.ini'])] ) When I run this (with sdist as a command line parameter), a .zip file gets generated with all the python files - but the config files are not included. I thought that this code: data_files = [('config', ['..\config\propsFile1.ini', '..\config\propsFile2.ini', '..\config\propsFile3.ini'])] indicates that those 3 specified config files should be copied to a "config" directory in the zip distribution. Why is this code not accomplishing anything? What am I doing wrong? (I have also tried playing around with the paths of the config files... But nothing seems to help. Would Python throw an error or warning if the path was incorrect / file was not found?)
