  • Importing AutoCAD/Solidworks drawings/objects into winforms?

    Has anybody done anything like that? I need to import 3d objects, done in either AutoCAD or Solidworks, and draw them into a windows form. I only need the object to be viewed in 3D and moved around - no manipulation required. I am assuming I will need 2 libraries at least, one for a very simple 3D engine, and one to actually get what I need from the CAD/SW files. Autodesk has a SDK available for developing AutoCAD plugins using .NET, but I am not sure if you can use it the other way around - loading files into the .NET app. Any help, links, and ideas are appreciated.

If my html template contains the css styles: <div class="margin:10 10 10 0"> <a href="domain.name">Go To</a></div> In this case it works good. But if I send: <a href="domain.name">Go&nbsp;To</a> then I see the letter that comes with broken styles as there (3D is not my misprint) <div style=3D"margin:10 10 10 10;"><a href=3D"www.google.com">Go=C2=A0To</a></div> Well as the letter goes broken when I insert in the template symbols from national alphabets. Somebody can tell what the problem and check with yourself?

First, i thought that i could use wpf 3D to make the visualizer, but i need to work with light .. My main application should send property ( beam angle, orientation (X,Y), position(X,Y), Brush ( color,shape,effect)) to the 3D visualizer But i would like to be able to move light (position in the scene) by mouse during execution and had value in return... So .. Does XNA is the easiest way to doing that ? It works on firefox, but safari just shows an empty download window. IE also can't get the file. Below is the example link.   • How do I forward map a point in OpenCV using mapx & mapy?

    Ultimately, I'm trying to determine the 3D location of a point I've identified in two cameras (using OpenCV 2.3.1, Windows 7, C++). I'm having trouble locating the 2D point for each camera from its mapx & mapy. I could not find in Bradski & Kaehler's OpenCV book how to do it. PROCESS calibrateCamera for each of the pair stereoCalibrate stereoRectify detect the blob I want to locate in 3D on each camera in 2D initUndistortRectifyMap for each camera Eventually, perspectiveTransform PROBLEM with 5: I have the x and y location of the point in the distorted and unrectified image for each camera(from #4) but I don't know how to get the undistorted and rectified x and y for each camera from the two maps initUndistortRectifyMap creates for each camera. I don't want to remap the whole image since I only want to learn the 3D location of one object for each frame. QUESTION: How do I forward map a point (get the undistorted and rectified x and y) with its two maps? Thanks for any help.

    I'm using QGraphicsView to show a 2D image and also have a separate QGLWidget window to display some 3D object. I'm dynamically changing the image displayed in `QGraphicsView' based on the rotation of the 3D object. I would like to render a semi-transparent 3D object on top of the 2D image, something like Maya 2009 used to do (notice the cube in the upper right corner of the viewport): Is it possible to do this with my current widgets? If not, how could it be done? One option I can think of would be to render everything in QGLWidget and display the 2D image as a texture on a background plane, but that seems slightly painful.

  • Nonstatic conversion functions; Casting different types, e.g. DirectX vector to OpenGL vector

    I am currently working on a game "engine" that needs to move values between a 3D engine, a physics engine and a scripting language. Since I need to apply vectors from the physics engine to 3D objects very often and want to be able to control both the 3D, as well as the physics objects through the scripting system, I need a mechanism to convert a vector of one type (e.g. vector3d<float>) to a vector of the other type (e.g. btVector3). Unfortunately I can make no assumptions on how the classes/structs are laid out, so a simple reinterpret_cast probably won't do. So the question is: Is there some sort of 'static'/non-member casting method to achieve basically this: vector3d<float> operator vector3d<float>(btVector3 vector) { // convert and return } btVector3 operator btVector3(vector3d<float> vector) { // convert and return } Right now this won't compile since casting operators need to be member methods. (error C2801: 'operator foo' must be a non-static member)

  • EGL initialized failed

    Hello Everybody, I used a SurfaceView and EGL to render my 3D contents. When I press BACK and return my activity, the activity's 3D objects become to white. The reason is when the original activity(3D activity) resume, EGL would initialize again. So EGL would initialize and destroy everytime when different activities switch. I am not sure if the problem is EGL initialize twice... but I did initialize and destroy EGL correctly. Anybody have this problem ? Have any solutions about this ?? Thank you so much

    In OpenGL, you can actually draw text with an XYZ position, and it will appear at that location, but in a fixed size. If anyone's played MechWarrior 2, they used it there for nav points. The text had a 3d position, but it always appeared a fixed size. The nav point was actually a bit of text at that exact point in space. Other than that the ability to place 3d text was pretty much useless.. you'd always want text to be 2d, righT? I'm finally in a position where I want this feature. I have these points in space that I need to assign text information to, i.e. I need to draw text at a fixed size but with a 3d position. Can this be done from DirectX?

    I'd like to create an image slider with some cool 3d effects, such as this one: http://tympanus.net/codrops/2011/09/05/slicebox-3d-image-slider/ The thing is, while I know how to use CSS3 3D transforms to rotate something, I don't know how to animate "parts" of an image. In the link above, the script seems to somehow "slice" the image into several pieces, and then animate those separately. However, the image was not sliced up beforehand - it is one whole image. Can anyone recommend any tutorials on how to achieve this effect, or perhaps just give the name of whatever technique was used to do this? Thank you in advance!

    I am having a problem figuring how to check a string for the same characters in a row then count that same character in a row then printing it out then giving the location of the last occorance of that character count then printing it out then moving to the next character in the string that is different then the previous character and the program is case sensitive. So the input could be: aaaaAAAbbbddccc How would I compress this string to: a4A3b3d2c3 ? and then decompress it?

    Hi, I am having trouble with an cups installation. It seems to be in a broken state. When i try to reinstall it it stalls, the same if i try to remove it completely. I am running the server version 64 bit of Ubuntu 10.10 with kernel Linux version 2.6.35-22-server. When i try to start the cups daemon with the following command sudo service cups start It just stays there and nothing happens. I have tried to remove it, to be able to reinstall it, with the following command sudo apt-get purge cups It finally stalls with the following message Removing cups ... After that nothing happens.   • OpenGL or OpenGL ES

    What should I learn? OpenGL 4.1 or OpenGL ES 2.0? I will be developing desktop applications using Qt but I may start developing mobile applications in a few months, too. I don't know anything about 3D, 3D math, etc and I'd rather spend 100 bucks in a good book than 1 week digging websites and going through trial and error. One problem I see with OpenGL 4.1 is as far as I know there is no book yet (the most recent ones are for OpenGL 3.3 or 4.0), while there are books on OpenGL ES 2.0. On the other hand, from my naive point of view, OpenGL 4.1 seems like OpenGL ES 2.0 + additions, so it looks like it would be easier/better to first learn OpenGL ES 2.0, then go for the shader language, etc Please, don't tell me to use NeHe (it's generally agreed it's full of bad/old practices), the Durian tutorial, etc. Thanks

  • Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

    Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia.     Last week was the eighteenth JavaOne conference and I thought it would be a good idea to write up my thoughts about how things went. Firstly thanks to Yoshio Terada for the photos, I didn't bother bringing a camera with me so it's good to have some pictures to add to the words. Things kicked off full-throttle on Sunday.  We had the Java Champions and JUG leaders breakfast, which was a great way to meet up with a lot of familiar faces and start talking all things Java.  At midday the show really started with the Strategy and Technical Keynotes.  This was always going to be tougher job than some years because there was no big shiny ball to reveal to the audience.  With the Java EE 7 spec being finalised a few months ago and Java SE 8, Java ME 8 and JDK8 not due until the start of next year there was not going to be any big announcement.  I thought both keynotes worked really well each focusing on the things most important to Java developers: Strategy One of the things that is becoming more and more prominent in many companies marketing is the Internet of Things (IoT).  We've moved from the conventional desktop/laptop environment to much more mobile connected computing with smart phones and tablets.  The next wave of the internet is not just billions of people connected, but 10s or 100s of billions of devices connected to the network, all generating data and providing much more precise control of almost any process you can imagine.  This ties into the ideas of Big Data and Cloud Computing, but implementation is certainly not without its challenges.  As Peter Utzschneider explained it's about three Vs: Volume, Velocity and Value.  All these devices will create huge volumes of data at very high speed; to avoid being overloaded these devices will need some sort of processing capabilities that can filter the useful data from the redundant.  The raw data then needs to be turned into useful information that has value.  To make this happen will require applications on devices, at gateways and on the back-end servers, all very tightly integrated.  This is where Java plays a pivotal role, write once, run everywhere becomes essential, having nine million developers fluent in the language makes it the defacto lingua franca of IoT.  There will be lots more information on how this will become a reality, so watch this space. Technical How do we make the IoT a reality, technically?  Using the game of chess Mark Reinhold, with the help of people like John Ceccarelli, Jasper Potts and Richard Bair, showed what you could do.  Using Java EE on the back end, Java SE and JavaFX on the desktop and Java ME Embedded and JavaFX on devices they showed a complete end-to-end demo. This was really impressive, using 3D features from JavaFX 8 (that's included with JDK8) to make a 3D animated Duke chess board.  Jasper also unveiled the "DukePad" a home made tablet using a Raspberry Pi, touch screen and accelerometer. Although the Raspberry Pi doesn't have earth shattering CPU performance (about the same level as a mid 1990s Pentium), it does have really quite good GPU performance so the GUI works really well.  The plans are all open sourced and available here.  One small, but very significant announcement was that Java SE will now be included with the NOOB and Raspbian Linux distros provided by the Raspberry Pi foundation (these can be found here).  No more hassle having to download and install the JDK after you've flashed your SD card OS image.  The finale was the Raspberry Pi powered chess playing robot.  Really very, very cool.  I talked to Jasper about this and he told me each of the chess pieces had been 3D printed and then he had to use acetone to give them a glossy finish (not sure what his wife thought of him spending hours in the kitchen in a gas mask!)  The way the robot arm worked was very impressive as it did not have any positioning data (like a potentiometer connected to each motor), but relied purely on carefully calibrated timings to get the arm to the right place.  Having done things like this myself in the past I know how easy it is to find a small error gets magnified into very big mistakes.
