  • Making a window a desktop in XLib/Qt

    Hello all, Since a few months I've been learning Erlang, and now it was time to do some basic GUI. After some quick research I saw there was an interesting library called 'wxi' (based on Fudgets of Haskell) which uses a different approach on GUI's. No central loop, every widget processes it's own events and handles it's own data. What do you guys think about this?     I'm trying to put together a list of JavaScript UI widget frameworks for consideration in a project. Ideally it would be a library that has a range of ready made ui widgets, no dependencies on dom/js extention/manipulation frameworks like JQuery or Prototype, minimal additional cruft, such as Ajax API's and DOM selectors etc. Here's what I have so far: qooxdoo, ScriptClient ExtJs Could anyone suggest any other that are worth a look? Please do not suggest, JQuery, Prototype, Mootools, Dojo etc, their primary focus is not to provide ui widgets.

  • Network Data Packet connectivity intent

    I am writing an Android application which can enable and disable the Network Data packet connection. I am also using one broadcast receiver to check the Network Data packet connection. I have registered broadcast receiver and provided required permission in Manifest file. But when I run this application it changes the connection state and after that it crashes. But when I don't include this broadcast receiver it works fine. I am not able to see any kind of log which can provide some clue. Any idea why I am getting this error? PS: Some information about Android environment and platform. - Android API 10. - Running on Samsung Galaxy II which has android 2.3.6 Edit: my broadcast receiver file ConnectivityReceiver.java was present in default package and it was not being recognized by Android. Android was looking for this file in current package i.e com.rakesh.simplewidget; I just moved connectivityReciever.java file to com.rakesh.simplewidget package and problem was solved.

    By selective column display i mean the following: a control shows a listing of widgets (WidgetVm.DisplayName), with the default display name being in English (WidgetVm.EnglishName), but with the option to show the widget in French (WidgetVm.FrenchName). There also sorting and filtering available, which is why CollectionViewSource seems ideal. I know you can have multiple views over the same source but I haven't figured out how to do this yet. Is that the right approach to solving this? How? Cheers, Berryl

    How do I serve files from an arbitrary directory with Turbogears2? I have a database with the local path, e.g. /home/myuser/tg2env/MyProject/myproject/files/somefile.jpg tg.url seems to only be able to serve things from the public directory. Is there a widget available, or do I need to write some sort of DownloadController?

    Hey guys, My boss has some interesting requirements for his next project and insists that we try to implement some Crystal Reports on our Access database (on his computer) into a FrontPage document (for ease of maintenance). After that, he wants an MP3 to be embedded using a RealPlayer widget because that's the only one that he likes. I'm not really sure how to do any of this. What's the best way to go about this? I am having a GtkWindow - GtkVBox - GtkHBox (With 3 Columns) In HBox in first i have put GtkImage Widget but it is very close to borders of HBox, i ned to add some padding in between, on left and right side of image not on top and bottom. can we do this using glade or we have to do this from code? thanks.

    Hi, I am working in Train Traffic Controller software project. My responsibility in this project is to develop the visual railroad GUI. We are implementing the project with Qt. By now I am using QGraphicsLinearLayout to hold my items. I am using the layout because I do not want to calculate coordinates of each item. So far I wrote item classes to add the layout. For instance SwitchItem class symbolizes railroad switch in real world. Each item class is responsible for its own painting and events. So far so good. Now I need a composite item that can contain two or more item. This class is going to be responsible for painting the items contained in it. I need this class because I have to put two or more items inside same layout cell. If I don' t put them in same cell I can' t use layout. See the image below. BlockSegmentItem and SignalItem inside same cell.     I use the jQuery-ui tabs widget as a navigation. Contents of all tabs are load via ajax. Seems that there is interference between tabs. I mean, for example, if in page1 in tab1, there is an element whose ID is foo, and in page2 in tab2, there is an element with the same ID. And in both page, there is javascript code to manipulate the element with ID foo, then weird things will happen. How to deal with this situation?

    Hi, I am trying to use an alarm to set my widget layout after some minutes. Everything works correctly in normal situation but, if I try to delete the process of my application, simulating a system kill, after the alarm is set, then no alarm is executed. Why?     I have compiled and jarred the various projects in my Java application, generating serialVersionUIDs automatically through Eclipse for all my classes derived from Serializable. I read the answers to this question, and verified that serialVersionUids are all private static final long.
