• How do I get selected background color from SecondView to pass to FirstView?

  I am going insane! This is a simple app with two Views. FirstView is a text field with info button to flip to SecondView. In SecondView I have 6 buttons for background color choice. When button is pushed the color of background changes perfectly but cannot make it also change background color for FirstView. Any help would be GREAT! Thanks! I am using Objective C class working on a iPhone app. Sorry new at this. The SecondView acts almost like a settings page in the fact that when a button is pushed the background color changes to the button color. I need it so when I push the "back" button to go back to FirstView the background color has also changed to that color choice. Been thru sooooooooo many tutorials and codes that now I am totally lost......... Thanks again!

• Registry corrupted for testing?

  Hi. Forgive my ignorance. I'm a lowly LAMP stack developer and this is my first post for "c++". We had an Internet Explorer add-on commissioned but then lost support. Allegedly each version has to be have been tested "on a fresh computer since old add-ons could have cause registry errors." I'm not familiar with IE add-on development (or c++ dev). Is this common? Can't one simply reverse registry errors? How to continue testing iterations on one machine? Thanks!

This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. I've got a C#/java background, and I'm lost... Any help would be much appreciated.

• How do you pass or share variables between django views?

  Hi, I'm kind of lost as to how to do this: I have some chained select boxes, with one select box per view. Each choice should be saved so that a query is built up. At the end, the query should be run. But how do you share state in django? I can pass from view to template, but not template to view and not view to view. Or I'm truly not sure how to do this. Please help!

• Hex Decompilers for PIC

  I've faced to a problem with a PIC Micro controller. I have a micro-controller programmed by me long time ago and I lost the relevant source code and the schematic diagrams. Now I need to invert the value of a port. I can do this using some NOT gates but it is a big hassle to do so. or alternatively I will need to write the whole program back. I don't expect to see the code back in PIC C or MikroC. Having an understandable assembly code would be sufficient. So do anyone has any experience on a good HEX decompiler that I can use for this purpose? Any comments based on your experience? :)

  Sometimes, when running a Mono .NET application (it seems to not depend on the input data, as it does not change), I run into following situation: when trying to Dequeue an element from a (non-empty, I check its Count beforehand) Queue, an exception is thrown: Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object at System.Collections.Generic.Queue1[DBWorkItem].Peek ()[0x00000] at System.Collections.Generic.Queue1[DBWorkItem].Dequeue () [0x00000] at DBProcessor.process (System.Object q) [0x0006b] in <... Though I can certainly catch this exception, the element is dequeued and lost. Has anyone else encountered this behavior, too?

  So for my programming class we have had a project to create a virtual machine including a memory unit, cpu, Input, Output, Instruction Register, Program Counter, MAR, MDR and so on. Now we need to create a compiler using Java Code that will take a .exe file written in some txt editor and convert it to java byte code and run the code. The code we will be writing in the .exe file is machine code along the lines of: IN X IN Y ADD X STO Y OUT Y STOP DC X 0 DC Y 0 I am just a beginner and only have 2 days to write this and am very lost and have no idea where to start....Any Help will be much appreciated.   I've been given the assignment to write an algorithm in C# that checks the validity of a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN). Here are the steps to validate a SIN. Given an example Number: 123 456 782 Remove the check digit (the last digit): 123456782 Extract the even digits (2,4,6,8th digith): 12345678 Double them: 2 4 6 8 | | | | v v v v 4 8 12 16 Add the digits together: 4+8+1+2+1+6 = 22 Add the Odd placed digits: 1+3+5+7 = 16 Total : 38 Validity Algorithm If the total is a multiple of 10, the check digit should be zero. Otherwise, Subtract the Total from the next highest multiple of 10 (40 in this case) The check digit for this SIN must be equal to the difference of the number and the totals from earlier (in this case, 40-38 = 2; check digit is 2, so the number is valid) I'm lost on how to actually implement this in C#, how do I do this?

  Basically, I want the same effect as the oldschool html 'frameset' I think. Take a look at this page please: http://onomadesign.com/wordpress/identity-design/alteon-a-boeing-company/ If a user selects a project from industry - transportation for example, I would like that the right scrollmenu keeps its initial state when the new project page comes up. So they won't get lost and have to click again to be in the same submenu section. So, the right thumbnail navigation should stay in the same way, I don't want it to reload. Do I have to do it with frames or iframes? Or can I make some kind of jQuery call to 'not reload' that div? Maybe PHP? I'm sorry, I am not a programmer from origin. Thanks in advance.

• WPF WebBrowser, unable to run Javascript and applet in Popups windows

  Hello All, I have a desktop application that has a control with a WebBrowser control inside. Everything works fine except with Siebel CMR popups. When it opens a new popup , Siebel tries to load an applet in the popup window but it doesn't work , it works fine in the main browser. This works perfectly with IE also. It seems to be related to some security setting but i am quite lost. Does anyone know if there is any way to modify or check the security when a new popup is opened? Thanks in advance! Fede

• Detecting if Excel file has been closed

  Hi StackOverflow, I've spent the past 3 hours trawling the web for answers to no avail, so I hope you can help me. I'm writing an application which automates Excel. The application has an option to "show/hide the excel sheet" so you can look at it, make any final changes and so forth. Closing the application will naturally close the instance of Excel, however, there is a small chance that someone may exit out of Excel directly, without thinking. This breaks my application and I can't seem to find anyway of "checking if the same workbook is still open, and if not, re-opening it", before saving it I've tried all sorts of things: checking if the Excel Application is null (when it's !=null it will save correctly, but when it "is" null (or at least, something other than !=null it won't even hit the breakpoint so I'm completely lost :( Help please?

• Access Edit Mode Values of BindingSource Control

  I have a BindingSource control (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.bindingsource.aspx) with a datasource of a (single) Linq object. If I change any of the properties of the underlying Linq-to-Sql object then all the other changes on the bound controls on the form are lost. Does anyone now why and how I work around it? I don't want to call EndEdit because this will commit the changes to the underlying object. I think this might be because my underlying object linq-to-sql object does not implement IEditableObject so the potental new values for the object fields are sort of stored in the forms controls. Can anyone either clarify what is going on and/or suggest a work around. Thanks!

I plan to have a white list of safe tags and attributes as well as a whitelist of CSS tags and value regexes (to prevent automatic return receipt). I asked a question: Parse a badly formatted XML document (like an HTML file) I found there are many many ways to do this. Some systems have built in sanitizers (which I don't care so much about). I will post some answers and say Community Wiki. Please post any other options you like and say Community Wiki so they can be voted on. Also any comments or wiki edits on what part of a certain product is better and what is not would be greatly appreciated.   Hi guys, I just lost 5 hours looking for a answer which i haven't been able to find :p First, I'd like to force a trusted application (i need to access the file system) to display into the browser. Based on what i found on google a trusted application must be installed and launched as a desktop application (also called out-of-browser application). So, i want to have an installed application on the client side but meanwhile, the user must also be able to start this same application into a browser window when he goes on my web site. Is this possible ? Second, I'd like to give to the user the possibility to start the application from the browser. To be clear be the application is installed on the client computer but i want a button on my web site which starts the desktop application. How can i do that ? Thanks

  Hello, I'm developing some rails plugins with desert, and I would like to use tests with RSpec and Cucumber in the development. RSpec is integrated by default in Desert plugins, but it gives me some bugs. Finally I have created a minimal application which use my plugin, and I try to test it like a normal application without plugin. But I dislike that solution, the plugin lost its modularity, and RSpec still returns me some bugs (he can't find the models/views/controllers located in the plugin...). So am I the only one who try to test a Desert plugin (or even in a classic plugin) ? May anyone know those matters and get a solution ?

• ImageMagick and Grails not working

  I'm trying to have ImageMagick run from grails to convert some images when I run the command to make an image nothing happens. I get no errors, no information returned nothing at all. I've tried running other commands like touch and ps ux just to see if they work and they all work fine. It just seems like the imagemagick commands are getting lost and I''m not sure what to do. Here is the code I've been working with. String command = CH.config.ImageMagickPath + "/convert -size 40x20 xc:red xc:blue -append -rotate 90 append_rotate.gif" println command command.execute() CH.config.ImageMagickPath is set up to where imagemagick/bin is. I've taken what is shown in println command and run it in a terminal and it works fine. Is there any reason why I can't get IM to work from grails?

• How can I copy a file from VMS to Windows and back again?

  I am trying to copy C source files from a vms alpha to a windows machine to allow easier editing of the code. (VMS editor is just a text editor and it would be nice to have syntax highlighting etc) I can copy this across using Exceed FTP and this handles the issue of duplicate filenames with version suffix that vms has: File.c;1 File.c;2 Flle.c;3 But when I open a file I've transferred, all the line breaks have been lost and the entire file is just one line. Can anyone recommend a solution to this or offer any hints? Thanks in advance ps. I need to be able to copy the files back to vms and still maintain format.

  I need a tool which gets a list of machine names and file wildcards. Then it connects to all these machines (SSH) and begins to monitor changes (appendings to the end) in each file matched by wildcards. New lines in each such file are saved to the local machine to the file with the same name. (This is a task of real-time log files collecting.) I could use ssh + tail -f, of course, but it is not very robust: if a monitoring process dies and then restarts, some data from remote files may be lost (because tail -f does not save the position at which it is finished before). I may write this tool manually, but before - I'd like to know if such tool already exists or not.

• Strange tab ordering when creating controls after postback

  I have a button that opens a panel in a popup window and then performs a postback to retrieve data from the server and render some controls. Some of the controls are textboxes and some are dropdown lists and can be in any order. Everything works fine when tabbing through the textbox controls. But when tabbing from the first dropdown contorl found, the tab order 'gets lost' and it starts tabbing from the first control again. When I tab to the same dropdown list the second time 'round, it correctly tabs to the next control. Does anyone know what might be going on? Example: TextBox1 (Tab -> focus set to 'TextBox2') TextBox2 (Tab -> focus set to 'DropDown1') DropDown1 (Tab -> focus goes back up to 'TextBox1' - wtf?) TextBox3 Update: The TabIndex attribute is set on all controls.

• How do I consume a COM+ local server from C#?

  I have a web application from a company that has gone out of business. We're looking to extend the web app a bit with some asp.net functionality. The web app was written as an ISAPI application in Delphi, and uses COM+ to talk to the SQL Server and handles things like session management and authentication. So, in order to get the current user and other details, I have to use the undocument COM+ components. I was able to dig out the type library and auto generated IDL, but at this point i'm lost in creating a .NET proxy class for this. Is there a way to autogenerate the .net COM+ proxy either from the .dll itself (extracting the typelib info) or from the IDL? Note: These seem to be simple COM style objects hosted in COM+ servers, no subscriptions or transaction monitoring..
