  • Get a "sqlceqp35.dll" error when debugging but not when running deployed code.

    In our current windows mobile project a problem while debugging recently arised. When trying to debug the code it throws an exception on the open command on a connection to the local database. The message is "A SQL Server Compact DLL could not be loaded. Reinstall SQL Server Compact Edition. [ DLL Name = sqlceqp35.dll ]". Sometime it's an unknow error instead, with reference to the same file. If you execute the binary, thats deployd during the debug, on the device it runs without any problem. I've tried: Reinstall both .net and sqlce on the device. Changed the "specific version" on the reference properties in the project. The hardware I'm using is a Motorola MC70 with Windows mobile 5.0. The target platform of the project is windows mobile 5.0. Any ideas on what might cause this problem? EDIT: When I tried it on a MC75 I can debug it. The MC70 got OS Version: 05.01.0478 and the MC75 05.01.0478. My best guess now is that it's someway related to the OS version or the actual device.

  • Gacutil.exe successfully adds assembly, but assembly missing from GAC. Why?

    I'm running GacUtil.exe from within Visual Studio Command Prompt 2010 to register a dll (CatalogPromotion.dll) to the GAC. After running the utility, it says Assembly Successfully added to the cache, and running gacutil /l CatalogPromotionDll shows that the GAC contains the assembly, but I can't see the assembly when I navigate to C:\WINDOWS\assembly from Windows Explorer. Why can't I see the assembly in WINDOWS\assembly from Windows Explorer but I can see it using gacutil.exe?   • How can I invoke a .Net DLL from a LabView 6.1 VI?

    I work in a manufacturing company that uses LabView for testing the devices we make. Most of the test engineers are using 7.1 which can natively reference a .Net assembly. However, there is a group that is stuck on LabView 6.1. I would like for them to be able to use my .Net assembly which is basically a proxy to some web services. I have created a test assembly that is nothing more than Hello World, and I'm trying to consume it in a VI. I made it COM visible, and registered it with regasm.exe and created a type library, which I'm not sure I need. I can see it in Visual Studio in the list of COM objects when I open the Add Reference window, so I know it's registered properly. I'm very unfamiliar with VI's. I'm only looking at it because no one I have spoken to in manufacturing knows anything about invoking a COM object in a VI. I'm basically looking for some names of controls or menu options to get the test engineers pointed in the right direction. I did a bunch of web searching on Google and the NI forums, but didn't find much. Alternatively, would it be easier to write a C or C++ DLL that acts as a proxy to my .Net DLL? Or is there a simple way to invoke a web service from a VI? That might obviate the need for a DLL altogether. I'm currently reading through this document from NI for help, but it obviously knows nothing about .Net and might not be able to help me choose the best path forward.

  • Configuration Error , Finding assembly after I swapped referenced dll out. Visual Studio 2003

    Here is the situation. I had a clean build of my asp.net web application working. I then went into the bin folder under the web app and replaced two referenced dll's with two older version of the same dll's. (Same name etc.) After testing I replaced those dll's back to the new ones and now my application keeps throwing the configuration error === Pre-bind state information === LOG: DisplayName = xxxxx.xxxx.Personalization (Partial) LOG: Appbase = file:///c:/inetpub/wwwroot/appname LOG: Initial PrivatePath = bin Calling assembly : (Unknown). LOG: Policy not being applied to reference at this time (private, custom, partial, or location-based assembly bind). I found this issue on the web and tried all the solutions to it but nothing worked. I then went into all my projects that it references under the solution and cleared out the bin/debug folder in each, I cleared out the obj folder under each and also deleted the temporary files associated with the application. I rebuilt it and it still will not work due to this error Not sure what is causing this or how to fix this issue. I have tried restarting IIS, stopping index services which was said to be a known issue. This is .net framework 1.1 app and visual studio 2003 Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

  • Why isn't pyinstaller making me an .exe file?

    I am attempting to follow this guide to make a simple Hello World script into an .exe file. I have Windows Vista with an AMD 64-bit processor I have installed Python 2.6.5 (Windows AMD64 version) I have set the PATH (if that's the right word) so that the command line recognizes Python I have installed UPX (there only seems to be a 32-bit version for Windows) and pasted a copy of upx.exe into the Python26 folder as instructed. I have installed Pywin (Windows AMD 64 Python 2.6 version) I have run Pyinstaller's Configure.py. It gives some error messages but seems to complete.   • Alternative method of viewing a database diagram in SQL Server to see what tables have gone missing?

    I have a database diagram for my database, but when I open it in SQL Server, I almost immediately get a message saying some permissions changed or tables in the diagram were dropped or renamed, and tables in the diagram vanish before I can even scroll over to see what or where they were. Basically, it's saying, "Hey, you know all that time you spent laying out tables in this diagram... half of them are going to vanish when you view it, and I'm not going to tell you which tables vanished or where they were in the diagram. You're just going to see a bunch of random empty spaces where tables used to be ;)" Ridiculous. So I thought that maybe if I look in the dbo.sysdiagrams table, I could look at some plain text definition of the diagram to get a clue about the names of the tables that went missing (because thier names were probably only changed slightly) or their coordinates in the diagram (because their spatial location would give me a clue as to what they were), so that I could re-add them, but I can't, because it's a binary definition. So, is there some other program I could use to view the existing database diagram that's not going to just drop and forget the missing tables without telling me what they were, or is this information lost and at the mercy of some SSMS-proprietary database diagram format and viewer which refuses to cooperate with me.

I just cann't switch to modern compiler, as I am working on a legacy code base. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/172396 Since there are no way to export map, my planned workaround is using static linking instead of dynamic linking. I was wondering whether you all had encountered the similar situation? What is your workaround for this? Another workaround is to create wrapper class around the stl map, to ensure creation and accessing stl map, are within the same DLL space.   • Are You Afraid of Each Other? Study Shows CMO’s/CIO’s Missing Benefits of Collaboration

    Remember that person in school you spent months being too scared to talk to?  Then when you finally did, it led to a wonderful friendship…if not something more. New research from Oracle, Social Media Today and Leader Networks shows marketing and IT need to get over whatever’s holding them back and start reaping the benefits of collaboration. Back in the old days of just a few years ago, marketing could stay on their side of the building, IT could stay on their side of the building, and both could refer to the other as “those guys.” Today, the structure of organizations is shifting from islands to “us,” one integrated body where each part knows what the other parts are doing, and all parts work together in accomplishing job one…a winning customer experience. Ignore that, and you start losing. Give your reluctance to change priority over the benefits of new collaborations, and you start losing. You’re either working together and accelerating forward or getting in the way of each other’s separate agendas and grinding down…much to your competitors’ delight. The study reveals a basic current truth: those who are collaborating in marketing and IT report being more effective, however less than 1/3 report collaborating even “frequently.” In other words, this is obviously a good thing, so we’d better not do it. Smart. The white paper, “Socially Driven Collaboration,” set out to explore how today’s always-changing digital, social and mobile landscape is forcing change across the enterprise, whether it’s welcomed or not. Part of what it found is marketing and IT leaders are not unaware of what’s going on and see their roles evolving. And both know the ability to collaborate more effectively now exists. And of those who are collaborating, over 2/3 say they’re “more effective” professionally because of it. Yet even if you don’t want to take the Oracle study’s word for it, an August 2013 Accenture study of 400 senior marketing and 250 IT executives revealed only 10% think CMO/CIO collaboration is at the right level. There’s a lot of room for improvement here, and not just around people. Collaboration is also being called for across processes and technologies. Business benefits of such collaboration cited in the Oracle study include stronger marketing messages, faster speed-to-market, greater product adoption, faster discovery of product and service shortcomings, and reduction in project costs.   • How do I report a missing package dependency during an upgrade?

    A friend of mine (somewhat new to linux) recently upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 and his OS broke from the upgrade. A few minutes of troubleshooting showed that the culprit was the PAE kernel that the upgrade decided to install since it determined he had 4GB of phyisical RAM. More specifically the upgrade forgot to install the linux-headers-generic-pae required by the closed source nvidia drivers. I'm not entirely sure how to report this bug to the devs. Its an easy fix (after booting into the non-pae kernel and installing the package everything worked), but they are encouraging users to use the built-in bug reporting system and I'm not entirely certain how to report update bugs.

  • Problem with script substitution when running script

    Hi! I'm new to Linux so this probably should be an easy fix, but I cannot see it. I have a script downloaded from official sources that is used to install additional tools for fsharp but it gives me a syntax error when running it. I tried to replace ( and ) by { and } but eventually it lead me to another error so I think this is not the problem since the script works for everybody. I read some articles that say that my bash version maybe is not the right one.   • What would cause the "gi" module to be missing from python?

    After some not so clever editing of the default Python version in Ubuntu, from 2.7 to 3.2, I ended up breaking my entire system. After my computer imploded and everything stopped working, I tried to revert back my changes (by linking /usr/bin/python2.7 to /usr/bin/python and changing the default version in /usr/share/python/debian_defaults back to 2.7) but some things are still broken. For example when I type "import gi" in the python interpreter I get the fallowing message : >>> import gi Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named gi >>> error which appears with some programs too (eg: gnome tweak tool). I have tried re-installing python both from the software center and from sources, but the same error persists. Python -- version now returns : Python 2.7.2 and also some software packages which depend on python 2.7 are now working (for example the software center), but some things are still broken. Is there anything I can do to completely re-install python 2.7 as the default version?

  • WPF and Composite Application Library &ndash; Missing The Point

    I have a headache and it’s not even 9AM yet.  Well, ok, it’s nearly ten here now in GMT –5 but it’s before nine somewhere still. Sometimes people will miss the point of something so utterly and completely that one is left wondering how such a person can even dress themselves. Writing an application using WPF and the Composite Application Library (Prism) means that one must learn the various programming idioms common to these frameworks.  The Windows Forms event driven model simply will not suffice.  You need to come to grips with the idea of a very loosely coupled application.  Concepts that must be absorbed and internalized include Data Binding, Control and Data Templates, Commands, Dependency Injection, and Inversion of Control, as well as the Supervising Controller, Presentation Model and Model-View-View-Model patterns. It is as simple as that.  Not to embrace these concepts is to invite pain.  It is to invite noodles; and not the holy kind. Someone actually said to me that “just because it’s not WPF, doesn’t mean it’s wrong.”  And he’s right.  Unless, of course, you are writing a WPF application and especially if you are using the Composite Application Library.     I have been trying to use a preseed file to do PXE booting of a 12.10 desktop. Upon the first boot, I was greeted by a terminal with login prompt. Surprised, I checked the /var/log/installer/syslog but didn't find a trace of desktop installation. Feeling curious, I double-checked the content of the loop mounted iso file, and realized that the ubuntu-desktop package that existed up to 12.04.1 is no longer available.   • Just started a job with Scrum. Something seems to be missing. I am new to Scrum

    The code is a complete mess of a combination of classic ASP/ASP.NET. The scrum consist of us patching up the big mess or making additions to it. We are all too busy doing that to start a rewrite so I am wondering.. Where is the part in Scrum where the developers can have the power to say that enough is enough and demand that they are given time to start the big rewrite ? We seem in an endless loop of just patching old code with 'Stories'. So things are being run by the non-technical people who seem to have no desire to push for a rewrite because they don't understand how bad the code base has gotten.. So who is in charge of making this big rewrite change happen ? The devs? The scrum master? The current strategy is just find time and do it ourselves without the higher ups involved.. since they are mostly to blame for the current mess we are in.. <-insert rant about non-tech people telling tech people what to do here-

  • 12.0.4.3 - Missing Battery Icon, auto Suspend not working, Keyboard shortcuts volume up/down no longer working

    Problems I am experiencing: Battery Icon not showing up unity bar (top right corner). Volume Up/Down/Mute not working. Bluetooth hot keys described above also not working.Brightness up/down keys on this keyboard no longer working (apple wireless keyboard) Laptop no longer suspends when lid is shut. I have to go to 'power' button on top right corner and click on 'Suspend' All was working flawlessly until I did the following: I have recently upgraded to Nvidia propriety driver version 319 {version recommended}. Installed Xscreensaver and then removed it and went back to default screensaver. Done a system update (1st since installing) and now currently running: Linux 3.8.0-32-generic #47~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 2 16:19:35 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux NOTE: Base system was ubuntu 12.04.3 installed from ISO however lsb_release reports "No LSB modules are available" 4.installed psensor. I have check power setting (via Settings) and power setting via dconf-editor and set to recommended settings as described in posts detailing solution to this problem. - I have disabled 1) Nvdia settings at startup and 2) psensor at startup but this does not help. I am using an HP DV7 with 2GB Nvidia card. Not using any fancy graphics features. Recommendations? Thanks.

  • Once installed geos library (C++, and C), and then trying to install rgeos package (R), it reports geos-config missing!

    Knowing that the package rgeos, from the R language, requieres a prior installation of geos libraries, I installed, both, libgeos and libgeos-c1 (3.2.2), using the synaptic installer in my Ubuntu 12.04 (32 bit) machine. Then I tried to install rgeos directly from the R console, and it issued a message in the sense that geos-config was not found.   • How do .so files avoid problems associated with passing header-only templates like MS dll files have?

    Based on the discussion around this question. I'd like to know how .so files/the ELF format/the gcc toolchain avoid problems passing classes defined purely in header files (like the std library). According to Jan in that answer, the dynamic linker/loader only picks one version of such a class to load if its defined in two .so files. So if two .so files have two definitions, perhaps with different compiler options/etc, the dynamic linker can pick one to use. Is this correct? How does this work with inlining? For example, MSVC inlines templates aggressively. This makes the solution I describe above untenable for dlls. Does Gcc never inline header-only templates like the std library as MSVC does? If so wouldn't that make the functionality of ELF described above ineffective in these cases?
