  • Ubuntu 10.04 live cd keyboard problem.

    Today I downloaded the Ubuntu 10.04 x64 .iso but when trying it out in live cd the keyboard of both my laptop and a microsoft branded one didn't work. I was planning into installing Ubuntu in a partition but I couldn't even put my info in the installation process to do it. Is this a problem with the .iso or the driver? because I'm afraid that if I can actually go ahead with the installation then the keyboard won't work after that too.

    I want to reduce the overhead caused by HTTP headers to a minimum, so I'd like to avoid the "Expires" header, and use "Cache-Control" only - or maybe the other way around (I'm planning to send very short HTTP responses to browsers, so the answer to this question doesn't fully apply here: My headers account for a significant percentage). AFAIK, the "Cache-Control" header was standardized in HTTP 1.1, but are there still web caches/proxies, that don't understand it? Note: This is a sub-question to my stackoverflow (bounty) question

I want to back-up my thunderbird, which folder should I back-up and where to place it in linux? Another thing is that I want to use Evolution mail, loving the progress they've done so far, is it possible to import from thunderbird to evo?

Everything is doing great but there is a problem with email web clients the most popular ones(gmail, yahoo, hotmail) are not optimized for screen readers. Is there some kind of simple email client optimized for this? Need to be very simple and straight foward and support multiple users too.

    I have a website hosted in a public server (withoud any streaming content) ,using public hosting instead of private because its cheaper. But in public hosting their are limitations when compared to private hosting such as monthly bandwidth usage (1 GB), disk space, cpu usage etc. I am planning to embedd videos and audios (from other websites like youtube) to my already existing website. My question is if a client streams a embedded video/audio (hosted in another website) from my website any change in bandwidth occurs.

    I bought a Dell Inspiron N 5050 last week, and recently discovered a problem with my laptop. It doesn't Power On until and unless I Plug-in the charger. After I plug-in the charger, it boots up fine, and continues to work well after disconnecting the charger. I don't know what the problem is exactly?     Hi, I'm looking for a command line tool for windows that will go over a directory tree (recursively) and output a list of all the files in there, and a checksum for each file (can be CRC, MD5, whatever). Esentially, what I want is to compare 2 big directory trees in 2 machines. I'm planning to take the outputs of running this tool in both, and diffing them to make sure they're identical. I appreciate any ideas.

E.g., if I pay $10k for one payment I will save $4000 in interest over the life of the loan, etc. Is there a way to calculate this?

    Possible Duplicate: How do you do Load Testing and Capacity Planning for Web Sites I've seen tutorials saying they can run decent websites on 64MB RAM (Debian/Lighttpd/PHP/MySQL) however it's not clearly defined how much hits/traffic a "decent" site gets. Is there a rule of thumb on how much RAM a web server needs? To keep things simple, let's say you're running a site with static content and it's averaging at 100,000 hits per hour (HTML + images combined, no MySQL). How much RAM is the minimum requirement for that?
