  • Updating Network Solutions Virtual Private Server

    Just got a VPS from Network Solutions, it's got Red Hat 4, PHP 5.16, Java 1.4, no Yum and a whole bunch of packages I'd expect to have from a fresh install. Anyway, obviously I sound like a spoiled Ubunutoligist, but do I seriously have to manually update all this stuff, is there a shortcut, I'm used to Fedora, so I'm not sure what the differences are between using Yum in Redhat and Fedora. Should I just demand that Network Solutions give me a server that's not 4 years old or is there a way to update this thing that won't take all week?

    All the LCD's in our house have DVI and VGA inputs. None support S-Video or any analog formats. Our game systems (nes, snes, n64, ps, ps2, gamecube, etc..) and DVD and VHS players only have composite (the yellow/red/white cords..?) or S-Video (that PS2-input like cable..?). How can I convert the signal these analog systems output to work on VGA or DVI?

  • Graphical corruption during Linux startup and shutdown - should I be worried?

    For the last month, when starting up or shutting down my laptop under Linux, I would get graphical corruption. Startup has an colour inverted, grainy rendition of what should be displayed while shutdown has a red background with all the text replaced by grey rectangles. At the very least this affects Fedora, Ubuntu and Xubuntu. Windows is not affected. Outside of startup/shutdown the system is fine. Should I be worrying about this?

I hava a cell A1 that has date and time and I want to conditionally format its adjecent cell if the value of cell A1 is greater than 3 days compared to today, then cell A2 should show as "Follow-up Required" and cell colour should turn red no. if cell value of A1 is less than 3 days compared to today, no action is required.     I have windows 7 and my disc drive has a capacity of 120 GB. From one day to another it tells me that my disc C is full in a red bar but I dont have many programs installed. I deleted all of my videos, games, music, pictures, etc and I was able to free up 30 GB. I ran the disk cleaner and emptied the TEMP folder and garbage can but it still shows a 70GB used. Can I get some help from the experts PLEASE!!!

  • Change dead disk in DPM 2010

    I was backuping data on an 1Gb hard drive with DPM 2010. This disk died but I replace it with another 1Gb hard drive. But I don't find how to recreate data structure on this new drive from previous protection group. Protection group were red. I delete the disk in "administration disks", now protection group are green but they don't save data and I don't see any menu to change the disk destination. how to do ? thanks

  • Color Schemes don't look right in CLI vim

    I was having a bit of trouble reading the dark red strings of Vim's default color scheme, so I decided to switch to a different one. http://code.google.com/p/vimcolorsch...kboard.vim?r=2 http://files.werx.dk/wombat.vim However, when I set my color schemes to these, not only do they not come out correctly (for example, comments are bright blue), but these 2 somehow come out looking exactly the same! Am I doing something wrong, or are these colors restricted in the terminal so default colors are being chosen?

  • How do I revoke access to java applet on OSX when there's an error in the control panel.

    I can't access the screenr.com java applet on my mac. Poking around the java preferences, I saw an odd entry with a red circle (I assume that means to deny access?) for it in the security section.     O.K I am trying to do the following very simple command and it is failing as follows... mv '/home/admin/Downloads/folder1' '/home/admin/MyLibrary/MyVideos/TV/folder1/' mv: cannot move `/home/admin/Downloads/folder1' to a subdirectory of itself, `/home/admin/MyLibrary/MyVideos/TV/folder1/' The destination is NOT a subfolder of the source - why is it giving me this error?? Requirements: accessible to normal users accessible to root always loaded, not only for bash (gnome-terminal does not start a bash by default) to work on Ubuntu, Debian and optionally Red Hat great if addition could be easily scripted So far here is the no-list: /etc/profile.d/java.sh - not executed if you start a new console from gnome-terminal /etc/profile - same as above ~/.profile - current user only, also any solution assuming ~ would not be acceptable because home directory could be on NIS, and JAVA_HOME could be different.

Now my organization has implemented a proxy server, this is not allowing me to connect to the VPS server.
