  I attempted to create an new user account that I wish to use to log in using ssh. Also, with the new API and an FBML app. How does this exactly work? The documentation is really poor so I am confused when looking at the old wiki, and the new developer site. Apologies for being pretty vague, but I'm just generally confused with the lack of clear direction with the new API and help would be greatly appreciated. I'm simply just trying to create a call that prompts for the new style user permission dialog, and oncomplete calls another JS function.

• How get Android 2.1 SDK to recognize new class: SignalStrength

  The new Android 2.1 SDK (version 7) has a new class called SignalStrength: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/telephony/SignalStrength.html I updated my SDK in Eclipse to include the 2.1 add-on, and now I am trying to use this new class. However, when I go to do an import android.telephony.SignalStrength, it can't find it. Do I have to somehow reset my project to refresh the SDK so it knows about the new libraries? How can I get it to recognize this new class? Thanks.

  In another question, a user pointed out that the new keyword was dangerous to use and proposed a solution to object creation that did not use new... I didn't believe that was true, mostly because I've used Prototype, Scriptaculous and other excellent JavaScript libraries, and everyone of them used the new keyword... In spite of that, yesterday I was watching Douglas Crockford's talk at YUI theater and he said the exactly same thing, that he didn't use the new keyword anymore in his code. Is it 'bad' to use the new keyword? what are the advantages and disadvantages of using it?

• Creating New Objects in JavaScript

  I'm a relatively newbie to object oriented programming in JavaScript, and I'm unsure of the "best" way to define and use objects in JavaScript. I've seen the "canonical" way to define objects and instantiate a new instance, as shown below. function myObjectType(property1, propterty2) { this.property1 = property1, this.property2 = property2 } // now create a new instance var myNewvariable = new myObjectType('value for property1', 'value for property2'); But I've seen other ways to create new instances of objects in this manner: var anotherVariable = new someObjectType({ property1: "Some value for this named property", property2: "This is the value for property 2" }); I like how that second way appears - the code is self documenting. But my questions are: Which way is "better"? Can I use that second way to instantiate a variable of an object type that has been defined using the "classical"way of defining the object type with that implicit constructor? • CoreData could not fulfill a fault when adding new attribute

  I am receiving a "CoreData could not fulfill a fault for ..." error message when trying to access a new attribute in a new data model. If I work with new data I'm ok, but when I attempt to read existing data I get the error. Do I need to handle the entity differently myself if the attribute isn't in my original data? I was under the impression that Core Data could handle this for me. My new attribute is marked as optional with a default value. Does it allocate exact 10 bytes on heap, Where information about size is stored.When i call delete on same pointer,i see in debugger that there are a lot of byte get changed before and after the 10 Bytes. • Which to use - "operator new" or "operator new[]" - to allocate a block of raw memory in C++?

  My C++ program needs a block of uninitialized memory. In C I would use malloc() and later free(). In C++ I can either call ::operator new or ::operator new[] and ::operator delete or operator delete[] respectively later. Looks like both ::operator new and ::operator new[] have exactly the same signature and exactly the same behavior. The same for ::operator delete and ::operator delete[]. The only thing I shouldn't do is pairing operator new with operator delete[] and vice versa - undefined behavior. Other than that which pair do I choose and why?

• Check for new mails in Hotmail using OpenPop.NET

  I was advised to use OpenPop lib to fetch my mail from hotmail. But I could'nt find any better way to check for new mail except disconnecting and reconnecting again. And there, I found a problem, Hotmail doesn't allow more than 1 pop3 login each 15 minutes. I want to know if it's possible to get the new mail without disconnecting and reconnecting to their pop3 server. • FTP corrupting subsequent aiff files from old mac to new mac

  This is a bizarre one. So I am trying to xfer files from an old mac to a new mac, but the old one has no USB, no firewire, just ethernet. So I hooked it up the the network, downloaded fetch and started a FTP server. The first file transfers fine, but all the subsequent ones are corrupted. I can reconnect and transfer a new file and it works, but every file afterwards is corrupted, somehow. I tried forcing binary transfer, but that didn't help. Any ideas? From System 8.6 Osx 10.7.5

• Indirect Postfix bounces create new user directories

  I'm running Postfix on my personal server in a data centre. I am not a professional mail hoster and not a Postfix expert, it is just used for a few domains served from that server. IIRC, I mostly followed this howto when setting up Postfix. Mails addressed to one of the domains the server manages are delivered locally (/srv/mail) to be fetched with Dovecot. Mails to other domains require usage of SMTPS. The mailbox configuration is stored in MySQL. The problem I have is that I suddenly found new mailboxes being created on the disk. Let's say I have the domain 'example.com'. Then I would have lots of new directories, e.g. /srv/mail/example.com/abenaackart /srv/mail/example.com/abenaacton etc. There are no entries for these addresses in my database, neither as a mailbox nor as an alias. It's clearly spam from auto-generated names. Most of them start with 'a', a few with 'b' and a couple of random ones with other letters. At first I was afraid of an attack, but all security restrictions seem to work. If I try to send mail to these addresses, I get an "Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table" during the 'RCPT TO' stage. So I looked into the mails stored in these mailboxes. Turns out that all of them are bounces. It seems like all of them were sent from a randomly generated name to an alias that really exists on my system, but pointed to an invalid destination address on another host. So Postfix accepted it, then tried to redirect it to another mail server, which rejected it. This bounced back to my Postfix server, which now took the bounce and stored it locally -- because it seemed to be originating from one of the addresses it manages. Example: My Postfix server handles the example.com domain. [email protected] is configured to redirect to [email protected]. [email protected] has since been deleted from the Hotmail servers. Spammer sends mail with FROM:[email protected] and TO:[email protected]. My Postfix server accepts the mail and tries to hand it off to hotmail.com. hotmail.com sends a bounce back. My Postfix server accepts the bounce and delivers it to /srv/mail/example.com/bob. The last step is what I don't want. I'm not quite sure what it should do instead, but creating hundreds of new mailboxes on my disk is not what I want... Any ideas how to get rid of this behaviour? I'll happily post parts of my configuration, but I'm not really sure where to start debugging the problem at this point.

• DNS - Redirect from old server to new.

  I have a server, (Server A) Windows Server 2003 that I was hosting some sites on. Now they are hosted on a different server (Server B). I recently switched the DNS at godaddy to point to the new nameservers. Is there something I can do on Server A to point all requests to Server A to Server B (basically a redirect from Server A to B)? What type of record would that be? This is while I'm waiting for the DNS changes I made to fully resolve. edit To further clarify. test.com may still be resolving to Server A, I'd like a DNS record on Server A that tells it to go to the new server. Is that possible?

• Removing bing from my google search bar when I open a new tab

  Bing has rudely planted its self on my "open new tab" so above bing my regular google is there but below is the irritating bing search bar! I have tried everything I know of to get rid of it and it will not go! I can not find it listed under my settings, control panel and/or uninstall!   I have just installed SmartSVN on this fedora system. The application starts (on running ./smartsvn.sh) with its usual UI but many things are not working. Some Observations When I run the smartsvn.sh file like this:- ./smartsvn.sh It shows this in the console - Warning: /bin/java does not exist Could not lock /root/.smartsvn/_lock_ Switched to running instance I was using SmartSVN in another system before this where it was working. There too, it was showing the warning like Warning: /bin/java does not exist but this part was not showing:- Could not lock /root/.smartsvn/_lock_ Switched to running instance I have only JRE installed in both the systems and not JDK.   I have just got a new machine to run XEN VM's on, it has an Intel i7 processor: - Intel Haswell Core i7-4790 3.6GHz 8MB LGA1150 I have setup the host with the current 6.2.0 I have set up a new Debian 7 64bit VM and any package I try and run fails with the following errors: Errors were encountered while processing: xen-utils-common xen-utils-4.1 xen-system-amd64 xen-linux-system-3.2.0-4-amd64 xen-linux-system-amd64 E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) Excuse my noob-ness but should it even be running an AMD package ? • New Xming Windows Doesn't Grab Focus

  I do my day-to-day work on Windows 7 (no, that's not going to change) and often need to work with Linux running on Parallels. Switching between Windows and Linux desktops is a pain, so I've installed Cygwin+Xming (less complicated than CygwinX). I open a Cygwin command line using mintty, then do ssh -Y to get a Linux command line. Doing "vim" on the Linux command line causes the vim window to appear on my Windows desktop. This is great, except that the new vim window doesn't automatically grab the focus, which stays with the mintty window. Years of habit cause me to start typing immediately without clicking on the new window. Having to switch manually is very jarring. Any way to make it automatic?

• MySQL dump, output each table row on a new line whilst using --extended-insert

  I'm having an issue, where for ease of use, I'd like to be able to format a command line MySQL dump so that each row of a given table is on a new line when using the --extended-insert option. Usually when using --extended-insert, every row of a given table is outputted on one line, and as far as I am aware there's no way to change this, other than post-processing the dump with perl or such like. The format I'm looking for is: -- -- Dumping data for table `ww_tbCountry` -- INSERT INTO `ww_tbCountry` (`iCountryId_PK`, `vCountryName`, `vShortName`, `iSortFlag`, `fTax`, `vCountryCode`, `vSageTaxCode`) VALUES (22, 'Albania', 'AL', 1, 0.00, '8', 'T9'), (33, 'Austria', 'AT', 1, 15.00, '40', 'T9'), (40, 'Belarus', 'BY', 1, 0.00, '112', 'T9'), (41, 'Belgium', 'BE', 1, 15.00, '56', 'T9'), (51, 'Bulgaria', 'BG', 1, 15.00, '100', 'T9' However, when I dump a database using Phpmyadmin, using --extended-insert, each row is dumped on a new line (as shown by the example above). • RDP and New Accounts

  I created a new user account on the domain and added them to the Remote Desktop Users group. I could login just fine locally, but when I logged in remotely I was basically told that I could not login from there using that user. I could login just fine as the administrator or anybody else other than that new account. So I researched it a bit more and found that my setting looked like this on the local machine: So I changed it to Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (NLA). Now when I tried this down at my office I connected with RDP just fine on another computer. But low and behold when I got home and simply try to connect to the machine, I get the message: There has to be some kind of in between setting, or additional setting that I need to change on the user that allows me to connect directly via remote desktop over the VPN. At the moment I can connect by connecting to another computer on the network and then RDPing from there into my machine, but this is not ideal.
