  • Default document not working after installing SP1 on Windows 2008 R2 x64

    We have a web site that should only be available for authorized users. So we deny anonymous access for the site. However we do allow anonymous access to the default page and the login page. When we installed SP1 the behavior of the server changed. Now if the user is trying to access the root of the site, say http://mysite.com, she is redirected to login page rather than the default page. Is there a hotfix to bring back the previous behavior?

    hi i have to extract the cabfile(.cab) on the server. i am Finding such script which extract cab file but i didn't get it yet. So now i am try to extract using cabarc.exe.   • VMware Fusion on MacBook Pro running Vista, not working after installing a wireless card

    A tech friend installed VMware on my Mac so I could use my Windows programs as well. It worked great until I inserted my Sierra 881 USB wireless card while in VMware trying to get to the internet while on the road. It worked briefly, then the AT&T Communication manager won't respond when you click on the icon, I can't open Network and Sharing center, I can't sync my palm - shows it can't connect. Looks like it messed up several things, along with not being able to connect to the internet while in windows. This wireless cards works directly from the Mac - but I need internet while in Windows for some work I am doing. How do I uninstall this - when I try - it just gives me an endless reloading circle - not doing anything. I really need to sync my palm and get back to the way it was. I don't know much about VMware at all and I don't have access to my friend right now to get help.

  • Spacebar on Samsung Series 7 Chronos Not Working

    The spacebar on my Series 7 Chronos does not register half the time. I'll be typing along and my words end up lookinglikethis. After further investigation, I noticed the spacebar does not response when pressed at the edges. Basically, the areas under the "C" key and the "M" key do not respond to a press It's weird, the bar physically "clicks" down (like it should), but does not register. No matter how hard I press, It won't register in that area. I noticed some complaints online about a 'sticky' or 'loose' spacebar, but they didn't mention it not registering. We took it back to the store we bought it at and they noticed the same problem on the floor model. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • DVD/CD-ROM drives stop working in Windows 7

    All of a sudden Windows 7 (64 bit) lost all DVD and CD-ROM drives. It worked fine for about a month, then I don't know what happened. At first I thought it was a hardware problem - that my DVD-ROM had malfunctioned. But then I realized that Windows 7 no longer picked up on Demon Tools drives either. I can boot both Windows installation and Knoppix from the DVD-drive. So it seems to be a general problem with "disc-media". When trying to reinstall the hardware DVD-ROM Windows recognizes the drive (though sometimes simply label it as "CD-ROM drive"), but then says something went wrong - with from what I understand is a default error message (39), claiming the driver has become corrupt. I've tried every Microsoft recommended action, i.e. uninstall, reinstall, look for driver updates etc. etc., but with no luck. Any tip most welcome!

  • One subdomain is not working

    Hello there, My main domain works just fine - www.example.com and a subdomain set up by another developer works as well - sub1.example.com. But when I try to set another subdomain up I go through the process everything seems to work. The software creates the default files where the subdomain files should go. But when I try to browse there it doesn't work. My host uses Plesk to do all of the hosting stuff. What do you think the problem is? I doubt it is some sort of cache issue because I had problems on my phone which I tried after problems on the pc. Maybe for some reason Plesk needs time to set this up? I have used Cpanel before and that works instantly.

  • cannot get mssql working with sql server 2005

    I'm a MySQL/Apache user, trying my hand with IIS and SQL server, so please, if this is a stupid question have patience. I'm using IIS version 7.5. PHP version 5.3.13 and SQL server 2005 IIS is running on port 90, not sure if that will make a difference or not. I know my sql server is running because I can explore/connect to it in Server management studio. I know php is configured properly, because //localhost:90/phpinfo.php works fine. I updated the php_msql.dll extension in phpinfo to: extension=ext/php_msql.dll EDIT- However, when I run phpinfo() under the "configure command" row, this is present: --without-mssql I found/downloaded the ntwdblib.dll and placed it in both sys32 and php root. All these things were supposed to fix the issue, and they haven't. This is the code I'm using, straight from php.net: <?php // Server in the this format: <computer>\<instance name> or // <server>,<port> when using a non default port number $server = 'localhost'; // Connect to MSSQL $link = mssql_connect($server, 'uname', 'pwd'); if (!$link) { die('Something went wrong while connecting to MSSQL'); } ?> obviously I'm using a real username and password, but when I load the file in my browser, I receive a 500 error.   • Why isn't passwordless ssh working?

    I have two Ubuntu Server machines sitting at home. One is 192.168.1.15 (we'll call this 15), and the other is 192.168.1.25 (we'll call this 25). For some reason, when I want to setup passwordless login from 15 to 25, it works like a champ. When I repeat the steps on 25, so that 25 can login without a password on 15, no dice. I have checked both sshd_config files. Do I need to reboot or do someone to make the changes permanent? Last time I rebooted the rules disappeared from iptables :/

  • Upstart multiple instances of service not working.

    I started playing with MongoDB on Lucid. Now I would like to run a DB and Config server on the same box. They both use the same binary to launch, but with different config files and running on different ports. All directories for log and lib is split so one goes to mongodb and the other to mongoconf. Each process can be started without any problems on their own. start mongodb stop mongodb start mongoconf stop mongoconf But if I try to start both, the second one would just start and exit. Using 'initctl log-priority debug' I got the following in the logs. Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: event_finished: Finished started event Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: job_process_handler: Ignored event 1 (1) for process 5690 Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: mongoconf (mongoconf) main process (5690) terminated with status 1 Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: mongoconf (mongoconf) goal changed from start to stop Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: mongoconf (mongoconf) state changed from running to stopping man 5 init shows that you can use instance names to differentiate the two. I tried using 'instance mongoconf' in the on upstart script and 'instance mongodb' in the other one, and it still fails. I can manually start the other process, so there is definitely no conflicts on port numbers or directories. Any ideas on what to try or how to get output on why it is 'terminated with status 1'?   • Starting Apache through XAMPP is not working

    I've checked the error logs for this particular problem and it seems no access can be made to port 80. (OS 10013)An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. : make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 Turning the Windows firewall off didn't work, so I'm a bit lost. All of this is running on my laptop so I don't have my own "server" per se but I was under the impression that this would work without the need for one independent of my own personal computer. How would I solve this?

  • Windows 8 Communication Sound Setting not working

    I've been having a problem on my new laptop recently which is familiar but baffling the usual fixes. I'm running Windows 8 with an onboard Realtek soundcard. It's similar to the one on my older computer running Windows 7. The problem is, when I'm in Skype or Mumble, Windows changes the sound output to lower everything else automatically. I've disabled the communications sound change option on the communications tab within sound devices and checked all the applications settings to insure that they are not responsible. They aren't, and I noticed something else. When I'm in the sound properties dialog, and I switch to the microphone tab, the same audio output reduction occurs. This seems to say to me that the microphone must be responsible in some way, but seeing as I uninstalled all the drivers and installed windows drivers instead, I'm confused as to why this would be occurring. Any thoughts? EDIT: I just tried disabling the built in microphone and the sound no longer get changed. More confused now? As soon as I turn it back on, the sound gets dropped again. Incidentally, the fix for this on windows 7 was this question: Windows 7 lowers applications' volume automatically I've got my computer set that way and it doesn't work.

  • Is Private Bytes >> Working Set?

    OK, this may sound weird, but here goes. There are 2 computers, A (Pentium D) and B (Quad Core) with almost the same amount of RAM running Windows XP. If I run the same code on both computers, the allocated private bytes in A never goes down resulting in a crash later on. In B it looks like the private bytes is constantly deallocated and everything looks fine. In both computers, the working set is deallocated and allocated similarly. Could this be an issue with manifests or DLLs (system)? I'm clueless. Note: I observed the utilized memory with Process Explorer. Question: During execution (where we have several allocations and deallocations) is it normal for the number of private bytes to be much bigger (1.5 GB vs 70 MB) than the working set?

  • Gzip not working in browser

    According to whatsmyip.org none of my browsers (Firefox, Chrome etc) on W7 are gzip enabled, it's saying 'NO, your browser is not requesting compressed content' which agrees with Chrome developer tools as I was testing a site and it was complaining that the page and css etc weren't compressed. I've searched for an answer but cannot find anything for this. I've tested from another pc connected to the router and that works fine, something on this pc is broke.... Any help tia

  • Plesk command working in manual script, not in cronjob

    Hi, In order to install a hosting plan, I use Plesk's commands in SSH as specified in their official guide. When typed directly in SSH (Putty), it works perfectly. The line is as follows with obviously values hard coded when in CLI: /usr/local/psa/bin/domain --create '.$url.' -owner mynamehere -ip '.IP_SERVER_PLESK.' -status enabled -hosting true -hst_type phys -login '.$ftp_user.' -passwd '.$ftp_pw.' -www false -php true -php_safe_mode false -hard_quota 100M I then put that request in a php script that does other things after hosting is installed. Now for the weird part: when calling that script from CLI it also works fine, I do a ./myscript.php and it installs the hosting, then sends emails etc. However after I create a cronjob to have that same script called regularly, then the Plesk command fails. The cronjob is started in Plesk as */15 * * * * /usr/bin/php /home/scripts/myscript.php and it works fine for everything BUT the Plesk hosting install, that returns "Unable to read Control Panel configuration file" and therefore does not install the domain hosting. Still this is the same script that I call manually ! On that server are the PHP used to call a cronjob and the one used in CLI different ? What do I miss, help greatly appreciated ! Regards.

  • Windows 7 Desktop background picture in Group Policy displaying black - XP working correctly

    We want everyone on the Windows Domain to have the same desktop background. This is set up in a Group Policy. This works great in Windows XP but the Windows 7 machines display a black background. I have re-created the Group Policy, done various tests with different types and sizes of files Enabling and Disabling Active Desktop. I have researched and tried some options and patches from Microsoft as well. Any idea what I can try or even how to determine the problem?

Now if I want to filter those conditions on this list and get the resultant value(without NULL or String.Empty or " " records) what should I do?   • Working with an external button box

    I tried this question on Stack Overflow, but I was pointed here, so here goes: For a new project for myself, I am looking for a way to be able to (for example) open a pop-up window on my laptop, by pressing a button on an external device (to be build by myself, or at least bought) connected with USB. Basically I would be looking at something like a Arduino or Raspberry (IF I am looking in the right direction) with buttons on it, and as soon as I hit a button on the external box with physical buttons, a command activates on my laptop and for example opens a popup window in which I can input tekst. Does anyone know: 1) if it is possible to do this at all. 2) What equipment is needed for the external box, what programming is needed. I preffer .net (dot net) but maybe it can only be done with software from the external box. If anyone can point me in the right direction, like make/model of the external box or websites I would be very happy. I have knowledge of Visual Studio/.net but I am willing to learn other languages if .net is not an option for this project. Thanks in advance Scott PS: If anyone knows of some better tags, or at least knows what I mean and needs me to edit the question, please do tell me... I am new on Stack Overflow/Superuser.

  • Git svn - no changes, no branches (except master), rebase/info is not working

    I know that similar questions were asked before, but I think my is a little bit different, so please don't point me to existing threads. I'm migrating our old svn repo to git. I did git svn clone path --authors-file abc.txt and everything seemend legit to me. Then I did git remote add origin xyz and git push --all origin and it also worked. I created this repo as test one, with only me having access to both local repo and origin. No changes were made in project held on this repo, nothing to commit, no pushing and so on. There is also only one branch, because someone initialized svn years ago without creating proper folder structure (branches, trunk, tags). Meanwhile someone pushed their work to svn, so I tried to git svn fetch (which worked), and git svn rebase which didn't, giving me error: Unable to determine upstream SVN information from working tree history Is there any reason why git svn decided to stop working?

  • Cisco 5505 VPN RDP not working

    I am in dire straights over here. We just changed our LAN from a 192.168.1.0 to a 172.16.4.0. We run Active Directory in our environment and our gateway is a Cisco 5505 ASA. Since the change, our clients can VPN in and make a connection but cannot RDP to any machines that they need to get to on the LAN that they VPN into. I updated the VPN address pool and DNS servers but I'm not sure what else I need to configure. I can send anything you need as I am not an expert and I really, really appreciate the help!
