    The Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.SqlDataType enum has a value for the timestamp type but not rowversion. I'm looking for an updated version of the assembly or an alternate enum type that supports it. The existing enum has a value for Timestamp, but according to the rowversion documentation, timestamp is "deprecated and will be removed in a future version". I prefer to avoid using deprecated things :)

  • Using NSPredicate to filter on both Core attribute and entity

    I have two entities in core data (call them entityOne and entityTwo). I have a entityOne<---entityTwo relationship between them. I am now trying to code an NSPredicate to fetch entityTwo objects on the following basis: Fetch entityTwo objects that have a relationship with a specified entityOne object. Filter out those entityTwo objects which have no value for one of their attributes. I am best doing both of these in an NSPredicate or is there a better way? I am trying the following: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"(attribute <> "") AND (relationship == entityOne"]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; Any pointers on coding great fully received.

  • Halting Django's dev server via page request?

    I'm looking at writing a portable, light-weight Python app. As the "GUI toolkit" I'm most familiar with — by a wide margin! — is HTML/CSS/JS, I thought to use Django as a framework for the project, using its built-in "development server" (manage.py runserver). I've been banging on a proof-of-concept for a couple hours and the only real problem I've encountered so far is shutting down the server once the user has finished using the app. Ideally, I'd like there to be a link on the app's pages which shuts down the server and closes the page, but nothing I see in the Django docs suggests this is possible. Can this be done? For that matter, is this a reasonable approach for writing a small, portable GUI tool?

  • Sending a 'copy' command in cocoa

    Is there any way to send a copy (command-c) instruction without using a cgEvent to mimic the keystrokes? I don't have access to the text field in the application I want to take text from, so need to replicate manually copying to the clipboard, and there seemss to be a bug with cgevent posting. According the Quartz documentation, to type a capital Z I should use: CGEventRef event1, event2, event3, event4; event1 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)56, true); event2 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)6, true); event3 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)6, false); event4 = CGEventCreateKeyboardEvent (NULL, (CGKeyCode)56, false); However, if I attach this set of instuctions to an NSTimer, it only works the first time it is fired. example output: ZzzZzzzzZZzzZ (vs expected ZZZZZZZZZ). How else might I send a copy command to the active window?

  • aacplus frame alignment problems

    I have an application that rips aac+ audio streams, cutting them at every regular interval (i.e. 10 minutes). Sometimes files are playable OK, but sometimes, Windows Media Player just closes when trying to build DirectShow graph. I am using Orban aacplus plugin, and it works under directshow. When I play this file with winamp or vlc, that have it's own aacplus decoding engine, it works fine. However, I need it to work under directshow. Anyway, problematic file is here: http://www.videophill.com/files/00272-20100418100002.aac I know that there is frame alignment error and I confirmed my theory by filling first 256 bytes with 0x00, tried to play it again, and it worked. Is there any info on aacplus frames available on the web, so I can try to find the beginning of the frame manually and cut the rest off?

  • C# / Entity Framework / Linq question regarding calling a method when a class is accessed...

    So this is probably really basic, but I'm fairly new to all this. I am using Entity Framework with POCO entities. I want to call a method when a class property is set. I am trying to build an advertisement platform. I have a Customer class, a Venue class and an Advertisement class. I have my indexes set up in such a way that I can call customer.venue. However, I want to be able to call Customer.Venue.CurrentAdvertisement and have it execute a method (if CurrentAdvertisement is null) and return the current advertisement. I know I can explicitly set it every time, but I want to be able to override my classes so that whenever the CurrentAdvertisement property is accessed via LINQ it runs that method to return an ad. In order to do this I need to pass the Venue class a variable (venue name).

  • Mdi Children Changed in .Net

    Hi Is there a simple way of tracking the change of an Mdi's children i.e. when they are created and closed, something like an event OnMdiChildListChanged (I realise this doesn't actually exist). I am also aware that I could have a method within my Mdi that handles the creation of child forms and logs the state of them or even create an Interface that defines that a child form has a "NotifyParent" method that is then called on close of the form, but i was wondering if there was any built in events that i could plumb into?   • How do I design a web service (microsoft) that can be consumed by multiple end points?

    My company is planning to implement a solution in multiple applications that will help to validate mailing addresses at the point of data entry. We're using UPS's Extended Address Validation (XAV) web service API to validate the addresses. Our current plan is to build a .NET web service that can be used to communicate between our applications and the UPS API. We have applications in VB6, classic ASP, and .NET 2.0, so we'd like to implement a solution that can be easily consumed by each of these programming environments. What are our (Microsoft) options for designing a web service that can be consumed by multiple clients? In particular, is there a way to design a single web service that can respond with JSON (in case we want to validate our web page using javascript) in addition to XML? I'm new to designing web services and want to make sure we consider all of our options. I've heard terms like asmx, WCF, OData, etc., but I don't know which frameworks will support what we're trying to do and where to start.

  • Getting a UIImage from MySQL using PHP and jSON

    I'm developing a little news reader that retrieves the info from a website by doing a POST request to a URL. The response is a jSON object with the unread-news. E.g. the last news on the App has a timeStamp of "2013-03-01". When the user refreshes the table, it POSTS "domain.com/api/api.php?newer-than=2013-03-01". The api.php script goes to the MySQL database and fetches all the news posted after 2013-03-01 and prints them json_encoded. This is // do something to get the data in an array echo $array_of_fetched_data; for example the response would be [{"title": "new app is coming to the market", "text": "lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...", image: XXX}] the App then gets the response and parses it, obtaining an NSDictionary and adds it to a Core Data db. NSDictionary* obtainedNews = [NSJSONSerialization JSONObjectWithData:responseData options:kNilOptions error:&error]; My question is: How can I add an image to the MySQL database, store it, pass it using jSON trough a POST HTTP Request and then interpret it as an UIImage. It's clear that to store an UIImage in CoreData, they must be transform into/from NSData. How can I pass the NSData back and forth to a MySQL db using php and jSON? How should I upload the image to the db? (Serialized, as a BLOB, etc)

  • Returning new base class when the parent class shared pointer is the return type

    Can you have a parent class shared pointer return type of a function and then return a new child class without it being a shared pointer? I'm not sure how shared pointers work in these situations, do they act like a regular pointer? Here is my example: BaseEventPtr Actions::getEvent(const std::string& nodeName) { if(asLowerCaseString(nodeName) == "action") return new ActionEvent(&m_interface); return nullptr; } ActionEvent is the subclass of BaseEvent in this situation.   • On XP, how do I get the tooltip to appear above a transclucent form?

    I have an form with an Opacity less then 1.0. I have a tooltip associated with a label on the form. When I hover the mouse over the label, the tooltip shows up under the form instead of over the form. If I leave the Opacity at its default value of 1.0, the tooltip correctly appears over the form. However, my form is obviously no longer translucent. ;-) I have tried manually adjusting the position of the ToolTip with SetWindowPos() and creating a ToolTip "by hand" using CreateWindowEx(), but the problem remains. This makes me suspect its a Win32 API problem, not a problem with the Windows Forms implementation that runs on top of Win32. Why does the tooltip appear under the form, and, more importantly, how can I get it to appear over the form where it should? Edit: this appears to be an XP-only problem. Vista and Windows 7 work correctly. I'd still like to find a workaround to get the tooltip to appear above the form on XP.   • jQuery code works in Firebug, but not on its own

    I'm having quite the brainbuster of an issue right now. I am trying to change a link's hash tag at the end from "respond" to "comments" with jQuery. I have a simple script that should do this, however it does not work. The link does not change. However, Firebug shows no errors and when I run the code in Firebug's console, it works just as I intend. Why doesn't this work on its own? Does anybody have a solution, I'm at my wits edge with this one.   • How to change the coordinate of a point that is inside a GraphicsPath?

    Is there anyway to change the coordinates of some of the points within a GraphicsPath object while leaving the other points where they are? The GraphicsPath object that gets passed into my method will contain a mixture of polygons and lines. My method would want to look something like: void UpdateGraphicsPath(GraphicsPath gPath, RectangleF regionToBeChanged, PointF delta) { // Find the points in gPath that are inside regionToBeChanged // and move them by delta. // gPath.PathPoints[i].X += delta.X; // Compiles but doesn't work } GraphicsPath.PathPoints seems to be readonly, so does GraphicsPath.PathData.Points. So I am wondering if this is even possible. Perhaps generating a new GraphicsPath object with an updated set of points? How can I know if a point is part of a line or a polygon? If anyone has any suggestions then I would be grateful.

  • Missing tables on Scaffold Dynamic Data page

    I created a Linq-to-SQL DBML for the first time. I dragged and dropped all my tables over to the designer. The tables all appear in the designer.cs file. In Global.asax, I also have model.RegisterContext() with the ScaffoldAllTables = true option. The routes are also setup. I can pull up the Scaffolding page, but there's at least one table that is missing that I'm trying to get to show up. This missing table has a relationship with a child table that references it. The child table appears. When viewing data for the child table, the column that references the missing/parent table shows the numeric PK int value, rather than showing the "name". So instead of showing "Cars" it shows 1, and instead of showing "Planes" it shows 2, etc. There's another table in the DB that has the same type of structure as the missing table, and it is correctly appearing in the scaffolded tables. For this missing table, I've tried explicitly adding the ScaffoldTable attribute to no avail. Does anyone know what would cause a table like this to not appear in the list Scaffolded tables?     Whenever I add paddingRight to a column in the flex grid, it adds the padding to the header as well. Is anyone familiar with how I can add paddingRight just to the column and not to the header?
