• Drupal: Content in blocks from node_reference fields?

  After only a few weeks of working with Drupal I've come up with a recurring problem, which I don't really have an optimal solution to, so I'm hoping that someone here might be able to give some best practice pointers. What I have is a region inside my node.tpl.php, which is populated with blocks that display content from two different CCK fields of the type node_reference. This works fine when displaying a single node. The problem appears when I need to use a view. For example, lets say I have a news listing, and a single news item view. When I display the single news item I can use the news node node_reference field to reference whatever material I would like to have in my sidebar, but when on the news listing view I would like to reference nodes separately. What would be the best practice to solve this? I'm having a few ideas, but none seem like the logical choice, how would you do?

• Storing links to internal content pages in ASP.NET MVC

  I'm using a route like this routes.MapRoute( "PageBySlug", RouteType.Regular, "{slug}", new {controller = "Page", action = "Display", slug = "Default"}, null ); to map request to ~/Some-Page-Slug to ~/Page/Display/Some-Page-Slug. When adding content, user can choose to link to existing pages to create references and I then store those links in this format in the datastore: "/Some-Page-Slug". When I run the app in Cassini and pull the link out from datastore and attach it to A tag it looks like this http://localhost:93229/Some-Page-Slug and this link works. But when running the application in virtual directory under some website in IIS, the attached link generates this URL http://localhost/Some-Page-Slug, when it should be http://localhost/virtualdir/Some-Page-Slug. Of course, this generates 404 error. How can I solve this to be universally useful and working under all circumstances? Should I store it differently in the database or should I transform it into correct form in my Views at runtime and how to do that?

Is there way to make the box extend up and down so that the dialog remains centered ? also if there was enough content then it could potentially go beyond the bounds of the page so I would think I could use a max height to prevent that but what do I do if they re-size the window ? thanks for any help

  I just did an audit of one of my web application page (built using ASP.Net and running on development server) using Google chrome's developer tool. One particular warning caught my eyes: Serve static content from a cookieless domain (5)! Here is my screen shot (http://yfrog.com/7eauditresultp) as well. I would like to know is it possible to avoid cookies for these kind of requests. I see that there is no cookie requests for javascript files as well. I it possible to avoid cookies in the header for these files as well? and why didn't the browser attach cookies for javascript files and attach for CSS and image? Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome

  Referring: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q218180/, there is a known issue in IIS4/5/6 whereby it will reveal the internal IP of a web server in the content-location field of the HTTP header. We have IIS 6. I have tried the fix suggested, but it has not worked. The website is configured to send all requests to ASP.NET, and I am wondering if this is why the fix, which addresses IIS configuration, has not worked for us. If this is the case, how would we fix this in ASP.NET? We need to fix this issue in order to pass a security audit.

• Storing uploaded content on a website

  For the past 5 years, my typical solution for storing uploaded files (images, videos, documents, etc) was to throw everything into an "upload" folder and give it a unique name. I'm looking to refine my methods for storing uploaded content and I'm just wondering what other methods are used / preferred. I've considered storing each item in their own folder (folder name is the Id in the db) so I can preserve the uploaded file name. I've also considered uploading all media to a locked folder, then using a file handler, which you pass the Id of the file you want to download in the querystring, it would then read the file and send the bytes to the user. This is handy for checking access, and restricting bandwidth for users.

The problem I have is the following: when I promote the content of a QScrollArea to my widget, the scroll features doesn't works; I haven't any scroll bar or I can't see any result when I use the method 'ensureVisible(..)'. • Save UITextView content in NSString.

  Hi, I'm trying to save the contents of an UITextView into a NSString which I will somehow persist later. The problem is that the UITextView "text" property doesn't save all the rows in the textView (after touching "return"). I tried print the TextView object and the textView.text, and they're different. Does anybody know how (after editing the textView) I can save its content into a String (or something else that I can later access and share through different views and persist in the database)? Thanks a lot. Pretty sure it is simple, but I'm honestly not finding the solution.

  Hi, Hope someone may be able to help. What i am looking to do is create a small winform app in c# to read the content of a email from a pop account, and upload key values to a sql automatically. The email format is always the same for each email, eg, First name : Last name : Phone number : etc... Currently the emails are being stored in a pop 3 account however i want a way to reduce having to key the information into the sql by hand. Can anyone advise how i would go about doing this or could recommend some guides? Thanks. Steve

Is there a way of fixing this, or a better way of doing it? Please bear in mind that I don't have much control over the HTML, since I need to do this in Django's admin interface, which doesn't allow much injection of HTML in the places you might want to to accomplish this sort of thing (i.e. this answer and this answer don't work for me).

  Hi guys, I have an internal app (Jira) that i want to use internally and externally, now there might be another way of doing this in which case i'm open to it, but this is what i have so far: URL one: https://domainname.com/jira - external domain name for it URL two: https://domainname.local/jira - internal network name for it. I am running Apache as a reverse proxy and I have this: <Location /jira> ProxyPass http://127.0.0.1:8080/jira ProxyPassReverse http://127.0.0.1:8080/jira </Location> Jira creates all of its links using a base url, which in this case is set to 'https://domainname.local/jira', so obviously when pages get served to the outside world they have .local on them. The question is, is there a way to have the content rewritten as it is served in order to change the .local addresses within the HTML to be the .com ones? Or am i being a retard and there is an easier way to solve this? Cheers for any help.... Andy

  Hi.. I just installed eclipse-cdt 3.2.2 on Linux (Mint). The content assist feature which pops up when you do a "." or "-" on a struct or struct pointer, is extremely slow and freezes the entire IDE for around 10-20 seconds. This I feel, is because it searches through the entire include directory /usr/include that comes by default for any C project that you create. How can this issue be solved? Thanks..

  Hi, I've created a view in Drupal that retrieves a list of nodes. The display of this view is a page and it works perfectly well. It does even allow me to filter its content by argument. See the current's view configuration (click to enlarge): I want to use AJAX to use the filter (by parameter) functionality without reloading the page. I've enabled the "Use AJAX" option but I am not sure on how to continue. Any ideas on how to do that? By the way, I'm building my own theme (in case that changes anything).   I am making an app in which I get text from my server and display it in UIWebview. After some time more text is added and client(iphone) is notified about the additional-text. Now I want to inject this text into my UIWebview. Anybody know how to do it? One method is to update some text file and reload the content. But I dont want to reload the page. Another way can be to use javascript to check updates in a local file (which seems better). Is there any known better solution?

• Styling a list as tabs with a background overflowing into content

  I couldn't think of any better way to name this question, but I'll explain. I have a mediawiki website with a background pattern (like parchment) behind the articles. At the top of each article I want to have tabs like wikipedia does (with page | talk | edit etc links). The problem is, the tabs should seamlessly fit with the article's background and I can't figure out if this is actually possible. The way I was trying to do it was positioning the list inside the actual content div and give the <li items a transparent background, but as far as I can see there's no way to color the rest of the <ul's background black without affecting the <li's in there.   Hi Everyone, I am looking into the best way of doing the following: I have a model called Kase, and when a user creates a new case then are taken to the show view as you would expect. I am trying to work out what the best way of sending an automated email between those two events is. I would need to include in the email the content of a couple of the fields, ideally I am looking for a way of just typing out the email and adding the same snippets that are in the show view for each of the fields I need. I am using the Base App from Github so the email sending is already setup for the user authentication and registration, but I'm not sure where to begin. The reason I want to send the email is to create a new Case in our Highrise account, and I don't have a clue how to use the API. So I think the email sending is the easier way. Thanks, Danny

• How to store static content across branches in a single location in version control

  [Just a random thought] I have a pdf doc that is downloaded when the user clicks on 'help' on my website. Now, this is a pretty huge document and is saved in version control (SVN) and is thus copied for all branches that exist in SVN. This is static content and something that developers are not working on, and does not change often. Is there a more efficient way to store it (that would not hamper local deployments) that would make SVN checkouts and updates relatively faster. I know the benefit we get is not huge, this is something that came to my head none the less.
