  I am trying to do a seemingly simple thing, but having trouble accomplishing it. I am trying to automate the posting on my Facebook wall. Basically I have a ASP.NET MVC website that I post updates on, and I want to automatically submit the post to my wall. I see a lot of stuff on FB Connect and getting data, I just want to post. Thanks for any help or guidance. UPDATE: Just trying to resurrect, and be a little more clear in my description as I am not getting anywhere. I have a page that I want with a text box and a button. When I submit the form I want the message to post to my Facebook wall. I thought it was Facebook Connect, but I am getting no where as to how to automatically authenticate myself and post to my wall. • Synchronizing ASP.NET MVC action methods with ReaderWriterLockSlim

  Any obvious issues/problems/gotchas with synchronizing access (in an ASP.NET MVC blogging engine) to a shared object model (NHibernate, but it could be anything) at the Controller/Action level via ReaderWriterLockSlim? (Assume the object model is very large and expensive to build per-request, so we need to share it among requests.) Here's how a typical "Read Post" action would look. ReaderWriterLockSlim is optimized for multiple concurrent reads, and only blocks if the write lock is held. Since writes are so infrequent (1000s or 10,000s or 100,000s of reads for every 1 write), and since they're of such a short duration, the effect is that the model is synchronized , and almost nobody ever locks, and if they do, it's not for very long.

• Using NHibernate to select entities based on activity of children entities

  I'm having a case of the Mondays... I need to select blog posts based on recent activity in the post's comments collection (a Post has a List<Comment> property and likewise, a Comment has a Post property, establishing the relationship. I don't want to show the same post twice, and I only need a subset of the entities, not all of the posts. First thought was to grab all posts that have comments, then order those based on the most recent comment. For this to work, I'm pretty sure I'd have to limit the comments for each Post to the first/newest Comment. Last I'd simply take the top 5 (or whatever max results number I want to pass into the method). Second thought would be to grab all of the comments, ordered by CreatedOn, and filter so there's only one Comment per Post. Then return those top (whatever) posts. This seems like the same as the first option, just going through the back door. I've got an ugly, two query option I've got working with some LINQ on the side for filtering, but I know there's a more elegant way to do it in using the NHibernate API. Hoping to see some good ideas here.

• Rails Polymorphic Association with multiple associations on the same model

  My question is essentially the same as this one: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1168047/polymorphic-association-with-multiple-associations-on-the-same-model However, the proposed/accepted solution does not work, as illustrated by a commenter later. I have a Photo class that is used all over my app. A post can have a single photo. However, I want to re-use the polymorphic relationship to add a secondary photo. Before: class Photo belongs_to :attachable, :polymorphic => true end class Post has_one :photo, :as => :attachable, :dependent => :destroy end Desired: class Photo belongs_to :attachable, :polymorphic => true end class Post has_one :photo, :as => :attachable, :dependent => :destroy has_one :secondary_photo, :as => :attachable, :dependent => :destroy end However, this fails as it cannot find the class "SecondaryPhoto". Based on what I could tell from that other thread, I'd want to do: has_one :secondary_photo, :as => :attachable, :class_name => "Photo", :dependent => :destroy Except calling Post#secondary_photo simply returns the same photo that is attached via the Photo association, e.g. Post#photo === Post#secondary_photo. Looking at the SQL, it does WHERE type = "Photo" instead of, say, "SecondaryPhoto" as I'd like... Thoughts? Thanks!

  Hi All, I have a maintenance plan that looks like this... Client 1 Import Data (Success) -> Process Data (Success) -> Post Process (Completion) -> Next Client Client 2 Import Data (Success) -> Process Data (Success) -> Post Process (Completion) -> Next Client Client N ... Import Data and Process Data are calling jobs and Post Process is an Execute Sql task. If Import Data or Process Data Fail, it goes to the next client Import Data... Both Import Data and Process Data are jobs that contain SSIS packages that are using the built-in SQL logging provider. My expectation with the configuration as it stands is: Client 1 Import Data Runs: Failure - Client 2 Import Data | Success Process Data Process Data Runs: Failure - Client 2 Import Data | Success Post Process Post Process Runs: Completion - Success or Failure - Next Client Import Data This isn't what I'm seeing in my logs though... I see several Client Import Data SSIS log entries, then several Post Process log entries, then back to Client Import Data! Arg!! What am I doing wrong? I didn't think the "success" piece of Client 1 Import Data would kick off until it... well... succeeded aka finished! The logs seem to indicate otherwise though... I really need these tasks to be consecutive not concurrent. Is this possible? Thanks!

There is two models, Post and Comment. -Post can be commented. -Comment can be commented. (endless/threaded) -Should not be a n+1 query problem in system. And how can i get all comment (with hierarchy) of post, without n+1 query problem? Note: I know mttp and other modules but I want to learn this system. Edit: I run "Post.objects.all().prefetch_related("child").get(pk=1)" command and this gave me post and its child comment. But when I wanna get child command of child command a new query is running. I can change command to ...prefetch_related("child__child__child...")... then still a new query running for every depth of child-parent relationship. Is there anyone who has idea about resolve this problem?

• Trouble getting $.ajax() to work in PhoneGap against a locally hosted server

  Currently trying to make an ajax post request to an IIS Express hosted MVC 4 Web API end point from an android VM (Bluestacks) on my machine. Here are the snippets of code that I am trying, and cannot get to work: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://10.0.2.2:28434/api/devices", data: {'EncryptedPassword':'1234','UserName':'test','DeviceToken':'d234'} }).always(function( data, textStatus, jqXHR ) { alert( textStatus ); }); Whenever I run this request I always get back a textStatus of 'error'. • Iframe form not submittin in IE but working in Firefox

  I have got a form that posts values to a page in a wizard. When i'm loading this form in a Iframe everything is working fine in Firefox, it will get me to the second step of the wizard and maintains the values i filled in. When im testing this in Internet Explorer i am not getting to the second step, instead of that it returns me to the first step of the wizard with all fields being blank. When i check this in Fiddler i see that im getting a different response when i'm posting the form in the Iframe from Firefox compared to Internet Explorer. How can i make this work for all browsers? What am I doing wrong?   I have a menu in Rails which grabs a nested tree of Post models, each which have a Slug model associated via a polymorphic association (using the friendly_id gem for slugs and awesome_nested_set for the tree).   I have an app which posts a message like this to a user's Facebook timeline: This is working fine, but if I post a few times, my posts get grouped on my news feed, and I get this: What settings should I use to control the way this news report appears? Instead of 'All about periods' and the page link in the box at the top, I'd like 'Body iQ Quiz' and the app description. Where would I set these values? And is it possible to make the grouped report say 'Jay cee Effex shared a link via Body iQ Quiz', the way the original post does?   Hi guys, I've a little problem with an Html.ListBox! I am developing a personal blog in ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and I created an adminpanel where I can add and edit a post! During this two operations, I can add also tags! I think of use an Html.ListBox() helper to list all tags, and so I can select multiple tags to add in a post! The problem isn't during the add mode, but in the edit mode, where I have to pre-select post's tags! I read that I have to use a MultiSelectList and so in its constructor pass, tags' list and tag's list(pre-selected value). But I don't know how to use this class! I post, some code: This is my models method that get all list tags in selectlist public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> GetTagsListBox() { return from t in db.Tags orderby t.IDTag descending select new SelectListItem { Text = t.TagName, Value = t.IDTag.ToString(), }; } So in Edit (Get and Post), Add(Get and Post) I use a ViewData to pass this list in Html.ListBox(). ViewData["Tags"] = tagdb.GetTagsListBox(); And in my view <%=Html.ListBox("Tags",ViewData["Tags"] as SelectList) %> So with this code it's ok in Add Mode! But in Edit Mode I need to pre-select those values! So Now, of course I have to create a method that get all tagsbypostid! and then in ViewData what Must I to pass? Any suggest?

• ASP.net MVC Linq-To-SQL Many-To-Many Field Binding

  Hi there, The short version of this question is "Is there a way to gracefully handle database insertion for an object that has a many-to-many field that has been set up in a partial class?" Apologies if it's been asked before. Example Suppose I have a typical MVC setup with the tables: Posts {PostID, ...} Categories {CategoryID, ...} A post can have more than one category, and a category can identify more than one post. Thus suppose further that I need an extra table: PostCategories {PostID, CategoryID, ...} This handles the many-to-many relationship between posts and categories. As far as I know, there's no way to do this in Linq-to-SQL right now so I have to shoehorn it in by adding a partial Post class to the project to add that functionality. Something like: public partial class Post { public IEnumerable<Category> Categories{ get { ... } set { ... } } } So I can now create a "Create" view that automatically populates a "Categories" UI item. This is where the trouble starts. So here's my question: How do you get automatic object model binding to work cleanly with an object that has a many-to-many relationship to control? The workaround that makes many-to-many relationships possible relies on the Post object having a PostID in order to be associated with CategoryID(s), which is only issued after the Post object has been submitted for validation and insertion. Bit of a Catch22 here. Any terminology, links, or tips you can provide would be tremendously helpful!

• Symfony 2 - Updating a table based on newly inserted record in another table

  I'm trying to create a small forum application using Symfony 2 and Doctrine 2. My ForumTopic entity has a last_post field (oneToOne mapping). Now when I persist my new post with $em->persist($post); I want to update my ForumTopic entity so its last_post field would reference this new post. I have just realised that it cannot be done with a Doctrine postPersist Listener, so I decided to use a small hack, and tried: $em->persist($post); $em->flush(); $topic->setLastPost($post); $em->persist($post); $em->flush(); but it doesn't seem to update my topics table. I also took a look at http://docs.doctrine-project.org/projects/doctrine-orm/en/2.1/reference/working-with-associations.html#transitive-persistence-cascade-operations hoping it will solve the problem by adding cascade: [ 'persist' ] to my Topic.orm.yml file, but it didn't help, either. Could anyone point me to a solution or an example class? But when it's inserted to the database, at the GUID field, the entry format is like this permalinks_structure/id. So if my permalinks_structure is like /category/id , it become like http://www.example.com/uncategorized/1. So the problem is, if i post through wordpress admin panel, GUID of the post is http://www.example.com?p=1 . So my post database GUID become mess, because if i want to change permalinks_structure , the post which becomes from outside form will follow the structure. What I want to do is, I want to get the GUID like that I posted through admin panel which is http://www.example.com?p=1 How can i do it ? Please point me out. Thank you.

• How can I use SQL Server's full text search across multiple rows at once?

  I'm trying to improve the search functionality on my web forums. I've got a table of posts, and each post has (among other less interesting things): PostID, a unique ID for the individual post. ThreadID, an ID of the thread the post belongs to. There can be any number of posts per thread. Text, because a forum would be really boring without it. I want to write an efficient query that will search the threads in the forum for a series of words, and it should return a hit for any ThreadID for which there are posts that include all of the search words. For example, let's say that thread 9 has post 1001 with the word "cat" in it, and also post 1027 with the word "hat" in it. I want a search for cat hat to return a hit for thread 9. This seems like a straightforward requirement, but I don't know of an efficient way to do it. Using the regular FREETEXT and CONTAINS capabilities for N'cat AND hat' won't return any hits in the above example because the words exist in different posts, even though those posts are in the same thread. (As far as I can tell, when using CREATE FULLTEXT INDEX I have to give it my index on the primary key PostID, and can't tell it to index all posts with the same ThreadID together.) The solution that I currently have in place works, but sucks: maintain a separate table that contains the entire concatenated post text of every thread, and make a full text index on THAT. I'm looking for a solution that doesn't require me to keep a duplicate copy of the entire text of every thread in my forums. Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious?

• Integrating Twitter Into An ASP.NET Website Using OAuth

  Earlier this year I wrote an article about Twitterizer, an open-source .NET library that can be used to integrate your application with Twitter. Using Twitterizer you can allow your visitors to post tweets, view their timeline, and much more, all without leaving your website. The original article, Integrating Twitter Into An ASP.NET Website, showed how to post tweets and view a timeline to a particular Twitter account using Twitterizer 1.0. To post a tweet to a specific account, Twitterizer 1.0 uses basic authentication. Basic authentication is a very simple authentication scheme. For an application to post a tweet to JohnDoe's Twitter account, it would submit JohnDoe's username and password (along with the tweet text) to Twitter's servers. Basic authentication, while easy to implement, is not an ideal authentication scheme as it requires that the integrating application know the username(s) and password(s) of the accounts that it is connected to. Consequently, a user must share her password in order to connect her Twitter account with the application. Such password sharing is not only insecure, but it can also cause difficulties down the line if the user changes her password or decides that she no longer wants to connect her account to certain applications (but wants to remain connected to others). To remedy these issues, Twitter introduced support for OAuth, which is a simple, secure protocol for granting API access. In a nutshell, OAuth allows a user to connect an application to their Twitter account without having to share their password. Instead, the user is sent to Twitter's website where they confirm whether they want to connect to the application. Upon confirmation, Twitter generates an token that is then sent back to the application. The application then submits this token when integrating with the user's account. The token serves as proof that the user has allowed this application access to their account. (Twitter users can view what application's they're connected to and may revoke these tokens on an application-by-application basis.) In late 2009, Twitter announced that it was ending its support for basic authentication in June 2010.
