  • Moving Server to new Hardware - SBS 2008

    - by MikeT505
Hi, We have very quickly out-grown our Small Business Server 2008 current hardware and have decided to purchase a complete new server. What is the best and easiest way to move the server to new hardware? It is one complete box, we do not have any SAN's or any complicated setup. We do have a couple of SQL databases running on the server and we also use Exchange. I'm sure there must be some easy way to move everything :-)

  • View controller is drawing under my navigation bar after popping ttthumbsviewcontroller

    - by scootklein
I'm implementing the TTThumbsViewController from the Three20 project and things are finally starting to take shape. I push the TTThumbsViewController from the current view controller by just pushing it onto the current stack and animate the transition (common navigation controller push). My problem is that when I pop the TThumbsViewController view controller, the navigation controller is stuck in a mode where its view controllers are drawn UNDER the navigation bar (which is now translucent). Start Push Pop

  • UIRotationGestureRecognizer minimum rotation value

    - by dc
Is it possible to set a minimum rotation value necessary for a UIRotationGestureRecognizer to transition into UIGestureRecognizerStateRecognized? I'm using multiple recognizers, and my UIRotationGestureRecognizer keeps getting called with a very small rotation (Between 1 and 15 degrees either direction) rather than my UIPinchGestureRecognizer. What I'd like to do is only have the rotation be called if the rotation is within a certain range, otherwise cancel it and let the pinch be called.

  • Is there a Kerberos testing tool?

    - by ixe013
I often use openssl s_client to test and debug SSL connections (to LDAPS or HTTPS services). It allows me to isolate the problem down to SSL, without anything getting in the way. I know about klist that allows me to purge the ticket cache. Is there tool that would allow me to ask a Kerberos ticket for a given server, not event sending it ? Just enough to see the whole Kerberos exchange in Wireshark for example ?

  • C# - Coding a nested stateflow diagram

    - by weberc2
    I have the following state diagram. I know how to make a simple state machine that transitions between non-nested states; however, I don't know how to transition between nested states. Could someone explain how to do this at an appropriately high level (i.e., you don't need to write the code for me--unless you're feeling particularly generous :P). State Diagram [EDIT: The bottom "A", "C", and "E" should be "B", "D", and "F" respectively; sorry!] What I know how to do public class MyState : State // State enumeration { public static MyState A = new MyState("State A"); public static MyState B = new MyState("State B"); public static MyState C = new MyState("State C"); public static MyState D = new MyState("State D"); public static MyState E = new MyState("State E"); public static MyState F = new MyState("State F"); public static MyState NEUT = new MyState("Neutral"); public static MyState P = new MyState("P"); protected MyState(string name) : base(name) { } } public class MyEvent : Event // Event enumeration { public static MyEvent X_POS = new MyEvent("X+"); public static MyEvent X_NEG = new MyEvent("X-"); public static MyEvent Y_POS = new MyEvent("Y+"); public static MyEvent Y_NEG = new MyEvent("Y-"); protected MyEvent(string name) : base(name) { } } public class MyStateMachine : StateMachine<MyState, MyEvent> // State Machine implementation { public MyStateMachine() : base(MyState.P) // MyState.P = initial state { // Set up the transition table // P this.addTransition(MYState.P, MyState.NEUT, MyEvent.Y_NEG); // NEUTRAL this.addTransition(MyState.NEUT, MyState.P, MyEvent.Y_POS); this.addTransition(MyState.NEUT, MyState.A, MyEvent.Y_NEG); this.addTransition(MyState.NEUT, MyState.B, MyEvent.Y_POS); this.addTransition(MyState.NEUT, MyState.C, MyEvent.Y_NEG); this.addTransition(MyState.NEUT, MyState.D, MyEvent.Y_POS); this.addTransition(MyState.NEUT, MyState.E, MyEvent.Y_NEG); this.addTransition(MyState.NEUT, MyState.F, MyEvent.Y_POS); // A this.addTransition(MyState.A, MyState.NEUT, MyEvent.Y_POS); // B this.addTransition(MyState.B, MyState.NEUT, MyEvent.Y_NEG); // C this.addTransition(MyState.C, MyState.NEUT, MyEvent.Y_POS); // D this.addTransition(MyState.D, MyState.NEUT, MyEvent.Y_NEG); // E this.addTransition(MyState.E, MyState.NEUT, MyEvent.Y_POS); // F this.addTransition(MyState.F, MyState.NEUT, MyEvent.Y_NEG); } public void move(MyEvent eevent) { try { this.moveNext(eevent); } catch (Exception e) { } } }

  • Determine the 'Overtype' mode using Javascript

    - by Snorkpete
We are creating a web app to replace an old-school green-screen application. In the green-screen app, as the user presses the Insert key to switch between overtype and insert modes, the cursor changes to indicate which input mode the user is currently in. In IE (which is the official browser of the company), overtype mode also works, but there's no visual indication as to whether overtype mode is on or not, until the user starts typing and possibly over-writes existing information unexpectedly. I'd like to put some sort of visual indicator on the screen if in overtype mode. How can you determine if the browser is in 'overtype mode' from Javascript? Is there some property or function i can query to determine if the browser is in overtype mode? Even an IE-specific solution would be helpful, since our corporate policy dictates the browser to use as IE7 (pure torture, btw). (I do know that one solution is to do check for key presses of the Insert key. However, it's a solution that I'd prefer to avoid since that method seems a bit flaky & error-prone because I can't guarantee what mode the user would be in BEFORE he/she hits my page. ) The reasoning behind this question: The functionality of this portion of the green-screen app is such that the user can select from a list of 'preformatted bodies of text'. crude eg. The excess for this policy is: $xxxxxx and max limit is:$xxxxxx Date of policy is: xx/xx/xxxx and expires : xx/xx/xxxx Some other irrelevant text After selecting this 'preformatted text', the user would then use overtype to replace the x's with actual values, without disturbing the alignment of the rest of the text. (To be clear, they can still edit any part of the 'preformatted text' if they so wished. It's just that usually, they just wish to replace specific portions of the text. Keeping the alignment is important since these sections of text can end up on printed documents.) Of course, the same effect can be achieved by just selecting the x's to replace first, but it would be helpful (with respect to easing the transition to the web app) to allow old methods of doing things to continue to work, while still allowing 'web methods' to be used by the more tech-savvy users. Essentially, we're trying to make the initial transition from the green-screen app to the web app be as seemless as possible to minimise the resistance from the long-time green-screeners.

  • How to animate CornerRadius property with four distinct values - "0,0,0,0" to "0,0,10,10" ?

    - by banzai
Hi all I have to transition the CornerRadius property of a Border from value "0,0,0,0" to value "0,0,10,10" via an animation. This must be done directly in the XAML file w/o using code behind other than a ValueConverter or similar. I think CornerRadius is animatable using an ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames - but how to animate just two of the four values of the CornerRadius structure ? Thanks in advance !

Exchange is a little more expensive but we are considering that as well. Any suggestions/ recommendations regarding these two or others????

  • iPhone cocos2d CCTMXTiledMap tile transitions

    - by Jeff Johnson
I am using cocos2d on the iPhone and am wondering if it is possible to use a texture mask in order to create tile transitions / fringe layer. For example, a grass tile and a dirt tile, I would want a tile that had both grass and dirt in it... Has anyone done this, or is the only way to create one tile for every possible transition?

  • Morphing from an image to a shape in Silverlight 3

    - by Moo
Hi, I have a requirement to morph from an image (png) to a shape (polygon) in Silverlight 3 as an effect, but of course there is no built in transition or method to do this. At the moment the best I have is fade one out and the other in, but can anyone suggest a decent alternative that may work or look better? Regards Moo

  • UIView "suck" animation

    - by igul222
I'd like to use the UIView "sucking" transition (view is "sucked" into a point) referenced here: http://iphonedevwiki.net/index.php/UIViewAnimationState#Using_suckEffect The method above, however, uses private APIs, which makes it next to useless for an App Store app. How can I recreate a similar effect without relying on private APIs? I'm guessing the answer has to do with OpenGL, although I have zero experience there.

  • Active Directory: delete vs. disable departed employees

    - by Matt Rogish
When an employee leaves your organization, do you delete or disable their Active Directory account? Our SOP is to disable, export/purge the Exchange mailbox, and then after "some time" has elapsed (usually quarterly), delete the account. Is there any need for that delay? After exporting and purging their mailbox, why shouldn't I delete the account right then and there?

  • Going from a math career to a cs career: how to do it?

    - by Joseph
Hey, I'm looking for some advice on how to successfully make the transition from mathematics to CS. My academic background is in mathematics (BS and MSc), and I've taken loads of math courses as well. You name it, and I took it: Measure Theory, Algebra, PDES, Manifolds, Complex Analysis, etc. I progressed quite far along this track, and at one point, I thought I would be a professional mathematician...But around the time I was finishing my MSc, I really got sick of it. Studying very abstract mathematics was fun, but it really lost it's appeal to me. Outside of a couple hundred people, I'm not sure if anybody would understand my research. I did not want to be 60 years old and say that my only contribution to the world consisted of published papers. Anyways, I've been an off and on hobbyist programmer since 2002. I've programmed in C and Java (just small projects), and I really started to be drawn to the area as time passed. There's a real appeal to CS work because, well, it actually means something to other people out there! I enjoy all parts of it: designing webpages (a real artistic appeal). On the other end, I do enjoy toying with compilers and more nitty-gritty stuff as well. Suffice to say, I have broad interests out there. Anyways, I know it's a bit late, but I was wondering if there were other folks out there who made the change, and if so, how I could do so. I know I have some fairly big gaps to fill in terms of data structures, lack of internship experience, etc. But I really would like to make this work. So my question is simply: How can I make the switch from math to CS? To pay the bills, I'll be doing financial analysis for a company, but I'd like to eventually transition into a developer type position. I've been reading "Algorithm Design" by Tardos and doing all the problems. It's not hard to make progress since the problems are far more concrete than the stuff I've been doing the past six years. I feel I can make fairly rapid progress in picking up all the materials from data structures, etc. but none of it can substitute the past several years I've lost. Anyways, I'm eager to learn but would love some advice/concrete direction. Thanks, Joseph

  • DPM 2010 iSCSI Mirror

    - by Thermionix
We're using DPM 2010 for exchange backups, The backup Disk(s) are iSCSI attached drives from multiple NAS boxes. We'd like to mirror iqn.2009-07.com.example.example:RAID.iscsi4.vg0.iscsi05 onto iqn.2012-3.com.example.example:RAID.iscsi4.vg0.iscsi05 DPM 2010 requires the disk for itself and handles volume creation, Therefore we can't just create a mirrored volume in Disk Management. DPM itself doesn't seem to have any ability to mirror the Disks in its storage pool. Any tips on how to mirror the volumes from one drive to the other?

  • Software Engineer, Developer, Programmer - Just a name?

    - by user51229
I look at ads and the jobs seem to overlap. A lot of software engineer jobs even say CS or related degree so it doesn't seem like a degree in CS = software engineer. It seems like a programmer or developer with experience can transition to the role or become an "engineer". Or is the engineer just the same job with a fancy name... Is there really a difference or is it just HR throwing names around?

  • Can anyone recommend any good learning resources for an experienced PHP web developer wanting to mov

    - by Camsoft
I'm an experienced PHP web developer and am wanting to learn ASP.NET so that I can consider going for ASP.NET jobs. I've looked at a few introduction to ASP.NET books but I always find that they start far to simple and cover the basics of HTML and general web development. I'm looking for learning resources that will help me make that transition as an experienced web developer. Can anyone recommend any?
