  • Broke NetBeans file associations in Windows XP how do I get them back?

    Hello... I broke my file association in XP... Does anyone have any clue how to fix it? When I right click and select Open With... the application I want to use (NetBeans) to open the file is not on the list... and when I browse for it it won't let me select it (well it does but then won't add it to the list). The way I broke it is by installing 6.7 and then uninstalling 6.5.... since then my file associations have all been broken. I even tried uninstalling NetBeans and reinstalling it again... no luck... I even went as far as adding my own action called "OpenIt" to the file types I wanted... and that works... but only if the file/folders that contain in don't have any spaces... otherwise NetBeans throws a ".....does not exist, or is not a plain file". Thus nothing off the desktop can be opened... Does anyone know of how I can fix this problem? Thanks.

    My understanding of the Git pack file format is something like: Where the table is 32-bits wide, and the first three 32-bit words are the pack file header. The last row of 32 bits are the first 4 bytes of an entry. As I understand it, the size of the entry is specified by consecutive bytes with the MSB set, followed by compressed data. In the first byte whose MSB is not set, is the MSB part of the compressed data, or is it a gap? If it's part of the compressed data, how can you guarantee that when the data is compressed that bit won't be set?

    I have got around 800 files of maximum 55KB-100KB each where the data is in this format Date/Time/Float1/Float2/Float3/Float4/Integer Date is in DD/MM/YYYY format and Time is in the format of HH:MM Here the date ranges from say 1st May to 1June and each day, the Time varies from 09:00 to 15:30. I want to run a program so that, for each file, it extracts the data pertaining to a particular given date and writes to a file. I will not face any problem in writing into directory operations. I am trying to get around, to form a to do a search and extract operation. I dont know, how to do it, would like to have some idea. Thanks Soham

    Hi All, I am trying out the VS 2010 testing tools for the first time. And I tried recording a web performance test and my actions had a file download implemented as in the KB article here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812406 by streaming chunks of 10000 bytes. However my test is failing at the download saying "The response stream has been closed". Please help me understand why it is happening this way also any suggestions how you would test such a file download. My main aim was to see how the download was performing for a load test with Intercontinental 350kbps connection on files of about 30-50 MB. Thanks.

    I need to serialize some data in a binary format for efficiency (datalog where 10-100MB files are typical), and I'm working out the formatting details. I'm wondering if realistically I need to worry about file corruption / error correction / etc. What are circumstances where file corruption can happen? Should I be building robustness to corruption into my binary format? Or should I wrap my nonrobust-to-corruption stream of bytes with some kind of error correcting code? (any suggestions? I'm using Java) Or should I just not worry about this?

    I have a django application that creates xls and txt files. I'm trying to create a button which sends a jQuery.get request to django, django then returns a freshly created file to jQuery which in turn pops open a save as dialog. My code looks like this: jQuery("#testButton").live("click",function() { jQuery.jGrowl("click"); jQuery.get("/filetest",function(data){}); }); <div id="testButton" class="button">CLICK TO TEST</div> Getting the file to jQuery is easy, but I have no idea how to then raise a Save As dialog.   • PHP File Serving Script: Unreliable Downloads?

    This post started as a question on ServerFault ( http://serverfault.com/questions/131156/user-receiving-partial-downloads ) but I determined that our php script was the culprit. So I'm issuing an updated question here about what I believe is the actual issue. I am using a php script to verify permissions and then serve up a file for users of my website to download. Most of the time, this works, but recently one user has been seeing problems with larger downloads. He is only getting ~80% of downloads for files that are 100MB in size. Also, all downloads from this script fail to report a filesize. Further, tests revealed that the same user COULD reliably download each of the failed files if given a direct link (at which point the filesize is reported). Here's the relevant snippet of code that we are using to serve the file: header("Content-type:$contenttype"); $len = filesize($filename); header("Content-Length: $len"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=".$title.".".$ext); readfile($filename); Note that $contenttype, $filename, $title, and $ext are all set correctly before we get here. These have been triple-checked. None of them are the problem. Also, $len does provide the correct filesize. While researching this issue, I came across this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1334471/content-length-header-always-zero It seems that I am encountering the same issue. When I use the script, I get chunked encoding on the file and no size is set for content-length. I'm hypothesizing that something is going wrong on the large downloads, leading him to get a zero-length chunk before the end of the file.     I'm trying to implement the following feature: I want just one css file to be attached for any page that I rendered. For example take StackOverflow site. For the questions page, we will have questions.css file. so.com/questions ---> questions.css so.com/question/1234/title ---> question.css so.com/about ---> about.css so.com/faq ---> faq.css Now, I know that this css files share code in common, because they may have the same MasterPage(s) / UserControls. So, the solution need to take into account MasterPages, views and usercontrols as well. So, what will be the right solution for this kind of problem? I'm thinking about one solution, I'll put is as an answer, but maybe you have a better solution for this?

  • Issues regarding internet connectivity

    Hello. My problem started when Yahoo Messenger stopped connecting. I've tried to see if Internet Explorer was working but will not load any page. The diagnostics of Internet Explorer says that is something wrong with my dns(using just ip of google or yahoo or my local webserver was not working). I use Windows 7 and at the moment i've had Internet Explorer 8 and after a lot of failing updates to ie9 I've successfully install the Romanian version of IE9(now i have ie8 after a system restore). Then I installed the service pack 1. I've done a lot of things and I will try to enumerate them, but my problem persists. Settings from Yahoo Messenger and Internet Explorer are OK. I've try to reset winsock and ip from netsh. I've scanned my pc with spybot, mallwarebytes, Trojan Remover(simplysup), Loaris Trojan Remover, Avast, Nod32, Kaspersky, Bitdefender,alot of registry cleaner including CCleaner and maybe others that I cannot remember now. I reset the registry permissions using subinacl. At a moment my files permissions was set jut to "trusted installer" and I've put the permission back to files and folders using the model of other windows 7 machine. I have try so many things that now i'm stuck in a loop using different security tools to check for problems. Oh, and my virtual machines are working just fine.(I'm using VirtualBox) Please Help. PS, Reinstalling Windows is not an option. Thank you!

    Is there a way to learn the username of the user that has a file open? I am developing a program that will be a desktop client for many users. The application will open some files and I'd like to allow many users to open the files at the same time, but only allow the first user to have write privileges. What I want is to be able to tell the other users who has write access to a file. Is that something that can be learned by an application? (I am developing in VS 2008).

My logic told me to do this: $('a.del').click(delete_element()); Having my js file like this: function delete_element(){ resp=window.confirm("Are you sure you want to delete this?"); if(resp) return true; else return false; } This doesn't work. Everytime my page loads, it displays the confirm window, even if I haven't clicked the link. It is clear that my logic failed this time. What am I missing?

I know I can use require, include to echo the results, but what I want to do is to store its processed output string into a variable. In a page, I used: $headerHTML=file_get_contents('header.php'); Then I got the PHP code output rather than the processed HTML output. I know adding http:// would help. But I prefer to keep using relative path, how can I tell the function to treat the php file correctly?

Var: fh: File Of Tfulldata; I want to analyse the data in the files (many MB in size) using Python if possible - is there an easy way to read in the data and cast the data into Python objects similar in form to the Delphi records? Does anyone know of a library perhaps that does this?

  • Reading from a file not line-by-line

    Assigning a QTextStream to a QFile and reading it line-by-line is easy and works fine, but I wonder if the performance can be inreased by first storing the file in memory and then processing it line-by-line. Using FileMon from sysinternals, I've encountered that the file is read in chunks of 16KB and since the files I've to process are not that big (~2MB, but many!), loading them into memory would be a nice thing to try. Any ideas how can I do so? QFile is inhereted from QIODevice, which allows me to ReadAll() it into QByteArray, but how to proceed then and divide it into lines?

  • rails - Redirecting console output to a file

    On a bash console, if I do this: cd mydir ls -l > mydir.txt The operator captures the standard input and redirects it to a file; so I get the listing of files in mydir.txt instead of in the standard output. Is there any way to do something similar on the rails console? I've got a ruby statement that generates lots of prints (~8k lines) and I'd like to be able to see it completely, but the console only "remembers" the last 1024 lines or so. So I thought about redirecting to a file - If anyone knows a better option, I'm all ears.
