• CSS Issue in Firefox/IE

  I'm working on a site's CSS and am running across an issue with the body margin section. If you look at this in Firefox and then IE, you can see the line isn't lined up right in Firefox, but it is in IE. (In the black header section). Here is what I have for the body tag, It's something with the margin and I can't figure it out: body { margin: -2px; padding: 0px; background: #E7E7E7 url(images/bg01.jpg) repeat-x left top; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #888888; } Thank you for any responses!

• IE6 background appears-disappears on scrolling

  Hi, Given IE6, an UL-LI list and a background image for the UL container. <style> ul {background-image: url(images/bgr.png);} </style> ... <ul> <li>...</li> ... </ul> When I load the page, the background is randomly loaded, some parts are visible, some are not. Moreover, it changes on runtime when I'm scrolling on the page. When I scroll out the UL list and scroll back, different parts of the background will be visible, depends on the speed of scrolling. • preventing window blur/focusOut when selecting copy/paste menu

  I am trying to determine when the user has moved focus out of the browser to: select copy/paste (but not to the google search box). Ffox handles this nicely. selecting another window/tab/external widget (e.g., the google search box). focusOut and blur listeners on window and document cannot seem to disambiguate between these two types of focus changes. Can IE do this? I want this distinction so that I can better support usability in my web app without losing focus.

• I have a BHO in c++ and i need to block some keyboard controls (Ctrl-o) in a i-frame.

  I need to know of a way to prevent the user to 'open a new url' (with Ctrl-o) as soon as he has the focus on my sidebar (right-sided iframe). In fact, my sidebar offers some controls and the user should not be able to 'navigate' to other website through the sidebar. I'm using a bho in C++ using ATL(active template library), but maybe if anyone knows of a simplier way like in JS(javascript) or PHP(Hypertext Preprocessor) ? Any ideas is appreciated.   I need an up-to-date jQuery color animation plugin that works in IE 8. • IE 7 activex object (or xmlhttprequest?) open method using POST takes 20-30 seconds to return

  i have a problem that only shows itself in IE7. its a simple ajax call. i got my object (accounting for the browser) so in 7 i SHOULD have an ActiveXObject. when i call open with POST, it takes 20-30 seconds to return. i am using a TON of GET calls to populate information and all of these work (finally, after some bug fixing), but i am NOT a web developer so much like the other bugs i had to fix, i figured i was just missing another IE anomaly. this is not a consistent bug either, which makes it harder to find for me. most times the POST functions like it does in Firefox or Chrome, but maybe 1 out of 4 or 5 will take 20-30 seconds to return. it DOES return correctly when it returns, it just takes a long time. am i missing something simple? or is there a smarter way for me to find out exactly what is going on (like the equivalent of the firebug 'net' tab for windows?).

  I have a Windows XP and I just installed about 12 new programs. Big mistake! Before I installed these programs, my internet connection was running great. But now after installing and restarting my laptop, the internet is crawling. How can I see what was changed? Hint: prior to installing these 12 programs, I installed IE version 8. So probably if I removed that it would fix it, but the problem is I need IE in order for my SQL/C# web application to work properly.

  Hello, Is it possible to launch an application from a browser? I am not talking about opening a file from a browser (like open a PDF with Adobe Reader), but rather opening a new (blank) instance of an application that is installed on the user's machine. Hypothetical situation: User browses a website that lists computers that can be managed via RDP. He clicks on a link to 192.168.1.10, that link opens Microsoft RDP client (mstsc.exe) with that ip address already filled out. I am talking strictly about Windows universe. Is that thing even doable outside of ActiveX and IE? Is it wise to attempt this in IE with ActiveX ? Thanks a lot,

  Anyone try this simple bit of code in an ie8 browswer and try refreshing the page, in ie8 you will get an error around getelementbyid on refresh.   This is a tall order, but is there a jQuery or Mootools (or other framework) plugin to wrap text around images and support IE6? I've tried the jQSlickWrap, but unless the browser supports HTML 5, you're out of luck. What's strange is that IE 6 supports the jQuery Background Canvas plugin, which uses the CANVAS object (via excanvas.js) just as this plugin does. Thanks.

  I have a 3rd website (Confluence) which references images which are secured by a login. If the current user is logged in the image is shown if not the image url would redirect to a login form. Example When you enter this url in the browser a redirect to the login page is done. The problem now: IE shows a the dreaded red X icon for the image even though there should be just nothing (like in Firefox). Anyone knows how to get around this?

• HTTP Handler error when downloading files - SSL

  Ok big problem as this is affecting two projects on our new server. We have a file that is downloaded by users, the files are downloaded using a HTTPHandler. Since moving the site to the server and setting SSL the downloads have stopped working and we get an error message "Unable to download DownloadDocument.ashx" from site". DownloadDocument.ashx is the handler page that is set in the web.config and the button that goes there is a hyperlink with the id of the document as a querystring. Ive read the article on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316431 and read a few other requests on this site but nothing seems to be working. But by default this is disabled and I need to force the download box to be prompting. Can I do anything without change a lot of code? Thanks.

• Scroll event of jquery is not working in IE 7 with IE 7 standard but works in IE8,9

  I have an example below which has a terms div which has some terms and conditions as content. When the user scroll the div to bottom, then the checkbox is enabled. This is only not working only in IE 7 with IE 7/8/9 standards (I am changing the standard options from Developer window). • Cloning input type file and set the value

  I know that it isn't possible to set the value of an input type="file" for security reasons... My problem is: I needed to style an input type="file" so what I did was have a button and hide the file input. like: <a href="#" onclick="$('input[name=&quot;photo1&quot;]').click(); return false;" id="photo1-link"></a> <input type="file" name="photo1" class="fileInput jqtranformdone validate[required]" id="photo1" /> These works great in all browsers except IE which gives me an access denied error on submitting through ajax. I'm using the ajaxSubmit jquery plugin (malsup.com/jquery/form/) So after reading for a while I tried to do: var photo1Val = $('#photo1').val(); var clone1 = $('#photo1').clone().val(photo1Val); $('#photo1').remove(); clone1.appendTo('form'); console.log(photo1Val) //prints the right value C:/fakepath/blablabla.jpg $('form').ajaxSubmit(options); The problem is that after this the value of $('#photo1') is empty... Any ideas how to work around this? Thanks

• iframe height not taken into account by IE8

  Hi guys, I'm building a dummy widget for a iGoogle/Netvibes like portal. This is a "Google Maps" widget, as it only renders a map centered on a specific location. The widget looks good in all browsers but IE8, in which the height I specify to the <div> that contains the map is not taken into account. Here's the interesting part of the code: <body onload="initialize()" > <div id="map_canvas" style="height:400px; width: 100%;"></div> </body> I have no control on the portal, so the only thing I can modify is the widget itself. I also tried to set the height for the <body>, but same thing. Any idea on why it's not working in IE? Thanks!

I also tried to remove width attribute from the div which contains 2nd background image, then get the windows size and add the difference to the container div as left attribute with Jquery. It worked fine in all IE versions but this time not on Chrome here is a print screen any ideas please?
