• How to Add a Taskbar to the Desktop in Ubuntu 14.04

  If you’ve switched to Ubuntu from Windows, it may take some time to get used to the new and different interface. However, you can easily incorporate a familiar Windows feature, the Taskbar, into Ubuntu to make the transition easier. A tool called Tint2 provides a bar at the bottom of the Ubuntu Desktop that resembles the Windows Taskbar. We will show you how to install it and make it start every time you log into Ubuntu. NOTE: When we say to type something in this article and there are quotes around the text, DO NOT type the quotes, unless we specify otherwise. Press Ctrl + Alt + T to open a Terminal window. To install Tint2, type the following line at the prompt and press Enter. sudo apt-get install tint2 Type your password at the prompt and press Enter. The progress of the installation displays and then a message displays saying how much disk space will be used. When asked if you want to continue, type a “y” and press Enter. When the installation has finished, close the Terminal window by typing “exit” at the prompt and pressing Enter. Click the Search button at the top of the Unity bar. Start typing “startup applications” in the Search box. Items that match what you type start displaying below the Search box. When the Startup Applications tool displays, click the icon to open it. On the Startup Applications Preferences window, click Add. On the Add Startup Program dialog box, enter a name for the startup application. This name displays in the list on the Startup Applications Preferences window. Type “tint2” in the Command edit box, enter a description in the Comment edit box, if desired, and click Add. Tint2 is added as a startup program and will start every time you log into Ubuntu. Click Close to close the Startup Applications Preferences window. Log out and log back in to make the Taskbar available on the desktop. You do not need to reboot the computer for this change to take effect. Now, when you minimize a program, an icon for it displays on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen, just like the Taskbar in Windows. If you decide that you don’t want the Taskbar to display every time you log into Ubuntu, you can uncheck the Tint2 startup program on the Startup Applications Preferences window. You don’t need to delete it from the list.

  I launched a byobu session (tmux) and then tried to switch to a user called kommander "su - kommander", it immediately prompted me with: [Oh My Zsh] Would you like to check for updates? Type Y to update oh-my-zsh: Now I usually press "n" and everything is fine, but within the byobu session, when I press enter it just displays a "^M" character. • Can not add custom keyboard shortcut

  I'm trying to assign custom shortcut to lunch my own script (I don't need it in terminal window, just lunch it) So, I went to Settings - Keyboard - Shortcuts - Custom Shortcuts press the button with "+" and enter the name of shortcut and the command itself. But then I cannot bind keys to that shortcut. I select new row and press needed keys (Shift + F3) and nothing happens. I can change the keys for system shortcuts, but do not have any luck with my own. Any ideas?

  I'm trying to pair my ps3 controller with trusty. I've tried this so far: $ sudo sixpair Current Bluetooth master: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx Setting master bd_addr to xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx And then I unplug my controller and run this command: $ sixad --start D-Bus setup failed: Name already in use sixad-bin[4843]: started sixad-bin[4843]: sixad started, press the PS button now But when I press the PS button, nothing happens! I've searched a lot in Google and this process works everywhere, but I don't know it doesn't work here...thanks for your help...

• Booting problem with 12.04

  i do have a 12.04 ubuntu on my notebook , but i do have a problem with it. I cannot boot , if i dont press anything then there is a black screen , and it does not boot. If i press the space button , or any other key , for mutlitples times , like 20 or 25 times or more then it's boot in seconds , and normally. How can i resolve this? Thanks Ps:I do not have a problem with bios as it's already booting on first for the hard drive

• Problems with installing Ubuntu 12.04 alongside Windows 7

  Despite others, the installation shows "Install alongside Windows 7" option but when I select that option, it asks to remove the installation drive and close the tray if any and press Enter. After I press Enter, it restarts and opens Windows and when I put the CD-R again, it goes back to the option. What shall I do? I don't want to delete any files and Windows 7 but still want to try out Ubuntu 12.04 as I was a former user of Ubuntu 11.04 a year or so ago.

  A few days ago the iReport Team announced the new 5.5.0 iReport release. With it comes the latest iReport plugin for NetBeans IDE 7.4. The NetBeans iReport plugin is by FAR the most downloaded plugin on the NetBeans Plugin Portal.   The current version for App.config XML tranformations as described in a previous post does not support the SP1 BETA version of Visual Studio. I did some quick tests and decided to provide a different version with a compatibility fix for those already experimenting with the beta release of the service pack. This is a quick workaround to the build errors I found when using the transformations in SP1 beta and is pretty much untested since I’ll wait for the final release of the service pack to take a closer look to any possible problems.   Oracle Announces the Certification of the Oracle Database on Oracle Linux 6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Yesterday we announced the certification of Oracle Database 11g R2 with Oracle Linux 6 and Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. Here are the key highlights: Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (R2) and Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (R1) are immediately available on Oracle Linux 6 with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. Oracle Database 11g R2 and Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g R1 will be available on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL6) and Oracle Linux 6 with the Red Hat Compatible Kernel in 90 days. Oracle offers direct Linux support to customers running RHEL6, Oracle Linux 6, or a combination of both. Oracle Linux will continue to maintain compatibility with Red Hat Linux.
