• loading multiple .mat files in MATLAB

  I have 110 files named time1.mat, time2.mat ..., time110.mat. I want to load these matrices into the MATLAB workspace. I have always used load -'ASCII' matrix.mat to load an ASCII matrix file in the current folder. So I tried doing for i=1:10 filename=strcat('time',int2str(i),'.mat'); load -'ASCII' filename end But I am getting a MATLAB error as ??? Error using ==> load Unable to read file filename: No such file or directory. ? Of course the string filename seems to be evaluated correctly by MATLAB as time1.mat. in the first iteration where it crashes at the load line. Any suggestions how I should do this?

• WCF - (504) The server did not return a response for this request.

  I have a JSONP WCF service,using back end as MySql.It is working properly when i run it locally with visual studio. Now we have hosted it in Windows Server 2003. Now there is very strange problem occurring.. When I do a request with fiddler which does not require much processing internally, it gives me result 200 OK with desired output as response, But when I do a request which requires some internal data processing, it gives me 504 error(gateway time out error). I also looked at C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles to see if it logs any error but it shows ok result in fiddler request which is as follows: Fields: date time s-sitename s-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query s-port cs-username c-ip cs(User-Agent) sc-status sc-substatus sc-win32-status 2010-04-07 10:08:06 W3SVC490896353 s-ip GET /InitialState.svc/GetInitialState reference=1&pageId=18 8080 - c-ip Fiddler 200 0 64 Can anyone please help me to resolve the problem ?? • Paypal adaptive payment API call with C# .NET? Preferably with WebServices

  Okay I might be entirely off track now but here goes: Our "webshop" offers two functions, buying a specific product and selling it back to us. Back-end handles if the user can sell or not. I've decided to use Paypal's adaptive payments for this one as it seems the way to go doing these kinds of transactions. I've never implemented any kind of shop so I'm totally green with this one. I only recently learned ASP.NET and have mainly developed games before moving to this kind of development. HTTP is still some level of magic to me hehe.. I might be confused but I think paypal offers a webservice with their adaptive payment API. My humble request: A nice soul who wants to share an example of implementing an adaptive payment API call with C# .NET. If they don't offer it as a webservice I'll probably find it as a custom .dll or something. Any tips and examples are highly appreciated! Thanks for reading

• Ruby types of collections in ActiveRecord

  If I have an object with a collection of child objects in ActiveRecord, i.e. class Foo < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :bars, ... end and I attempt to run Array's find method against that collection: foo_instance.bars.find { ... } I receive: ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound: Couldn't find Bar without an ID I assume this is because ActiveRecord has hijacked the find method for its own purposes. Now, I can use detect and everything is fine. However to satisfy my own curiousity, I attempted to use metaprogramming to explicitly steal the find method back for one run: unbound_method = [].method('find').unbind unbound_method.bind(foo_instance.bars).call { ... } and I receive this error: TypeError: bind argument must be an instance of Array so clearly Ruby doesn't think foo_instance.bars is an Array and yet: foo_instance.bars.instance_of?(Array) -> true Can anybody help me with an explanation of this and of a way to get around it with metaprogramming?

• Editing Mac OS X login items in Objective-C through AppleScript

  In my Cocoa program, I want to examine what programs are registered to run at startup and modify that list as I feel appropriate. In order to be compatible with Tiger it seems like I need to work through AppleScript. I currently have the following code: NSDictionary* errorDict; NSAppleEventDescriptor* returnDescriptor = NULL; NSString *appleSource = @"tell application \"System Events\"\n\ get every login item\n\ end tell"; NSAppleScript *appleScript = [[NSAppleScript alloc] initWithSource: appleSource]; returnDescriptor = [appleScript executeAndReturnError: &errorDict]; If I run that command in AppleScript, I get back an array of login items. However, I can't figure out how to iterate through this array in Objective-C. More specifically, I want to examine the names and paths of the programs registered to run at startup. Any ideas?

• PHP text output in clauses

  Hello. I am working on a PHP project. There, I often use following syntax to output text in a cluase: if($boolean){ ?> output text <? }else{ ?> alternative <? } On my computer, this works perfectly well. I use XAMPP foer Mac OS X. But when I send the files to my coworker, these outputs often do not work and the compiler complains about having reached an unexpected $end of file. This occurs especially often when there is a tag in the output. We have to replace the means of output with echo. What's the reason for this strange behavior of the compiler? Is the above-mention syntax of outputting text wrong?

  I have an button just as have Ask Question on SO and here is the CSS for it: .rfs .grey_btn{ float: right; margin: 15px 5px; } Now I have to add border shadow to it and I have tried border-radius and box-shadow but it does not give me proper result. Also other question is that I have a label or box say and now I want to increase size of that box so that I have move the text inside that box to right, currently if I move it to right than it reaches the end limit of box and so I want to increase the size of box so that I can push text more towards right.   I have a NSMutableDictionary of NSMutableSets. Each set entry is a string, something like this: NSMutableSet *mySet = [NSMutableSet setWithObjects: [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", time1], [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", time2], [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", time3], nil]; // time 1,2,3, are NSTimeInterval variables then I store each set on the dictionary using this: NSString *rightNowString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", rightNow]; [myDict setValue:mySet forKey:rightNow]; // rightNow is NSTimeInterval as rightNow key can occur out of order, I end with a NSDictionary that is not ordered by rightNow. How can I sort this NSDictionary by its keys considering that they are numbers stored as strings on the dictionary...? I don't care for ordering the sets, just the dictionary. thanks for any help.

• Objective-C partial implementation of classes in separate files

  I am using core data and am generating classes from my data model. I implement custom methods in these classes, however when i regenerate i generate over the top so i end up copying and pasting a bit. What i would like to do is split my implementation files ('.m') so i can have one header file with multiple '.m' files. then i can keep my custom methods in one and not have to worry about erasing them when i regenerate. I use this technique in .NET a lot with its partial keyword. Is there anything similar in objective-C

  I'm not entirely sure what to call what C# does, so I haven't had any luck searching for the VB.Net equivalent syntax (if it exists, which I suspect it probably doesn't). In c#, you can do this: public void DoSomething() { new MyHelper().DoIt(); // works just fine } But as far as I can tell, in VB.Net, you must assign the helper object to a local variable or you just get a syntax error: Public Sub DoSomething() New MyHelper().DoIt() ' won't compile End Sub Just one of those curiosity things I run into from day to day working on mixed language projects - often there is a VB.Net equivalent which uses less than obvious syntax. Anyone?

• Can I use ido-completing-read instead of completing-read everywhere?

  I'm a big fan of ido-mode, so much so that I would like to use it for things like describe-function or find-tag and so on, without having to write something like in "Can I get ido-mode-style completion for searching tags in Emacs?" for each one. Both (defalias completing-read ido-completing-read) and (setf 'completing-read 'ido-completing-read) don't work, at least partly because ido-completing-read calls completing-read in its body, so any simple redefinition would result in infinite recursion. In theory, it should be possible, since the first line of the docstring for ido-completing-read is "Ido replacement for the built-in completing-read." I've looked around a bit and can't seem to find anyone else who has attempted or succeeded at it. I realize that Icicles [2] probably provides something like this, and I may end up going with that anyway, but it is a bit more of a plunge than I care to take right now. Thanks for any help.

I'm trying this: has_permission_on :missions, :to => [:manage] do if_attribute [:affiliations, {:mission => :organization} ] => intersects_with { user.affiliations.type_admin } end But I get the error: [:affiliations, {:mission=>:organization}] is not a symbol What's wrong with the syntax?

  I have a xml that i need to bind to XTemplate. The XML structure is as follows John Smith John Doe Johny Byrd I am using Ext.data.Store with proxyurl tot he xml, Ext.data.XML reader to rad the xml and a listener that bind the data to the Xtemplate. The xmlreader needs a root node to be specified and i have to give root name as "Student_Name" It need to bind it to one more store for "Faculty_Name" as the root node. SO i end up calling my service to get xml twice. Is there a way to call service once to get the xml and bind it to two stores with different root nodes.

My answer keeps on being 666 instead of 18.   Hello. I have created new a view controller in my project (ActivateController). I have added it to the interface of the parent view controller (PrefsViewController): #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "ActivateController.h" @interface PrefsViewController : UIViewController <UITextFieldDelegate> { ActivateController *activateController; } -(IBAction)pressedActivate; @property(nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet ActivateController *activateController; @end I have also added it to parent's controller nib (and changed it type to ActivateController), and connected it to IBOutlet ActivateController. But still, when I perform (on pressedActivate): [self.navigationController pushViewController:activateController animated:YES]; Nothing happens. I have done it successfully many times before. What might be wrong? P.S. pressedActivate is executed for sure (I used NSLog to check).

  Hi I am using string template to render some content, but the content may be variable so not sure how to pass it in (using .net / c#) Basic idea is I have a List which need to end up as parameters, e.g. List<KeyValuePair<string, object>> ret = new List<KeyValuePair<string, object>>(); ret.Add(new KeyValuePair<string, object>("elem1", true)); ret.Add(new KeyValuePair(string, object>("elem2", false)); Now I want these to show up in string template as: $item.elem1$ $item.elem2$ I can get them to be $elem1$ or $elem2$ but i need them inside of a structure. So I in effect need to convince the string template setAttribute that I'm passing in an object with properties elem1 and elem2 when in fact I have a List of KeyValuePairs. Thanks

• Repeated Scene Trees (Java3d / OpenGL)

  Hello, I want to make a 3d scene that loops around on its self. That is to say, if you keep going in any direction, you will loop back to the other side. My current implementation is so bad, it's embarrassing to admit to it. I redraw the each change twenty-seven times, to make a 3x3x3 scene cube. When the user reaches the end of the middle cube, I jump them over to the other side. Maintaining consistency (let alone performance) is a nightmare. Total Disaster. This doesn't seem like it would be an unusual request, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a more legit solution. Thanks!

• How to handle BL cache for multiple web applications?

  I recently received a project that contains multiple web applications with no MVC structure. For starters I've created a library (DLL) that will contain the main Business Logic. The problem is with Caching - If I use the current web context cache object than I might end up with duplicate caching (as the web context will be different for every application). I'm currently thinking about implementing a simple caching mechanism with a singleton pattern that will allow the different web sites (aka different application domains) to share their "caching wisdom". I'd like to know what is the best way to solve this problem.

I try to set up the user-agent like this: java.net.URLConnection c = url.openConnection(); c.setRequestProperty("User-Agent", "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2) Gecko/20100316 Firefox/3.6.2"); But the resulting user agent is the one I specify, with "Java/1.5.0_19" appended to the end. Is there a way to truly set the user agent without this addition?

  Hello, I installed Emacs 23.1.1 and Octave 3.2.3 on my computer running Vista. To make Emacs find Octave, and to make Octave's prompt what Emacs expects, I added the following to the end of my .emacs file: (setq inferior-octave-program "C:/Octave/3.2.3_gcc-4.4.0/bin/octave-3.2.3.exe") (setq inferior-octave-startup-args (list "--eval" "PS1('octave:\# ');" "--persist")) When I do M-x run-octave, I get the "wait" cursor. I can see (using procexp) that Octave starts up as a child process to Emacs, but Emacs and Octave do not talk. Any insight would be much appreciated.
