  In the footer of my page, I would like to add something like "last updated the xx/xx/200x"; with this date being the last time a certain mySQL table has been updated. What is the best way to do that ? Is there a function to retrieve the date ? Should I make an access to the database everytime my footer is displayed ?

  I am trying to create a button using jquery. I use the following code jquery('<button/>', {type:'button'}).text(name) However this works in Safari , FF IE8 but not IE7 i tried to use the attr function : jquery('<button/>').attr('type','button').text(name) this does not work either. any ideas what would work? I suppose if I don't assign a type it would default to button but i rather do that thanks for your help

• How to check if service is enabled with launchd

  I can't figure out how to check from within C/C++ if a service is enabled via launchd. I know I can use launchctl from the command line and am currently executing ' launchctl list myServiceName ' from fork/exec. I've found that boostrap_look_up() might be the way to check this but I can't find enough documentation to condense this down to a simple example. Can you shed light on this? All I need is a small function to test if my service is actually registered and available.

  PHP's str_replace() was intended only for ANSI strings and as such can mangle UTF-8 strings. However, given that it's binary-safe would it have a problem if it was only given valid UTF-8 strings as arguments? Edit: I'm not looking for a replacement function, I would just like to know if this hypothesis is correct.

  I'm using Computed Columns to provide me with the following information: Hours, Minutes, and Seconds between a Start DateTime and Finish DateTime (Where Minutes and Seconds are between 0 and 59 and Hours can be any value 0 or greater) Computed Column for Seconds: datediff(second,[Start],[Finish]) % 60 Computed Column for Minutes: floor(datediff(second,[Start],[Finish]) / 60.0) % 60 Computed Column for Hours: floor(datediff(second,[Start],[Finish]) / 3600.0) Here's the table for reference Note: I'm also calculating TotalElapsedSeconds, TotalElapsedMinutes, and TotalElapsedHours in other computed columns, but those are easy. I just feel like I might be missing out on a nice built in function in SQL.

  Want to draw an UIImageView which has an CGImage, and the UIImageView has alpha 0.5f. But this CGContextDrawImage function doesnt take an transparency value. So how could I draw an image slightly transparent? To be clear: The image itself is not transparent, but I want it to be "dimmed" a little bit. Just like you would do with an UIImageView and some alpha like 0.5f :-)
