  Dear All, Currently i am simulating my cryptographic scheme to test it. I have developed the code but i am stuck at one point. I am trying to take : g**x where g = 256 bit number x = 256 bit number Python hangs at this point, i have read alot of forums, threads etcc but only come to the conclusion that python hangs, as its hard for it to process such large numbers. any idea how can it be done? any two line piece of code, any library, anything that can be done.(ALSO PLEASE I AM A NEW PYTHON USER AND THIS IS FIRST TIME I DID PROGRAMMING IN IT, SO NO COMPLEX METHODS ...HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND :s)

User :has_many = :posts, :videos, :images etc I've got helper method, which receives one of this association draw_chart user.videos def draw_chart(assoc) assoc.each do |a| link_to "update", [a.user, a], :method => :put, :remote => true, :confirm => 'orrly?' end end Problem here is to send extra parameters to update action. For example I want to get this url: /users/1/videos/2?status=done but I am confused how to realize this while I am using [a.user, a] instead of user_videos_path(video, :status => 'done'). But I can't use last, because it can be either videos, or images or anything else

• Getting data from sharepoint into drupal

  The problem: I am about to develop a Drupal site for a company that stores a lot of data in a sharepoint environment (products, recipes etc...). I need to get that information into my Drupal system somehow. Preferably saving it as drupal nodes. That information will also be edited/added in the sharepoint system, so on top of just saving the data to drupal it will also have to check for updates on a regular basis. One idea for a solution is using some sort of web-service to retrieve data, but i have no idea of how that would be done in drupal. So my question(s) is: Has anyone done anything like this, if so how, or does anyone have any suggestions to how one would go about doing this? Any answers would be highly appreciated. /Anders

• After .load() Reset Textbox with User Entered Value using JavaScript and jQuery

  My function below calls a partial view after a user enters a filter-by string into the text box '#DocId'. When the user is done typing, the partial view is displayed with filtered data. Since my textbox needs to be in the partial view, when user is done entering a filter-by string and is shown the filtered data, the textbox is reset and the user entered data is lost. How can I set the value of the textbox back to the user entered string after the partial view is displayed?   Hi, I'm a student with a bit of experience in Java and C++ (one semester each) Currently, I'm going through K&R and working on the exercises in the book. However, I was thinking of what I could work on over the summer since I'm almost done with K&R and I will have a lot of free time soon. I really like building command line applications so I was thinking of getting involved with the coreutils project somehow. My question is, is it too early for me to be messing with coreutils? Should I be working on something a bit simpler perhaps? I'm a bit new with the Linux/Open source world if that matters but I'm really enjoying it. I've done some project euler problems and I don't really like it that much.

• What are the pros and cons of using manual list iteration vs recursion through fail

  I come up against this all the time, and I'm never sure which way to attack it. Below are two methods for processing some season facts. What I'm trying to work out is whether to use method 1 or 2, and what are the pros and cons of each, especially large amounts of facts. methodone seems wasteful since the facts are available, why bother building a list of them (especially a large list). This must have memory implications too if the list is large enough ? And it doesn't take advantage of Prolog's natural backtracking feature. methodtwo takes advantage of backtracking to do the recursion for me, and I would guess would be much more memory efficient, but is it good programming practice generally to do this? It's arguably uglier to follow, and might there be any other side effects? One problem I can see is that each time fail is called, we lose the ability to pass anything back to the calling predicate, eg. if it was methodtwo(SeasonResults), since we continually fail the predicate on purpose. So methodtwo would need to assert facts to store state. Presumably(?) method 2 would be faster as it has no (large) list processing to do? I could imagine that if I had a list, then methodone would be the way to go.. or is that always true? Might it make sense in any conditions to assert the list to facts using methodone then process them using method two? Complete madness? But then again, I read that asserting facts is a very 'expensive' business, so list handling might be the way to go, even for large lists? Any thoughts?   I am trying to extract three segments from a string. As I am not particularly good with regular expressions, I think what I have done could probably be done better... I would like to extract the bold parts of the following string: SOMETEXT: ANYTHING_HERE (Old=ANYTHING_HERE, New=ANYTHING_HERE) Some examples could be: ABC: Some_Field (Old=,New=123) ABC: Some_Field (Old=ABCde,New=1234) ABC: Some_Field (Old=Hello World,New=Bye Bye World) So the above would return the following matches: $matches[0] = 'Some_Field'; $matches[1] = ''; $matches[2] = '123'; So far I have the following code: preg_match_all('/^([a-z]*\:(\s?)+)(.+)(\s?)+\(old=(.+)\,(\s?)+new=(.+)\)/i',$string,$matches); The issue with the above is that it returns a match for each separate segment of the string. I do not know how to ensure the string is the correct format using a regular expression without catching and storing the match if that makes sense? So, my question, if not already clear, how I can retrieve just the segments that I want from the above string?

• Visual Studio (2005 & 2008) Compile Completed Alert?

  Does anyone know of any kind of plugin or alert system which will let me know when my compiles are completed? Some of the solutions I work with are gigantic and sometimes the compiles can take 5-20 minutes (depending on the PC). Thus I would like to do something else in the meantime, but I don't want to keep checking back to see if the compile is done. Is there any way to have a windows alert, or flash the screen when the compile is done? It would let me browse the internet whilst waiting for the compile to finish without worrying that its been complete and I'm just wasting time.

  Hi, i was trying to serialize an ArrayList which contacins custom objects. I`am serializing it in a servlet(server side), and deserialize at the client side. (using ObjectOutputStream,ObjectInputStream) it worked fine, when I work with ArrayList< String but when i tried it with ArrayList< MyObject i couldnt get any results in the client side, this is the exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: web.MyObject *ofcourse that i have done this: MyObject implements Serializable ... MyObject contains only String fields in it. what have I done worng? Thanks, ray.

  We are investigating the Entity Framework to see if it will meet our particular needs. Here is the scenario I am interested in: I have a large table (let's call it VeryWideRecord) which has many columns, and it has a corresponding business object (it's also called VeryWideRecord). I would like to be able to query my database for a VeryWideRecord business object, but only have values for certain columns returned by the underlying SQL. Can I do this with the Entity Framework? I am uncertain as to whether this could be done with the Entity Framework's table splitting feature, because the application needs to be able (at runtime) to change the columns that are requested. The reason for this is that we are trying to minimize the amount of information that is going across the wire. I see how this could be done using NHibernate (example), but how can I do this with the Entity Framework?

  I am trying to create something in Perl that is basically like the Unix "tee" command. I'm trying to read each line of STDIN, run a substitution on it, and print it. (And eventually, also print it to a file.) This works if I'm using console input, but if I try to pipe input to the command it doesn't do anything. Here's a simple example: print "about to loop\n"; while(<STDIN>) { s/2010/2009/; print; } print "done!\n"; I try to pipe the dir command to it like this: C:\perltestdir | mytee.pl about to loop done! Why is it not seeing the piped input?

  Working in ASP.NET (VB), I am trying to develop a simple search results page for my website. The process is as follows: (1) The site's user enters a search phrase; (2) The search results page searched the site's database, and returns the page title as a link, and a short snippet from each search "hit", with the search phrase highlighted. I already have the search part done, and also the "highlighted" part done (using Regex). However, I want to be able to return a short snippet of text, which include the search phrase (a few words before the search phrase, a few after). • Java - How to change context root of a dynamic web project in eclipse

  I have developed a dynamic web project in eclipse. Now I can access it through my browser using the following url: http://localhost:8080/MyDynamicWebApp Now I want to change the access url to http://localhost:8080/app I changed the context root from the project properties | Web Project Settings | Context Root But it is not working. The web app still has the access url as earlier. I have re-deployed the application on tomcat, re-started the tomcat and have done everything that should be done but the access url is the same as earlier. I found that there were no server.xml file attached with the WARfile. The how the tomcat is determining that the context root of my web app is /MyDynamicWebApp and is allowing me to access the application through that url

• Displaying menus on image

  Hi all, Here is what i am doing: I have a viewcontroller screen1 to which I have added long press gesture. On longPress, user will get draw menu. On selecting that menu, i am creating another uiviewcontroller class object which has a rectangle image. This instance i am adding as a subview to screen1. Now what i want is that once the image is displayed on the screen1, i want to display UImenuItems Done and cancel above the image drawn so that on tapping on done menu, the image is saved. I tried making the new viewcontroller as firstResponder after adding image to screen1 but the menus are not visible. Any one please help

• I'm getting reports that my app is draining the battery, but only on HTC Incredible.

  Has anyone else noticed behavior specific to the HTC Incredible that might result in an app keeping the device awake and busy? I've received reports that my app is responsible for keeping the device awake and draining the battery, but only from HTC Incredible users. My app responds to a number of Intents that might be related. It has a service that starts on boot, and it also responds to changes in network connectivity. I do use a WakeLock, but I'm careful to release it when I'm done processing, and the WakeLock times out after a couple minutes whether I'm done or not. I've heard that the Incredible may have some connectivity problems, or that some of them do. Could it be that the network is going up and down frequently, triggering my app? Any other ideas? I've asked a user to send me their logs with aLogCat. If they're willing, that may help narrow down the cause.

  I have some large XML files to parse and have created an object class to contain my relevant data. Unfortunately, I am unsure how to return the object for later processing. Right now I pickle my data and moments later depickle the object for access. • BASH Expression to replace beginning and ending of a string in one operation?

  Here's a simple problem that's been bugging me for some time. I often find I have a number of input files in some directory, and I want to construct output file names by replacing beginning and ending portions. For example, given this: source/foo.c source/bar.c source/foo_bar.c I often end up writing BASH expressions like: for f in source/*.c; do a="obj/${f##*/}" b="${a%.*}.obj" process "$f" "$b" done to generate the commands process "source/foo.c" "obj/foo.obj" process "source/bar.c "obj/bar.obj" process "source/foo_bar.c "obj/foo_bar.obj" The above works, but its a lot wordier than I like, and I would prefer to avoid the temporary variables. Ideally there would be some command that could replace the beginning and ends of a string in one shot, so that I could just write something like: for f in source/*.c; do process "$f" "obj/${f##*/%.*}.obj"; done Of course, the above doesn't work. Does anyone know something that will? I'm just trying to save myself some typing here.

• Is MySQL Replication Appropriate in this case?

  I have a series of databases, each of which is basically standalone. It initially seemed like I needed a replication solution, but the more I researched it, the more it felt like replication was overkill and not useful anyway. I have not done MySQL replication before, so I have been reading up on the online docs, googling, and searching SO for relevant questions, but I can't find a scenario quite like mine. Here is a brief description of my issue: The various databases almost never have a live connection to each other. They need to be able to "sync" by copying files to a thumb drive and then moving them to the proper destination. It is OK for the data to not match exactly, but they should have the same parent-child relationships. That is, if a generated key differs between databases, no big deal. But the visible data must match. Timing is not critical. Updates can be done a week later, or even a month later, as long as they are done eventually. Updates cannot be guaranteed to be in the proper order, or in any order for that matter. They will be in order from each database; just not between databases. Rather than a set of master-slave relationships, it is more like a central database (R/W) and multiple remote databases (also R/W). I won't know how many remote databases I have until they are created. And the central DB won't know that a database exists until data arrives from it. (To me, this implies I cannot use the method of giving each its own unique identity range to guarantee uniqueness in the central database.) It appears to me that the bottom line is that I don't want "replication" so much as I want "awareness". I want the central database to know what happened in the remote databases, but there is no time requirement. I want the remote databases to be aware of the central database, but they don't need to know about each other. WTH is my question? It is this: Does this scenario sound like any of the typical replication scenarios, or does it sound like I have to roll my own? Perhaps #7 above is the only one that matters, and given that requirement, out-of-the-box replication is impossible. EDIT: I realize that this question might be more suited to ServerFault. I also searched there and found no answers to my questions. And based on the replication questions I did find both on SO and SF, it seemed that the decision was 50-50 over where to put my question. Sorry if I guessed wrong.

  I am using ASP.NET MVC 3 and I am using FluentValidation to validate my view models. I am just a little concerned that I might not be on the correct track. As far as what I know, model validation should be done on the domain object. Now with MVC you might have multiple view models that are similar that needs validation. What happens if a property from a domain object occurs in more than one view model? Now you are validating the same property twice, and they might not even be in sync. So if I have a User domain object then I would like to do validation on this object. Now what happens if I have UserAViewModel and UserBViewModel, so now it is multiple validations that needs to be done. The scenario above is just an example, so please don't critise on it.
