  • On demand upload server

    I'm looking for a simple application which will do something like Allow user to sign up for an ftp account -> ask admin for approval -> create ftp account for that user now it doesn't have to be FTP, in fact I would be happy with a web based tool which supported upload via some sort of java applet or something similar. I don't care about what platform it runs on, although if we could avoid PHP that would be cool. Any ideas?

  • Is there an app or script that will extract .rar files for Mac Os X...?

    ...after it completed download that runs similiar to how zip files unextract itself when the download finishes and actually throws the zipped copy in the trash? I usually use unrax but lately with all these .rar files, the cool zip extractor is not very helpful right now. A script with automator? anything to make this easier when extracting compressed files such as .rar. Thank you. Running Mac OS X 10.6

  • Getting ajaxterm to work on Debian Lenny

    I've been knocking my head out for a while on this one and have read many tutorials, but I just can't get this to work. Ajaxterm, is a webbased SSH client; once installed apt-get install ajaxterm and then enabling it with /etc/init.d/ajaxterm start I should be able to access the SSH terminal with http://mywebsite:8022/ But doing so only gives me a "Page not found", any suggestions?   • soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 11s! error with Xen virtual machines

    Getting a kernel panic with this error on my XEN VPS's. (all on 8.04 LTS) The kernel version on my Dom-0 is 2.6.24-25-xen and the kernel version on the Xen VPS is also 2.6.24-25-xen. I read something about disabling APIC from here http://muffinresearch.co.uk/archives/2008/08/20/ubuntu-bug-soft-lockup-cpu0-stuck-for-11s/ but that doesn't seem to help as well. Anyone experienced this and are there any workarounds? Thanks in advance!

  • Disable USB powered light from command line?

    I have a nice little USB light which has no off switch, it is 'on' for the duration of being plugged in. My question is, is there a way of disabling the USB port so as to turn off the light while it is still plugged in? Preferably, this could be done from the command line, but if it's possible at all that would be really cool regardless. I use Mac and Linux, but am interested to learn if this is possible in any OS, or if physical hardware prevents usage like this.

    After finding out adding an autorun on a flash drive to change the icon to actually look like your flash drive, then after finding out that it'd work for Hard Drives too, I started to wonder if you could change your whole computer's icon so other computers on your network could actually see your physical computer.     I'm seriously considering upgrading to Windows 7 on release, especially now that the UK price for doing so is actually reasonable for once, but am worried about losing the ~600GB of TV that I have recorded. AFAIK the recording format changed from the RTM Vista code when the TV Pack (Fiji?) was introduced to OEMs a while back and it is not possible to convert existing recordings to the new format. I'm assuming that 7 builds on the TV Pack code, so will upgrading lose me all my recorded TV?

Primarily: List which files / folders the user can access on a certain network share. (Kind of a recursive "effective permissions") However, other permissions would be cool as well.     I was trying to download Oracle Database (10g and 11g). On webpage of oracle there are links, however they give me 404 when I accept OTN license and try to download. I googled around and found forum with users reporting the same issue and the workaround was to change the url of download link from download.oracle.com/... to download download-uk.oracle.com/... however this does not work either, is there any mirror that is working at the moment?

    Hi I've just build a 64bit Windows 7 PC but am unhappy with the piddly performance of the linksys USB wireless dingle I've used. Can anyone suggest a good PCIe alternative that will be stronger for connection and maybe faster. I dont see why my desktop should show a weaker performance on wireless than my laptop when its sat next to it or even my Palm Pre for that matter. any thoughts?
