• Time Machine (OSX) doesn't back up files in Mount Point or Disk Image File

  Hi all, I found this Q&A (http://superuser.com/questions/148849/backup-mounted-drive-of-an-image-in-time-machine) and this prompted me to ask the following question: I have two disk images which are scripted to be mounted on login. These two disk images are always mounted to the same location. These two disk images are encrypted TrueCrypt volumes. Time Machine (TM) will only back up the disk images the first time they are mounted, but not after that. As I modify documents within the volumes throughout the day, the modified timestamps are adjusted properly. However, TM does not back them up. TM never backs up the mount points which are two folders within my home directory. Any ideas as to why neither the mount point or the image files are backed up? Do the image files have to be closed (unmounted) after being modified for TM to back them up? Thanks, Chris

• Trouble with cross network permissions for an image through iis7 in an asp.net virtual directory

  I have load balanced web servers My web application has a function that allows the user to upload their company logo to display in the application header obviously, when they upload the logo image file, it needs to be in a central location or otherwise, the file will not be accessible to the other server on the load balancer. in order to be able to upload the image through the application other on one of either servers and then display it on both servers I need a virtual directory in IIS on both servers that point to a third "file server" (this is the "AcctData" directory shown below with a sub folder "images") the problem is that no matter what I do, I run into a permissioning issue If I use pass-through authentication I get a 401 error. If I use a specific user that's set up on both boxes, I get a 500 error. The "Default" application under "CP" (shown in the image below) uses an AppPool that is a Domain Account that has admin permissions on all the servers. I've also tried sticking a Web.config file in the "AcctData" directory allowing anonymous access. Nothing is working though.

• Partimage and autocheck problem when restoring Windows XP from image

  I'm trying to create an image of Windows XP and clone it to several partitions on the same hard drive using Partimage. I seem to be running into a problem when I restore the image onto another partition - when I boot into the OS from the partition I just restored, it brings up this message during the boot sequence: autochk program not found - skipping autocheck, and then after this, the OS reboots the PC and the whole process repeats itself in an infinite loop. After doing some Google search, it is suggested that this loop was caused by the partition being hidden or the mountmgr.sys file is missing. I checked my configuration and verified that this was not the case. I'm just wondering: Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution for it? Is this what happens when you try to restore the image to a different partition on the same hard disk or is Partimage itself the problem? Should I be trying out a different partition cloning software?

  I have a full system image using Acronis True Image Home 10 and want to run it as a virtual machine on Windows 7 Professional. I have created a virtual machine but Windows Virtual PC doesn't allow access to a USB external hard disk when booting from the Acronis Recovery CD. I've copied the backup onto the host machine and I can access it via the network using the Acronis boot CD but I'm wondering if there is an easier way? Does any other free Virtual Machine software support USB devices during boot (i.e. I can restore a backup image from the USB hard disk directly)

• Proper way to re-image Windows 7?

  I had a driver completely fail on me so I have to restore my computer from a system image backup. I used an installation DVD to run the Re-Image utility on there, but after 8 hours of "preparing the image" to be restored, it began restoring to my hard drive. After 12 hours there, it was 5-8% complete. I figured I must have done something wrong or it started doing something wrong. So I installed a fresh copy of Win-7 and ran the utility from there. It's going at the same snail's pace. I still think I must be doing something incorrectly - I don't see how it could possibly take so long, I could probably manually flip the on my hard drive and be done before that utility. Am I doing this correctly or is there something else I should be doing? Edit: In case my hardware is relevant: Win 7 64 bit Core i7 8 GB Ram 640GB Internal 1TB External connected via eSATA I had approximately 400GB of data on my computer before it crashed.

• Restoring from .wim image without access to Windows DVD

  I'm attempting to fix a friend's computer. It will not boot to anything Windows-related (see my earlier question for more information). I was able to boot into Peppermint OS to back up her files and grab the HP OEM image (.wim) so that I can restore from it (OEM W7 key, so I can't just do a W7 reinstall). However, I cannot figure out what the heck I need to do to be able to actually restore her computer to that image. I tried using these instructions on TechNet to create a WinPE flash drive, but those instructions don't actually make the flash drive bootable, so that option didn't work (the partition is labeled as active, but when trying to boot from it I get the message "Remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart."). All of the other instructions that I found require that I get into WinRE or boot from an install disk, which I cannot do. Any suggestions as to how I can apply this .wim boot image?

  I am having many image files in one folder. Mostly there are jpg, but some png, bmp, gif, tif also (but jpg is most important if others are not possible). There are also many xml files in same folder with same names as image files are having. So there is something like this: 1.jpg, 1.xml, a.png, a.xml, 3g.bmp, 3g.xml... All xml files are having only 1 line: <IMGRES WIDTH="1234" HEIGHT="567" /> (of course numbers are not same). I am looking for some easy way to check all image sizes and confirm if they are same as in xml or not. So I want output like: imagename, xmlwidth x xmlheight, realwidth x realheight, match/error Is this possible in only Windows with no other software installed?

  I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 on my Macbook Pro (Late 2009) as the only operating system, so theres's no Mac OS X oder Bootcamp installed. It runs fine and now i'd like to create an image of the current installation. Unfortunately my Acronis True Image cd doesn't boot on this device and my attempts to create an image with partimage or dd from a bootable ubuntu live cd to a external hd failed ("can't read from block 0"). Are there any others out there with such an installation and if yes: how did you succeed in imaging your partition/device?

I was trying to install the store image through WebUI. • Create a video stream from an image

  I have a network camera that is only able to give me an image, not a video stream. In my home network this image is at http://192.168.1.16/loginfree.jpg I'm able to get this image a few times per second. I would now like to be able to serve it up as a video stream so I can use it in zoneminder. Any idea as to how I do that? I've messed around with named pipes and ffmpeg's image2pipe, but I can't get it to work properly.

My Windows 7 is installed on V: and I use C:\ for taking backups. Now, my question is, is it possible to ignore taking backup of C:\ partition? I only want to get a copy of system image of V: By the way, I used to have Vista on my C:\ partition sometime ago and I formatted it recently to use the partition for taking backups.

  When I download a PDF or image in Google Chrome on my Mac, is it possible to prevent Chrome from automatically opening it in my default application for that file type (e.g., Preview)? I notice that Chrome does not do this for other downloaded files such as audio and ZIP archives. I still want to be able to preview files in Chrome; I just want to prevent it from automatically launching my image/PDF viewer application after I download them. For example: I click on a link in an email to a PDF document or an image file. Chrome displays the contents in the browser. I press Cmd-S and save the file to my computer. When the download finishes, the file opens automatically in Preview.app. It's that last step that I would like to bypass.

  I'm using the Gmail labs feature that allows me to embed images into emails. The feature works fine and when I send the email, I believe it actually does embed the image and the recipient sees it as such. But when I look in my sent box and bring up the email, instead of the embedded image, I see an icon in its place. Is this correct? Why is this like this? I want to be able to see the embedded image just like when the email was composed.

The image will be either UP or DOWN arrow (which reflects increase or decrease).   I need to switch the hard drive on a 2006 iMac to a new SSD. I don't have the original installation CDs. I know I can order CDs from Apple, but this costs money. Someone told me it's possible to rip the image of the old drive and transfer to the new drive. If so, does the size of the new drive have to be exactly the same as the old? If not, my questions are: Is it possible to "stretch" the image from 120 MB disk to a 256 MB disk (numbers are examples)? If so, what is the command line for this? Likewise, is it possible to "shrink" an image from a larger disk (eg. 256 MB) to a smaller disk (eg. 120 MB), provided that the actual space used on the disk does not exceed 120 MB? How do you do this on the command line?

When I have monitor connected to this machine, I can change the resolution of my VNC viewer in the following line: $vnc4server --geometry 1440x900 This worked for me, but I always use this machine remotely, I unplug the monitor and reboot. and the above command line not work anymore. It seems that Ubuntu must conntect to a real monitor before I can change my resolution in my VNC viewer. Can anyone help?   I'm using the jquery carousel and I have the image auto rotating here ( http://jsbin.com/unoce/2), so the issue I'm having is the content on the left is not AUTO rotating "with" the image and the arrow selection is not either. It only works when I click the content on the left and then the image on the right along with the arrow move appropriately together. Can someone provide support so I may get the text and the arrow to "auto" rotate with the image?   How do I set a background image to a JTextPane - some sort of a watermark. I tried this option - creating a child class of JTextPane and use the paint method to draw the image. But then the text is displayed "below" the image than above. Is there any "standard" or "well known" way to do this? (BTW, I tried (something silly?) making the content type "text/html", and setting the image as the background image of a <div> but it did not help.)

The value seems correct if i msgbox the value that should be used for the "ImageUrl" But viewing the page there is no image and the src is: http://portal.mxlogic.com/images/transparent.gif This is a mcaffee page so is this some security thing...that is just a wild\crazy guess. • iPhone Table View Cell Image: Working on simulator, not showing on real device

  Hi, I have a UITable View that displays an image in the left hand side of the table cell, and it works fine in the simulator. Only problem is, once I ran it on my device no images appear. At first 3 did, but then I "cleaned headers" and now none appear. Have checked that images are added to resource folder for build (which they are) and that capitals etc. match (which they do). Any ideas? Thanks.   hi, I have a UITableView which uses the following code to display an image in a Table View cell: cell.imageView.layer.masksToBounds = YES; cell.imageView.layer.cornerRadius = 5.0; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:[[color types] stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]]]; if ( image ) { cell.imageView.image = [image imageScaledToSize:CGSizeMake(50, 50)]; } It works fine on the iPhone simulator, but when I try it on a real iPhone the iPhone doesn't show. Instead in the console in debugging mode, I get this error: attempt to pop an unknown autorelease pool (0x851e00) Any help would be great, thanks.
