• Jquery JQGrid breaks when contentType=application/json?

  I've had to use $.ajaxSetup() to globally change the contentType to application/json $.ajaxSetup({ contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8" }); (See this question for why I had to use application/json http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2792603/aspnet-mvc-why-is-modelstate-isvalid-false-the-x-field-is-required-when-that) But this breaks the jquery jqrid with this error: Invalid JSON primitive: _search The POST data it is trying to send is: _search=false&nd=1274042681880&rows=20&page=1&sidx=&sord=asc Which of is not in json format, so of course it fails. Is there anyway to tell jqrid what contenttype to use? • nunit-console.exe hangs after finishing test run

  Hi We got a problem with NUnit 2.5.3: nunit-console.exe does not return after finishing all tests. The process hangs forever. Example: All tests succeed, but it keeps doing something.   I'm using SQL Server 2005, with a case sensitive database.. In a search function, I need to create a Linq To Entities (L2E) query with a "where" clause that compare several strings with the data in the database with these rules : The comparison is a "Contains" mode, not strict compare : easy as the string's Contains() method is allowed in L2E The comparison must be case insensitive : I use ToLower() on both elements to perform an insensitive comparison. All of this performs really well but I ran into the following Exception : "Argument data type ntext is invalid for argument 1 of lower function" on one of my fields. It seems that the field is a NText field and I can't perform a ToLower() on that. What could I do to be able to perform a case insensitive Contains() on that NText field ?

I keep getting invalid syntax, but I can't figure out why. When I'll start it, crash with this error: Invalid memory access of location 00000014 eip=11069523 /opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/jdk/jre/bin/java: line 2: 10323 Bus error /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.4.2/Home/bin/java -d32 -Xbootclasspath/a:/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/jdk/jre/lib/ext:/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/jdk/lib/ext $* and the error message on popup show that the problem is with libnjni10.jnilib plugin. On snow leopard there is only Java 1.6 but I've installed also JDK1.5 and I've changed the symbolic link for 1.4.2 to run the 1.5 Any idea? thanks a lot! Andrea

Edit: To be more clear, I need a way to inspect or trigger the client-side validation result of the textbox, when I click the unrelated button beside it. Edit: I now have the button JS checking for $("form").validate().invalid, but not displaying the usual validation messages. Almost there Any ideas?

  The following code throws System.UriFormatException: var uri = new UriBuilder("ftp://user:pass#[email protected]:21/fu/bar.zip"); System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: A port was expected because of there is a colon (':') present but the port could not be parsed. Removing the # symbol from the password field solves the issue. Is a # symbol a valid character to have in the password field? Is there a way to escape this? Is this a known bug in the parsing routine of the Uri class? How does one get around this - assuming you can't change the password? ;-) Thanks, Andrew

  Hi, in my current project I used a AsyncFileUpload control from AJAX Control Toolkits. After I got the async file upload part working, I needed to filter the file type so users can only upload image files.   Sorry for my inpatience but after weeks staying up late and just having put my web online, I just don't have any left energy to debug... I just can't Google how to implement JSON on IE6 & IE7... I'm using JSON.stringify(...) From what I understand JSON is not built in on IE6-7 and has to be dynamically added in in-line code... how do you do that? I already have jQuery - is it my correct understanding that their JSON engine relies on the browser native one? Then some comment on invalid JSON code that makes IE6-7 fail, but I thought it wasn't native in IE6-7? Anyone?

• Rails - MS-SQL Server problems (unixODBC, FreeTDS) on Mac 10.6

  Followed the instructions on the Rails wiki and have had success connecting to SQL Server 2000 with TSQL -- both with DSN-less and DNS connections. I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.3. Wiki instructions here. Installed ruby-odbc, dbi (0.4.0), dbd-odbc (2.4.5), activerecord-sqlserver-adapter (2.3.5). In my database.yml (Rails 2.3.6): development: adapter: sqlserver mode: ODBC dsn: 'DRIVER=/usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so;TDS_Version=8.0;SERVER=mssql01.discountasp.net;DATABASE=DB_164368_dmusd;Port=1433;uid=DB_164368_dmusd_user;pwd=Schools77;' This yields the following error: ODBC::Error: S1090 (0) [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Invalid string or buffer length When I attempt to use a DSN connection, I get the following error: ODBC::Error: IM002 (0) [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified I have in fact verified that the FreeTDS driver (libtdsodbc.so) is installed and the path correct. But shouldn't the javax.ws.rs.core.Response work as well?

I have a set of related applications that I'd like to group into a sub-application but can not figure out how to get manage.py to do this for me. Ideally I'll end up with a structure like: project/ app/ subapp1/ subapp2/ I've tried: manage.py startapp app.subapp1 manage.py startapp app/subapp1 but this tells me that / and . are invalid characters for app names I've tried changing into the app directory and running ../manage.py subapp1 but that makes supapp1 at the top level. NOTE, I'm not trying to directly make a stand-alone application. I'm trying to do all this from within a project.

• PerformanceCounters on .NET 4.0 & Windows 7

  I have a program that works fine on VS2008 and Vista, but I'm trying it on Windows 7 and VS2010 / .NET Framework 4.0 and it's not working. Ultimately the problem is that System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories() (and other PerformanceCounterCategory methods) is not working. I'm getting a System.InvalidOperationException with the message "Cannot load Counter Name data because an invalid index '' was read from the registry." I can reproduce this with the very simple program shown below: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { foreach (var pc in System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories()) { Console.WriteLine(pc.CategoryName); } } } I did make sure I'm running the program as an admin. It doesn't matter if I run it with VS/Debugger attached or not. I don't have another machine with Windows 7 or VS2010 to test it on, so I'm not sure which is complicating things here (or both?). It is Windows 7 x64 and I've tried forcing the app to run in both x32 and x64 but get the same results.

• C# Pragma to suppress break on thrown error

  First off I run my applications with exceptions thrown on any error (handled or not). Second I am using a TypeConverter to convert from a user input string to the actual object. Third TypeConverter offers no TryConvert method so I'm stuck using exceptions for validation, using this rather ugly bit of code here: try { this._newValue = null; #pragma Magic_SuppressBreakErrorThrown System.Exception this._newValue = this.Converter.ConvertFromString(this._textBox.Text); #pragma Magic_ResumeBreakErrorThrown System.Exception this.HideInvalidNotification(); } catch (Exception exception) { if (exception.InnerException is FormatException) { this.ShowInvalidNotification(this._textBox.Text); } else { throw; } } I'm finding it rather distracting to have VS break execution every-time I type the - of -1, or some other invalid character. I could use something similar to this but not all the types I'm converting to have a TryParse method either. I'm hoping there may be some way to disable breaking for the section of code within the try without changing my exception settings.

  Use VS2010 silverlight business application template to createa defaut solution. Change authentication to Windows in Web.config and the code in app.xaml.cs to use windows authentication. Nothing else changed. Then run this app from vs2010 built-in web server, it is fine, I can see the login user info from windws(from a AD domain account) display on the top-right of the screen, like DomainName\userName. Then deploy this web app to IIS on windows 7(same computer) and access this app again, I got following error: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. • How to return model state from child action handler in ASP.NET MVC

  In my blog engine, I have one controller action that displays blog content, and in that view, I call Html.RenderAction(...) to render the "CreateComment" form. When a user posts a comment, the post is handled by the comment controller (not the blog controller). If the comment data is valid, I simply return a Redirect back to the blog page's URL. If the comment data is invalid (e.g. comment body is empty), I want to return the ViewData with the error information back to the blog controller and through the blog view to the CreateComment action/view so I can display which fields are bad. I have this working fine via AJAX when Javascript is enabled, but now I'm working on the case where Javascript might be disabled. If I return a RedirecToAction or Redirect from the comment controller, the model state information is lost. Any ideas?

• Returning form errors for AJAX request in Django

  Hi Guys, I've been finding my way around Django and jQuery. I've built a basic form in Django. On clicking submit, I'm using jQuey to make an AJAX request to the sever to post my data. This bit seems to work fine and I've managed to save the data. Django returns a ValidatioError when a form is invalid. Could anyone tell me how to return this set of error messages as a response to my AJAX request so i can easily iterate through it using JS and do whatever? I found this snippet. Looking at the JS bit (processJson) you'll see that he seems to get the error messages by extracting them from the response HTML. It seems kinda kludgy to me. Is this a best way to go about it? My apologies for any vagueness. Thanks in advance.

• IPC::Open3 Fails Running Under Apache

  I have a module that uses IPC::Open3 (or IPC::Open2, both exhibit this problem) to call an external binary (bogofilter in this case) and feed it some input via the child-input filehandle, then reads the result from the child-output handle. The code works fine when run in most environments. However, the main use of this module is in a web service that runs under Apache 2.2.6. And under that environment, I get the error: Cannot fdopen STDOUT: Invalid argument This only happens when the code runs under Apache. Previously, the code constructed a horribly complex command, which included a here-document for the input, and ran it with back-ticks. THAT worked, but was very slow and prone to breaking in unique and perplexing ways. I would hate to have to revert to the old version, but I cannot crack this.
