• As good as no bounces are registered in Google Analytics [on hold]

  For a client I am having an issue for which I can't find an explanation. For some reason, bounces are no longer measured (or almost none) in GA. In GA I can see that the issue started in January 2013. I have been looking at the code inside and out, but I can't find any reason why. On the production site, there is (will be removed soon) a POST done on page load, so I thought that Google might see this as user interaction, hence never counting a bounce, but on staging i removed this POST and in the GA account for staging, still no bounces are registered. I have also checked if the tracking code appears twice on the page, and this is not the case. I tried with the GA debug plugin in Firefox and Chrome to see if that would learn me anything, but no luck... The site in question is www.kiala.be.

  I have been on many development teams and as the team matures decisions about direction are made. These decisions often come back up over and over. Like why don't we fill in this field why didn't we use memcache over a custom solutions. These decisions add up over time and become a significant part of style guides coding standards and unit tests. My question is I have never run into a good way of tracking these decisions or the discovery that went into making them. Does anyone have a best practice.

• I need to create an employee schedule/appointments program, but I don't know how to set it up

  I work for a gym. I am the programmer, its just me, nobody else! Gets really frustrating when there's nobody to bounce conceptual ideas off of. I'm getting rid of our archaic paper binder systems for tracking appointments and what not. I've made a lot of things successfully already, now I'm trying to tackle the personal training department. What I want: Trainer information and work schedule Appointment booking that can be done by time slot with all available trainers for that time, or by trainer with all available hours for that trainer What I've tried so far: I started with an 'appointments' database, a 'trainers' database, and a 'schedules' database. This became so complicated trying to fit the schedule in that I scrapped it. Does anyone know know the best way to structure the tables for this and how to sort of make them communicate correctly? I don't need specific code, I just need help understand how to make this thing!

  I created a application for a client that is along the lines of a ticket tracking system. I wanted to know if anyone know of software that could beta test the web forms. Well I am looking for something that could automatically populate/fill whatever forms are on the web page with generic data. The purpose of this is to just randomly populate data and see if I get any errors on the page when submitted plus to also see how validation for the form functions. Does anyone know of anything that could do this?

  I'm currently working on integrating the TFS source control system at my work ... I run into one small problem ... I need different version of web.config (among other config files) for different branches (due to the environment that we're releasing the web application to). (for example - i don't want to merge the web.config file all the time even though there are differences ...)   I am designing a level-based game where the user completes the level 1, then 2, 3 and so on. There are 200 levels and each is rather short: 60-ish seconds. I am tracking Each played, completed (cleared for the first time), failed and cleared level Milestones: number of players to reach level 1, 5, 10, etc. Also for number of failed and played levels. Separate new players from returning ones. However, I still find it difficult to get a clear picture of what is going on from the stats. So what are the best practices for determining where I am losing players?

  Possible Duplicate: How do you keep track of the authors of code? Here's several scenarios which may comment with owner name: bug fixing, i.e. // fixed bug 123 by xxx, solution is ... ... fixme/todo tags, i.e. // TODO: .... by xxx. hacks, i.e. // HACK! ... by xxx For case #2, please refer to Comment Tags The obvious advantage is that we can ease tracking by names. The downside is the risk of abuse. Actually my previous company allowed this way of commenting style, but current employer completely disallows names appearing in code. In my opinion, I would vote for discreetly commenting with author names. I'm open to hear from you if this commenting style is good or bad. Thanks.

  I love programming methods, and functions. The if {}, while {}, etc... logic behind them is so much fun. I also love making commits, merging branches, solving merge conflicts. Unfortunately these activities usually require that I create classes which I find tedious and monotonous. The simple action of defining properties, is getting in the way of me writing the logic on what to do with those properties. I can't be alone here there has to be a part of coding for everyone that they dread or at least severely dislike doing compared to other parts of coding. How do you deal with the code based tasks that you find tedious?

• How to hide assets from user? ( e.g.: a png file )

  I think the title is quite self-explaining, still this is a big area I think, so let me drop a few words: I've got a simple experiment game project going, and I want to make sure, that the user isn't messing with the game assets like player skin etc. In my opinion the best way would be that on production I would merge all the assets into one file and the application would check the hash of that file, so it could detect the corrupted data. Is this an acceptable practice? There must be sum libraries / applications which are targeting this problem, could you guide me on this? Project details: unix/linux, c++, sdl

  We use Jira/Greenhopper for our project planning/tracking. The built-in graphs are great, but when a new issue/story is added during a project, the whole burn-down graph moves up rather than increasing the part of the graph when the issue was added. Ideally I'd like to generate a Mike Cohn-style burndown graph, which shows a hump when new issues are added. Does anyone know of any plugins that support this, or been able to extract this data directly from the database?

Currently is taking hours for ~5000 files when running it using a proxy server even if the proxy server has the files pre-cached.   Hi All. Suppose I've got multiple lucene indexes (not replicas) on several PC's. I query each index and then merge the results. Is there any way to normalize the document scores so that I could sort by score (relevance)? I mean, the scores for document A from index A would not be comparable with document B from index B, unless I do some sort of normalization.... not so? Thanks Roey
