• Can I have nginx put stuff on memcached?

  It is my understanding that nginx can query memcached for data that it serves, but you have to place them there using some other (homegrown) program. So the question is, can I have nginx fetch data from the backend and place them into memcached for future use for certain locations? Sort of not having to place all files from /images in it "by hand" but having them (mem)cached after being fetched for the first time? Any backend other than memcached would suffice also.

• Is there a way to suppress keyboard sounds picked up by a desktop microphone in Windows 7?

  The problem I'd like to solve is that my desktop microphone picks up all my keystrokes very loudly compared with my voice. Even just lightly tapping a key without depressing it causes a loud click to be picked up. I'd like a way to filter out this type of sound, while picking up voice normally. Is there any software input equalizer/filter that could do this? Or alternatively, some sort of hardware hack?

• Advanced Outlook 2007 sorting - by flagged for follow (but not followed up on) then by date

  Currently my outlook is sorting by follow up first, then by date, but when I have followed up (clicked the flag to become a check mark) it stays above new unread mail. Can I have mail that's followed up on not sort above new mail while retaining the flagged for follow ups at the very top?

  Can Outlook 2003 sort by received and then subject so that I can always see the newest mail first? So if it's 5:30pm now and I get mail at 5:31, it shows at the top. then if I get mail at 5:35 and it is a response to an existing subject, can it show next at the top of my inbox with all related conversations/subjects with it. Gmail can do this and this is what I'm looking for an Outlook.

• Solution to tack things up on top or to the side of a monitor

  I'm trying to find some sort of product that would either go on the top or the side of an lcd monitor and give me space to tape/push-pin/post it note things for myself. For random notes and things I want to keep track of, having them on the top/side of my monitor would keep the space on my desk itself clear, and they would be closer to my field of vision. Could anyone recommend a toolbox intended for this sort of thing, or some other good method for storage? I have a two drawer wide file that I currently use, with large plastic bags. • Sharing svn reposities between web servers

  I have my subversion hosting set up to be accessed through Apache web server. Everything runs fine. Now I'd like to add another web server to distribute the load between two web servers. Is it save to have my svn repositories accessed by two web servers at the same time? Does the normal fsfs subversion repository type protect me enough or do I need to switch to Berkely DB for this sort of thing?

• Raspberry Pi can't see external hard drive

  My Raspberry Pi (Model B) can't see my external hard drive. It was working before without a problem, until I disconnected and reconnected the drive. It is a self-powered hard drive. When I put another image on a different SD card the Raspberry Pi can see the hard drive no problem, so there is some sort of configuration issue in the current image on the SD card. Any advice will be gratefully received.

  Similar to Concurrent FTP access. How is concurrent file access handled for NFS? Say that one client is updating/overwriting a file on a NFS server, and a process on the server is reading that same file directly from the file system at the same time. Is there some sort of atomic handling of file read/write in NFS/Linux or do I have to work with tmp files to ensure data consistency? I'm worried that the process reading the file will get corrupt data.

  I've been working on getting my snort machine up and running, and working through Snort IDS and IPS Toolkit. The authors suggest using Oinkmaster, but on that website, the last update was February of 2008. That seems sort of...odd. Maybe there haven't been any issues with oinkmaster in the past year and a half, but it made me wonder if there was another solution that I don't know about.   so apparently, you can't use VirtualBox etc with Windows Home 7. because you would be using two licenses instead of one. So other users that tried virtualization with Windows Home Premium 7, did you just end up using another OS like Ubuntu etc? Did you find a workaround for using Windows?
