  So, Notepad++ got updated to v6.0. One of their new features is PCRE (Perl Compatible Regular Expressions). I tried to use this new feature to find and replace things in a file. I tried the regular expression: {\$([a-zA-Z_]*)} and it yelled at me, saying "Invalid regular expression". I tested this regex in other programs (like my main IDE, Geany), and it worked fine. Why does this not work in Notepad++ 6.0?

• Dotted Border turns to solid if object is animated with jQuery.

  I have a simple setup: an image and then a paragraph with a bit of info that is hidden and then slides up over the image on mouse hover. If I try to apply a border-top that is dashed or dotted onto the paragraph it simply turns into a solid line. Is this a known issue with a fix? Everything works fine, but when its paused, i wold like that current object to be 'on top' so other items run behind. • Edit Contact code worked in 1.6 but doesn't work on Droid 2.1?

  Hi All, I had some fairly simple code in my app to invoke Edit Contact activity on a known good contact index that worked in Android 1.6 but is broken for me now in Android 2.1 on the Droid.   Hi guys. I'm creating a page that searches for an item and then be able to edit/update it. I was able to do it when it returns just one result but when it gives me multiple results I could only edit the very last item. • Performing full screen grab in windows

  I am working an idea that involves getting a full capture of the screen including windows and apps, analyzing it, and then drawing items back onto the screen, as an overlay. I want to learn image processing techniques and I could get lots of data to work with if I can directly access the Windows screen. I could use this to build automation tools the likes of which have never been seen before. More on that later. I have full screen capture working for the most part. HWND hwind = GetDesktopWindow(); HDC hdc = GetDC(hwind); int resx = GetSystemMetrics(SM_CXSCREEN); int resy = GetSystemMetrics(SM_CYSCREEN); int BitsPerPixel = GetDeviceCaps(hdc,BITSPIXEL); HDC hdc2 = CreateCompatibleDC(hdc); BITMAPINFO info; info.bmiHeader.biSize = sizeof(BITMAPINFOHEADER); info.bmiHeader.biWidth = resx; info.bmiHeader.biHeight = resy; info.bmiHeader.biPlanes = 1; info.bmiHeader.biBitCount = BitsPerPixel; info.bmiHeader.biCompression = BI_RGB; void *data; hbitmap = CreateDIBSection(hdc2,&info,DIB_RGB_COLORS,(void**)&data,0,0); SelectObject(hdc2,hbitmap); Once this is done, I can call this repeatedly: BitBlt(hdc2,0,0,resx,resy,hdc,0,0,SRCCOPY); The cleanup code (I have no idea if this is correct): DeleteObject(hbitmap); ReleaseDC(hwind,hdc); if (hdc2) { DeleteDC(hdc2); } Every time BitBlt is called it grabs the screen and saves it in memory I can access thru data. Performance is somewhat satisfactory. BitBlt executes in 50 milliseconds (sometimes as low as 33ms) at 1920x1200x32. What surprises me is that when I switch display mode to 16 bit, 1920x1200x16, either through my graphics settings beforehand, or by using ChangeDisplaySettings, I get a massively improved screen grab time between 1ms and 2ms, which cannot be explained by the factor of two reduction in bit-depth. Using CreateDIBSection (as above) offers a significant speed up when in 16-bit mode, compared to if I set up with CreateCompatibleBitmap (6-7ms/f). Does anybody know why dropping to 16bit causes such a speed increase? Is there any hope for me to grab 32bit at such speeds? if not for the color depth, but for not forcing a change of screen buffer modes and the awful flickering.

  I'm refactoring a website using MVC. What was a set of huge pages with javascript, php, html etc etc is becoming a series of controllers and views. I'm trying to do it in a modular way so views are split in 'modules' that I can reuse in other pages when needed eg. "view/searchform displays only one div with the searchform "view/display_events displays a list of events and so on. One of the old pages was supposed to load a google map with a marker on it. I've read about window.onload but don't know what's the correct syntax for that. please keep in mind that other parts of the page include other js functions (eg, google adsense) that are called after the footer.

• Make mod_wsgi use python2.7.2 instead of python2.6?

  i am running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS and it came pre-packed with python2.6 but i need to replace it with python2.7.2. (The reason is simple, 2.7 has a lot of features backported from 3 ) i had installed python2.7.2 using ./configure make make altinstall the altinstall option installed it, without touching the system default version, to /usr/local/lib/python2.7 and placed the interpreter in /usr/local/bin/python2.7 Then to help mod_wsgi find python2.7 i added the following to /etc/apache2/sites-available/wsgisite WSGIPythonHome /usr/local i start apache and run a test wsgi app BUT i am greeted by python 2.6.5 and not Python2.7 Later i replaced the default python simlink to point to python 2.7 ln -f /usr/local/bin/python2.7 /usr/bin/python Now typing 'python' on the console opens python2.7 but somehow mod_wsgi still picks up python2.6 Next i tried, PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH export PATH then do a quick restart apache, but yet again its python2.6 !! How can I copy the full directory structure, but only include files named data.zip and info.txt (all other files should be ignored)? • Log into file or database, readability question

Right now I'm logging some info of the user in my web app in a log file to observe the usage & interest for some services, but I'm interested in checking that info in a readeable way, so I'm questioning if maybe I shall save that info in a database and then retrieve it to show it in tables or whatever. It's better to log in the database for my purposes? Or logging like now I could select/order the info of the log easily?

• How to configure a MInimal Ubuntu installation?

  I recently re installed Ubuntu using the mini.iso, but much to my dismay the mini.iso is not configured the same way as the Ubuntu desktop ISO some "problems" I'm facing such as: An Installation using the regular Ubuntu CD recognizes my active network connections in Network Manager, Installing with the mini.iso gives me a working connection however no connections are "active" in Network Manager displaying the message "The system network services are not compatible with this version." In a regular Ubuntu install connecting an Android phone to the PC mounts the phone's internal memory and sd card if present, Using the mini.iso the phone is detected as it appears with the command lsusb but it's not mounted and can't be mounted. In the same regards using the phone to tether it's connection to the PC via USB, the phone is connected to my (wifi) IN the regular Ubuntu install the phone is recognized as a networking device and is used as connection usb0, while in the mini.iso nothing happens, and trying to add the connection to /etc/network/interfaces results in the OS crashing. Just to make sure It wasn't a matter of my user not having the correct permissions or a lack of "groups", I've checked with an Ubuntu VM and the groups are the same, the networking files are the same, and the packages (except those of ubuntu-desktop such as Unity, Firefox, LibreOffice, and other non-essential software) are Installed in my PC, so what else is there to look for?. I'm sure I'm missing something, and I'd prefer not to install Ubuntu again, using the regular cd. How can I manage to get the same behaviour/configuration without reinstalling ?

  I had to remove some file headers in a bigger project which were all of the form #region File Header /*[ Compilation unit ----------------------------------------------------------       Name            : Class1.cs       Language        : C#     Creation Date   :      Description     : -----------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ /*] END */ #endregion I know that would be a cool thing to write a simple C# program use a recursive file search, read all lines skip the first n lines and write the files back to disc. But I wanted to test things first before I ruin my source files with one little typo. There comes the Visual Studio Search and Replace in Files dialog into the game. I can test my regular expression to do a multiline match with the Find button before actually breaking anything. And if something goes wrong I have the Undo button.   There is a nice blog post from Paulo Morgado online who deals with Multiline Regular expressions. The Visual Studio Regular expressions are non standard so you have to adapt your usual Regex know how to the other patterns. The pattern I cam finally up with is \#region File Header:b*(.*\n)@\#endregion The Regular expression can be read as \#region File Header Match “#region File Header” \# Escapes the # character since it is a quantifier. :b* After this none or more spaces or tabs can follow (:b stands for space or tab) (.*\n)@ Match anything across lines in a non greedy way (the @ character makes it non greedy) to prevent matching too much until the #endregion somewhere in our source file. \#endregion Match everything until “#endregion” is found I had always knew that Visual Studio can do it but I never bothered to learn the non standard Regex syntax. This is powerful and it is inside Visual Studio since 2005!

The problem I have is that at one point the program reads two different values and returns the first one twice.
