  • How to calculate the correct height for an auto-expanding textbox in Silverlight?

    In my Silverlight app I want a multi-line text box to expand every time the user hits Enter. The difficult part is how to calculate the correct height based on the number of text lines. I have tried the following but the textbox becomes too small: box.Height = box.FontSize*lineCount + box.Padding.Top + box.Padding.Bottom + box.BorderThickness.Top + box.BorderThickness.Bottom; What am I missing here? Or maybe it can be done automatically somehow? Thanks, Jacob Edit: I suspect the problem to be in the FontSize property (does it use another size unit?)

  • possible to auto zoom out if user's resolution < x ?

    my site is aimed purely at the laptop market (dont ask why or argue!), all my users (or 95%+) we on a screen width of 1200+, netbooks are now taking off, with a resolution of 1024 wide. my site still looks great on a netbook if you zoom out once (ctrl-minus), but i don't want to rely on users knowing about ctrl-minus. what are my options besides redesign? I'm keen not to have zoom buttons on my page. is there a javascript zoomer outer?!!!

Why do I need this: I have a load balancer with "sticky sessions", configured to route requests with the same JSESSIONID to the same server, and I want to prevent situation, when same user can start two different sessions on different servers.

  • Ajax Auto Complete in ASP.Net MVC project - How to display a an object's name but actually save it's

    I have implemented the Ajax Autocomplete feature in my application using a web service file that querys my database and it works great. One problem I am having is allowing the user to see the item's name, as that's what they are typing in the textbox, but when they select it, it saves the item's ID number instead of the actual name. I want it to behave much like a dropdown list, where I can specify what is seen and entered vs. what is actually saved in the database (in this case, the product ID instead of it's name.)   • Indesign and XML - how to auto flow into multiple pages with differing styles?

    Hi guys, I've got a bit of a problem at the moment. I'm trying to work with indesign (cs3) and xml. Basically i have a template which is has 1 master dps, both pages have the same data (fields 1-5) but one is left aligned, one right - hence mildly different paragraph styles. What i want to be able to do is import xml and have indesign flow the data from the individual nodes into many pages. eg xml format: root day field1 field2 field3 field4 field5 day field1 field2 field3 field4 field5 day ... I can almost make this work by tagging the frames on the master pages, then creating pages and importing the xml, however it only flows the first 2 nodes into the pages reptitively for the total count of all the nodes. I can also almost make it work by creating a page from the untagged masters and then tagging the frames with the field1-5 tags then importing the xml. This populates the first page, however i then can't find a way to make the rest of the data flow into new pages... Am I missing something? Am I being a complete dumbass? If anyone can offer any help it will be greatly appreciated...

I want to have the topic/queue to be automatically created at best, or at least to have a standard way to define it, per application (say, in ejb-jar/META-INF) this question and this blogpost show us how to do it in an application server specific way.   • Can I force Perl Devel::Cover to generate a coverage report if I killed the build testcover process

    If I am able to start up Devel::Cover successfully and it starts to collect data in the cover_db directory, can I then kill the process and then after the fact get Devel::Cover or some other utility to process those binary Devel::Cover run files and structure files into the HTML coverage report? To ask the question another way ... Can I use Devel::Cover to get a coverage report for a process that I am unable to stop, other than by killing the process?     I am trying to find out if there is a more optimal way for creating a list of an object's sub object's properties. (Apologies for the crude wording, I am not really much of an OO expert) I have an object "event" that has a collection of "artists", each artist having an "artist_name". On my HTML output, I want a plain list of artist names delimited by a comma. PHP's implode() seems to be the best way to create a comma delimited list of values. I am currently iterating through the object and push values in a temporary array "artistlist" so I can use implode(). That is the shortest I could come up with.   • Android: Any way to auto-pair to another device over Bluetooth without prompting for a pin?

    I am looking for a way to connect to Android devices via Bluetooth without user intervention(assuming at least on device is set to "Discoverable"). Since 2.0, it seems the devices prompt for a random pin to be entered when connecting to each other for the first time. I've tried some Bluetooth projects, but none seem to work as the underlying Bluetooth Adapter code always kicks in. Is there any way around this? Thanks.

    I want two horizontal areas in my webpage. The first one is the menu. It's on the top. Unfortunately I don't know its size, and it might change in response to user actions. Below the menu is the main area which should stretch at least as far as the bottom of the window (if there is little content) or beyond (if there is a lot of content. Added: To put things in perspective and avoid confusion, think of it this way: the top menu is generated by myself, but the bottom area is an IFrame which I want to fill the rest of the page.   • I need to generate credit card surrogates (tokens) that are format preserving.

    For an eCommerce application I need to take a credit card and use the real card for passing through to a payment gateway but I need to store, and return to the transaction initiator, a surrogate that is format preserving. Specifically, this means: 1) The number of digits in the surrogate is the same as the real card number (PAN). 2) The issuer type part of the card -- the initial 1,2 or 4 digits remains the same in the surrogate as in the original PAN. 3) The final 4 digits of the surrogate remain the same (for customer service purposes.) 4) The surrogate passes the Luhn mod10 check for a syntactially valid credit card. I can readily handle requirements 1-3 but #4 has me completely stumped! The final implementation will be either t-sql or c#. Any ideas?
