  • C# average function for large numbers without overflow exception

    - by Ron Klein
    .NET Framework 3.5. I'm trying to calculate the average of some pretty large numbers. For instance: using System; using System.Linq; class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var items = new long[] { long.MaxValue - 100, long.MaxValue - 200, long.MaxValue - 300 }; try { var avg = items.Average(); Console.WriteLine(avg); } catch (OverflowException ex) { Console.WriteLine("can't calculate that!"); } Console.ReadLine(); } } Obviously, the mathematical result is 9223372036854775607 (long.MaxValue - 200), but I get an exception there. This is because the implementation (on my machine) to the Average extension method, as inspected by .NET Reflector is: public static double Average(this IEnumerable<long> source) { if (source == null) { throw Error.ArgumentNull("source"); } long num = 0L; long num2 = 0L; foreach (long num3 in source) { num += num3; num2 += 1L; } if (num2 <= 0L) { throw Error.NoElements(); } return (((double) num) / ((double) num2)); } I know I can use a BigInt library (yes, I know that it is included in .NET Framework 4.0, but I'm tied to 3.5). But I still wonder if there's a pretty straight forward implementation of calculating the average of integers without an external library. Do you happen to know about such implementation? Thanks!!

  • How do I use XML prefixes in C#?

    - by Andrew Mock
    EDIT: I have now published my app: http://pastebin.com/PYAxaTHU I was trying to make console-based application that returns my temperature. using System; using System.Xml; namespace GetTemp { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); doc.LoadXml(downloadWebPage( "http://www.andrewmock.com/uploads/example.xml" )); XmlNamespaceManager man = new XmlNamespaceManager(doc.NameTable); man.AddNamespace("aws", "www.aws.com/aws"); XmlNode weather = doc.SelectSingleNode("aws:weather", man); Console.WriteLine(weather.InnerText); Console.ReadKey(false); } } } Here is the sample XML: <aws:weather xmlns:aws="http://www.aws.com/aws"> <aws:api version="2.0"/> <aws:WebURL>http://weather.weatherbug.com/WA/Kenmore-weather.html?ZCode=Z5546&Units=0&stat=BOTHL</aws:WebURL> <aws:InputLocationURL>http://weather.weatherbug.com/WA/Kenmore-weather.html?ZCode=Z5546&Units=0</aws:InputLocationURL> <aws:station requestedID="BOTHL" id="BOTHL" name="Moorlands ES" city="Kenmore" state=" WA" zipcode="98028" country="USA" latitude="47.7383346557617" longitude="-122.230278015137"/> <aws:current-condition icon="http://deskwx.weatherbug.com/images/Forecast/icons/cond024.gif">Mostly Cloudy</aws:current-condition> <aws:temp units="&deg;F">40.2</aws:temp> <aws:rain-today units=""">0</aws:rain-today> <aws:wind-speed units="mph">0</aws:wind-speed> <aws:wind-direction>WNW</aws:wind-direction> <aws:gust-speed units="mph">5</aws:gust-speed> <aws:gust-direction>NW</aws:gust-direction> </aws:weather> I'm just not sure how to use XML prefixes correctly here.   • dotRAS Disconnected State not triggered

    - by JD
    Can someone give me a heads up... I'm trying to use the dotRAS .NET control, and this code to change the value of internetConnected (boolean) using an event handler... But it seems that the state RasConnectionState.Disconnected is not triggered by dotRAS hangup().. Any ideas? Am I doing it totally wrong... or have I managed to find a bug? public class USBModem { // private vars private RasDialer dialer = new RasDialer(); private bool internetConnected = false; /// <summary> /// Default constructor for USBModem /// </summary> public USBModem() { // Add Events for dialer dialer.StateChanged += new EventHandler<StateChangedEventArgs>(dialer_StateChanged); } void dialer_StateChanged(object sender, StateChangedEventArgs e) { // Handle state changes here switch (e.State) { case RasConnectionState.Connected: internetConnected = true; Console.WriteLine(e.State.ToString()); break; case RasConnectionState.Disconnected: internetConnected = false; Console.WriteLine(e.State.ToString()); break; default: Console.WriteLine("INFO -> Unhandled state: " + e.State.ToString()); break; } } public void ConnectInternet(string connectionName) { // Dial dialer.PhoneBookPath = RasPhoneBook.GetPhoneBookPath(RasPhoneBookType.AllUsers); dialer.EntryName = connectionName; dialer.DialAsync(); } public void DisconnectInternet() { foreach (RasConnection connection in dialer.GetActiveConnections()) { connection.HangUp(); } } }

  • Calculating pi using infinite series in C#

    - by Jonathan Chan
    Hi! I tried to write the following program in C# to calculate pi using infinite recursion, but I keep getting confused about integer/double/decimal division. I really have no clue why this isn't working, so pardon me for my lack of understanding of strongly typed stuff, as I'm still learning C#. Thanks in advance! using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Program { public static int Main(string[] args) { int numeratornext = 2; int denominatornext = 5; decimal findto = 100.0M; decimal pi = 0.0M; decimal halfpi = 1.0M; int seriesnum = 1; int seriesden = 3; for (int i = 0; i < findto; i++) { halfpi += Decimal.Divide((decimal)seriesnum, (decimal)seriesden); //System.Console.WriteLine(Decimal.Divide((decimal)seriesnum, (decimal)seriesden).ToString()); seriesnum *= numeratornext; seriesden *= denominatornext; numeratornext++; denominatornext += 2; } pi = halfpi * 2; System.Console.WriteLine(pi.ToString()); System.Console.ReadLine(); return 0; } } }

  • Downloading attachments from Exchange with WebDAV

    Hi there! I've been trying to retrive attachment from message in Exchange server using WebDAV.I don't know which version of Exchange the company is running. I'can successfully read messages and retrive list of attachments. However I am failing to save attachments. In both cases errors is: "The remote server returned an error: <403 Forbidden. • jquery ajax call from link loaded with ajax

    - by Jay
    //deep linking $("document").ready(function(){ contM = $('#main-content'); contS = $('#second-content'); $(contM).hide(); $(contM).addClass('hidden'); $(contS).hide(); $(contS).addClass('hidden'); function loadURL(URL) { //console.log("loadURL: " + URL); $.ajax({ url: URL, type: "POST", dataType: 'html', data: {post_loader: 1}, success: function(data){ $(contM).html(data); $(contM).animW(); } }); } // Event handlers $.address.init(function(event) { //console.log("init: " + $('[rel=address:' + event.value + ']').attr('href')); }).change(function(event) { $.ajax({ url: $('[rel=address:' + event.value + ']').attr('href'), type: "POST", dataType: 'html', data: {post_loader: 1}, success: function(data){ $(contM).html(data); $(contM).animW(); }}); //console.log("change"); }) $('.update-main a').live('click', function(){ loadURL($(this).attr('href')); }); $(".update-second a").live('click', function() { var link = $(this); $.ajax({ url: link.attr("href"), dataType: 'html', data: {post_loader: 1}, success: function(data){ $(contS).html(data); $(contS).animW(); }}); }); }); I'm using jquery and the 'addresses' plugin to load content with ajax and maintain pagination. The problem I'm having is some content loads with links which are intended to load content into a secondary window. I'm using the .live() method to allow jquery to listen for new links loaded into the primary content div. This works until the .ajax() method is called for these fresh links loaded with ajax, where the method begins, but follows the original link before data can be received. I'm assuming the problem is in the client-side scripting, but it may be a problem with the call made to the server. I'm using the wordpress loop to parse the url and generate the html loaded via jquery. Thanks for any tips!

I also changed the question's title to avoid additional confusion. Thanks all!!

  • Linker errors using LuaJava on OSX 10.5

    Hi, I'm having a bunch of problems getting this library to work on my OSX installation. In particular, I'd like to use it with a Java 1.6 VM but after I compile it up I get the following: java -cp "luajava-1.1.jar" org.keplerproject.luajava.Console Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /Users/dharabor/src/luajava- 1.1/libluajava-1.1.jnilib: at java.lang.ClassLoader$NativeLibrary.load(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary0(ClassLoader.java:1822) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1739) at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:823) at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:1030) at org.keplerproject.luajava.LuaState.<clinit>(LuaState.java:92) at org.keplerproject.luajava.LuaStateFactory.newLuaState(LuaStateFactory.java:59) at org.keplerproject.luajava.Console.main(Console.java:49) I'm running OSX 10.5.8 with Lua 5.1.4 I've also changed my OSX default VM to 1.6.0 as so: /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Home -> Versions/1.6.0/Home/ /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current -> 1.6.0/ /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/CurrentJDK -> 1.6.0/ What am I doing wrong? I notice when I use Java 1.5 everything works great. Except I don't want 1.5, I want 1.6.

  • Still confused about JavaScript's 'this'.

    - by Nick Lowman
    I've been reading through quite a few articles on the 'this' keyword when using JavaScript objects and I'm still somewhat confused. I'm quite happy writing object orientated Javascript and I get around the 'this' issue by referring the full object path but I don't like the fact I still find 'this' confusing. I found a good answer here which helped me but I'm still not 100% sure. So, onto the example. The following script is linked from test.html with <script src="js/test.js"></script> if (!nick) { var nick = {}; } nick.lowman = function(){ var helloA = 'Hello A'; console.log('1.',this, this.helloA); var init = function(){ var helloB = 'Hello B'; console.log('2.',this, this.helloB); } return { init: init } }(); nick.lowman.init(); What kind of expected to see was 1. Object {} nick.lowman, 'Hello A' 2. Object {} init, 'Hello B' But what I get is this? 1. Window test.html, undefined 2. Object {} init, undefined I think I understand some of what's happening there but I would mind if someone out there explains it to me. Also, I'm not entirely sure why the first 'console.log' is being called at all? If I remove the call to the init function //nick.lowman.init() firebug still outputs 1. Window test.html, undefined. Why is that? Why does nick.lowman() get called by the window object when the html page loads? Many thanks

  • Using HttpClient with the RightScale API

    - by Ameer Deen
    I'm trying to use the WCF Rest Starter Kit with the RightScale's Login API which seems fairly simple to use. Edit - Here's a blog entry I wrote on using Powershell to consume the API. Edit - Created a generic .NET wrapper for the RightScale API - NRightAPI It's exactly as simple as it looks while using CURL. In order for me to obtain a login cookie all I need to do is: curl -v -c rightcookie -u username:password "https://my.rightscale.com/api/acct/accountid/login?api_version=1.0" And I receive the following cookie: HTTP/1.1 204 No Content Date: Fri, 25 Dec 2009 12:29:24 GMT Server: Mongrel 1.1.3 Status: 204 No Content X-Runtime: 0.06121 Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 0 Cache-Control: no-cache Added cookie _session_id="488a8d9493579b9473fbcfb94b3a7b8e5e3" for domain my.rightscale.com, path /, expire 0 Set-Cookie: _session_id=488a8d9493579b9473fbcfb94b3a7b8e5e3; path=/; secure Vary: Accept-Encoding However, when I use the following C# code: HttpClient http = new HttpClient("https://my.rightscale.com/api/accountid/login?api_version=1.0"); http.TransportSettings.UseDefaultCredentials = false; http.TransportSettings.MaximumAutomaticRedirections = 0; http.TransportSettings.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "password"); Console.WriteLine(http.Get().Content.ReadAsString()); Instead of a HTTP 204, I get a redirect: You are being <a> href="https://my.rightscale.com/dashboard"redirected <a> How do I get the WCF REST starter kit working with the RighScale API ?

  • VB.NET error: Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provider is not registered [RESOLVED]

    - by Azim
    I have a Visual Studio 2008 solution with two projects (a Word-Template project and a VB.Net console application for testing). Both projects reference a database project which opens a connection to an MS-Access 2007 database file and have references to System.Data.OleDb. In the database project I have a function which retrieves a data table as follows private class AdminDatabase ' stores the connection string which is set in the New() method dim strAdminConnection as string public sub New() ... adminName = dlgopen.FileName conAdminDB = New OleDbConnection conAdminDB.ConnectionString = "Data Source='" + adminName + "';" + _ "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" ' store the connection string in strAdminConnection strAdminConnection = conAdminDB.ConnectionString.ToString() My.Settings.SetUserOverride("AdminConnectionString", strAdminConnection) ... End Sub ' retrieves data from the database Public Function getDataTable(ByVal sqlStatement As String) As DataTable Dim ds As New DataSet Dim dt As New DataTable Dim da As New OleDbDataAdapter Dim localCon As New OleDbConnection localCon.ConnectionString = strAdminConnection Using localCon Dim command As OleDbCommand = localCon.CreateCommand() command.CommandText = sqlStatement localCon.Open() da.SelectCommand = command da.Fill(dt) getDataTable = dt End Using End Function End Class When I call this function from my Word 2007 Template project everything works fine; no errors. But when I run it from the console application it throws the following exception ex = {"The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine."} Both projects have the same reference and the console application did work when I first wrote it (a while ago) but now it has stopped work. I must be missing something but I don't know what. Any ideas? Thanks Azim

  • JSON/PrototypeJS - why does this only work SOMETIMES?

    - by koko
    This is driving me nuts! I'm getting some JSON from my server: {"id262":{"done":null,"status":null,"verfall":null,"id":262,"bid":20044,"art":"owner","uid":"demo02","aktion":null,"termin_datum":null,"docid":null,"gruppenid":null,"news":"newsstring","datum":"11.06.2010","header":"headerstring","for_uid":"demo01"}, "id263":{"done":null,"status":"pending","verfall":null,"bid":20044,"id":263,"uid":"demo02","art":"foo","aktion":"dosomething","termin_datum":"11.06.2010","docid":null,"gruppenid":null,"datum":"11.06.2010","news":"newsstring","for_uid":"demo01","header":"headerstring"}, "id261":{"done":null,"status":null,"verfall":null,"id":261,"bid":20044,"art":"termin","uid":"demo02","aktion":null,"termin_datum":"25.06.2010","docid":null,"gruppenid":null,"news":"newsstring","datum":"11.06.2010","header":"headerstring","for_uid":null}} This is how my JS looks like: var user = 'demo02'; new Ajax.Request('myscript.pl?someparameter=value', { method:'get', onSuccess: function(transport){ var db_json = transport.responseText.evalJSON(), propCount = 0, someArray1 = [], someArray2 = [], otherArray = []; //JSON DEBUG console.log('validated string:'); console.log(transport.responseText.evalJSON(true)); for(var prop in db_json) { propCount++; if ( (db_json[prop].art == 'foo') && (db_json[prop].for_uid == user) ) { someArray1.push(db_json[prop]); } else if( (db_json[prop].art == 'foo') && (db_json[prop].uid == user) ) { someArray2.push(db_json[prop]); } else if( db_json[prop].art == 'log' ) { otherArray.push(db_json[prop]); } } if(someArray1.length>0) { someArray1.map(function(el){ $('someArray1target').innerHTML += el.done; //do more stuff }); } if(someArray2.length>0) { someArray2.map(function(el){ $('someArray2target').innerHTML += el.done; //do more stuff }); } }); Sometimes, it works perfectly. Sometimes, i get my JSON String (it appears in Firebug's "answer"-tab), but it won't log the JSON in console-log(). I'm not getting any errors and javascript is still working. Next time after reloading, it might work, but it might not. I cannot remotely imagine why this only happens sometimes!

  • Linq to SQL not inserting data onto the DB

    - by Jesus Rodriguez
    Hello! I have a little / weird behaviour here and Im looking over internet and SO and I didn't find a response. I have to admit that this is my first time using databases, I know how to use them with SQL but never used it actually. Anyway, I have a problem with my app inserting data, I just created a very simple project for testing that and no solution yet. I have an example database with Sql Server Id - int (identity primary key) Name - nchar(10) (not null) The table is called "Person", simple as pie. I have this: static void Main(string[] args) { var db = new ExampleDBDataContext {Log = Console.Out}; var jesus = new Person {Name = "Jesus"}; db.Persons.InsertOnSubmit(jesus); db.SubmitChanges(); var query = from person in db.Persons select person; foreach (var p in query) { Console.WriteLine(p.Name); } } As you can see, nothing extrange. It show Jesus in the console. But if you see the table data, there is no data, just empty. I comment the object creation and insertion and the foreach doesn't print a thing (normal, there is no data in the database) The weird thing is that I created a row in the database manually and the Id was 2 and no 1 (Was the linq really playing with the database but it didn't create the row?) There is the log: INSERT INTO [dbo].Person VALUES (@p0) SELECT CONVERT(Int,SCOPE_IDENTITY()) AS [value] -- @p0: Input NChar (Size = 10; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [Jesus] -- Context: SqlProvider(Sql2005) Model: AttributedMetaModel Build: 3.5.30729.4926 SELECT [t0].[Id], [t0].[Name] FROM [dbo].[Person] AS [t0] -- Context: SqlProvider(Sql2005) Model: AttributedMetaModel Build: 3.5.30729.4926 I am really confused, All the blogs / books use this kind of snippet to insert an element to a database. Thank you for helping.

  • ActiveMq NMS Disconnects after about 30 seconds

    - by Kelly
    'm trying to do simple pub/sub with ActiveMq. I can get it all working fine, but the subscriber disconnects after about 30 seconds. I've looked for a timeout type of value I can change but nothing seems to be working. Here is the subscriber: using System; using Apache.NMS; using Apache.NMS.ActiveMQ; using Apache.NMS.ActiveMQ.Commands; namespace ActiveMQCatcher { internal class Program { private static void Main(string[] args) { IConnectionFactory factory = new ConnectionFactory("tcp://localhost:61616/"); using (IConnection connection = factory.CreateConnection()) { connection.ClientId = "MYID"; connection.Start(); using (ISession session = connection.CreateSession()) { IMessageConsumer consumer = session.CreateConsumer(new ActiveMQTopic("MYTOPIC"), null, false); consumer.Listener += consumer_Listener; Console.ReadLine(); } connection.Stop(); } } private static void consumer_Listener(IMessage message) { Console.WriteLine("Got: " + ((ITextMessage) message).Text); } } } I tried this: connection.RequestTimeout = TimeSpan.MaxValue; But it didn't seem to change anything. To get the problem just run the program and sit waiting for about 30 seconds. You can see the connection disappear in the ActiveMQ Console (http://localhost:8161/admin/connections.jsp by default) Any ideas?

  • Average function without overflow exception

    - by Ron Klein
    .NET Framework 3.5. I'm trying to calculate the average of some pretty large numbers. For instance: using System; using System.Linq; class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var items = new long[] { long.MinValue + 100, long.MinValue + 200, long.MinValue + 300 }; try { var avg = items.Average(); Console.WriteLine(avg); } catch (OverflowException ex) { Console.WriteLine("can't calculate that!"); } Console.ReadLine(); } } Obviously, the mathematical result is 9223372036854775607 (long.MaxValue - 200), but I get an exception there. Thanks!! UPDATE: The previous example, of three large integers, was just an example to illustrate the overflow issue. The question is about calculating an average of any set of numbers which might sum to a large number that exceeds the type's max value. Sorry about this confusion. I also changed the question's title to avoid additional confusion. Thanks all!!

  • In NHIbernate, why does SaveOrUpdate() update the Version, but SaveOrUpdateCopy() doesn't?

    - by Daniel T.
    I have a versioned entity, and this is what happens when I use SaveOrUpdate() vs. SaveOrUpdateCopy(): // create new entity var entity = new Entity{ Id = Guid.Empty }); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 0 // save the new entity GetNewSession(); entity.SaveOrUpdate(); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 1 GetNewSession(); // loads the persistent entity into the session, so we have to use // SaveOrUpdateCopy() to merge the following transient entity var dbEntity = Database.GetAll<Entity>(); // new, transient entity used to update the persistent entity in the session var newEntity = new Entity{ Id = Guid.Empty }); newEntity.SaveOrUpdateCopy(); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 1, but should be 2 Why is the version number is not updated for SaveOrUpdateCopy()? As I understand it, the transient entity is merged with the persistent entity. The SQL calls confirm that the data is updated. At this point, shouldn't newEntity become persistent, and the version number incremented?

    Hi, I am using the jquery validation plugin and want to use the errorPlacement function to add error messages to the fields title attribute and display just a ? next to the field. This works great when the form is submitted with the submit button but when any of the following events are triggered: - onfocusout - click - onkeyup The validation checks are run but it skips the errorPlacement function and adds the full error message after the field, like the default behaviour. I am using the following code: $("#send-mail").validate({ debug: true, // set this class to error-labels to indicate valid fields success: function(label) { // set text as tick label.html("&#10004;").addClass("valid"); }, // the errorPlacement has to take the table layout into account errorPlacement: function(error, element) { console.log("errorPlacement called for "+element.attr("name")+" field"); // check for blank/success error if(error.text() == "") { // remove field title/error message from element element.attr("title", ""); console.log("error check passed"); } else { // get error message var message = error.text(); // set as element title element.attr("title", message); // clear error html and add cross glyph error.html("&#10008;"); console.log("error check failed: "+message); } // add error label after form element error.insertAfter(element); }, ignoreTitle: true, errorClass: "invalid" });

  • C# Textbox validation should only accept integer values, but allows letters as well

    - by sonny5
    if (textBox1.Text != "") // this forces user to enter something { // next line is supposed to allow only 0-9 to be entered but should block all... // ...characters and should block a backspace and a decimal point from being entered.... // ...but it is also allowing characters to be typed in textBox1 if(!IsNumberInRange(KeyCode,48,57) && KeyCode!=8 && KeyCode!=46) // 46 is a "." { e.Handled=true; } else { e.Handled=false; } if (KeyCode == 13) // enter key { TBI1 = System.Convert.ToInt32(var1); // converts to an int Console.WriteLine("TBI1 (var1 INT)= {0}", var1); Console.WriteLine("TBI1= {0}", TBI1); } if (KeyCode == 46) { MessageBox.Show("Only digits...no dots please!"); e.Handled = !char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) && !char.IsControl(e.KeyChar); } } else { Console.WriteLine("Cannot be empty!"); } // If I remove the outer if statement and skip checking for an empty string, then // it prevents letters from being entered in the textbox. I need to do both, prevent an // empty textbox AND prevent letters from being entered. // thanks, Sonny5

Any suggestions?

  • Receiving broadcast messages

    - by Prasad
    Hi, I'm trying to receive broadcast messages using C# code in an ISDN network with BRI interface at my end. I see the packets sent to the broadcast ip address (239.255.255.255) on some ports using Comm View tool. But when I try to listen to this IP address, it says the address is not in a valid context. But when I send broadcast messages to 255.255.255.255 on a port, I can receive those messages with the below code.. What could be the problem with this ip address - 239.255.255.255 ? The code I use to listen to broadcast messages is.. UdpClient udp = new UdpClient(); IPEndPoint receiveEndPoint = new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, 8013); // If I use IPAddress.Parse("239.255.255.255") to listen to, // it says "the address is not in a valid // context." udp.Client.Bind(receiveEndPoint); udp.BeginReceive(_Callback, udp); static private void _Callback(IAsyncResult iar) { try { UdpClient client = (UdpClient)iar.AsyncState; client.BeginReceive(_Callback, client); IPEndPoint ipRemote = new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, 8013); byte[] rgb = client.EndReceive(iar, ref ipRemote); Console.WriteLine("Received {0} bytes: \"{1}\"", rgb.Length.ToString(), Encoding.UTF8.GetString(rgb)); } catch (ObjectDisposedException) { Console.WriteLine("closing listening socket"); } catch (Exception exc) { Console.WriteLine("Listening socket error: \"" + exc.Message + "\""); } } There are packets sent to the broadcast ipaddress (239.255.255.255) which I can see in Commview tool, but can't receive them from the code... Can anybody help me out please? Thanking you in advance, Prasad Kancharla.

  • Using jQuery, setting Draggable on an element prevents blur from firing when you click the draggable

    - by Danno
    Using jQuery, when you set a blur event on a text box and set another element as draggable, when you click the draggable element, the blur event does not fire in FireFox. IE is a little better, you get the blur event but you don't get the click event on the draggable element. If you don't specify the cancel: "" in the draggable constructor, you will get the blur event to fire, but then the element you want to drag is not draggable. jQuery v1.3.2 jQuery UI v1.7.2 The console.log lines are for FireFox's FireBug plugin. <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Blur/Click Workbench</TITLE> <script src="js/jquery.js" type="text/javascript" ></script> <script src="js/ui/ui.core.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="js/ui/ui.draggable.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function blurring() { console.log('1 - blurring - ' + $( this ).attr('id')); } function clicking() { console.log('2 - clicking - ' + $( this ).attr('id')); } $(document).ready(function() { $( ".draggableTool" ).draggable( { cancel: "" } ); $( '.property' ).blur( blurring ); $( '#labelContainer' ).click( clicking ); }); </script> </HEAD> <BODY> <input type='text' class='property' id='tb1' /> <br /> <input type='text' class='property' id='tb2' /> <br /> <label class='draggableTool' id='labelContainer' style='height:20px;position:absolute;'> <textarea id='taLabel' style='height:100%;background-color:white;border:1px solid grey;'>Label</textarea> </label> </BODY> </HTML>

  • RegistryKey ValueCount/SubKeyCount wrong

    - by Mark J Miller
    I am trying to query the following registry key values: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\SharedMemoryOn HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\SuperSocketNetLib\ProtocolOrder But depending on which machine I'm running the program the query returns null. When I debug on my local machine and I inspect the value for ValueCount for: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\SuperSocketNetLib The count is 0 and OpenSubKey returns null. I am a domain admin, in the local administrators group and have added the following to my app.manifest: <requestedExecutionLevel level="requireAdministrator" uiAccess="false" /> Any idea why? private static void ValidateSqlClientSettings() { Console.WriteLine("\r\n/////////////// LOCAL SQL CLIENT PROTOCOLS ////////////////"); RegistryKey keyHKLM = Registry.LocalMachine; ///TODO: nullreferenceexception - connect to remote machine and find out why RegistryKey sqlClientKey = keyHKLM.OpenSubKey(@"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client"); if (sqlClientKey == null) { WriteLine2Console(@"WARNING: unable to read registry key '{0}\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client'", ConsoleColor.Yellow); } var cliKeyNames = from k in sqlClientKey.GetSubKeyNames() where k == "SuperSocketNetLib" select k; ///TODO: find out why these values are always missing (even if I can see them in regedit) Console.Write("Shared Memory Disabled (cliconfg): "); if (Convert.ToBoolean(sqlClientKey.GetValue("SharedMemoryOn"))) WriteLine2Console("FAILED", ConsoleColor.Red); else if(sqlClientKey.GetValue("SharedMemoryOn") == null) WriteLine2Console(String.Format("WARNING - unable to read '{0}\\SharedMemoryOn'", sqlClientKey.Name), ConsoleColor.Yellow); else WriteLine2Console("PASS", ConsoleColor.Green); Console.Write("Client Protocol Order (cliconfg - tcp first): "); foreach (string cliKey in cliKeyNames) { RegistryKey subKey = sqlClientKey.OpenSubKey(cliKey); object order = subKey.GetValue("ProtocolOrder"); if (order != null && order.ToString().StartsWith("tcp") == false) { WriteLine2Console("FAILED", ConsoleColor.Red); } else if (order == null) { WriteLine2Console(String.Format("WARNING - unable to read '{0}\\ProtocolOrder'", subKey.Name), ConsoleColor.Yellow); } else { WriteLine2Console("PASS", ConsoleColor.Green); } subKey.Close(); } sqlClientKey.Close(); keyHKLM.Close(); }

  • log4net from embedded xml?

    - by sanjeev40084
    i have two projects in visual studio. One is the console project while other is regular c# project. In the regular c# project, i have added config file(i.e. Test.config) with log4net section. This file is embedded. <configSections> <section name="log4net" type="log4net.Config.Log4NetConfigurationSectionHandler, log4net" /> </configSections> <log4net> <appender name="fileAppender" type="log4net.Appender.RollingFileAppender"> <file value="log//testapp.log" /> <appendToFile value="true" /> <rollingStyle value="Size" /> <maxSizeRollBackups value="10" /> <maximumFileSize value="100MB" /> <staticLogFileName value="true" /> <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout,log4net"> <param name="ConversionPattern" value="%d{ISO8601} [%t] [%-5p] %c - %m%n" /> </layout> </appender> <!-- Setup the root category, add the appenders and set the default priority --> <root> <priority value="ALL" /> <appender-ref ref="fileAppender" /> </root> </log4net> Now in my console project, i want to tell my log4net to load log4net information from (Test.config) which is in another project. This is what i did in the constructor of console project: Assembly asm = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); Stream xmlStream = asm.GetManifestResourceStream("Northwind.Participant.Config.Test.config"); ILog log = LogManager.GetLogger(typeof(ConsoleStart)); 'Northwind.Participant is full namespace. Config - folder where Test.config file is situated. Does anyone know how i can do that?
