I have a request to change the collation of a MS SQL Database: ALTER DATABASE solarwind95 collate SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS but I get this strange error: Meldung 5075, Ebene 16, Status 1, Zeile 1 Das 'Spalte'-Objekt 'CustomPollerAssignment.PollerID' ist von 'Datenbanksortierung' abhängig. I do not know how to switch the language to english, but here is a translation: Translation: Message 5075, Layer 16, Status 1, Row 1 The 'column' object 'CustomPollerAssignment.PollerID' depends on 'Database sorting. The database sorting cannot be changed if a schema bound object depends on it. Remove the dependency of the database sortieren and retry. I got a ton more of the errors like that.

Change connection on the fly

Hello, I have a SQL server with 50 databases. Each one has the exact same schema. I used the awesome Subsonic 2.2 create the DAL based on one of them. I need to loop though a list of database names and connect to each one and perform an update one at a time. If there a way to alter how subsonic uses the connection string. I believe I would need to store the connection string in memory that way it can keep changing. Is this possible? I tried doing a ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["theConnStrName"].ConnectionString = updated-connection-string-here; .. but that did not work thanks!

Matching First Alphanumeric Character skipping (The |An? )

I have a list of artists, albums and tracks that I want to sort using the first letter of their respective name. The issue arrives when I want to ignore "The ", "A ", "An " and other various non-alphanumeric characters (Talking to you "Weird Al" Yankovic and [dialog]). Django has a nice start '^(An?|The) +' but I want to ignore those and a few others of my choice. I am doing this in Django, using a MySQL db with utf8_bin collation. EDIT Well my fault for not mentioning this but the database I am accessing is pretty much ready only. It's created and maintained by Amarok and I can't alter it without a whole mess of issues. That being said the artist table has The Chemical Brothers listed as The Chemical Brothers so I think I am stuck here. It probably will be slow but that's not so much of a concern for me as it's a personal project.

Suggestions for a very easy to edit CMS?

I need advice/suggestions. At my place of work - we have a large data set. We would like to server the data up as editable html pages. (Its mostly lists of simple text) We would like to add data, change it's order, update text etc...from the editable pages. It has to have a pretty low bar for usability and WYSIWYG is a must. The folks who will edit are not programmers by a long shot. We are not sure Wiki will work. It might have to do - but not sure. Changes have to be tracked and written back into the DB I am thinking some kind of open source CMS might work? Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal - something that can get us up and running pretty quickly. I really am open to suggestions - not sure where to begin on this one. Thanks all

In my database I have an id column defined as [autonumber] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL which is mapped in my .hbm.xml like: <id name="Id" column="autonumber" type="int"> <generator class="identity" /> </id> When calling session.Save() updates are successful committed to the database. When adding a versioning trigger I however get the error this id generator generates Int64, Int32, Int16 of type IdentifierGenerationException. SQL Server 2005 drop column with constraints

Hi ! In Sql Server 2005 I have a column with a "DEFAULT" constraint. I'd like to create a script that drops that column. The problem is that is returns me that error : Msg 5074, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The object 'DF__PeriodSce__IsClo__4BCC3ABA' is dependent on column 'IsClosed'. Msg 4922, Level 16, State 9, Line 1 ALTER TABLE DROP COLUMN IsClosed failed because one or more objects access this column. I couldn't find an easy way to drop a column and all its associated constraints (only found big scripts that look into system table... there MUST (!!) be a "nice" way to do that !). And as the DEFAULT constraint's name has been randomly generated, I can't drop it by name. Thanks for your help.

Any good GUI tool to easily create stored procs SQL server 2008 ?

The templates for stored-procs in SSMS do not auto-populate all input columns, again there is manual work involved. I am looking for something like right-click on table and say CREATE stored-proc, and then it allows to pick a template, based on which it can populate the parameters etc. and give check-box in GUI (like table designer, you can easily add/remove a column). Some support for change management with table undergoing alter or otherwise would also be helpful. Currently we manually write all stored-procs, which i think we should be able to save time and labor with automation. Any suggestion on other free 3rd party tools ?

jquery load php file - result is not complete

I'm trying to load or better reload a DIV with content from an included php file. so the file is included in the webadmin.php from the location webadmin/pages.php. Then i alter some data in the DB through serializing. Now I would like to reload the pages.php from the callback of the serialize POST with load();. This all works fine up until the moment the data is supposed to be displayed in the div - i believe its because the php file is loaded from a different location, so the include paths for the DB Connection etc are probably wrong... Should I really write an extra PHP File for jquery or is there a way to tell jquery where to load it from? Its the first time I'm doing this - so bear with me for a moment on this one... Thanks! Youtube python: get thumbnail

Is there a simple way to get the default thumbnail from a youtube entry object gdata.youtube.YouTubeVideoEntry? I tried entry.media.thumbnail, but that gives me four thumbnail objects. Can I always trust that there are four? Can I know which is the default thumbnail that would also appears on the youtube search page? And how would I get that one? Or do I have to alter one of the other ones? When I know the video_id I use: http://i4.ytimg.com/vi/{{video_id}}/default.jpg so, it would also be helpful to get the video_id. Do I really have to parse one of the url's to get at the video_id ? It seems strange that they don't provide this information directly.

How to Practically Split Values from CSV File into MySQL Database

Let's suppose I have the following line in a CSV file (I removed the header row in this example): "500,000",2,50,2,90000 I have a PHP script read the CSV file, break the file into individual lines, and store each line in an array called $linearray. Then, I use a foreach loop to look at each line individually. Within the foreach loop, I break the line into separate variables using the following function: $line = str_replace("'","\'",$line); From here, I insert the values into separate columns within a MySQL database. The script works. The values are inserted into a database, but I run into a problem. I want: "500,000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 But I get this: "500 | 000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 The script isn't smart enough to understand it should skip commas within quotation marks. Do you know how I can alter my script to make sure I get the output I'm looking for? Thanks.

I am attempting to drop and recreate a database from my CI setup. But I'm finding it difficult to automate the dropping and creation of the database, which is to be expected given the complexities of the db being in use. Sometimes the process hangs, errors out with "db is currently in use" or just takes too long. I don't care if the db is in use, I want to kill it and create it again. Does some one have a straight shot method to do this? alternatively does anyone have experience dropping all objects in the db instead of dropping the db itself? I have an NSArray, with objects ordered like so: a b c d e f I would like to enumerate through this array in this order: c d e f a b i.e. starting at some point that is not the beginning, but hitting all the items. I imagine this is a matter of sorting first and then enumerating the array, but I'm not sure if that's the best technique... or, frankly, how to sort the array like this. Edit Adding details: These will be relatively small arrays, varying from 3 to 10 objects. No concurrent access. I'd like to permanently alter the sort order of the array each time I do this operation.

I can code in PHP (for example, write a module for Drupal) but never used any PHP framework for any project. PHP e-commerce site talking to internal database for stock / ordering?

I'm working on an e-commerce site (either bespoke with PHP, or using Drupal/Ubercart), and I'd like to investigate the site interacting with an internal (filemaker) database we use to manage stock and orders. Currently we manually transfer orders from the web site to our own database, and the site does not check or record changes in stock. My plan to allow the 2 to interact is as follows: Make the internal database available externaly on a machine with a fixed IP Allow external access from the site only Connect to the internal database using ODBC (or similar) Use simple queries to check stock / record stock changes / record order details Am I missing something here as this sounds quite straight forward? Is there another solution I should be taking a look at? Thanks in advance for any help or comments.

slow php command line performance - is this normal or do I have an install problem?

I have a simple PHP app that prints 'hello world'. When I run it from the command line it takes 6 seconds. Is this normal? It seems to take 1 seconds before "hello world" prints, then 5 seconds after. I assume this is overhead of the interpreter. I am running PHP version 5.2.12 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Could this be an install issue, or is it typical? I did a manual install of PHP then added whatever components were needed to run Drupal. The only PHP addon I remember adding was MDB2, CGI support is there too. I am used to a Lua project I run from the command line, hundreds of lines of code that will run in under a second. I have some unit tests I run from the command line, and already with just a few they are very slow. I run them from Netbeans and the tests are still very slow.

Hi guys, What would be considered the best practice in duplicating [cloning] a LINQ to SQL entity resulting in a new record in the database? The context is that I wish to make a duplicate function for records in a grid of an admin. website and after trying a few things and the obvious, read data, alter ID=0, change name, submitChanges(), and hitting an exception, lol. Creating a foreign key in MySQL produces error:

I'm trying to create a foreign key on a table in MySQL and I'm getting a strange error that there seems to be little info about in any of my searches. I'm creating the key with this (emitted from mysql workbench 5.2): ALTER TABLE `db`.`appointment` ADD CONSTRAINT `FK_appointment_CancellationID` FOREIGN KEY (`CancellationID` ) REFERENCES `db`.`appointment_cancellation` (`ID` ) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION , ADD INDEX `FK_appointment_CancellationID` (`CancellationID` ASC) ; at which point I get the error: ERROR 1452: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (alarmtekcore., CONSTRAINT FK_lead_appointment_CancellationID FOREIGN KEY (CancellationID) REFERENCES lead_appointment_cancellation (`) I've checked here but there's no data in the table.

Visual C++ 2010 solution-wide macros with parameters

I'm trying to compile some source code with Visual C++ 2010 Express. The code was written for GCC, and contains attributes like this: struct something { ... } __attribute__((packed)); Since this is not standard C++ syntax, Visual C++ doesn't recognize it. With this macro prior to the struct declaration, it works fine: #define __attribute__(p) But I don't want to alter the files. I created a new property sheet (GccCompat), and went to Preprocessor Definitions, and added the macro, like this: __attribute__(p) or like this: __attribute__(p)= But it doesn't work. It's simply not called. If I define just __attribute__ (without parameters) in the same location, the macro is correctly defined. Note that the command line that is generated looks fine (the macros with parameters are passed exactly the same as the ones without), but the compiler seems to ignore it. So, how can I globally define my macro with a parameter?

Content pulled in via jQuery AJAX is not associating with previous functions

I'm using the jquery .load() function to pull in data to populate a div with. The content I'm pulling in has CSS selectors that should match up with jQuery click functions I've written. However, when I load in the data, although the correct CSS selectors are there, when I click on areas that should invoke a response from jQuery, nothing happens. Do I need to do some sort of reload?
