• Firebug and jQuery selectors in an iFrame

  Hi all, I'm working on a web application and using the jQuery plug-in Colorbox to pop up a window that presents a form for editing elements of the parent window. I'm using Firebug to debug my Javascript and jQuery, and I noticed that I can't select an element in my Colorbox HTML form using the jQuery console command line. For instance: $date = $("#date"); returns nothing when run from the jQuery console command line, even though I have an input element with id="date" and the Firebug "element inspect" pointer can find the element in the iFrame. Is there a way to get Firebug's console to access the elements in an iFrame? Thanks for your help! Doug

  Greeting, I'm using jquery Plugins/Validation library. • jQuery slideToggle flicker in Firefox

  I have a specific situation with slideToggle that creates a flicker in Firefox. The situation was when the expanding element goes longer than the page and a vertical scrollbar appears in Firefox. If you scroll down to read all of the text in the expanding element and then click on the trigger to close the element, Firefox would flash for a second and then the page readjusts and returns to its position before the expanded element was expanded. I have tried adding ‘return false;’ to no avail. • xml schema and using a choice as the document root

  I have a bit of a newbie xml schema question. I believe the answer is that what I need to do is not possible with schema, but I'd like to be sure. The problem is that I have a webservice that returns a response with one type of root element on success (say <Response), and on a complete failure, returns a document with a different root element (say, <Exception). So, basically, two completely different documents: <Response......</Response OR <Exception....</Exception Is it possible to describe these two different documents with one schema document? It's like I want a choice as the first element under the schema element -- but that isn't valid syntax. I've tried a couple of variants that parse as valid xsd, but don't validate the documents. Any suggestions? Or is this simply not possible? Thanks very much in advance -- m

  Hi All, I'm not sure this is possible, but is there a syntax to be used in CSS when you want to style an element based on the combination of classes applied to it? I understand that I can check an element with jQuery or something and change it's style based on the classes it has, but is there a pure CSS way to do this? For example, if I have a class for bold and green: .bold_green { color:green; font-weight:bold; } And a class for bold and blue: .bold_blue { color:green; font-weight:bold. } Now, say I am using jQuery to add and remove classes dynamically and want any element that has both classes to turn italic pink. Something like: .bold_green AND .bold_blue { color:pink; font-style:italic; } Or, if I want to style an element that has aclass, and is a descendant of another element that has another class? Does somebody know a quick way to do it? with C#? I have been trying this but is not working at all... • jQuery not and classes

  Hi Guys, I have 2 anchor links (a.selector) and when one is clicked it has a class applied to it of 'active-arrow' and the click also removes the class of the same name from the other anchor as well as lowering the opacity to 0.2. I then want to have a fade effect when the user hovers over the anchor that doesn't have 'active-arrow' applied to it so that it goes to full opacity when mouseenters and back to 0.2 when mouseleaves. The problem im having is that both .not and :not don't seem to be working as expected, the hover effect works but if I click on the anchor whilst hovering the 'active-arrow' class is applied but when mouseleaves the opacity is faded down to 0.2 again even though the 'active-arrow' class is applied. Also the hover then doesn't work for the other a link which has had 'active-arrow' removed. Bit of a hard one to explain so heres some code that hopefully helps a bit. *//If a.selector doesn't have the class 'active-arrow' then run the hoverFade function* $("a.selector").not(".active-arrow").hoverFade(); //Functions for first element $('a.selector-1').click(function () { $('a.selector-2').removeClass('active-arrow'); //Remove background image from corresponding element $('ul#storage-items-2').fadeOut(1200).addClass('hide'); //Fade out then hide corresponding list $(this).addClass('active-arrow', 'fast'); //Add background image to current element $('ul#storage-items-1').removeClass('hide').fadeIn(1800); //Unhide and fade in the list $('a.selector-2').fadeTo(500, 0.2); //Fade corresponding element $(this).fadeTo(800, 1);//Fade this element to full opacity }); I only included the code for teh first anchor (a.selector-1) as the code for the second anchor is identical but just changes the class names to a.selector-2. At the moment, I don't think it will be easy to change the schema since this was decided between vendors and I would not want to go this route (if possible) as it will slow down progress quite a bit. I searched and have found this page, is the external customization what I want to do? I have been mostly working with the generated classes so I'm not entirely familiar with the process that generates these classes. A simple example of the "property customization" would be great! Alternative method of generating the Java classes would be fine as long as the schema can still be used.

  Once a programmer decides to implement IXmlSerializable, what are the rules and best practices for implementing it? I've heard that GetSchema() should return null and ReadXml should move to the next element before returning. Are these true? And what about WriteXml: should it write a root element for the object or is it assumed that the root is already written? How should child objects be treated and written. Here's a sample of what I have now. • like exec command in silverlight(save and load properties of Elements dynamically)

  i have some element in my container and want to save all properties of this elements. i list this element by VisualTreeHelper and save its attributes in DB, question is that how to retrieve this properties and affect them? i think that The Silverlight have some statement that behave like Exec in Sql-Server. i save properties in one line that delimited by semicolon.(if you have any suggestion ,appreciate) Edit: suppose this scenario: End-User choose a tool from Mytoolbox(a container like Grid) ,a dialog shown its properties for creation and finally draw Grid . in resumption he/she choose one element(like Button) and drop it on one of the grid's cell. now i want to save workspace that he/she created! My RootLayout have one container control so any of element are child of this.HERETOFORE i want create one string that contain all general properties(not all of them) and save to DB, and when i load this control, i create an element by the type that i saved and affect it by the properties that i saved; with something like EXEC command. is this possible ? have you new approach for this scenario(Guide me with example please).

  This MSDN article proves the correctness of Reservoir Sampling algorithm as follows: Base case is trivial. For the k+1st case, the probability a given element i with position <= k is in R is s/k. The probability i is replaced is the probability k+1st element is chosen multiplied by i being chosen to be replaced, which is: s/(k+1) * 1/s = 1/(k+1), and prob that i is not replaced is k/k+1. So any given element's probability of lasting after k+1 rounds is: (chosen in k steps, and not removed in k steps) = s/k * k/(k+1), which is s/(k+1). So, when k+1 = n, any element is present with probability s/n. about step 3: What are the k+1 rounds mentioned? What is chosen in k steps, and not removed in k steps? Why are we only calculating this probability for elements that were already in R after the first s steps?

• Use any CSS compiler (Sass, Less) to generate the selector

  So I've recently been playing around with CSS compilers, but I have no idea how (or if it's possible) to dynamically generate pieces of a selector. For instance, let's say I wanted to make mixins to get display: inline-block; to work cross browser. I would have to do the styles, yeah, but I would have to do the IE6/7 selector hacks to get them to work in those browsers too. Ideally I'm looking for a one off thing to add to an element and have the ability for that to work. Some kind person recently gave me this solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2746754/css-compilers-and-converting-ie-hacks-to-conditional-css/2747036#2747036 and it would be nice to implement that in a minimal way that would allow me to specify it for a given element and be on my way (for instance in Less, you can create a class with styles, pass that class to another element, and that element will inherit all of those styles. It would be nice to pass an element .inline-block; and it create the styles needed to support IE6/7 without having to resort to stuff like _color: pink; Any ideas? EDIT: for instance as well, how could I do something like clearfix for LESS? (lesscss.org)? If Sass can only do it then that will work too.

• Parsing XML using xml.etree.cElementTree

  I have the following XML in a string named 'xml': <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <Book> <Page> <Text>Blah</Text> </Page> </Book> I'm trying to get the value Blah out of it but I'm having trouble with xml.etree.cElementTree. I've tried the find() and findtext() methods but nothing. Eventually I did this: import xml.etree.cElementTree as ET ... root = ET.fromstring(xml) element = root.getchildren()[0].getchildren()[0] Element now equals the element, which is what I want (for this solution anyway), but how do I get the inner text from it? element.text does not work. Any ideas? PS: I am using Python 2.5 atm. As an extra question: what is a better way to parse xml strings in python?

• How to CompareTo two Object without known about their real type

  I have to implement a one linked list but it should put object in appropriate position. Everything was OK when I use it in conjunction with specific class, but when I tried make it universal and argument of method insert was Object some problem appeared. When I want to input Object in right position I should use CompareTo method, but there isn't method in Object class! The problem is how to compare two object elements without known about their real types. Maybe I should use generic class type? But what about CompareTo? Or maybe combine with Element class and place CompareTo there?
