  On Vista systems, I've been using these instructions to relocate the "Offline Files Cache" from its default location of c:\csc. Works great. However, these instructions do not work on Windows 7. There is small discussion about the issue going on on TechNet but nobody yet has a solution. The problem is that the Migration Wizard has changed in Windows 7 and no longer provides a mechanism for doing this.

• Are there any scripts to synchronize sites?

  I've just set up a fail-over DNS to switch the site to a second host if the first is down. This is great for showing an old / archived version of the site, but I suspect maintenance is going to be a real pain. I moved the files over with rsync in the first place. Is this the kinda thing that could be run as a cron job, automatically moving over newer files?

• Launchctl: how can I configure a service to stop restarting automatically until next reboot?

  I have several services set up in launchctl and they all start at boot and restart automatically whenever they stop for any reason. That's great so far. But sometimes I want one of the services to quit and not restart for a while. Is there a recommended way to do that apart from removing the service from launchctl (which also stops it immediately, which I don't want to do)?

In the past I have used the WRT54G series from Linksys with great success as access points and bridges. The WRT610N looks nice but I'm not sure how well the community firmwares support it. • Consolidated queue for video on demand?

  It's great having lots of video on demand options, but actually choosing something to watch is turning into a mess - I have to jump from one website or application to another. I'd like to have a single queue where I can add and prioritize movies and TV I want to watch from any source: iTunes purchases, iTunes rentals, Netflix on demand, Amazon video on demand, Hulu, etc. I'd like the consolidated queue to be accessible from Front Row on my Mac Mini. Does such a thing exist?

• Connecting to internet via phone on Linux

  I have a Sony Ericsson C702 phone with a flat fee internet subscription (GPRS/UMTS). I'd like to connect my Linux (Kubuntu 9.04) laptop to internet via this phone, using bluetooth (I also have a cable connection but that's propietary, doubt it'll work). How can I do this, preferably via GUI / NetworkManager / the BT applet that comes with KDE? In Windows I use SE's PC suite software which works great, but is not available for Linux.

I don't really have a great mousing surface, so I'd like to use something like a trackpad or trackball. Does anyone have any recommendations? The keyboard doesn't have to be Mac specific.   I just ran a clean install of windows 7 this morning, installed all the latest updates, and I'm now trying to install Office Ultimate 2007 that I purchased last year from the Office Ultimate Steal. It was running fine under windows xp, but when I try to run the installer in windows 7, I get an error message that says: The installation of this package failed I have tried the following: Running the installer as administrator Running the installer under windows xp (SP3) compatability Mode Re downloading the installer (I have it saved to my dropbox account, I can't redownload it from Microsoft) Any help that you can provide would be great!

• Does the DisplayPort on the Dell UltraSharp U2311H Monitor work with a MacBook Pro?

  I'm thinking of getting the Dell UltraSharp U2311H monitor which apparently comes with a DisplayPort. (I used the word "apparently" because I find DisplayPort support a little bit too good to be true, coming from Dell. But great news nonetheless if it's really true) I plan to connect it to a Mac Book Pro (2010) via a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. Has anyone tried this setup? Does it work? Thanks.

However, the article uses shell32.dll and a icon location to do so. I have found an image map detailing the icons location in shell32.dll in Windows XP but was wondering if anyone knew of something similar for Windows 7.

  So I've enabled PHP on my Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), and it's working great so long as: 1) I place the file in the ~/Sites directory 2) I use the http://localhost/~user/example.php URL instead of the file:///Users/user/Sites/example.php I presume this is because unless both of those conditions are true, Apache is not involved, and thus neither is PHP. So is there any way to remove either of those conditions? (Well, really the latter, because the first is a symptom of the second)

  I'm working on a new server built with Unbuntu 10.04, running php-fastcgi, nginx, and memcached. phpinfo() script loads and works great, same as a test memcached script. For any script using sessions, page load time rockets through the roof. --- memcached.ini --- extension=memcached.so memcache.hash_strategy = "consistent" memcache.max_failover_attempts = 100 memcache.allow_failover = 1 session.save_handler = memcached session.save_path = "tcp://127.0.0.1:11211?persistent=1&weight=1&timeout=1&retry_interval=15" Let me know if you need to see any other configs.
