• Android programmatically add buttons to layout from string array

  Does anyone know how to programatically add buttons to the layout from an array? I have an array of titles and icons that i have used for a list view and now i'm wanting to reuse the same arrays to create a layout as displayed here so the layout adds a button for each item in the array and arranges them in 3's according to device width. is this possible to do? Like in one screen has treeview on left side,gridview with paging in the middle and 4 buttons at right side. the controls are properly appears when the form is in maximize state. but if i minimize it the controls are not properly fits in the screen. i tried with different different tricks like table layout.. in dat i added panel...etc.. but i could not solve the problem. How can i create such type of screens which fits independent of size of my window. Thanks

• how do arguments work with dojo.connect?

  I've read the docs, but I must be missing something. I've got a grid, I want to connect to the event that fires when the column headers are clicked for sorting, thus: dojo.addOnLoad(function(){ var grid = dijit.byId("grid"); dojo.connect(grid, "setSortInfo", 'afterSort'); }); function afterSort() { console.info('after sort'); } That works fine as far as it goes. I know the setSortInfo method has an argument which is the column number. How do I get that value? I've tried putting a parameter in the sig for afterSort to no avail. The docs say "the method receives the same arguments as the event", but where are they???

• Matrix multiplication in java (RE-POST)

  Apologies for the re-post; the earlier time I'd posted I did not have all the details. My colleague, who quit the firm was a C# programmer, was forced to write Java code that involved (large, dense) matrix multiplication. He's coded his own DataTable class in Java, in order to be able to a) create indexes to sort and join with other DataTables b) do matrix multiplication. The code in its current form is NOT maintainable/extensible. I want to clean up the code, and thought using something like R within Java will help me focus on business logic rather than sorting, joining, matrix multiplication, etc. Plus, I'm very new to the concept of DataTable; I just want to replace the DataTable with 2D arrays, and let R handle the rest. (I currently do not know how to join 2 large datasets in java very efficiently Please let me know what you think. Also, are there any simple examples that I can take a look at?

  Hi there, I'm trying to wrap my head around mongoose, but I'm having a hard time finding any kind of documentation for some of the more advanced query options, specifically the .in and .sort methods. What's the syntax for sorting, for example, a Person by age? db.model("Person").find().sort(???).all(function(people) { }); Then, let's say I want to find a Movie based on a genre, where a Movie can have many genres (in this case, an array of strings). Presumably, I'd use the .in function to accomplish that, but I'm not sure what the syntax would be. Or perhaps I don't have to use the .in method at all...? Either way, I'm lost. db.model("Movie").find().in(???).all(function(movies) { }); Anyone have any ideas? Or even better, a link to some comprehensive documentation? Thanks! Chris

Given you don't understand each others language how would you using computer science to start the ground work of communication? eg. We know binary is universal, but not the way we write it. • What is the right approach when using STL container for median calculation?

  Let's say I need to retrieve the median from a sequence of 1000000 random numeric values. If using anything but STL::list, I have no (built-in) way to sort sequence for median calculation. If using STL::list, I can't randomly access values to retrieve middle (median) of sorted sequence. Is it better to implement sorting myself and go with e.g. STL::vector, or is it better to use STL::list and use STL::list::iterator to for-loop-walk to the median value? The latter seems less overheadish, but also feels more ugly.. Or are there more and better alternatives for me?

• Are Sphinx & thinking_sphinx really stable? Not indexing Columns

  I'm encountering strange behaviour from thinking_sphinx/sphinx. My define_index block is about 100 lines, so quite a lot of columns i'm indexing. For full-text searching I only need about 10 attributes, for sorting and filtering I have another approximately 50 columns, mostly floats and integers. By filtering I mean using the "with" or "without" options. Searching does not really work consistently. All of a sudden, one attribute fails to filter. Or if I add a new one, it does not work. Only after a lot of tinkering it suddenly starts working. I cannot really reproduce it. Steps I that sometimes lead me to success where: rm -rf db/sphinx change the attribute definition e.g. has some_attribute = has some_attribute, :sortable = true or = has some_attribute, :sortable = true, :as = "some_attribute" restarting the server assigning a new :as name = has some_attribute, :as = "some_attribute_new" (yes, I did rake ts:rebuild or rake ts:in after every step) Does anybody else encounter similar problems?

  Hello, I do not want to use 3rd party controls because I would have to buy a suite for justing using one control... So is there any chance I can arrange 3 entities: Subject, Grade and Pupil in that way on a simple DataGrid to show Pivot data like: ...........Math....Sports.... M.Kramer...A.......C......... B.Jonson...D.......A......... Does the binding for example work on the RowHeader with properties of a custom object/entity ? And would sorting destroy the whole relations between the entities ? You ever tried to do something like that?

• How to move an element in a sorted list and keep the CouchDb write "atomic"

  I have elements of a list in couchdb documents. Let's say these are 3 elements in 3 documents: { "id" : "783587346", "type" : "aList", "content" : "joey", "sort" : 100.0 } { "id" : "358734ff6", "type" : "aList", "content" : "jill", "sort" : 110.0 } { "id" : "abf587346", "type" : "aList", "content" : "jack", "sort" : 120.0 } A view retrieves all "aList" documents and displays them sorted by "sort". Now I want to move the elements, when I want to move "jack" to the middle, I could do this atomic in one write and change it's sort key to 105.0. The view now returns the documents in the new sort order. After a lot of sorting I could end up with sort keys like 50.99999 and 50.99998 after some years and in extreme situations run out of digits? What can you recommend, is there a better way to do this? I'd rather keep the elements in seperate documents. Different users might edit different elements in parallel (which also can get tricky). Maybe there is a much better way?

  I've built a class that derives from System.Web.UI.WebControl. It basically renders pagination links (same as what you see on top of GridView when enabled) for use above a repeater. I'm creating some anchor tags explicitly inside my nav control obviously, but they don't perform ajax postbacks. My understanding is that ajax requires POSTS to work right? Well, these would be GETs which I think is the problem. Is there a way to achieve what I'm trying to do? Thanks!

  In the Script documents that asp.net automatically generates how can I surround the whole generated scripts with try/catch statement to avoid 'Microsoft JScript Compilation error' My issue is: i got a DevExpress control (ASPxGridView) that added and set-up in run time, since i activated the grouping functionality in the grid I still get JS error says ';' expected whenever i use (click) on one of grouping/sorting abilities, I activated script Debugging for IE, in the JS code turns out that there is no missing ';' and once i click ignore for the error msg that VS generates every thing works fine, and surly end-user can't see this msg so i figured out if i try/catch the script that may help avoid this error.   From the docs: To summarize, though, if you execute a fetch directly, you should typically not add Objective-C-based predicates or sort descriptors to the fetch request. Instead you should apply these to the results of the fetch. If you use an array controller, you may need to subclass NSArrayController so you can have it not pass the sort descriptors to the persistent store and instead do the sorting after your data has been fetched. I don't get it. What's wrong with using them on fetch requests? Isn't it stupid to get back a whole big bunch of managed objects just to pick out a 1% of them in memory, leaving 99% garbage floating around? Isn't it much better to only fetch from the persistent store what you really need, in the order you need it? Probably I did get that wrong...

I'd like to sort that with the m's value. So, if I print the map, I'd like to get the result like m[6] = 1 m[2] = 5 m[4] = 6 m[1] = 10 this. How can I sort like this way? • Implement keyboard control in JavaScript Grid

  I finished building a JavaScript grid control, end everything works fine. Paging, button navigation, column sorting, etc. The cells in the grid are DIVs which are generated using Mootools 1.2.4 (which is heavily used throughout the control). I want to implement keyboard control for the grid, both for paging (page up/page down) and for moving with arrow keys inside the rows/cells of the grid. I think that I have to attach an event handler on each cell of the grid and detect what key is being pressed in order to take an appropriate action. But, I can't set the focus on the cells. What am I missing? How do I do this? Any help is appreciated.

  Hi, I am new to Subsonic, I have configured Subsonic3.0 T4 Template and created classes for my project. I have taken GridView and Object Datasource. Object datasource will connect to the one of the classes which is created from subsonic. I have set object datasource for g\fetch, Insert, Update and delete methods. Then i set the datasource of grid witht he object datasource. Grid view successfully showing me all the records. But at the time of Update, Insert or delete it throws an exception that "Can not ceate an instance of an interface". And also i am not able to dwbug in the code of the subsonic. May be because of partial classes. Can anyone please let me know what is happening at the backgrund? Or may be one can give me sample example which contains subsonic 3.0 and grid add, edit and delete so it will be really helpful for me.... Please... :) Thanks, George

• ASP.NET handling button click event before OnPreInit

  Hello, I have a data access layer, a business logic layer and a presentation layer (ie. the pages themselves). I handle the OnPreInit event and populate collections required for the page. All the data comes from an SQL server database and I do not use caching. I handle a button click event to grab values from a form and insert a new object into the database. The problem is that by the time I handle the click event, the collections have already been populated, so the new item which has been inserted into the database has not been retrieved. What is the accepted solution to this? I could insert the new object directly into the collection and re-bind the GridView, but the SQL query selects only a set of objects and the new object could fall outside of this set. Thanks!
