  • Bluetooth automatic mouse connection not working

    I'd like my HP Bluetooth Mouse x4000b (no usb dongle) to connect automatically when starting my HP laptop (Ubuntu 14.04), but I can't succeed in it : I'm forced to do it manually by clicking the "connect" button. I know this topic has been answered many times, but no solution worked for me. Here's what I tried so far : Creating the file /etc/default/bluetooth with lines : HIDD_ENABLED=1 HIDD_OPTIONS="--connect F0:65:DD:7D:EC:A0 --server" Putting hciconfig hci0 reset at the end of /etc/init.d/bluetooth Putting /etc/init.d/bluetooth stop sleep 1 /etc/init.d/bluetooth start in /etc/rc.local None of these solution worked, I've read a lot of topics but couldn't find a solution ... that's why I'm asking that here, hoping you can help me troubleshooting that.   • Just wondering about "Do-It Yourself Apps" on the internet versus apps written by us developers

    Hi, I have been doing Objective-C programming over the past few weeks, and I have learnt a lot. However, I see that there are other Web-companies offering services to consumers directly from their website that allow consumers to create their apps through a point and click and drag features without any code. Clearly they are more cost effective and fast than having a developer write an app. I was wondering if there are any advantages then of having a developer build an app for someone, other than the obvious advantage that its got a custom look and feel. Could someone please clarify, since Im new and would like to evaluate whether it is worthwhile spending time towards learning a whole new development environment when someone could just use a webservice to make an app for multiple platforms Thanks

  • Installed Ubuntu on a macbook pro and am running into errors with internet

    I recently installed Ubuntu (64 bit, 12.04) on a mid-2012 Macbook Pro, and I've been having some really annoying issues. Chief among them is that my wireless doesnt seem to function properly. I've installed Ubuntu on this mac before, and again this time the drivers for the wireless card were missing. I, using something along the lines of sudo su apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer A new problem I've been experiencing however is that none of the networks available in my home show up. I've been able to connect theto themm by going into "Connect to hidden networks" and typing in the network name and password, but when I restart the computer my network (let's just name it "Network1"), doesnt show up. I tried going into "Edit Connections" and it shows up in the wireless tab, but it is never connected to automatically or shows up in the drop-down menu. Any help?

  • HP Bluetooth Mouse Connection Problems

    About a month ago, I turned on my laptop (Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 8.1 dual boot, though the mouse works fine in Windows), logged in and connected my HP x4000b mouse via a bluetooth dongle (Kinivo BTD-400), and noticed that the battery indicator in Ubuntu said that the mouse battery was at 0%. The day before it was around 30%, so I decided to just change the batteries in the mouse, but after reconnecting with the new batteries, it still said 0%. The mouse connected and worked just fine, so I didn't think much of it. About a week after that, I noticed that my mouse would sometimes disconnect if I didn't use it, but since reconnecting isn't that hard I just decided to leave it. Now it also won't reconnect unless I log out and back in again, which is getting sort of tedious. Is there any way to fix this issue? Any help is appreciated, and I will try and respond to questions ASAP. Thanks.

  • How would I isolate one netowrked PC to LAN only?

    I would like to have one of my PCs available to the rest of my home network for file sharing and VNC access, but I want to block any Internet traffic going to and from the PC. In other words, I want all local PCs I have connected to the router functioning as any normal LAN would, but when it comes to the Internet I want one particular PC to be "safe" from the Internet. My guess is that this is some sort of port blocking or some other router function, but I'm not quite sure.

    I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed on a HP Pavilion DV2750ea. The wifi card is an Intel 4965AGN. When I first started using Ubuntu on this laptop it connected wirelessly to the network. Then it suddenly stopped. The Wifi card power light is off and all information says the card is disabled. When the laptop is powered on the wifi power light turns on and stays on until Ubuntu finishes loading. I have replaced the wifi card and the wifi switch module with no change. Please can you help.

  • No internet through a web browser but Skype still works

    We get our office broadband through a BT Business Broadband WiFi router. We have a mixture of macs and windows PC/laptops connecting to it at any one time. All devices are able to connect to the wireless signal with pretty much full signal. However, only two computers (one windows, one os x) are able to consistently connect to the internet. The other three (one windows, two os x), while they can always connect to the wifi, exhibit one of three characteristics. No internet at all. Programs like Skype work, but no internet through a browser. Internet works, but with intermittent lag when switching between different sites. I'm assuming while trying to resolve different addresses. Ignoring point 1 for moment, my gut is telling me DNS. It is an up to 20MB line that usually gets to between 13MB and 15MB downstream. The router is capable of dealing with the amount of wireless devices that we're throwing at it. Has anyone got any suggestions for how I might further diagnose this problem (preferably in OS X)?     as said in the title first of all i connected a usb key (ntfs formatted) with data in it, on ubuntu 12.04, after i disconnected it i was no more able to access the usb key neither from windows nor from ubuntu 12.04. The system asks me to format my usb key Just now i connected a hard drive ntfs formatted with data in it to ubuntu 12.04. I ejected correctly the hard drive and connected it to windows, and the system asks me to format my hard drive? same as the usb key Can someone help me please ? Would really appreciate!
