  I have a simple XML structure like <main> <node1><!-- comments --><!-- comments --></node1> </main> and this can have any number of sub-nodes or values like: <main> <node1><!-- comments --><!-- comments --><p>texttext text</p> more text <br/></node1> </main> I want to check if the node is empty or not: I'm doing something like: <xsl:if test="string-length(main/node1//text())&gt;0"> But it does not work as if there are multiple tags, then string-length function will break coz of multiple arguments. Any help to solve this issue is really appreciated.

I even tried doing: myElement.onclick = SomeFunction; // but this won't allow arguments I know I can create a string and use eval() and that does work, but I don't like eval(). Any ideas??? btw: This is a simple example to replicate the problem, and not actual code.

  The validations I know of are: Checksum the whole card number should add up to zero. (range is 0-9) Check the first digit(s) against the card type Check the length against the card type Check the CCV length against the card type (I think all the major types are 3 anyway) Of course make sure it is accepted card type as well as non expired. Are there any other validations :) (I expect many folks did not know about all of these) The reason I ask is because I overheard there was one to checksum number against expiration or CCV.. I just wanted to check.

• Most Efficient Way to Write to Fixed Width File (Ruby)

  I'm currently working with extremely large fixed width files, sometimes well over a million lines. I have written a method that can write over the files based on a set of parameters, but I think there has to be a more efficient way to accomplish this. • How do I interpolate between points without going beyond them?

  I have data of variable lengths (reaching movements recorded in 2D) and want to create a function that will resample this data to a uniform length (500 samples). However, I want matlab to only resample between the maximum and minimum values given, without adding any additional distance. For instance, if I resample the matrix [1:1:10], the resampled matrix should have a minimum value of 1 and a maximum value of 10. So far I've tried the following: x = [1:1:10]; interp(x, 500 / length(x)); This, however, gives values above my maximum specified value of 10. Is there any way I can get matlab to resample/interpolate solely between two points, without extending beyond them?

  I've got a moderately uncustomized UITableView in my application that presents an array of up to 6 peers for a networking game. When no peers are found the numberOfRowsInSection is 0, so when it loads up, there's no rows in the table: - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return 0; } Trouble is, the height of each cell is not adjusted to match heightForRowAtIndexPath unless the numberOfRowsInSection is 0. I hard-coded in "1" for this and the height is adjusted. - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return kTableRowHeight; } Can anyone tell me why this is? Will once the data that is being presented is longer than "0" length, will the height of the table cells jump to the correct height? I'd like them to be the correct height even if the row length is 0.

  Is it faster to loop through a Python set of numbers or a Python set of letters given that each set is the exact same length and each item within each set is the same length? Why? I would think that there would be a difference because letters have more possible characters [a-zA-Z] than numbers [0-9] and therefor would be more 'random' and likely affect the hashing to some extent. numbers = set([00000,00001,00002,00003,00004,00005, ... 99999]) letters = set(['aaaaa','aaaab','aaaac','aaaad', ...   I need a URL to just test basic http connectivity. It needs to be consistent and: Always be up Never change drastically due to IP or user agent. (IE: 301 Location redirect/ huge difference in content... minor would be tolerable) The URL itself has a consistent content-length. (IE: it doesn't vary from by 2kb at most, ever) A few examples, yet none match all 3 criteria: One example of always up: www.google.com (yet it 301 redirects based on IP location). Another good one is http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en. but the problem there is that based on a given holiday, the content-length can really vary.

• Regular Expression for accurate word-count using JavaScript

  I'm trying to put together a regular expression for a JavaScript command that accurately counts the number of words in a textarea. One solution I had found is as follows: document.querySelector("#wordcount").innerHTML = document.querySelector("#editor").value.split(/\b\w+\b/).length -1; But this doesn't count any non-Latin characters (eg: Cyrillic, Hangul, etc); it skips over them completely. Another one I put together: document.querySelector("#wordcount").innerHTML = document.querySelector("#editor").value.split(/\s+/g).length -1; But this doesn't count accurately unless the document ends in a space character. If a space character is appended to the value being counted it counts 1 word even with an empty document. Furthermore, if the document begins with a space character an extraneous word is counted. Is there a regular expression I can put into this command that counts the words accurately, regardless of input method?

I am essentially trying to achieve a dynamic iteration over a variable sized array of variable sized arrays similar to the following.   I was wondering if anyone could point out why I'm not able to capture a web reply. My NSLog shows that my [NSMutableData receivedData] has a length of 0 the entire run of the connection.   I set the width of a textarea to 100%, but now I need to know how many characters can fit in one row. I'm trying to write a javascript function to auto-grow/shrink a textarea. I'm trying to keep from using jquery since I just need this one function. My logic is to rows = textarea.value.split('\n'), iterate through rows and count += rows[i].length/textarea.cols, then count += rows.length, and finally textarea.rows = count. The only problem is that count is too large because textarea.cols is too small.

• Storing an arbitrary R object onto HDD?

  I understand that we can export data matrices to csv or xlsx files. What about complex objects like lm? For example, in my work I might have a list of length 1000, each with a single lm() object. Each time I load R I have to wait a long time to populate the 1000 length list with these lm objects with a for loop or a lapply. I would rather just save the list somewhere on my HDD at the end of a session and open it at the start of the next session.
